Short Lives
Short lives
Always left wondering
What new songs
Could they sing?

Short lives
Taken to soon
Keith first man on the moon

Short lives

Waiting for Jimi's new rhymes

Whisky or gin

Dad Joke
Nick Moore Apr 27
Bumbling around
To a Dire Straits sound

You're definitely not woke
With that Dad joke

From inside the shed
Beer is brewing
"Just planting some seeds"
Who's he fooling?

But
Now my eyes can see
Not
A
Caricature
It's all about
LOVE
In this role that he plays

From you're bedside
The last words spoke
Delivered to me
One last Dad joke

Now
Heart broke
Time to tell the kid's
My own Dad Joke
Inspired by a comment from Anais Vionet, thanks for the Inspiration.

Somethings a hatching

                     The dog's a scratching

What is that I see?

                                        A crazy flea!

I try to incarcerate

Waking thoughts

Burst through from the other side
Jump on a bike
Take a ride

What thoughts inside my head
All this
While asleep in bed

Are dreams a real place?
Or just the space
Behind the face?

Confront.
Nick Moore Mar 31
When I was little, a voice in my head, said.
“there’s a monster underneath my bed”

Not liking the fear that he gave
A part of me was it's slave

I needed to be brave
Look him in the eye

It was time for a monster hunt
Not knowing the word confront

Monster underneath my bed
Are you inside my head?

Jump up, you can't get me
Claws grabbing that you cannot see

Eye’s closed
Stick my head under the bed
Open up after three
There was nothing there to see

"If a big bang occurs and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
Nick Moore Dec 2023
Climbing up the mountain
The summit to behold
No holding to this moment
Soul will not be sold

Decending has it's lessons
The journey must be made

Mind must be free
Never made a slave

Ground level is for pondering
Many holes to walk around

Hold on to something half forgotten
Strong will must be found

One day on the horizon
A mountain can be seen

A calling to the summit, and everything
In-between.
Nick Moore Dec 2023
Started with toys
They ment so much to me
Through the shop window
Wonderful things to see.

Then one day
I gave them all away.

Love of music
What a pleasant way to be,
Vinyl, cassette, cd's
Ment everything to me.

Then one day
I gave them all away.

Now no trinkets, but eyes see clear and far
Mind free to fly on the day I gave it all away.

Forgetting and remembering
What's that song we used to sing?

When we talk old friend
The missing bits are made a mend.
Nick Moore Aug 2023
Let there be darkness
helping us all to see

The light in the night
and the darkness in the day
not just one shade of Grey

There could be a call
that wakes us from our sleep
helping us all to see

The light in the night
and the darkness in the day
not just one shade of Grey

Everyday I put a moment away
believing this to be true
and as I try to think
through the swirling of the ink
something's surrounding me

The light in the night
and the darkness in the day
not just one shade of Grey

There could be a thought
that could change everything
gaining us
strength to see

The light in the night
and the darkness in the day
not just one shade of Grey

If I loose my way
through twisting of the day
colours fading away
I know all's not lost
as I start to see

The light in the night
and the darkness in the day
not just one shade of grey
not just one shade of grey

Golden age.
Nick Moore Jan 2023
It's always darkest just before dawn,
So my love,
Don't feel forlorn.

From within the cocoon,
Break open the door,
Whatever was imagined,
There's so much more.

Collectively turn a new page,
Welcome in a golden age.

Nick Moore Dec 2022
How long for the next one to come?
Through the night, morning sun.

Will it stay in my mind?
Or fade away, soul blind.

Nick Moore Feb 2022
The tide comes in every day
Taking all the sandcastles away.

A different tide is on the way
Bringing a brand new day.

We shall see through all the lies
Look you're sisters and brothers in the eye.

No words needed
Awoken
Truth is spoken.

The great devide .
Nick Moore Nov 2020
In their eyes, see the fears
facemask wrapped around the ears.

On their own, in the car
common sense removed so far.

So I'm spreading it far and wide
my face I do not hide.

Stay safe, for good health
Get to know thy self.

Stay at home
home is within,
Cannot go very far
wherever you go
there you are.

The Illusion of safety
Nick Moore Oct 2020
The old world is crumbling,
fear not I
always gave me comfort
to look into the sky.

Many fear the chaos,
give freedom away,
believe whatever
the media say.

Remember that tower?
there is higher power,
God has struck the hour.

Or, are we all still shouting

What do you see?
Poem’s of the mind in 3d

A stream of consciousness on every page,
It’s your mind I wish to engage.

What stands up inside the poet’s book.

The things I left behind
Nick Moore Jan 2019
As the sediment of memory
settles on the river bed of the mind,
only a little is remembered of what gets left behind.

How I'd like to drill a core sample without getting clinical,
slice up that cylindrical.

Re-examine, re-discover the things I left behind.

Dream Light
Nick Moore Dec 2018
One night it did occur,
Magic carpet's are real and true.

My mattress where I lay in slumber,
My dreams, my magic carpet ride.

While riding one night a thought did arise,
Dreams feature sunshine and light.

Dream light, I could not help theorize
upon a leaf would it
photosynthesize.
Last one this year, have a good one poetry readers.

Low or high
your time is in short supply

Staring at screens

It's not all bad
reconnected with old friends
it's mad

But get it in perspective,

be with them,

Seeing shapes in the clouds
on this exquisite day,
look a horse frolicking in the hay

Now look! A witch
and that little one's starting to look like a cat,
even the top of her head looks like a pointed hat

Some say there's a connection
between mind and cloud,
unconscious patterns
externally stand proud

And on a day like today
it's hard not to believe
it's true.

Jumping for the
highest reach,
to a place never ventured.

A grain of salt appeared

it was all I needed

take it with
a grain of salt,
instant clarity.

The world is like a beehive
don't get to close
no dancing and no jive.

Feel the earth with those feet
gentle and calm
might get something sweet.

Now if you start prodding
paying no respect,
Those bees will take to the wing
You'r going to get a sting.
