Jan 2017
frayed ropes of blue, green, red and violet
knotted together
keeping me safe from the world
cracked sunflower buttons fastened
against the autumn breeze
holding your hand
as i crunch through the brittle leaves
i will treasure it forever
because woven between the strands
are lilting memories that transport me
to a time before overthinking
and unnecessary words
when the only thing to worry about
was tying my shoes
and kissing you goodnight
