You’d like if I was a rock,
You want me to act all hard
Not capable of shock,
Stable, strong, and without scars

I’m not that heavy
I’m not even tethered
To the ground beneath my feet
Instead I fly like a feather

Fly like a feather,
Up in the sky
Falling victim to the weather
Yeah all day and night, I fly like a feather
Fly like a feather

We all get caught up
In various places
Wearing various faces
Inside various races
Racing to the day
When we finally come face to face
With what we want until we have it
And we wear it as a bracelet
But once you get the bracelet,
Soon you’ll want the necklace
And soon you’ll have a checklist
And soon you’ll go out reckless
And drop all that you have
Until you get the cracked message
That your enemies are headless
Fallen victim to your leverage.
Can I get a beverage?
I’m way too thirsty
I’m a feather in a whirlwind
And all of this wind is whirling
I don’t know what I want
And I want what I can’t control
And I’m admitting it, for once,
That I have many shallow goals
And all of my real goals
Don’t really reach to my soul
I have this beautiful life I stole
Smiling faces, honor role,
But when I’m faced with a storm
Of someone whose wonder I can’t code
Then my mind short circuits
And it’s stuck on flying and rolling

Like a feather
Up in the sky
Falling victim to the weather
Yeah all day and all night, I fly like a feather
Like a feather

What everybody wants from me,
Would that make my life so much better?
Should I try to soak up some water
To make myself a bit wetter
So I can shiver and die
In this cold harsh reality
Instead of daring to keep flying
To keep everyone else without me?
I’m doubting my reasons
My instinctive seasons
That command, keep marching
That command keep bleeding
Out your heart, mind, and soul
Even though it’s so shallow
But sometimes shallow runs deep
When your mind stuck in the shadow
Of your dreams, dreams manipulated by hormones
I’m stuck in fantasies of wanting to not be alone
But there’s attraction involved
And my problem is not solved
Should I go for what I want
Or leave this issue unresolved?
Well, I tried pursuing girls, twice I succeeded
But to sum it up mildly,
My progress was deleted
And my good intentions,
Well, those were defeated
And I got what I deserved
Because I’m chuck full of weakness.
Dreamless, I moved back to isolation
Where I was told how to act
And told to just be patient
But I’m not a monk
And I’m not yet muted
So when I meet a cute girl
My final thesis is proven,

I just fly like a feather
Up in the sky
Falling victim to the weather
Yeah, all day and all night I fly like a feather
I fly like a light feather

What’s better,
Acting normal until you and me are together
Or expressing myself explicitly and making you not get hurt
By showing you how I’m thirsty
Sending texts and writing letters?
Let me know what you prefer
Don’t make this choice subjective.
I’m in your storm, I’m moved by your beauty
It’s the rain and the wind,
The appearance and intelligence
I want this and I turn you away
I can’t escape, I love every day
In my mind there’s nothing,
But there’s so much to say
I don’t think when you fly me,
You just whisk me away
And I’m never worried here
In this storm, this blessing,
Why are my words smart?
Why are my words jesting?
Is this manipulation,
Am I treating you right?
Can I ask more questions
Is this the day before the night?
Is this the light to the dark,
The storm before the calmness
Of the upcoming loneliness
I’ll feel when you don’t return my call?
When your storm stops and never comes again at all?
Well, like, I said, I might want to be a stone,
So once your storm’s done, fine,
I’ll be a feather alone
Until again I’m a feather blown
So light, so free,
So without any control
This is all I’ll ever be!

I fly like a feather
Up in the sky
Falling victim to the weather
All day and all night I fly like a feather
Fly like a feather

I wish we could be together
Up in the sky
Having love, making weather
All day and all night, whether wrong or whether right,
I fly like a feather
A brick falls
A feather falls

Which hits the ground first?
The brick smashes into pebbles
While the feather hovers down,
Oh so gentlly
Is it the same case with people?
The weight of the world makes us
Like the brick
Guilt, fear, anger
In our hearts as we sink

A feather falls
It makes no sound, no crashing noise
Yet it reaches its destination
With great poise
Twisting and turning
And correcting itself

Watch the brick fall
No twists and turns, no direction
Straightforward, with no correction
It comes with a roaring thud
Known only by the noise it makes
Ignorant of its own mistakes
Pulled down by the haul
Of its own weight

Be like the feather
Be weightless!
It does not mean
You are late touching ground
You just take your tender time
Getting there

Be like the feather
Be complicated!
Without twists and turns
There can be no correction
Recognize mistakes
And learn from them

Be like the feather
Be flexible!
Do not fall so hard
To one destination
You never know where
The winds will guide you

The brick falls
The feather falls

The brick lands
The feather is falling

The feather is falling
The feather is falling
The feather is falling
The feather is falling

The feather is falling
The feather is falling

The feather is falling
The feather is falling

The feather lands

A beautiful unusual looking feather fell to the ground
It was black, gray and white
It was in perfect condition
It was sitting in between the leaves that had fallen from the trees
Fall had arrived

A small boy was walking home
He found the feather sitting on the ground
He picked it up to look at it
To save it he took one of his school books out from his backpack
He opened the book and put the feather in between the pages and closed the book for safe keeping

He then put the book back into his backpack and continued on his way home
Once he got inside his house, he took out the feather and showed it to his mother

She looked at it and told him to show it to his father when he got home from work

The boy then went upstairs to his room
He put his backpack down on the chair by his desk and took out the book to look at the feather once again

It was absolutely beautiful
He had never seen anything like it
He felt like he had found a treasure
He was tired and wanted to rest
So he put the feather away and took a nap till his father arrived

While he slept the feather opened the book and stood up on one end
It started to turn slowly
As it turned gold sparkles covered the feather glistening in the light
It was pure magic

The feather then went back into the book and closed it
When the boy awoke his father had come home
He grabbed the book with the feather to show his father
His father was an historian
While his father studied it
He walked into his study to find a book on the book shelf
The boy followed his father

The boys father found the book and brought it down from the shelf
It was a very old book with a special leather red cover and gold edged pages

The father looked up the feather and discovered that it had belonged to the head dress  of a former Native American chief named Temacuah. It was magical and also had protective powers

The feather would release its magic only when it was owned by the right person. Otherwise it looked like any other feather

While they were doing their research the feather stood up again on one end and started turning  ever so slowly
As it did, the gold specks on it glistened once again
It was beautiful

The boys father knew this had only happened because his son was the correct owner

They also found out that the feather was very old
Several thousand years old
Yet it showed no age
It was perfect
They had found true magic
They felt blessed
I call this blood
You call that bird
feather They are
feather They are
bleeding bird
a blood-colored bird
red and falling
full of readiness
as anything falling
Feather blood bird
bird Feather blood
blood bird Feather
Death is never obvious so
a bird can also fly down
and a catheter bleeds for life
Death is never obvious:
feather feather and feather.

A feather floating,
this feather is me and it was a pound heavier.
This once heavy feather merely floated.
I found solace in weighted thoughts,
my heart was born a feather
and it personified me
but it felt too special in all the wrong ways
when this feather aged and changed
many felt pain and this poor feather floated
but it added a few ounces to normalize itself
this heart of mine added weight by the day to
identify myself with other with ease.
I tried to float in this new chapter of my life,
but the feather floated ungracefully,
the feather lost its fluffy bits, bit by bit.
Crunch time and I dropped a pound of weight from my heart,
it was sudden, almost like losing baggage in an air plane terminal.
I use this feather as a saber,
it floats gently around conflicts that are blinded by shallow intents
and cuts the air.
It dances and spins,
this feather truly floats.
this poems inspo is a combo of the music I'm listening to as well as a friends poem. Enjoy!

Feather

"Hither, Feather, come from the wind!"

The Feather obeys, gliding
Gently to the voice.

"Feather be tethered tonight to the letters! The letters of lovers!"

The Feather floats on it's own breeze
Down to many sleeping lover's papers.
Gliding across each page so swiftly,
Feather penned every affection
Each lover felt for the other.

Bodies and personalities,
Actions and words.
All were described
In detail like a bribe.

The last letter being finished,
Feather fluttered around the room,
Waking each lover from snooze,
So their love would blossom and bloom.

As the sun dawned in the east,
Feather returned to the sky.
Seeking out the voice again,
Chasing it to it's joyful cries.

"You have done well, Feather! Return to your wandering ways."

The Feather returns;
Following its winds.

So the next feather you see on the ground
Pick it up, and let your lover not frown. :)

Slipping free from yester's time,
A Feather trapses yond the way,
On wind it floats, a step, sublime,
Dipping and ducking flakes of grey,
Those forged by winter, the sun's decay,
Plates of ivory, why must they hack?
Torn soil, a relic of why you turn away,
Soar away, O Feather, and don't float back.

O Sea, so fair, shimmering as a chime,
As the wind you switch, and you sway,
And your blues shine like a dime,
But if he drifts beyond the bay,
Will waters claim him, as they say?
Or shall he wash back, with the wrack?
To you, O Sea, he mustn't stray,
Soar away, O Feather, and don't float back.

O Mount, your peak, the rigorous climb,
At your summit, scores kneel and pray,
Your caps glow white, with a grass bed of lime,
If you were where the feather must stay,
Shall your perils bring him fray?
Must he lie in caves of black?
Nay, a feather must fly, and outward he must splay,
Soar away, O Feather, and don't float back.

O Feather, O Feather, where will you spend your days?
Here I must halt on the trail of your track,
Seize the wind, O Feather, the world is your prey,
Soar away, O Feather, and don't float back.
A tale of independence.
A feather lay on the sill of an open window
A slight breeze escapes into the room
The feather sways to the rhythm of its commander
Waiting to land.

But that feather never does
And the wind continues to gush by
The feather flows in the air
Waiting to land.

So close to the ground
So close to the infinite possibilities,
But that feather is grabbed mid-air
Never getting the chance.

The ground stays empty,
The hand of the receiver stays full,
And that feather stays waiting,
Waiting for its chance on the ground.

But the ground has no promises
There will never be a complete reassurance there
So for now the feather lays safe in the hands of another
Until the feather is willing to fall
And the ground lay empty,
Waiting for that feather to land.
I have my own thoughts that went behind this poem... but I figured I would do a poem that instead of being straight to the point, it is up for interpretation. That way, more people can relate to it.

The Feather

A man lost his wife with the plague at its worst
She died in the night while she slept
Everything was burned the very next morning
Except for the feather that he kept

The feather was found on the bed where she lay
Lost from her down pillow's tear
They told him the feather had come from a goose
But he knew that an angel was there

He carried that feather all through the town
Showing it to anyone who'd look
He'd tell them the story about the angel who came
And his wife was the one that they took

Again, they told him that it came from a goose
But it was something he wouldn't believe
So they finally decided they'd leave him alone
For they thought that he needed to grieve

He carried that feather for the rest of his life
'Til one day they found the man dead
He died in his sleep with the feather in his hand
With another one found on his bed

Coming into my own,
Branching structures outside my normative zone.
They can’t keep my voice silenced like redbone.
Can’t keep the message fossilized in stone.
We must evolve to heal the traumatized.
From structures intricately connected to harming marginalized lives.
Scars that lie beneath the skin, unseen by naked eyes.
Gotta be like a barbule; gotta connect and empathize.
Like a feather we must modify the process to better serve different functions.
To correct ignorant assumptions.
Which breeds nothing but dysfunction.
One way to do this is by having open, comfortable and safe discussions.

(Chick Corea & Return forever-light as a feather)

“Clear days feel so good and free
So light as a feather can be
Clear days feel so good and free
So light as a feather can be”

Gotta be resilient cause we trauma prone,
Even before foster care we was placed outside our homes.
Stuck within concentration camps or road allowance zones.
A practice so vile I think I’d rather get ******.
With insufficient plates for mouths, so many got buried in graves unknown.
Naive knaves betrayed and still smell of the perpetrators cologne.
Colonists were Terminators that tried to vanquish more than just John Connor.
But every hero needs an antagonist and our people won’t simply Timber.
We bounce back like Rubber, yawl can’t keep us in the gutter.
No matter how low it gets we’ll float above it like a feather.
Resilient despite the weather.
Resilient despite the pressure.

(Chick Corea & Return forever-light as a feather)

“Clear days feel so good and free
So light as a feather can be
Clear days feel so good and free
So light as a feather can be”
Feather Fall
and show us all
how weightless life can be
Feather Fall
and let us all
watch as you float free
Feather Fall
come teach us all
how to be at peace
Feather Fall
point out our flaws
as you touch the trees and leaves
