do i think about                                           you a little too,
too, much? tossing and                              turning at night is not
enough, yearning for a simple                   touch. one on my shoulder stating, "hey, what's really up?" do i talk about you a little too much? my voice, unwinding and in a frenzy (so over-the-top). hoping that you'd–you’d speak to me. infatuated in your delightful smile, nothing else is worthwhile to contemplate over. after relishing the strides of your graceful walks, the stifled laugh that makes my eyes twinkle,
the sweet acts of kindness, the exaggerated pick-up lines,
the hilarious jokes that make me laugh 'till my stomach
shrieks for help, i can't put into words how much I
freaking love you, although you're only a crush.
i'm madly in love you. i really hope that
me and you will love each other forever.
sadly, this is only a figment of my
imagination. sadly, love is
only an elaborate
illusion.

Who do you have a crush on?
lX0st Sep 2018
You look so lovely
In blue
Arched back
Arms slack
Cerulean licks
Wrist to wrist
Shoulder dip
Eyes languid
Cloudy cyan
Gripping blankets
Robin’s silky velvet
Billowing, curling
Unfurling into
Midnight hues

We're forced, each man, to walk a trialed path—
resisted trek, uphill through blinding daze
that shrouds with crucible's perplexing haze
till fog-white skies yield quick to black clouds' wrath.
Affliction brims a thorny pack to bear
whilst dewy darkness drenches in the night,
but where is calming lamp to lend us sight?
And who will come to give us saving care?
Here through veil is heard a whisper certain,
then o'er the mountain creeps the dawning day
and with clear eyes we see the brume give way
as God retracts His theatre's curtain,
unsheathing velvet waves whose morning sheen
beyond grey mist splays vast and wondrous green.

"I will exalt You, LORD,
for You lifted me out of the depths
and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
LORD my God, I called to You for help,
    and You healed me.
You, LORD, brought me up from the realm of the dead;
You spared me from going down to the pit.
Sing the praises of the LORD, you His faithful people;
    praise His holy name.
For His anger lasts only a moment,
    but His favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
When I felt secure, I said,
    'I will never be shaken.'
LORD, when You favored me,
    You made my royal mountain stand firm;
but when You hid Your face,
    I was dismayed.
To You, LORD, I called;
to the Lord I cried for mercy:
'What is gained if I am silenced,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise You?
    Will it proclaim Your faithfulness?
Hear, LORD, and be merciful to me;
    LORD, be my help.'
You turned my wailing into dancing;
You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing Your praises and not be silent.
LORD my God, I will praise You forever."

Leigh May 2015
The tide collects it all by morning;
The drama and the ***** napalmed across the path.
The scenes at second warning for most had been swept away
Before they wiped the sand from their shoes.

Empty cans of Dutch and Tuborg slouched on the dunes
Are tight-lipped about the Velvet Strand's secret ecosystem;
An underground microcosm;
A peripheral cluster of seething emotions drowned.

Memories of those years - although some expired,
The vestiges take pride of place - hold a cosmic clump of smells,
Tastes, firsts, goosebumps, hangovers, and ends.
I never before understood what I was holding on to.

Winters down in the shelters nearly killed us but we
Huddled through the cold, lit cheap firelogs and
Found our oblivion. It didn't take much for me to develop
A stagger - tolerance for a lot of things was learned later.

I narrowly recall my first taste of poor judgement and
Hazy-headed stargazing. Six cans of Stonehouse
Dry cider - most of which ended up on the hillside -
Was a ridiculous endeavour that will always be sublime.

At the heart of it, I did it to impress a girl;
The one every boy has or has had that sticks;
Who holds your firsts and your hands and makes
Things simple if only for her complexity;

The one that never fails to bring upon digression when
Pens are involved. Revisiting reminiscence on a jarring note,
I think of my Junior Cert exams and a cross-dressed man
Exposing himself to two uniformed boys behind the public toilets.

This one doesn't stir the joy of the others.
This one I wish would dissolve;
An ugly, awkward blotch on a childhood.

Luckily fondness trumps disgust when recalling that place
Because of sunrises and sunsets absorbed from the roof.
The Summers spent jumping the gap and drowning in the
Heat of the sun were everything.

The fugitive sand between our toes and under finger nails
Became an accepted nuisance, a part of the territory;
A lingering grain or two to drag you back.
I miss waking up with the smell of last night's faded fire.

I.
The moon sings the languid flower,
  to bloom at midnight hour
Harmonious feast transpires -
  luminescent choir

Petals mirror la hue de Luna,
  but pale below her glow
Though the desert sweet aroma,
  is fragrance plus photo

Neither causing nightly failure,
  in idyllic charm
In fact, those powers are greater,
  together than apart

II.
The moon a long gone distant rock,
  yet pulls on ocean tops
Cereus lures with sweetest tricks,
  and stings with countless licks

Battered holy asteroid face,
 woos flawless solar gaze
And even though it causes mire,
  lunar eclipses fire

The cactus thrives in driest sands,
  and chokes in fertile lands
Alluring lonesome wanderers,
  promising mere water

The lucid beauty bewilders,
as much as it can haunt
In fact, those powers are greater,
  together than apart

III.
You, once my cereus and moon,
were drowned in my love well
Perhaps, I was this to you too,
though your hole I’d not delve

However, what was first velvet,
  morphed into devil’s horns
Winter shed those thorns in my chest,
now spring gifts hope and more

The icy grips of each winter,
  provides spring fuel to spark
In fact, those powers are greater,
  together than apart

IV.
Although we've gone on our own ways,
  I wouldn’t change the past
For each step was necessary,
to find true love at last

We were once greater together.

I’m now greater apart.

I wanna scream professions of love.

Resounding exclamations of my infatuation for you.

I wanna tell the world the feelings I feel for you and kiss you like it's the last thing I'll ever do.

I wanna feel the sunlight from your skin as my heart burns while beating against yours.

I just wish I had the courage to tell you this.

I wish I could find the words when I'm with you.

I wish my lips could speak as well as apparently they can kiss.

I wish that I could tell you that you are what is missing from my heart, that you are the one part that makes my world able to revolve on its axis.

It's so hard being so in love with someone, frustrating, **** near exhausting and all I wanna do is hear the velvet of your voice as it drips like honey into the room and I can tell you I love you.

I been quiet for so long and it hurts.

The night was velvet
Goose bumps arrived
While nails slide across the chalkboards
Habit

Screeching
Everone was reaching
For their eardrums
                     Grabbin'

And I was sittin in the middle of this scene
Sandwhiched

I took out my note pad
And started scribblin
              Some scrabble
And here is what I wrote
In the bibble of my babble
~

The night was velvet
Soft in deep colors
And I was visually drowning
In the sea of misunderstanding
With the rest of the others

They wanted me to describe
The drastic destiny of why
We are all here

And when will we all die

On the last night you remembered
                            The night was velvet

The touch that affected you different
You felt that moment

The purpose of you being
Was alive in the breath you spoke
And when you spoke it
You said you'd die

When the life around you exploded

I couldn't question the answer
So I answered the question
Life is just a history of  lesssons

To test your knowledge of learning
What the gift is

And you've learned
The night was velvet

A soft downey skin
Tufted along the fabric of life in sin

When will this all end
As the goosebumps spark fear
In my head hoping I'm not accountable
For everything I did

I think about all I have read
And hope that it is adequate

But I feel the only thing that I've learned

Is...

The night was velvet

I do solemnly swear,
That forever more,
I shall live in a world
All on my own.
A world that consists of
Pure pleasure,
And unequivocal harmony.
That will last forever,
And a Sunday.
And so from this day forth,
I shall exude the richness
Of the heavens,
In ways that are applicable to life
In the most profound way imaginable.
Which will inevitably,
Echo forever more
In the laughing sounds
Of matrimony.
Blessed my velvet tongue
For I speak the weight of gold,
And sing like an angel,
Whispering enchanting dreams,
And dancing on clouds.

I'm sorry I once dismissed you when you needed someone to be there while you were in anguish at night.

Because now
I am also in anguish tonight.
And I wish someone was here through it.

But they're all...

Regret. I'm sorry Velvet. Written at night. Like most of these are.

You said it was only a dark-skinned night
but I see a waxing Moon so bright
shimmering on its velvet lap.

You said none you can see
in a pitch-dark black night.
But I see a wide open starry sky
flanked by romantic moonlight.

together we are a velvet dress
comfortable, warm, high-quality material
knee-length, not too fancy
rich, earthy-green in colour
one strap, a bit quirky?
accentuates the thin waist
smoothly caresses the full hip
effortlessly ****, soft and flirtatious
not a casual piece, although it is adaptable
the dress hangs heavily on your shoulders and is strapped to your soul
never collecting dust
sometimes worn around the house on a free evening, just for you
wear me here, wear me there
wear me everywhere, the velvet dress cries
but of course this cannot be done
opt for the denim today, the workwear tomorrow
life says it must be so
let's save ourselves for the serendipitous occasion
knowing that this is the greatest part of our beauty and charm
not sure about the ending hmmmm

The night sounds of fallen angels
Building stairways back to home
And the radio plays softly
Like a crooner left alone
As the night falls into the velvet shades
And beats down the bedroom door
Of all the visions that come to me
It's of one I'm hoping for

The postman closes up the station
And the buses get cleaned with rain
The asylum rests and barely breathes
As the countryside goes insane
Prophets speak of peace
On the dim hue of TV screens
Of all the moments that seem real
I still wait to watch my dreams

Imposed upon the westward wall
Are the silhouettes of weeping oaks
Swaying in the wind that talks
But they only tell me jokes
Swept beneath the silver stars
Sleeping on blanket clouds
Of all the space above me
I feel as if I can't get out

Headlights and passing trains
Sound like time passing by
Gone are the hearts inside
Like the years beyond my eyes
Sounds from the suburb city
Blow like sirens in my mind
Of all the thoughts within me
Only one freezes time

Jordan Rowan Dec 2015
Have you ever felt like a child in the dark?
Where the whispers become thunder and the gods pound in your heart?
There's no sense in trying to quiet the storm
All that can be done is to embrace it with both arms

I feel like a traveller stumbling on a chest
Filled with something familiar but I can't quite place it yet
I found a picture lying in the dirt
As my mind was turned on by the velvet colored shirt

Some time ago, when my hair reached my eyes
I recall a quick visit that seemed to disappear and die
No matter how hard I try to remember
I can't come up with reasons I gave up that cold September

Now, as time's gone by, and things have changed
Like the inflections of my voice and memories estranged
I hear a voice from many Septembers ago
Like a harmony so rich that I can't wait to know
Jordan Rowan Dec 2015
White water dreaming
Behind pale velvet curtains
I sing the same song to you
Sweet summer steaming
As the wind was swirling
Your hair and your tune

Songs from the masters
Of love and laughter
Sung as the record spins 'round
I get lost in the chatter
Of what really matters
It's that I have you around

The types not romantic
Are the types that I meet
Like a lost wanderer in a storm
Before I get frantic
And cry in the street
I've got you to keep me warm

Cool, comfortable breathing
Beside the fire
Silent and perfect and still
I'm barely believing
Of you I will tire
If you want me to, I will
