"waxing" poems
It finally stopped raining, after endless hours of trying to fall into the deep rhythms of sleep. But the rain just kept tapping on the windows while the wind blew like the Big Bad Wolf, those **** plastic window frames groaning. I lay flat on my back while you were there by my side. We watched as the stars slowly reappear into the night sky, the moon waxing. We had our sweaters on to keep the nasty cold bite out, yet I was comfortable where I was, the warmth between us enough. Our bond, stronger than ever. CRACK went the lightning, and I awoke with a startle. The wind was heaving pellets of rain to my window as the frame bent and swayed in response to the wind's force. I got up to look outside and I saw: nothing; It was dark, empty, and very cold chilled to the bone. *not again is it really difficult to want something that tastes so sweet yet feels so painful*

Bitter Sweet
The billowing sea bows down dancing, the cool one comes— with love, as if with a flute on the lips, rising from the deep. Listen to the flute. Chorus clouds sing, drifting down the blue river— so mellifluous, into the sky they soar! From the secret valley, the punter sun ambles in, carrying wonderlight, as if it knows the flutist’s art— knows the rise from the sea’s bedrock. Every planet spins— a flying bee drawn to the inner music. Nothing pauses in the solar ring. The Moon, waning and waxing, in silhouette and half-light, sways above the sea full of life. It all began on this Earth, from our sea— Him, the Sweet Creative Maestro rose from the midst, and lifted the sun, the bumblebee. All the stars in the galaxy follow still— they can't forget the ancient story. Since then, the sun, brightest in the band, leads the mindful dance enduring, homeward— still following the haunting, eternal tune, pure mighty the one command: Qun. Be.

Music in Space
Art, a smile like the one on the face of Mona Lisa. Curved like the waxing moon above the sea. Light a flame before a face yet to be seen. What will it prevail, will it show once for all a slow tilt on the smiling lips —a curve softly locks on a rose from the sun, or a shadow beneath the moon?

Smile Like Mona Lisa: I Didn’t Need to See Her
The mother is first— she is for all and down to earth. She, the mother Fathima, descended from uncharted Heaven— that pivotal frontier only the Prophet of all prophets has seen. Then, there was no Adam, nor Eve, nor even Jibreel. Every star across the seven skies wishes to kiss that golden dust. Not to mention the Moon at the center, waning and waxing—openly and secretly— unleashing its longing to rub this non-sublunary piece against its forehead. She knows—only then the rough seas beneath her will calm, bathed in the soft raining moonlight, rubbing off upon a lucky, blossomed forehead. Oh, if only— scarcely could they ever see it! The galaxies, since their inceptions, have longed for it. The bliss of the eyes—tucked away from the scene. Paradise lies beneath the mother’s feet! It finds its core, its resonant lore, in the shadow of the original feminine—Fathima. There, the original matter explored; Paradise breathed beneath her— but she touched down at the heart of the Earth without stepping or touching on Paradise, only to give her stake away to others. No land she would take on her way back, indeed. Not in her name. Do you know where Fathima’s grave is?

Fathima Hailed From Pivotal Heaven
Casualty: my interest fading Once waxing moon now seen waning And I did concede your irksome warning And watched as the rest played out So let bygones be gone, fallen out by the side Of this road, worn down, still restless, keeping straight Eyes glinting off token little bits of hospitality Mother nature being so inclined at times The stress so unnerving, I hardly doubt it But tension is eased once it comes to acceptance And I accept in full, finding time to unwind Winding stretch of lonely road, dotted here and there by An occasional landmark Or a lonely tractor pulling behind it Iron bars, old and rusted Found in their hold Bales of hay or A small little pond With a bench beside it Holding initials carved against the grain With a heart surrounding As mine beats slower At last, the sun begins going down And the moon grows brighter Even in its state And my feet move faster Though my body is withering I feel this separation growing As my mind takes flight and leaves me Behind, in the twisting twilight And alone, I walk along

... I Wish I Were the Moon
Every atom is lenient towards the human being streaming up from the deep root they spur laying down the perfect descending of the stars. They can take on the stellar in their deep club that shows up opening the windows up in the sky and down on to the earth cast their eyes! The slim fit sharp atom knows all the shortcuts constantly vibrating not a single star can catch nor will it ever thin out – it has the extraordinary stroke of luck. But the eyes are on the humans not over the amber.  Dreaming to be physically absorbed within the human being to be in the human’s divine proportion ever transcendental a far cry from the sun and the moon but with it both gel together!  Once they came so close almost touched the dream they rose to the occasion, squaring the circle, laser scanning through, as above so below, so humble. Submitted them without waxing lyrical took the brush off the colour bowl of the day then blindfolding the moon in the night reached out to the paragon of the phi mania, flawlessly made to measure, numerically perfect Fathima! Presented themselves before her as pure blank whereon she can jot like her chalkboard or do as she please like she could show up taking it as her shadow in silhouette, she exactly did that. Touched down on the earth, in the veil and revealed her as above so below. The ocean moved stirred the water but none saw the sunshine behind the full moon in bloom that steals the starry night. Day in day out Fathima did all in a veil she lived and gone. Keeping the atom on its toe ever honing tracing the footprint in its own shadow as once a human being without a mark crept in it lived in pi magic and leaped out!

On being overweight (whatever that means) Even if you were the moon, they would complain about how much space you took up in the sky, how you were too bright, wanted too much from the stars, demanded more light than the others. And when you shifted, from waning to full to waxing to waning, they would remind you of how instable you were, how much of a hassle it was to keep track of your instability, your need for attention. Have you tried to be a vegan yet? All the stars are doing it. You have tried. In fact, last week was your third try – an attempt, they call it – not enough, they emphasize, try again, they say this as if it is encouragement. That’s when you found them - the celestial crescent, the earthshine, the perilune, how the lacus are lakes without lakes, why the Gibbous is brighter either way, especially during conjunction – all strung together in pearls. You are a full the night you return. As you reflect off the lake, you see Selene, Hecate, Mani, Tsukuyomi, Iah, and Thoth. You tell the stars to look, to breathe your reflection, to succumb to the glow and the beauty of it all, that you are not alone— They laugh. Say how historical that is, how out-of-touch you are, how myths aren’t mirrors, how you - you are not a mystery at all. But when you died – if you died – (we still do not know) - they do not wonder where you went. They spin, spin, spin the entire night home, only once confessing to how empty the sky is without your shine. But every night they burn.

In her gauzy garments Above the bowing trees The moon has many lovers In the sighing breeze. They all take her dancing In exotic lands They give her sparkling diamonds They kiss her milk-white hands. She is round & fullsome Or slender as a waif When she is then waning Her flowers are kept safe. Silken skeins of darkness When she's waxing full Are parted by her brightness She is NEVER dull! Her beaux are all so courtly But she eschews them all Her only love can make her pale She burns at his call... She lets out her moonbeams Through her eyes they weep She loves the one eclipsing her They can NEVER meet! She, so strong within her court Will curtsey when he comes The moon has many lovers But she's taken by the SUN. Catherine Jarvis (C) 12/14/2019

The Moon Has Many Lovers
The world is small even heaven isn't big but an uncreated Word is, an expression of love and promise! The tale of the beginning the tale of the end without the ending. Soon God said it 'Qun' be bang it couldn't be bigger indeed. Everything small and big the complete creations panache came to be so big! The body is small the soul came in the front and every soul big banged in one go. All heard the same Word it was only one that sets the tone for the first to the last so sweet it took everyone’s heart! The death wouldn’t touch the soul that already died but couldn’t die. Revived there and then instantly, hearing the 'Qun' the uncreated melody! Crooned up even through the dead-end surged up to the other side of the black hole. Like a waxing Moon passed over, crossing the asleep body in the shadow, yet in the making! Unable to resist it, the first big bang didn’t happen amidst the material entity not in the star, milky way or in the galaxy. Adam was yet to be in the body the physical ear was yet to hear it! Unlike the tuned in abyss soul there that harks and the clouds rise and rain only to revert back to the sea showering the shallow terraqueous body. He said ‘Qun’ again and the first physical big bang on the matter takes place in Fathima’s joint interlacing her live soul and pre-design body. It cuts through the irrational pi in between the soul and body so that gel in melody! With pure love without a condition that shall keep up perpetuating the body! Nature that was yet to be, gets a mirror in its entirety and bangs big hearing an echo of ‘Qun’ be, says the Almighty it comes to be and shall perish only to be an eternal body!

My heart I bequeath you O’ stillness of my universe I bequeath you my sanity Spreading this cloak of being in your dust I bow to your twinkling stars To the waxing sun and scented grass I bow to your springing rivers To the parched grain and blossoming flowers I bow to the warmth of my lover And want of my beloved I bow to your saccharine figs And honeyed nectar in chalice filled I bequeath my mortality to your transiency Blinded by this light in game of ruse Into your cohesiveness, I fuse In blinkers to win the race Espying a king in glass Presage of being a slave Yet when darkness falls I furl my cloak and solemnly rise For I bow not then To your barren fields and waning suns I bow not to your garish colors, To the cloying drupe and wilted blossoms Bracing my feeble transience With my tenet and trail of faith I bow to the King of kings; Whilst I beseech for emanating hope, In my tigers clasp, my God’s rope I beseech, Till the noise becomes music again And as I gaze in the glass now, All I espy is a beseeching slave

How sweet the honeysuckle lattice
Ambling in a full-moon night let alone the Moon I only asked for a star. Because I wanted to be in tune with the half-lit sky. But none did stop by me not even the little firefly. Oh, from nowhere but from the colour black off it's sea of different shades the night pops out. While the Moon indeed was painting in the dark. Though every star kept an wide-open eye. But no one wanted to tell where did the night scurry away before the very blink of the waxing Moon's eyes!

AT THE THINNING OF THE VEIL
Through an open window, I hear       the Big Thompson's steady music drifting up from the valley below. May breezes and gentle rains      coax the snow-capped peaks to surrender their alabaster cloaks       downslope into gathering streams. Silhouetted by light from the waxing moon,       a cinnamon bear lopes along water’s edge, pauses for a draught and meanders on. A bull elk newly coifed with velvet antlers         folds his legs beneath its belly and kneels into grasses beside a tranquil pond.         while the Big Thompson rushes on. Spring beauties, calypso orchids and geraniums          shake off their winter's sleep and dot every vagabond trail and verdant hill         while fresh new leaves adorn the aspen boughs. The Big Thompson inexorably presses on         bound for rendezvous with time and space and tumbles into the always patient sea. © 2017 by Robert Charles Howard

Tree, I have come to shelter and with the rain to weep I am soaked, barefoot with mud running through. Soft the moss, cool and cold to soothe my heart that bleeds. Our waxing nights of love and moons now fallow, a field that burns. ****** our hollow bed of haunting, silent screams too soon the fiery devil too far my lover the spring.

The little zero is big magic. Count on any number in the number set. Zero can give the heaps the giant leap, yet no number can square it, not even the complete set of digits. Science trailing through the zero and one   leads the digital age, continues to grow. What's in a number is in the know, but what's in a zero? Now let’s take a trip into the matrix without the arithmetic pill of the zero orb. This time let it be with a poetic dose! Should you not bask in the sun, dipped only dew-deep, shimmering in the sea of its deep shadow in one little drop? Can you touch a moon up high, waxing lyrical   above the billowing ocean?

The Wonder of The Digital Age is a Zero
[new moon] Moon girl is breath and curve. She catches light and throws it back to the universe. You see her and tremble, falling, as she once must have done from some heavenly place. [waxing crescent] Moon girl is wild. You follow her into the forest where she steps barefoot into a stream and takes your hand, water swirling over her feet and hers. She talks about roots and branches and flight. You are in love. [first quarter] Moon girl is dancing. Moving her body, dynamic, unpracticed elegance, shaping space, graceful, unafraid of audience, unafraid of pause, unafraid to bend and swish and rise, flying, electric, boundless. She gets everywhere. In your morning tea, clouds, April storms, wrapped in sparkling strung-out melodies, and especially in your head. You dream of waist, skin, movement holding her and warmth, closeness, desire kissing her and your heart burns soft inside your chest, a lantern lit by lunar beams. [waxing gibbous] Moon girl gives you violets. You give her your hands, open; your heart, open; your soul, open. You give her everything, or you try. [full moon] Moon girl is with you, always, this silver fire here in the filth and blood and terror, head on your shoulder, palm on your skin, speaking to you in ways language cannot, grounding you, saving you, saying your name, holy, lifting you up, repeated tenderness, voice low, eyes deep, glorious, and she is steel, she is iron, she is endless. [waning gibbous] Moon girl smiling. Moon girl watching. Moon girl brave. Moon girl rough and sweet. Moon girl creating. Moon girl radiating. Moon girl moving, toward you. Moon girl. Moon girl. Moon girl.

"The first step is always the hardest."  I've recited this over and over in my consciousness. "Grip the rail, tight. " Pursed with dried paint to smooth over the lumps of people gone before you. " You're never the first one to go. " Eyes forward and chin up I gather myself. " It's only stairs, " I say over and over. " It's only stairs," they say. Now, faced with only upward motion. Now, faced with only moving forward. I look out the window to see the moon waning, waxing strong with my ascent. 4x32 are tiles on the floor. 6x15x18 is the case. Hold my hand. Guide me. Guard me through this night. By morning I will have reach this light. "It's only stairs." We say.

The Longest Stair Case
It was a hundred years ago, When, by the woodland ways, The traveller saw the wild deer drink, Or crop the birchen sprays. Beneath a hill, whose rocky side O'erbrowed a grassy mead, And fenced a cottage from the wind, A deer was wont to feed. She only came when on the cliffs The evening moonlight lay, And no man knew the secret haunts In which she walked by day. White were her feet, her forehead showed A spot of silvery white, That seemed to glimmer like a star In autumn's hazy night. And here, when sang the whippoorwill, She cropped the sprouting leaves, And here her rustling steps were heard On still October eves. But when the broad midsummer moon Rose o'er that grassy lawn, Beside the silver-footed deer There grazed a spotted fawn. The cottage dame forbade her son To aim the rifle here; "It were a sin," she said, "to harm Or fright that friendly deer. "This spot has been my pleasant home Ten peaceful years and more; And ever, when the moonlight shines, She feeds before our door. "The red men say that here she walked A thousand moons ago; They never raise the war-whoop here, And never twang the bow. "I love to watch her as she feeds, And think that all is well While such a gentle creature haunts The place in which we dwell." The youth obeyed, and sought for game In forests far away, Where, deep in silence and in moss, The ancient woodland lay. But once, in autumn's golden time, He ranged the wild in vain, Nor roused the pheasant nor the deer, And wandered home again. The crescent moon and crimson eve Shone with a mingling light; The deer, upon the grassy mead, Was feeding full in sight. He raised the rifle to his eye, And from the cliffs around A sudden echo, shrill and sharp, Gave back its deadly sound. Away into the neighbouring wood The startled creature flew, And crimson drops at morning lay Amid the glimmering dew. Next evening shone the waxing moon As sweetly as before; The deer upon the grassy mead Was seen again no more. But ere that crescent moon was old, By night the red men came, And burnt the cottage to the ground, And slew the youth and dame. Now woods have overgrown the mead, And hid the cliffs from sight; There shrieks the hovering hawk at noon, And prowls the fox at night.

The White-Footed Deer

Perhaps I will become a waxing fiend. A perpetrator of the nerves within my legs In order to reach the imaginary beauty that society has ingrained into my open mind. Yet how can I ever fulfil this growing hole inside Urging, commanding that I shall not be beautiful Without Revlon mascara and tinted eyebrows, That my diet must consist of a celery stick a day And I must have a new wardrobe every week - to keep in with the highest of fashions. Do men really care if I'm wearing Gucci or Prada? Would my restricted diet and devotion to thinspiration blogs impress them? Has society really just given up on the love of personality, the good old fashioned 'inner beauty'?

Beauty; In the Eyes of Society
We are each our own moon. Charismatic souls reflecting sunlight, As if to illuminate a room, We glow against black, void; an endless night. Like a caterpillar to a butterfly, emerging from a tight knit cocoon, Spreading each wing, confidently slicing the evening air…taking flight. Or even a flower freshly bloomed on a midsummer’s afternoon. The moon: a flower, silently smiling despite the plight. Aside from what each day shuffles in; each night simmers out No matter how often we feel we have lost ourselves… Or leave way to fill our heads with doubt. With recurring assumptions of a worldwide redemption:omnipotent stealth. Needn't some take longer than others to sprout? Staring blankly into a mirror, or a moonless night sky: hungry for answers, yet facing an empty shelf. However, that doesn't infer we embark on a divergent route. Simply due to lack of clarity, lack of reasoning behind each card dealt. With that in mind, Just as the moon, true colors may dwindle…they may fade, yet in essence are always there. Even on a cloudy day, or when the sunshine is at its peak…and just as well for the blind. Full moon, half moon, new moon…waxing, waning: dynamic phases the night sky shares. Moon phases;moody faces…natures way of emphasizing personality defined. Notwithstanding the dark side, each moon may wear. Like a guilty pleasure manifesting in a secret shrine, We all suppress a certain side; to pompous to face reality genuinely bare. Fragments of our faces may always be hidden, But there’s one thing that will never absorb into the eclipse: emotion. Some figure each phase, each wave of vibes … simply fate already written. Devils advocate begs to differ… let your mind emit all distraction and harmonize with the ocean. Effervescent rays, warm barrels in which emotions, old and new, have ridden. Chaotically contradicting thoughts, pulling and pushing, creating the paradox of serene commotion. A world of words from each moon face: a beautiful encryption. We are each our own moon, written in the waves, compelled by life’s devotion.
