Not cupcakes or brownies
or butterscotch drops
Peppermint patties,
nor big lollipops

Caramel ice cream
with sprinkles so nice
Apricot pudding
or pie by the slice

Banana split servings
cinnamon buns
Pink cotton candy
just now freshly spun

Sherbet or popsicles
purple and green
Milkshakes or sodas,
red jelly beans

Oranges, peaches
bananas or plums
Coffee cake, cookies,
their left over crumbs

Chocolate, vanilla
or strawberry too
None are as sweet
as the love found in you

What happens when
the leaves leave,

do the trees cry

ingrained tears,
ringlets of sorrow
counting the years
until comes tomorrow

when leaving
is what happens again

do the leaves cry

I'm sitting here in my office
watching steam rise in cursive swirls
from the black coffee in front of me
on this stormy Friday morning

Staring at nothing in particular,
I allow my thoughts to linger,
becoming completely lost in another
beautiful daydream of you and me

we walk along a secluded beach,
         palm tree shadows sway,
     sand between our toes,
        a sunrise surf lulls hypnotically
in rhythmic tempo whispers as I peer
deeply into your maple syrup eyes,
falling deeper in love with you
          with each longing glance
We kiss and my heart melts
at the feel of your sweet lips
      pressed tightly against mine…

A loud clap of thunder wakes me
as I once again realize where I am,
sitting behind a desk covered in paperwork
and another now cold cup of coffee, but…

There are many more daydreams where
that one came from that will always include
you because… they all originate in my heart
and there’s still hot coffee in the ***
Good morning

The day ends
and with it my smile,
where unanswered thoughts
cling to heavy eyelids,
becoming drowsy,
falling closed,
still not knowing,
what waits for me
tomorrow
and I will not ask......

Dark clouded skies rest heavily
atop a slow motion morning
The faintest of breezes finds me
gazing upon this grey flannel dawn

The ash and chalk dust horizon
pulls my vision across a weary field,
as even the trees still slumber,
glistening dew dripping from each new leaf

Yet inside my heart is warmed
by the sunshine that glows brightly
because of your illuminating love,
cascading upon me in blue sky affection

And I say good morning beautiful
in soft whispers floating far beyond
the ominous heavens hoping to bring
*as wondrous a day to you as you do for me
Good morning Beautiful

Along a fence of winding row
blue morning glories sing
So sweet their early melody,
such happiness to bring

As bumblebees and butterflies
hum perfect harmony
Welcoming a new sunrise
in colors we now see

Tangerine and amethysts
aglow on eastern skies
Dew drops dance upon the lawn
reflecting in our eyes

So peaceful is this dawning day,
amidst a wondrous view
As every day it seems to be
*that I begin with you
Good morning Beautiful

Rain pours down in endless flows,
puddles every where I see
Still your love so brightly glows,
*like the sun inside of me

Precious is the light of every distant star we see
For they are the passageway that brings your love to me
Tiny points a’ sparkling upon the evening sky
Perfect constellations that we both see passing by
~
Miles lie between us as we stand upon this ground
Only in the evening when we can not hear a sound
Do we see the shimmering of heavens up above
Bringing to our very hearts our long desired love
~
Darkness now we find that it shall always be our friend
So that we may use the stars upon our love to send
Silent is the evening that our eyes do come to meet
Whispering affection over nighttime skies we greet
~
Beauty comes in many forms to lighten up our day
Only when the twilight smiles and sends the sun away
Will the stars come shining down from canopies of night
And we find the love we seek now glowing in their light
~
Stand with me this evening even if the clouds exist
Shower me within your love for it I surely miss
Here beneath the galaxies and their most precious view
*So that we may once again embrace our love so true
