*consciously, willfully, I wish it quietly the Sunday, the sun day, drifts toward, in its natural game, set, overmatched, the foregone conclusion, nightfall diminishment the water songfully swishes, as the tide departs for places unknown, this then, now the only natural authorized aural apparition, the power boats renounce their normal noisy conditioning, honoring their silenced, under-sail brethren, as well as admitting their noises disfigure the fast approaching majesty of the end of our summer seasoning of humanity consciously, willfully, I wish it once again, lush is the quietude,^ now given up, surrendered and surceased to wonder, how come I to write of these moments so oft, thenever-ending quest to re-inscribe it on my sensibilities, in vainglorious hopes that this stamping will last, be the last, see me through the turgid frigidity of my Lucifer life, come the fall, the winter, the early dark, the daylight's brevity, the hurricane season of the mind, that...need I say more? consciously, willfully, I wish it the particular white cloud formation of the moment at hand, shall stay in place,  be the capstone of my summer living vision, become permanent part and parcel of the sclera, the white of my eyes, and when I will write, soon enough, my vision white weeping clouded, you will weep knowingly, sympathetically consciously, willfully, I wish for that as well* 8/27/17 6:35pm

the lush peace and quiet of volition, on a Sunday afternoon
I hear the carve of oars, I see your palms enfold the wood, as shards of stars shred a black and glistening wave. I hear the carve of oars, the shore is breached, we reach dank granite stairs, climb a tower in moon gritty light. I hear the carve of oars, you speak, your turgid cheek blue-steel-gray, your gaze grates, my salt raged eyes summon waves and stars. I hear the carve of oars, waves rattle a candle's flame, chill the bed frame, the wet stony room –– the door closes, it scrapes. I hear the carve of oars. I know your lurching gate, the clank as oar lock’s turn. You slip the shore. I hear the carve of oars Copyright © 2002 Gary Brocks

A DREAM OF MY FATHER
An Epithaliamium So Man, grown vigorous now, Holds himself ripe to breed, Daily devises how To ********* his seed And boldly fertilize The black womb of the unconsenting skies. Some now alive expect (I am told) to see the large, Steel member grow ***** Turgid with the fierce charge Of our whole planet's skill, Courage, wealth, knowledge, concentrated will, Straining with lust to stamp Our likeness on the abyss- Bombs, gallows, Belsen camp, Pox, polio, Thais' kiss Or Judas, Moloch's fires And Torquemada's (sons resemble sires). Shall we, when the grim shape Roars upward, dance and sing? Yes: if we honour **** If we take pride to Ring So bountifully on space The ***** of our long woes, our large disgrace.

Prelude to Space
There is a forbidden pleasure in the poet's art it's like having an illicit ****** liaison, is it not? now it can be told, that's the way one felt enticing while evasive, was her two way dance. In the secret society meeting last full moon night for the first time I came face to face with the enigmatic girl, rumored to be  the mistress of the poet I admire, for his skills of allusion and  veiled speech she was so young and somnambulistic in appearance her lips were so thin, the only remarkable thing still in memory those pale lips remain, how helpless we are in a world, curtained off to keep our secrets in rooms of green darkness! The poet was absent, but he was very much present by that, as her shame intrudes when she starts conversations.I found him there. The words whispered from her lips were not heard, however one tried none listened to it, I bet, a poet's mistress is as curious as an  object of art, stolen from its rightful place, I suppose When the boat returned to the island to take us back we were the only passengers left, at last, how strange! In turgid waters a fallen full  moon like a snake swam I was looking at its wriggle, creating a tragic geometry that reminded me her thin lips, she sat next to me, motionless her soft breathing, was rhythmic poetry I kept imagining, till we parted exchanging a faint smile. her's was florescent.

A world curtained off
I tore the fabric of space Interrupting my affectionate stalking Spurts of longing, interspersed with spasms of premature ***** In vain, hankering to attain that next level rush *Oh you're a ***** girl aren't you* That's when I was discovered... Her shrieks royally flushing my cheeks with shock -Superseded by pallid chagrin I fumble to bail, Pants entrenched around my ankles Premeditative, Of absent-mind, in haste Prime directive a method of escape Evasion failing Detection: Imminent Reflecting a grim lack of circumspection, accursed ********** Trying to conceal my turgid ******** Her father particularly beyond reason And not fond of my indecency for his daughter Proceeds pummeling me to death with my beloved binoculars Devoid of clairvoyance; I am coincidentally sent outward toward oblivion Bon voyage through the portal Falling facefirst into an abysmal wormhole Its then I voyaged backward through time To the moment of Creation And witnessed the universe **** itself from naught to existence Spewing forth such cataclysmic splendor

The devil's speech say they: Rolling, clattering, frolicking, hungry. Billows of charred skeletons embrace the air Black soot pumped straight from the pyres of Hades Congealing to clouds of evil intent wherever it roam. That charred old shell so terse, Black as sadness and dead as a hearse, Darling to death as he brings on the rain: The dry rolling thunder of the funeral train. In the coughing desert Not a thing dares roam Neither wind nor creature And neither stick nor stone. But then the silence disturbed by a horrible shriek - The railway screams in horror and the train itself speaks, saying "Tell me, thou innocent, Why feel you special and best? For when all is done I take you And return you to my nest; Your world is bright and happy Full of high spirits and song, Though soon you too shall step aboard And join my faceless throng." Hot saliva on the heaving engines: Weeping, groaning, ghostly, parched. Rusted joints spewed onwards grinding resisting Movement spat out like a violently beaded string of curses Sloppily uttered as incantations of a malformed mouth! From that charred old shell so terse, Black as sadness and dead as a hearse, Darling to death as he brings on the rain: The dry rolling thunder of the funeral train. That dark train cries out and all around A mourning whimper rises like slumbering fog- Bleak and yellow it obscures the land Seeping out insidious in strange locales all: The old lonely fisherman Sleeping on his wharf, The frustrated hawker's Windblown barefaced booth, Silent streets crying for attention, Dark places hidden at the corner of every eye. That solemn train cries out and all around Her mourning whimper rises like harrowing fog Calling all to upright attention and fear. Looming like a spectre but a breath-span from your window Slowly closing cold dread claws- Naked numbness dumb as ice- Cold dread claws upon thy waist. And you, You poor old thing, Shivering in your pitiful shack of bones, You never had any chance! You were only human. You were only human, you poor old thing. Barreling on with brimstone slang: Clang clang! Dang dang! Beelz Bub! Sputtering an ocean of curses from turgid goat-flesh Born of sadness to cause even more, yawning great maw Jowls clanking with fresh hot oil drool steaming stark and lewd, and yet That charred old shell so terse, Blacker than sadness and slain like a hearse, Is all that gives meaning to our every gain: The dry rolling thunder of the funeral train.

I murmur in my heart complaints of the world’s state, But shrivel at opportunities to effect change, I drag my chains across the street, My back branded by expectations whip, My prison follows me, Courage is coin that eludes me, My mind dreams have made turgid, Constructing a mirage of solace, Thirsting through this urban place, I yearn for a place afar from this globe, Where human’s greed has not grown, The desert of all deserts, red but has known no blood, With teary eyes I squint at stars, How to begin I have not understood, The journey’s price is too steep, Strawberry diesel is all I have to fuel this trip

Mars my Shangri-La
Trickling tingles bubble, goaded from the verdant body As a butterfly’s flutterings coax the flow Widening and filling With a gentle lapping of inlets Ripples tease the reeds into turgid tremors Merging to waves Wave upon wave Curves slide over curves And at the Delta’s swollen, gaping breadth Crests slip over craving crevices Slapping froth in desperate gasps Milking cruel spasms from the urgent need to reach escape Until with turmoil resolved A gentle calm inundates the great ocean of sleep.

The Aspen Tree
It is true that the rivers went nosing like swine, Tugging at banks, until they seemed Bland belly-sounds in somnolent troughs, That the air was heavy with the breath of these swine, The breath of turgid summer, and Heavy with thunder's rattapallax, That the man who erected this cabin, planted This field, and tended it awhile, Knew not the quirks of imagery, That the hours of his indolent, arid days, Grotesque with this nosing in banks, This somnolence and rattapallax, Seemed to suckle themselves on his arid being, As the swine-like rivers suckled themselves While they went seaward to the sea-mouths.

Frogs Eat Butterflies. Snakes Eat Frogs. Hogs Eat Snakes. Men Eat Hogs.
Silence inside a train is the only sound of life outside. Along a road a melody grows flirting with the countryside. The river wide and turgid flows to a relentless rhythm. Sometimes a flute plays between rays of sunshine and whispering winds. Clouds swell in a darkening sky to the groans of a sombre trombone. Inside listen to the rain watch it slash at the window panes.

Ahhh...
Every day. The everyday. You see it every day. The twitch and reel and marble movement As turgid blood surfaces to face, Flows to operate stiff shoulders. Backs hunch as soon as they're alone. And they are alone. Surrounded by lovers that Love in word only. They chew their nails and cross their ankles. Uncross. And look around. Spring. Could you imagine? Gear, wire. Did he say? Bolt, frame. Isn't he? Ratchet. And then what did he say? Screws. Rotor. A bunch of **** Oil. Oil. Oil. Oil. Oil. Plug in. Silence. It moves. We move a head in times of Strain. To signify Exact measures. Twist on axis With perfect posture. Unnoticed frameworks bar our days. We are brass. The more crass are silver, gold. And the days are polish. Or maybe sand. Soon there are no mistakes. The veneer cakes without flaw. We do not acknowledge. We are not caught. For little hours though, there are kinks. Pauses. Errors. Open the clockwork face. What is stuck? A look around. The gears that grind us to cognition Are jammed by a fly-body Of soul. Soon, soon, sooner than ever It will be crushed. So gears might continue, Might make room for the everyday.

Electric Adjective
Poured upon the coldest plate Sensations I have felt of late, Oozing out in rhyme so thin To slit betwixt the blood and skin, Feelings I can best describe As mothers’ milk in ostrich hide. Feeling I can best project As crystal **** wrote circumspect. Turgid as the wrath in waves I feel my very soul depraves The values held within my breast, The turbulence portrayed at best As damnable as purple ink With oiliness of olive stink. This malady is best described As mothers’ milk in ostrich hide. Marshalg Victoria Park Tunnel 24 June 2010

In God We Trust, For He Invented Reasonable Doubt In Courtroom of the State of New York, Part 62, where the only decoration extant, in gold leaf letters, a magnificent joke, In God We Trust. Words so incongruous to the real time drama, a poorly acted Law and Order episode of which I partake, (as Juror No. 1, ergo you may address me as Mr. Jury Foreman), they stun me into stupefaction every time we enter and the Bailiff pronounces with much gravitas, "Jury Entering" A potpourri of a dozen Manhattanites, with wisdom acquired by the singular virtue of having attained the robust age of 18, noteworthy for being free of criminal record, having been nominated to sit upon the jury that will decide the fate of one Eric B., for what he may have done upon West 11th Street one Summer night in June Two Thousand and Eleven, If adjudged guilty, New York State can take, incarcerate him for up to 15 years of his life Predicate felon by the age of twenty seven, Eric's resume consists of four felonies, two misdemeanors a wife and two little children, and a partridge in a pear tree. Facts turgid and muddy, Eric tells a story one juror calls a confection of lies, no one murmurs much disagreement in the tiny, overheated room we have been sequestered to replay the 2012 version of Twelve Angry Men. But I am not his peer, nor am I a seer, common sense says if appearances are what they seem to be, he aided and abetted in the forcible taking of a nice Connecticut lady's cell phone with his brother who just happened to be released from prison earlier that day A convoluted tale ripe with inanities is told, upshot is our defendant's tale, his robust defense, portrays him as the unluckiest man in the whole world, a good Samaritan, *{chasing after the thief, ** ** his bro}* against whom events have conspired In Manhattan can be a harsh place, where the natives a tough lot, tougher than the Indians from whom they stole it all. I yearn a reminder of a version Of myself where I don't have piercing eyes Or a cold body Or a stifling loathe of beings similar to myself Or a need to curl up to a ball when pens ***** Ah fornicate this I can't write anymore There's a hope buried in me It multiplies like bamboo shoots entangling It says grow thorns, be turgid It says pop horns, stay frigid I walk down the corridor constantly defying myself I'm one character I think Am I

abstract thoughts and nothing else
An olive branch, hurriedly raised, sparsely leaved, sans any grace sadly a belated thought she had, a wingless bird's attempt to soar, a withered symbol of an inept pair's egomaniacal overdrive, a betrayal in the name of a love lost it's soul prickly floats down, as he watches it swirls and turns on the turgid flow a storm water drain keeps no memories. Along with it a love, utterly vapid too goes down, breathing it's last.
