weights on eyes
dragging shades down over windows
bringing darkness into my home
ghostly thoughts swirl through my skull
building, building, until they overflow
bursting through the windows
sending pure sorrow spilling
down

I'll tell you the story of Cloony the Clown
Who worked in a circus that came through town.
His shoes were too big and his hat was too small,
But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all.
He had a trombone to play loud silly tunes,
He had a green dog and a thousand balloons.
He was floppy and sloppy and skinny and tall,
But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all.
And every time he did a trick,
Everyone felt a little sick.
And every time he told a joke,
Folks sighed as if their hearts were broke.
And every time he lost a shoe,
Everyone looked awfully blue.
And every time he stood on his head,
Everyone screamed, "Go back to bed!"
And every time he made a leap,
Everybody fell asleep.
And every time he ate his tie,
Everyone began to cry.
And Cloony could not make any money
Simply because he was not funny.
One day he said, "I'll tell this town
How it feels to be an unfunny clown."
And he told them all why he looked so sad,
And he told them all why he felt so bad.
He told of Pain and Rain and Cold,
He told of Darkness in his soul,
And after he finished his tale of woe,
Did everyone cry? Oh no, no, no,
They laughed until they shook the trees
With "Hah-Hah-Hahs" and "Hee-Hee-Hees."
They laughed with howls and yowls and shrieks,
They laughed all day, they laughed all week,
They laughed until they had a fit,
They laughed until their jackets split.
The laughter spread for miles around
To every city, every town,
Over mountains, 'cross the sea,
From Saint Tropez to Mun San Nee.
And soon the whole world rang with laughter,
Lasting till forever after,
While Cloony stood in the circus tent,
With his head drooped low and his shoulders bent.
And he said,"THAT IS NOT WHAT I MEANT -
I'M FUNNY JUST BY ACCIDENT."
And while the world laughed outside.
Cloony the Clown sat down and cried.

shadow-shrouded face
turn to the earth
travel to your lonely hearth
outcast boy drawn near
tease and flirt
remove your shirt
taken girl leading on
heaving blue hearts
gluing together shards

fear-frozen branches hang limp
half-severed limbs dangling by shattered sinews
scattered green pearls illuminated in the muted florescent light
but a dark void where the unnatural light can not reach
palms spread facing in towards a towering, gaunt figure

A single drop can
quench the thirst of
a man long done with
yelling.
A single bucket can
scald the skin of
a woman bathing with
coals.
A single ocean can
drown the dreams of
a child left without
a boat.
A single bottle can
rob the pockets of
a man left without
a home.

your opinions are debatable
persona? not quite dateable
in fact, you're very hate-able
and that is why I am not able
to keep telling this sweet fable
and living within your labels
this relationship is not stable
lets return to the drawing table
and from the equation we should subtract
You.

Sometimes it brings happiness,
Sometimes it brings pain,
Money, if you mess with it,
Will go straight to your brain

there was a man
with hair on his face
it grew and grew
all over the place
there was no place
it did not grow
a face so hairy
only his eyes did show
his big thick beard
was almost black
but red and blonde hairs
he did not lack
over his lips and ears
it did so drape
so he took his scissors
and began to shape
he took his time
he snipped with care
but in the end
he cut too much hair
his hair lay in a clump
within his hands he did cup
and thought to himself
*well i ****** this all up*
looking in the mirror
he really felt sad
thinking back 5 minutes
to the beard he just had
all and all
this really did blow
but it will be back
in a few weeks or so

I fell in love
With your
Laughter
And your smile
Your jokes
And stories
I fell for
The way you
Wrap your
Arms around me
The way you
Comfort me
And the way
You make my
Heart flutter
I fell
For the way
You looked at me
And the way
You cared
Unlike any other
I fell for
The way
You made me happy
And I fell
For your
Craziness
Because
You fell for mine.

I have never quite understood it,
But every now and then,
A smile that is very rare appears on your face.
I doubt you even realize it.
It creeps out when you sing in the car.
When you are proud.
When you hold a volleyball in your fingertips.
When you look at the mountains.
And I wish there was a way for me to capture that.
You don't know the pride I have in you,
My little sister,
When you grin like the world
Does not control your mouth.
I want you to know you can smile.
You have every right.
Let your eyes be the sunshine,
Let your lips paint the canvas
In shades of yellow, pink, and orange.
Stretch your arms out wide so you can
Welcome each soul with kindness,
Because I know that's who you are.
I know this because I am her, too,
The girl with stars in her eyes
And her heart on her sleeve.
And let me tell you,
There is not a better place to wear it,
Because the pain that comes with it
Is so worth the beauty that follows.
Because the people that break your heart
Will always be followed by the ones
That have been picking up the pieces
So they could return them to you.
All of me wishes you knew your inner beauty.
Of course you are gorgeous outside, as well,
But dig deep,
Shovel down in to your soul until you see the gem.
And I cannot believe you do not already,
Because you shine so brightly
That even the moon pales in comparison.
Karena, you are compassionate.
You feel things that people overpass;
You are the definition of a "friend."
Forgive, forgive, forgive...
Because you do not have time to hate.
Holding grudges is not your style;
And although I do not always think it's wise,
I admire you very much for that.
You see the good in others.
Thank you
For seeing the good in me.
Remember, forever and always,
That I love you.
I'm always your biggest fan.
We've been through it all together,
And that will never change.
Don't lose the spark in your eyes,
Or the warmth in your heart.
Keep being spunky and opinionated.
You are a fire, a ball of life,
And isn't it wonderful
That while some merely
Exist,
You are truly
Alive.
And please--
Never
Stop
Smiling.
