Water dripping from leaves and trees kept the rain falling for hours after it left the sky
I haven’t an alibi against loving you
My spring and summer lover, drifting into fall
History sticks between our teeth
You are a seed in my heart
Everything borrowed against time
for time to take back
and
all I can hope for
is one last moment with everything

I took and benzo to let my mind go down a long stream of silver lined sentiments in autumn. A curative nature codependent with offerings of self-reliance. The leash leading the leader. I was ever so young only once, and these days we’re adrift on years of waiting for something better. The raindrops didn’t touch my face thanks to covered porches. We are grateful and undone in the same sentence.

Soon but not today
A mantra I leave tied around my neck
for safe keeping
The knot is double tied for permanence or
I forgot how to tie any other types of knots
There are big waves in the Sound
and bigger still in Nazaré
If I could surf, I don’t think I’d want to
My swimming was left underdeveloped like
the way this place used to look
a few centuries back
My brain has grown accustomed to melancholy
and strokes it like a Cheshire Cat on its lap
The cat looks for Alice in the mouse traps
because he’s lazy
He knows the story’s ending soon,
but not today

Intermittent tapping on the table
Intermittent bed frame against the wall
I tried to call,
but my thumbs went numb in the rain
Intermittent fasting
Intermittent feasting
Intermittent fighting
Intermittent I love you
A song bird working hard to sing
a sweet song on a cold day
Intermittent clothes strewn across the floor
Intermittent slammed doors
A heart skipped its beat to draw out the sentence
Preoccupied with permanence in an ever changing world

Life is an entanglement with love as the primary measure. The recipe was lost back when you had to print things, bound to you like the atoms forming the helium in our stars, happy to infinitely embrace until gravity pushes concave and rips the scripture to pieces
