Blood from a stone;
Vulcan, erupt.
In his Ares heart,
Of the Zeno soul.
The battle drags on
For a cause, I do not know.
Breon Nov 2018
The silence rages at the walls as,
In the bowels of the science building,
Thirty sweating, stifled faces stare
Through the glass of flat-bottomed flasks
To witness annihilation: acid and base
Finding a measure of peace, as it were.
In measuring and pouring caustic hell
How bile overflows in a rush to quench
The rising roil of acid in your gut,
They replicate results nature produces
Largely by accident, and so do they.
Later they'll forge their reports
With Vulcan's own creative gleam,
But here, it's patient swirling,
Steady hands, and holding breath -
Excited, maybe tired, maybe terrified.
Lab courses take an hour of prep, three hours of experimentation, and two hours to write up a week. Getting only one measly credit hour for the experience is a travesty.

She is a Vulcan
Part Seductress
Part Enigma

She will lure you into her sphere
The sound of her music a trap
You’re unaware of its allure

Like a kiss that captivates your heart
Leaving you wondering is this madness
Until caught in its entanglement

You ask how did I get here
Why was I such easy prey
When will I learn

Yet again shopping around
The fractals have led you wrong
Is this self sacrifice you ponder

Led down a garden path
Betrayed by yearnings thought pure
Her crown like a shiny object reels you in

Her lipstick captivates you
Her eyes like a gravitational pull
Her horns pierce your heart

Like a cigarette burn left unattended
The wound festers like an assassin
Until it feels like a lobotomy

It is only as the poison spreads that you realize
It was all a game to bring on a revolution
Vengeance the end goal

She is an artist vying for your love
Throwing gasoline on our passion
As if struck by lightning the reverberation hits

There is a lesson to be learned
But what
And is it too late

Morning ushers in Del Sol
Of him we have no derth
He hammers like a demi-God
Vulcan o'r the earth

It's 9:16 already
And it will not be long
Before the mighty blacksmith
Holds the world in his tongs

He puts the desert over fire
'Til it's a white-hot sheet
Then the pounding is in earnest
It scorches in the heat!

Vulcan lived under the earth
But the hills, twisting, have spun
He now sails the skies above
The omni-potent

SUN!

They predict it's going to go up to 112 degrees today in Tucson Arizona. I don't know about anybody else but I'm staying inside! :/

the desert lies in wait
the anvil of the sun
it's creatures know their fate
'fore the summer has begun
the heat will either ****
as surely as a gun
or folk bend to its will
the weather's cruelty to shun

the parched and dusty soil
waits for the summer rains
these will quench or spoil
flooding down arroyo drains
water weeps - the El Nino
great winds rip the plains
like an eagle's cry they echo
destroy in their refrains

the weather makes or breaks you
whether fire or killing frost
the farmer is the one who
pays the greatest cost
every year the price is dear
so much to be lost
temperatures to soar
the earth is torn or tossed

but the people of Sonora
already have begun
to feel It's powerful aura

the anvil of the sun

every year hikers pass out
from the heat, and die in the desert

be warned - the sun is as Vulcan
not the character on Star Trek
tho he has pointy ears

HE CAN BE A DEVIL

as far as frontiers go, there is the mind, the oceans and
there is space,
as far as points on a compass, there are four, then eight
and there are sixteen,

Of three hundred and sixty.  On Earth.

Take your compass to the ocean deep,
leave it there and let the pressure creep
inside for if the needle points right
it will be a miracle, a crushing miracle.

Antares.  The first time heard I this name
it was on the self-same Star Trek.  Logic
escapes me right now, for logic escaped
us all, when he left.

Antares. A bottle of Shiraz from Chile,
would you raise a glass of anything tonight
and wish one another to "live long and
prosper"

Antares.  Fill a portion of space, look close
no, you won't see his face, nor even the
face of God.  Some mysteries still need
logic to solve. Even through a four finger "V"

Antares.  Meet me there bring your glass
and a telescope, a star chart and the dvd
pack of every episode, we will set the
table and a place for every crew member
                                              and remember
to leave one for the science officer, Spock.

Turn the lights low and with
the remote control just hit play
and stare out to space, sublime
one final frontier, one final time.

Breathing fire, from below,
Spitting a molten soul skywards,
Flinging pumice, ash, and fear,
The angry Vulcan casts,
His ever darkening shadow cross,
As the timely reminder , of
The fragility of this existence.
