"wits" poems
Now this particular girl During a ceremonious april walk With her latest suitor Found herself, of a sudden, intolerably struck By the birds' irregular babel And the leaves' litter. By this tumult afflicted, she Observed her lover's gestures unbalance the air, His gait stray uneven Through a rank wilderness of fern and flower; She judged petals in disarray, The whole season, sloven. How she longed for winter then! -- Scrupulously austere in its order Of white and black Ice and rock; each sentiment within border, And heart's frosty discipline Exact as a snowflake. But here -- a burgeoning Unruly enough to pitch her five queenly wits Into ****** motley -- A treason not to be borne; let idiots Reel giddy in bedlam spring: She withdrew neatly. And round her house she set Such a barricade of barb and check Against mutinous weather As no mere insurgent man could hope to break With curse, fist, threat Or love, either.

Your suffering is always greater than mine, you claim your fears are bigger. Whine your feelings are better than mine, insist my feelings are simpler. Try to laugh my feats away like a joke, but my will is more forward than yours. Now don’t expect any warmth from me, my spirit won’t be ignored. You think you can quiet my defiance? But I'm used to standing alone. Your ego trips never get old they only harden my resolve. So you timidly try and silence me, then make excuses to escape. ‘Cause your wits won't handle me long, I’m the one you can’t sedate.

Cné In my most desperate need seek out a bush by a tree rewarded with a rash on my rear end relieving, with a squat, by poison ivy No thank you, I will take a chance in hopes of saving my *** and hold it until I just can't and avoiding a nasty rash even if it means .... I will possibly *** my pants Temporal Fugue *** the least of your worries as your bladder will expand making you make decisions not all that good, or planned So make your place and keep your wits bear, what you can stand drop your drawers and hold your **** and *** as god, demands

Ahhhhhhh, in the woods ... **** OUCH (Collabration with Temporal Fugue)
To realize, your malice intent, and power hungry destruction of my most hidden and vulnerable ***** I am relieved to be free of your vindictive and spiteful soul; everything about you is abrasive, brooding and angry, vicious and ugly That person,  so gentle and endearing is lost, I am not so sure he even exists, just one of your many disorderly personas And to think of my pain, self-mutilating thoughts and attempts to make sense of the shock trying to free myself from your lock of enamoring lies. I could feel the end when we had just sprouted, battling my intuition with a fawn dawn heart- with you, I finally felt full after some empty time. But upon reflection of your undeniable misogyny, I thank you! I could not be more thankful for you exiting my life, the confirmation of this delusion we called love, I am so thankful I was tricked, you see, without honesty, I could only give you so much, and only that much, is what you could take away from me- Leaving behind such vitality and adventurous expression, Charm, wits and sentiment for living the performer in me you never could accept, Merely shaking the strength only a woman could have. You could never break me, although you tried- and in that I find pity, that you feel so small You seek power in destroying a lover like breaking a heart is a triumph, You are no huntsman and I am not your doe I refuse to be your object for show

Even though a lion is trained to keep it's mouth shut, it doesn't mean it can't learn around it. Stardust has seen and tried to stop me clean of these things that could be. That blackhole won't solve anything, Neither will exploding or imploding myself to wits ends. So let me brief you just this once so listen good and listen well. Like the lion, find your pack. No matter how much the storms rain down hell, find a way to dispel. Write these records, create a contraption to annoy the rains away. But if there's nothing you can do, and trust me I know cause it's something we've all been through, go to shelter and let the damage be done. Tomorrow we begin a new, and work around it with your crew, they may know what to do. It's an experience we all handle. It's a long life battle. But at least we're not alone.

ᗩIᑎᕼᗩᖇᗩ ~ ⚪♫⚪ ~ Out of the Palace, into the Queen's Garden. *'One that could rival King Paul's Luciuscemian Gardens,'* she thinks as she walks under the high cream arches and Grecian columns with ivy vines coiling around them. She stands on the white marble steps. *'Truly, this is the Queen Mother's finest work yet...'* ~ ⚪♫⚪ ~ The young Queen Lyn spares no expense in expanding her library, filling it with leather-bound books and scrolls, new and old. She spares no expense when it comes to her love for herbal teas, near and far... But her mother? ~ ⚪♫⚪ ~ The Queen Mother is known for her keen eye, fast wits, bladed tongue and for her love for fashion, gardening and a frugal nature. *'Like frugal mother, like bookish daughter!'* Ainhara can not help but to chuckle. ~ ⚪♫⚪ ~ She watches as the gardeners trim the mint-green grass, beech hedges and shrubby. But what Ainhara marvels most are the flowers. Pots of lavender and roses, rosemary and mint are placed around carefully, by the white lilies, orange lilies, yellow lilies, flushing lilies. ~ ⚪♫⚪ ~ She notices that green lilies and blue lilies; the gifts from Queen Yidna; plants native to her Puhan Kingdom, are in full bloom. They remind her of the colours of the Seas that she, Esshi and Lyn had sailed when they visited Queen Yidna. *'Puhan has the calmest seas of the brightest colours,'* She recalls how her Queen was happy and relaxed then...

Freezing dusk is closing Like a slow trap of steel On trees and roads and hills and all That can no longer feel. But the carp is in its depth Like a planet in its heaven. And the badger in its bedding Like a loaf in the oven. And the butterfly in its mummy Like a viol in its case. And the owl in its feathers Like a doll in its lace. Freezing dusk has tightened Like a nut ******* tight On the starry aeroplane Of the soaring night. But the trout is in its hole Like a chuckle in a sleeper. The hare strays down the highway Like a root going deeper. The snail is dry in the outhouse Like a seed in a sunflower. The owl is pale on the gatepost Like a clock on its tower. Moonlight freezes the shaggy world Like a mammoth of ice - The past and the future Are the jaws of a steel vice. But the cod is in the tide-rip Like a key in a purse. The deer are on the bare-blown hill Like smiles on a nurse. The flies are behind the plaster Like the lost score of a jig. Sparrows are in the ivy-clump Like money in a pig. Such a frost The flimsy moon Has lost her wits. A star falls. The sweating farmers Turn in their sleep Like oxen on spits.

The Warm and the Cold
*I lost my innocence in a battle of wits Over a dinner of boiled rice and fried meats His debate ground my overrated intelligence to bits But it wasn't time, I wouldn't call it quits We went on to the starlit, moonful park We weren't sightseeing, I had to hit my mark Everything I said was turned down with a reasonable reason The more I tried to win the more I kept losing We walked and talked and I realized That our supposedly romantic dinner had been politicized As we stood on my porch and called it a night His lips touched mine, I didn't put up a fight I laid a final claim in regards to our banter His keen eyes widened I'd given him something to ponder Later that night, I received his call He asked for a rematch, I smiled, there'd be another date after all*

The Second Date
For this my mother wrapped me warm, And called me home against the storm, And coaxed my infant nights to quiet, And gave me roughage in my diet, And tucked me in my bed at eight, And clipped my hair, and marked my weight, And watched me as I sat and stood: That I might grow to womanhood To hear a whistle and drop my wits And break my heart to clattering bits.

In the world of man any woman could be it and though it was you who was enchanted blame it on her; her wits, her charm, her garment. Make a bonfire, we're branching out   truth hidden by the sound of chants joined in a primal dance, inner circle only she’ll be the one burned alive.

His: My palms were sweaty and heavy, but perhaps the heaviest thing about them were the two concert tickets I was gripping tightly in my left hand. Hers: His smile was like a bonfire; warm and you always wanted to bring your body closer just to feel more of that warmth. His palms were also sweaty. Some of my friends say it was gross, but I will always remember it as one of the most charming things about him. His: I picked her up around 7. Met her parents and said we'd be home by midnight. Her father likes the Cardinals. I'm a Cubs fan. Yeah... Hers: My father is a Cardinals fan, and he was a Cubs fan. But, what I didn't tell him, was that my mother was a Cubs fan too. My father won't say it, but he approved of him instantly. Mom, if you can hear me up there, thank you. His: Her father scared the living daylights out of me. We came back at 12:06, and her father says "You're six minutes late young man! That's it! You're not allowed to..." and as my heart is sinking he says "I'm just kidding bud. Thanks for getting her home safe." She still won't let me live that down. Hers: He was so sweet to my parents, even after dad tried to scare him out of his wits, he said, "Sir, with all do respect that may have just been the most mortifying moment of my life." I walked him out, still teasing him. With this sassy looking face and a furrowed brow he kissed me goodnight and said "I only got scared because we've only just begun." I think that's when I fell in love with him. His: Good God I must have looked like a ***** I ask her jokingly every now and again "When did you fall in love with me?" All she does is chuckle and say "When dad scared the hell out of you." I think what scares me more now, is that I know there's a part of her that's serious, and I like that. I don't really understand why, I just do. Hers: I couldn't wait to see him again. I asked mom and dad what they thought of him and mom said "He's a keeper." Dad said "He reminds me of your mother; Clumsy, easy to tease, but you can't help but love the kid." Mom punched him on the shoulder and then gave dad a kiss. They both agreed and said "We'll allow it." I was so happy to hear that.

All throughout History, It's always been a mystery. The most unlucky of days, On this day we change our ways. Careful what we do, Careful when we tie our shoe. Stay in and lock your door, Don't get up off the floor. Black cats and spilled salt, The broken mirror is not my fault! Avoiding ladders and a sidewalk crack, Being on guard we do not lack. Some say it's a day of fun, Others shiver, hide, and run. Some say it's black magic that comes out today, Some say that it's demons here to stay. Whatever your superstition on this very day, Everyone's wits will shred and fray. The day of bad luck comes only so often, Let's just pray it doesn't lead to a coffin.

Genial poets, pink-faced earnest wits— you have given the world some choice morsels, gobbets of language presented as one presents T-bone steak and Cherries Jubilee. Goodbye, goodbye, I don’t care if I never taste your fine food again, neutral fellows, seers of every side. Tolerance, what crimes are committed in your name. And you, good women, bakers of nicest bread, blood donors. Your crumbs choke me, I would not want a drop of your blood in me, it is pumped by weak hearts, perfect pulses that never falter: irresponsive to nightmare reality. It is my brothers, my sisters, whose blood spurts out and stops forever because you choose to believe it is not your business. Goodbye, goodbye, your poems shut their little mouths, your loaves grow moldy, a gulf has split the ground between us, and you won’t wave, you’re looking another way. We shan’t meet again— unless you leap it, leaving behind you the cherished worms of your dispassion, your pallid ironies, your jovial, murderous, wry-humored balanced judgment, leap over, un- balanced? ... then how our fanatic tears would flow and mingle for joy ...

Goodbye To Tolerance
Hunting has a noble heritage, for sure Bringing us together, it forged a species Keen-eyed, communicative, feared by the fierce                So who am I to begrudge you your sport? I, too, love wide open skies, tramping over bog and fen, I even quite like dogs! I imagine nature might reveal herself to you In signs jealously guarded from the armchair carnivore. I can almost reconcile your harsh percussion With the croak of the raven, the sloshing tide And the chewing and mooing of cattle. But the pheasant!  For the love of God, the pheasant? It can hardly be a battle of wits! I've seen him as he sits, a big, red bullseye On fences and ***** Startled by every day he survives. How stirring can it be, Picking off the ones the cars and lorries never got? When you carry him home, Better off dead, Hang him in your garage for a week Feeling like Henry VIII, Cut him down, slit him open and find the crop Stuffed not with heather shoots and beetles But with half a pound of store-bought grain (Generously laced with antibiotics) - I hope the realisation creeps up That you may as well have asserted yourself In the hen coop, Blasting away at befuddled poultry And saving yourself a walk.

The Pheasant
When cats run home and light is come, And dew is cold upon the ground, And the far-off stream is dumb, And the whirring sail goes round, And the whirring sail goes round, Alone and warming his five wits, The white owl in the belfry sits. When merry milkmaids click the latch, And rarely smells the new-mown hay, And the **** hath sung beneath the thatch Twice or thrice his roundelay, Twice or thrice his roundelay; Alone and warming his five wits, The white owl in the belfry sits.

Quite a picture of a happy woman ... in love ... or falling in love perhaps - two rows across me. Her earphones are plugged to her ears, but she is listening to no song. She is busy; typing messages - perhaps whatsapp!. Someone is teasing her ... must be quite adept at it. It has to be a boy ... not yet her boyfriend. Her smile ... her blushes ... are giving away the truths hidden in their secret flirtations. She has to wrack her wits ... she must win this war of words. She purses her lips and her cheeks cave into a lovely dimple .... that flattered glitter in her eyes has enough for a novel to begin. She is determined to reply to this message and is scanning the lounge through the corner of her eyes as if we have a cue to offer. Her head tilts and a strand of hair falls across her temple curling in a single curve from her thick eye brows to her lips, presently secured between a thoughtful bite of her teeth. The dimples are back again ... and her smile tells me that she finally has won this conversation ... and my mind tells me that while the war of words is her to win ... she has pleasurably lost the battle of hearts.

I see the boy I used to be not in a dream but on the street. He walks alone without a beat or rhythm in his feet. He kicks a stone. His mobile phone is glued to his cheek. He seems the very model of a troubled teenage tearaway. Nothings lead to nothings, lead to nothing honest he can say. He knows what others think he is and he’s terrified. He thinks enough to know that he was born lost. He doesn’t toil his wits, unwind a coil of ignorance or dabble in some dissonance. He speaks with recycled bits of other people’s words. He likes to quote celebrities who like to speak in major keys, who comfort him like family and apathy. He knows their faces better than his own. He remains featureless but will cast the first stone.

The boy I used to be
Step by step , my sword feels heavier, the rain a billowing distraction, your face in my thoughts, a crime I always tend to commit, instrumental skill is needed, my wits stay sharp, a forest full of noise, my presence is known, seven pairs of eyes watch, my steps and actions, the silent face, before death, I kneel to slow my motion, eyes closed, the rain falls, eyes open, they appear, seven deadly distractions, I move fast with intensity, ten slashes, bodies fall, I stand breathing alone, my motion ceases, the rain washes the blood, each **** an expression of you, your eyes my true weakness, you may never know this, my sword is drawn back, the stroll resumes, you sleep silently, the rain falls harder, my heart follows in parallel….

Aye, Vladimir, just before I met thee I hath been sure I hath loved him- no matter as queer as it may hath seemed! Thou knowest not, how much tears I hath shredded and noticest not, how t'eir vanity made me look dead! But why-why then didst thou appear- and wokest within me t'is secret fear- with understanding in thy eyes, and with a love t'at is to me so dear. Why-why t'en thou left me, left me again! Whenst I got to knowest thou but for a moment, ah, with not so much of an endearment- afforded ourselves only t'at streak of lovely, but still weak of too a bond, or any pact, of young novelty. And everything was corrupt As soon as thou re-released me into t'ese qualms of insincerity wherest I am still tossed about, guilty. And hushed, hushed always, like a trivial, parallel wind! As though my dear heart's bathed in sin and of a soul t'at is so thin So worthy not of thy soulfulness and sweet dreams of many happinesses. Ah, Vladimir! If only thou could knowest T'is thread of passion thou hath sowed and how my entirety seekest being loved By thee, and only by thee, o my rain! As thou art but king to my sneaky moon and my very own kingdom of stars Not him-not him, o t'is I entreat, albeit his wits hath been but to me so sweet. Still he be a mistake, ah, a chilly autumn mistake to me, from whom I didst just turn awake. Probably thou would hath loved me; imperishably and blindingly, until all thy superb charms and wit t'at wert but tortured and unbending shalt be left within me lit; and thus leaving our fiery souls entwined with winds t'at art even sweeter yet might be torturously everlasting. Vladimir, Vladimir, oh my only Vladimir! Thou altogether belongst with me; here, so unjustly yet heavenly And in our hands is cherished our love, o, so wickedly-but fatefully! How I longst to be thy lover, dearest- and be so comely as thy only flower; which ripens thickly in thy winter and blooms robustly, in thy summer.

Guilt

Brother Iran by Michael R. Burch Brother Iran, I feel your pain. I feel it as when the Turk fled Spain. As the Jew fled, too, that constricting span, I feel your pain, Brother Iran. Brother Iran, I know you are noble! I too fear Hiroshima and Chernobyl. But though my heart shudders, I have a plan, and I know you are noble, Brother Iran. Brother Iran, I salute your Poets! your Mathematicians!, all your great Wits! O, come join the earth’s great Caravan. We’ll include your Poets, Brother Iran. Brother Iran, I love your Verse! Come take my hand now, let’s rehearse the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. For I love your Verse, Brother Iran. Bother Iran, civilization’s Flower! How high flew your towers in man’s early hours! Let us build them yet higher, for that’s my plan, civilization’s first flower, Brother Iran. Brother Iran
Flamingos aren't naturally pink But not for the reason most think They preen and they dye And they leave it to dry Before rinsing it off in the sink The magpies send me into fits The ducks have me losing my wits The crows are a blight And they crow all night But I do enjoy watching the **** Vanessa McRafferty-Fryer Set alight to the **** of her squire She took a few shots Of his privatest spots And then laughed as he ****** out the fire A penguin called Panama Pete Had no love of the snow on his feet So he stayed for a spell At the polar hotel With a pool and Jacuzzi en suite I met a quite curious swan By a lake I was boating upon It tickled my *** And insulted my mum With a flurry of wings, it was gone I know of a Gerald McFitz Who arouses himself when he sits For his favorite chair Is the shape of a pair Of voluptuous wobbly **** and one for that special someone... Your pancreas really is grand Tis a thoroughly marvelous gland You've a cute little spleen Though it's seldom seen And a nose growing out of your hand **
