Don't look at gray clouds for answers
Dull, blurry, nondescript
They cloud the mind
With mystery and uncertainty
Here today but gone tomorrow
Like a dream lover

My solitary self came wrapped in blankets
Searching for answers in murky clouds
Illusions shattered
The answer came in darkness
In peaceful awakening
A mystical enigma fills my soul with wonder
And I am never the same

And meanings
Touch your soul

Is there love in a coffeehouse?
Like those silly Hallmark movies?
Coffee is love
But hides in mystery
In laptops and cell phones
In wandering eyes
And ****** musings
In the buzzing sounds of a lovely brew
To be consumed by you

Thankful for you
More than you know
The telepathy runs deep
It's certainly a mystery
Never to be understood
Just let it be

I dreamed of you before I met you
A faceless person
I only saw eyes on me
Puzzled eyes
Accusing eyes
Flirty eyes
Wondering eyes
Adoring eyes
Soulful eyes
Your eyes on me
Took my breath away

Love means always having to say
you're sorry

I've been caught
In a spider's web
Guilty as charged

Eyes searching eyes
In a crowded room
When your smiling eyes meets mine
People disappear
And time stands still
Hypnotize me with your eyes
Craving that drug you give me
When you look at me
Nobody knows
Our secret language
Our fascination
And our fantasies never revealed

Long distance stares
Blurry, nondescript
I've been leading you
Into an abyss
Saw your smile turn
Into a frown
When I'm around
If you look deeper
You'll see the mask I wear
Is only for you

Searches the room
For your smiling face
That brightens my day
But panic sets in
Because you are not there
Don't be gone forever from my sight
There are things I wanted to say to you
Can't let that moment pass without a clue
I needed clarity from you
We all know how this ends
Radio silence till the end

Do the fates know which way it goes?
In many ways fates is a foe
Those ****** goddesses know
They pick the winners
And the losers
And those they hold in limbo
Everything is predestined
In a particular way
To what unfolds day-to-day
Fighting fate will do no good
Because everything turns out as it should

You are an undefined illusion
That adds to my confusion
There will be no resolution
But you cannot disguise the truth
Of your tender smile
And shining eyes
And a faraway voice
Of what could possibly go wrong?

A football game was the call
And I stood tall
A purse full of wishes
Landed in the ditches
Should have trusted my intuitions
On a Trailways bus
Mile after mile
Losing my inhibitions

The red blazer whispered in my ear
Wear me and he will notice you
His eyes flew to me like glue
What else could I do
Except to blush and say thank you
My mind is a bit askew
On how to read you

It's dark at 4:00 p.m.
So I rush to get home
To Wuthering Heights and cardigans
While winter's darkness fills my gothic soul
And seduces me to the ways of the old
There's a sense of romance when everything is covered in snow

Don't be shocked when
A scornful mock
Results in a block

I've been away
But I am back
With more musings in my head

Lights the dark
Gives off heat
And smells sweet

Hi, I'm a raccoon
I climbed a building
To see if I can
Please don't let me land on a moving van
I inched my way to the top
Praying I don't do a belly flop
I needed to rest
So I made a window sill nest
And that seemed to relieve my stress
But I must make it to the top
Because I won't stop
I smell something good
Could it be cat food?
Please God, give me fortitude
I made it to the top
And I didn't drop
I happily ate my cat food
So this is where I conclude

A slip on the ice can ruin your life
An injured hand
Fingers don't bend
Let's not pretend
This is a life in descend
Looking for a godsend
To unbend a hand and
A fragile life to contend

Bullets ringing in my ear
Wondering if death is near
The world is collapsing
Run in fear
Until all is clear
Was it a dream?
Or was it real?

City street stillness in the 1960's
Two hippies pushing a baby carriage down the street
A castle building in my vision  
Playground sandbox and swings
Sun shining through the leaves
A soft summer breeze
Reliving a childhood memory
Ingrained in my brain
Attacking all my senses    
When time stood still  
On that perfect summer day

Slipped and fell on the ice
Broken bone
Broken dreams
Broken hope

Ollie the neighbor's cat peers in my window
Looking for love and a pet
On a cold autumn day
He mingles in the leaves
I wonder what tale he weaves
As he rubs on me
He believes
He owns me
Like a thief
He steals hearts
Like we are sweethearts

Twitter says it's National Poetry Day
But no words come to me today
My inspiration will come back on another day

An August day
When the warm moist air kisses my skin
A dead leaf makes an appearance
Signaling the summer days are all but over
As the days get shorter
The napping cat stretches languorously on the deck
As the hummingbird lands on a flower
Summer slips away every hour

Eleanor Rigby lives next door
She yelled at me once about my gutters
Otherwise no words from her have ever been uttered
Alone in her condo, she putters
Is she lonely or just a ******?
Did she suffer at the hands of a lover
And never recovered?

I spend time alone
In my head
Thinking about things
That might have been
Win or lose?
I look within
A dreary day
Can defeat life's purpose
I choose to look beneath the surface
Everything is done on purpose

A man smelling of spicy after shave
tickles my nose

I wonder if you remember
That day in September
When we were together
I still remember your black sweater
Maybe this could last forever
A memory I will always treasure
A cozy dinner in candlelight
It all felt so right
On that harvest moon night
Came a shining white knight
And a kiss at midnight
But when December came
You were no where in sight
The cold winter darkness came
That ended the light

Rain on my window pane
Droplets connecting into a
single chain
Drop by drop
Again and Again
Into a mellow refrain

Washing the earth
Helping to make the flowers burst
The earth is not cursed
Nothing is perverse
In the universe

When all hope is lost
And your money is dwindling
And your ship is sinking
An angel sent pennies from heaven
It came as a blessing
To end my stressing
To teach me a life lesson, I reckon
Giving me a new direction
To stop the regression and
End my depression

Spinning a web of lies
What is your disguise?
We all have something to hide
Life left you dissatisfied?
And mortified?
Did you fall off by the wayside?
Did I hurt your pride?
Look inside
To your web of lies

I am you
I am me
I am anybody you want me to be
You can try to mold me
But you cannot control me
Or pigeonhole me
So please let me be

I look forward to coffee and donut time
It makes me feel fine
The rain makes it sublime
Coziness is mine
And my loneliness starts to decline

Chocolate ecstasy on my tongue is
melting my troubles away

I smell the earth coming back to life
Breathing in the cool air cleanses my soul
I feel whole
I pick up a flower from the ground
I breath in the sweet scent
Listening to love songs
On the audio
A perfect Sunday stroll

Checkout at the grocery store
I see a penny on the floor
Old lady says don't pick it up
If it's tails, it's bad luck
I wanted to say pennies don't give out bad luck
Destiny has a way of making our lives ****
But instead I just walk away dumbstuck

About daffodils in Spring
What death can bring
Plucked too soon
Blame it on the full moon

Living on a shoestring, but
I'm enjoying my Spring Fling

Another holiday is near and
I am filled with fear
With seeing these people only a couple times a year
Makes me think the invite is insincere
Perhaps no invite this year
Then I'll just stay home, drink a beer and shed a tear

I see children play in urban decay
Boarded up homes with dirt and grime
Certainly not pleasing to the eye
Gray urban sprawl glares at me
Even the trees depress me
A closed door to a once-upon-a-time
That faded away into grime
Afternoon turns into evening
The foreboding wind whistles through
Forcing the trees to blow askew
On a past we once knew

Mystery man at the library
I see how your eyes smiled at me
Wondering what your story might be and
How did you end up working in a library?
My nose in a book as you pass by me
You arise my curiosity
That awakens my sensuosity

Train whistle late at night
Fills me with a melancholy fright
Living in a world that is not right
In the moonlight, past midnight
A late-night blight until the next daylight

Will it be latte, espresso, or tea
Daydream coffee drinker, that would be me
Nat King Cole on the audio
Singing about things I already know
People watch
Coffee cup lipstick blotch
Pours the cream to cool the steam
Fearing what the future will bring
I may be living on a shoesting
In a coffeehouse daydream
Things are better than what they may seem
