And god breathed
Into my nostrils
And I lived
Mike Adam Jun 2020
And I am in love

(Again)

But she no idea has.

How to marry?

How to know

And who we can

Possibly

Be?
Mike Adam May 2020
And I am not Adam

But god breathed anyway
Mike Adam May 2017
And if

After the moon

Died

It said

This is it

This is sad.

No matter

The moon

Like me

Is a fool
Mike Adam Dec 2016
And so
Fog

Descends.

Fields from train
Disappeared

And luxurious
Time

Lost,
Sacrificed

Seabirds shriek
Above the swell

Calmer
Shoals
Bemoan the fate

Of  that fish
The other fish

And then one day
You are old

Glimpse a shop window
And confirm.

And suddenly you are old
With shopping bags and
Taxi driver carrying
To your door.

Bottles and ready meals
The bath too hard,
Work boots unused from the
Cobbler

And suddenly you are old
And yet not old enoght

To die.
Mike Adam Jan 2018
And the sun
Burnt me

And I was

Happy

That summer
Leaf

Do open

How can you not
Lick
That leathery
Offering
Mike Adam Nov 2016
How to hold this rage,
To keep belly-fire
Burning

In righteous anger

As manifold wrongs
Surround.

How to keep this rage
When love balm
Overflows
To calm the furnace

A new leaf
Today-

Love despair
And love
And despair
Mike Adam Oct 2016
Of nothing
Babbling, scribbling
Child of
No thought.

Within complete freedom
I offer this poor
Song to no-one in
Particular

With great
Love and compassion
For all the sufferings
Of the night

You wake,
Startled by the sky,
Wonder if-as senses
Implode-

A flash of Awareness
Can carry Infinity
And be gone.

We crumble ash,
Still warm,
Between our fingers-
Bonfire of some
Extinct Star.

We sleep-
Holding hands,
Cool ash trickling
Between our fingers-

Nothingness pie
Held together
Sheer with inertia-

Unstuck by
Suffering entropy
Anyway.

We wake,
Startled by earth,
Supporting
Overwhelming weight

Of dreams

Today
Older than puny
Time

I laugh in the
Face of the gods
Mike Adam Jun 2019
As if
I
Had never
Been-

That
My friends
Is the way

To die

Can I have a love
even forlorn,
undeserved for sure

Yet still
may I have
just one more love
Mike Adam Oct 2017
Who is the one
In lonely.

From fifty years
All that first love.

We met in the
Hot breath
Between stars-

Eddying cosmic radiation.

You live next door
Mike Adam Mar 2017
I went into the darkness

I did

Where sensible people leave
Alone

And felt the ultimate blackness

I did

It was so cold so sure so

Strong.

Black yang

Not bad

White yin

Not good

No emotion

Good bad
Indifferent

No notion who am
Within

Last leaf drifts

Lazy

From favourite tree.

Dry,

Write a poem,

Crumbling.

Poem, poet and
Leaf decompose

Office girls hitch their skirts

admiring slender thigh

Prince charming rides by

This evening the ball

Out of a silly solar
System

How far to to go?

Out of a silly
Brain pan

How lovely
To know?
Mike Adam Jul 2016
My mind
which was taken
out and pummelled
with sticks, stones
and broken bones,

Is back in this sorry
body

So fat so teddy
bearsd lovable
and cuddly so
fat laughing buddha

Once again and
full of
gratitude to

You

Yes

You

The spine
Brittled
Fired watered
Flexible
Floppy
And
Strong

This spine

So straitened

Bent
Tumbling over

This childlike
Trampolining
Body

Flexible brittle broken
Borne above gravity

The spine stiffening
This will
So long

Yes I am
Your king
And yes you
Queen for me

But I care nought
For farm nor
Industry so

Come meet
Before we eat
The apple

And unashamed

I tickled frog
Beneath the chin

(Grrrdip, Grrrdip)

A little pulse
Belying stillness-

Patient tongue
Awaiting prey.

Threw pebble into
Ancient pond-
(What arrogance
What folly)

And echo bounced
From solid state,
The stone before bang

From the empty
Gourd of his
Emptied mind.

Come, friendly frog-

Jump in

Tidal grief
Wore granite
To grain

Vapour plume
Sprays as Spirit
Does

Soaring-

Ether and never
So close together

Angels may climb
A ladder to
Greatness-

For others

Self soaks wings
With oil
And sinks
Back
Through soil-

Heaven/Hell
All spoil

The waters-

Let the tears

The point of fire
On the promontory

Burning mist

A glimmer

Sign

To ship
Unmasted,
Rudderless

Look
Though ye may not see

Rock
Beneath-

Sans food
Water
Air

This ship of fools

Beware
Mike Adam Apr 2016
Forty day fasting
saw the bear

One true totem
country man
sitting dark winter away

Free to roam
wildly grasping
leaping salmon

In rapids
wet and wild
freely eating

Totem salmon
offering freely
to feed

Before the bang began
this teeming round of
doing, non-doing

Was quiet and calm
the eternal mind.

Begun before the calm
cooled down seared
heat white light

Ineffable rounds
of critical mass
formed-reformed

Abandoned

And left to grow

To love the
Universe-
Dark and harsh

Is hard.

Beneath a
Permafrost of
Not belonging

Possible touch of
Mercurial heat
May welcome

Or burn.

Left alone
Nature proceeds
To order chaos.

Land unploughed
Turns grass, scrub
Forest, each

In turn colonise,
Each more beautiful
Than before

Stars cluster and
Nebulise to galaxy

And my sad
Chaotic life

Shall emanate
(O my soul, in hope)

Splendour
Mike Adam Sep 2016
The little ***
You gave

Kept it so long
The glaze cracked.

By the graceful

Your eyelash-

The best is what I
Forgot.

So forgotten the
Beautiful words
Drunk down and uttered
In foolish sleep.

The best already forgot
The mad old man
Of love and giving

His teeth old bald
Man ripped word from
Your white bodice
Must now
(Please god, please girl)

Be forgiven
