i used to think that driving
in developing countries
was just a series of close calls
but it is this unstructured discipline
and a firm commitment to disorder
that enchanted those
to come
read: conquer
and build institutions
hell bent on
extracting the soul
with a scalpel
and replacing customs
with consumption

I don't remember when I first read Sophie's World, today I sit and write about Sophie's world hoping someday someone is gonna read it too.

We live alongside her, well, I live in the third world and we hardly know anything about it. However its a reality, and I see myself like the Italian grandmother who appeared on my computer screen this morning trying to make a conversation with 'goo-goo'. I am just being another 'cucumber with anxiety'.

Hey goo-goo, okay goo-goo, play Mary did you know!
"..this child that you delivered, will soon deliver you"
In a new world shop branded
That boasts of good standards
Stacks of clothes folded
Nicely matching the standards

The label proudly gloat
Of the owners wealthy abode
In tiny print it is shone
The country where it's born

China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India
and my own
Lands where brands aren't a
priced norm
The hands that stitched them
never know
That she is paid less than the
branded piece you own
