You broke a tired heart.
Then you picked up the pieces,
left them in your wake.

The weight comes,
a sudden darkness.
It presses down,
hard.
The world feels far away,
a blurry picture.
Inside, a storm
rages.
Thoughts whisper
like dry leaves
on a cold wind.
They say it's the only way.
But a small spark,
a tiny ember,
flickers.
It remembers laughter,
sunlight,
a gentle hand.
It holds on,
a stubborn little light
against the overwhelming dark.
Maybe,
just maybe,
it can grow.

It's 1 AM
But I'm still awake
I need to go to sleep
But my body is betraying me

The room is quiet,
No one is near.
A shadow I walk,
Unseen, unclear.
Words left unspoken,
A song unsung.
A color faded,
On a canvas hung.
I stand in a crowd,
But no one knows.
A silent whisper,
That no one hears, or shows.
Just a quiet presence,
A gentle sigh.
Underneath the big sky,
Passing by.

They don't know how it feels
to awake every morning,
and all they can wonder is
why they had even awoken
They don't know how it feels
to pick up all of their pieces,
and put them back together
but still feel like they're broken
They don't know how it feels
to say all that they can say,
and still feel like there's more
but every word has been spoken
They don't know how it feels
to go to sleep every night,
and the only hope they have
is that their eyes will not open

I stand but my heart shatters
For a broken promise
One nation with liberty but not for all
Justice justices for every child
But where the **** is is justice
When families shatter at borders
When a name is a crime
When a face is a target
We say justice for all
But this world is a **** lie
And until we mean it every voice stays buried
Every hope crushed
