Is it only the poets
who truly know it
The meaning of their ambiguous poems?
Can no one know
which way the words blow
in the storm ‘neath where
they drag their combs?

Home is where the hate is
for many an innocent man
Sadly, many remain where they are
To, at least, know where they stand

The whole time I’m awake
I feel I could sleep
but when I lie down
I become wide awake
Alas the dry heaves of sleep

Each and every human being
is a uniquely painful expression of living on this earth.
The pain shapes us like a lathe.
It’s a big part of why no two people are alike. Each person’s suffering is truly his own.

Is there anything like
a nice cool breeze
in the sunshine of Spring
on days like these?
Fluffy white clouds
in a crispy blue sky
soaking up moisture
‘til they’re ready to cry
Flowers around mailboxes
for miles and miles
Dead leaves and branches
stacked up in piles
The greens have returned
to Winter’s bare trees
in the sunshine of Spring
on days like these

Does anyone feel
there are parts of themselves
that are both appearing and hiding?
From a house on a hill
in a room locked away
hands poking through holes
in the siding
