A tombstone
that lays unseen…
Unmarked
but known to a few.

”Herein
lies a heart
that beats
in syncopation -
for two.”

Tiny flower all alone, grows before an unmarked stone. Fallen soldier with no name, because of this no one came.

Tiny flower how you’ve grown, spread before this unmarked stone. Fallen pedals in lieu of tears, each one denotes a passing year.

Tiny flowers surround this stone, the only spot that you have grown. People stop to ponder why, overwhelmed by grief they begin to cry.

Tiny flower thanks to you, this stone is marked with the sight of you. Fallen soldier rest in peace, for your forgotten years have finally ceased.

i cried and then i thought about it
i thought about it and then i laid in bed.
i laid in bed and then i poured my heart out
into a sea of words left unsaid.

and i whispered every word,
every confused and unmarked letter.
and then i cried some more,
even though i knew so much better.

i laughed and then i smiled.
the smile faded way too quick
and i would've cried some more,
if the tears didn't make me feel so sick.

my head is numb from the knowledge,
i knew it was coming too fast.
and now my heart is learning,
but this concept.. it just can't grasp.

i cried and then i shivered.
i thought this feeling would fade so much quicker.

There are mourners beside an unmarked grave
witness how quietly they all there do behave.
All shedding silent tears for one they’ve lost
perhaps some loved one in this way to accost.

It seems uncertain if anyone about really knows
who is buried there beneath the grass that grows
at this distant lonely place away from all the rest
perhaps it was the deceased person’s last bequest.

There isn’t any indication to say when, where or how the person died
just these mourners that have come here it seems from far and wide
to pay their solemn respects to one for which only they all know
perhaps it’s the least thing to the departed one they now do owe.

The buried person must have left a strong impression in everyone’s mind
and when alive would have been an influence of some remarkable kind.
There’s no real telling just what the circumstances might then have been
but judging from the expression on all their faces one of deep loss is seen.

The flowers brought by all the mourners gathered there
have been so placed on the ground at their feet where
they have formed a cross inside a circle of distinction
commemorating the passing of one with a benediction.
