"traits" poems
ever since i was young, my gaze was drawn skyward. i could tell you the story of orion, and how to brush bernice's hair, before i could tell you that two plus two equals four. i know more about our vast universe, than i know about many of my friends. if you are not well acquainted with a pisces, let me give you a bit of an introduction: we are compassionate, imaginative, we adapt to whatever is thrown at us, and my personal favourite, we are unfalteringly loyal. however... we are full of self-hate, prone to laziness, we are escapists and horrendously easy to manipulate. i believe my horoscope today is complete ******** i do not feel utterly lovely, i know i will not score a date because no one feels for me romantically. i've nothing to flaunt. the horoscopes are saccharine lies, but, those traits? those are me. my soul is ancient, i feel the pain of struggles i have not faced, or rather, have not YET faced; i will split my soul in two i will break my bones i will give every drop of my blood i will breathe my last breath for those that i love. i spent two years of my life giving my heart and soul to a sagittarius. philosophical, adventurous. i admired him so. but his negatives-- inconsistent. overconfident. careless. he was a burning house. my mother, also a pisces, when all was said and done, told me to stay away from those sagittarius boys. they're dangerous for wary, fretful fish like us, who ask 'from what bridge?' when we are told to jump.

What are you?
The punitive silences, the bad atmosphere they generate, the mind-games they use to try to **** you in are telltale signs of the toxic person. It could be your in-laws, a parent, coworker, your boss or spouse, a sibling, a roommate, boyfriend or girlfriend, someone you want out of the house. Toxic people want to make you miserable. Especially if you're a decent sort, they hone in on you like a heat-seeking missile. They spew their negativity and blame it on you. They lie constantly, or twist the facts to suit their changing needs of the moment and they never apologize (so don't expect an apology, ever). With a toxic person there is no reciprocity. They sprinkle their toxic dust on you. It makes them feel better. Their ulterior goal is to demean you, to make you feel smaller. They project their worst tendencies onto you, find fault with you for traits you don't possess--- a shadow of the **** that lurks inside them. They try to dictate the emotional atmosphere through their attitude or twisted mood. They drain you of your energy, bring you down, They'll always find a reason why your good news isn't great news. Their agenda is to cut you down to their size, to manipulate and control to **** you over while they play the injured party. Confront the bully. Speak up to the manipulator, the trickster, the backstabber. but beyond a certain point there is no point in arguing with them. Don't try to change the toxic person. You can't. You'd have better luck changing an orangutan into **** sapiens. Only a shrink could change them, and then only if they hit rock-bottom. Don't try to justify yourself. It's a waste of time which would only draw you deeper into their net. Set boundaries to keep their negativity in check. Stop trying to please them. Let that toxic somebody in your life know you're onto them and they can't get away with it anymore. Don't fall into their trap, don't get caught up in their life-dramas or try to get them out of trouble. Don't let them instill guilt in you. But try not to take their toxicity personally. Remember, it's them, not you. You are not to blame though they desperately want you to feel you've done something wrong. If necessary (and if possible), delete the toxic person from your life and move on. Know when enough is enough. Saying good riddance doesn't necessarily mean you hate them, it means your own well-being comes first. Immunize yourself. Preserve your inner strength. Set your own rules. And, when possible, just walk away.

My Heart and Mind had a discussion one day, About a man that they both knew quite well. The heated discussion continued for hours, Both with arguments meant to compel. A debate ensued between the two, With each taking a different perspective. The Heart believed the man to be true, And the Mind thought he was deceptive. Heart started the discussion with an obvious point, "He is sweet and gentle like no man before." Mind responded smugly, "That's great in the moment but how does he act after she's walked out the door?" Heart countered, already knowing the point being made. "Sure, he may not be able to write or call; He is busy with constant demands of his time. What he feels in his heart matters most of all." "I disagree," and Mind continued to say, "Actions mean far more than words alone. It is when words and actions are considered together that a man's true feelings are shown." "He has to compartmentalize to get through the day." Heart continued to defend his intentions, When they are together his feelings are real, but her insecurities span many dimensions." "It's funny you would mention compartmentalizing. Apparently your memory isn't as sharp as mine, He was once quoted as saying this was not his strength, proof that his statements don't always align." "You are cynical, suspicious and guarded." Heart was clearly tired of this dispute, "Those traits are clouding your judgement. He is genuine and telling the truth." "I think you are overlooking the obvious but I'll relax and stop doubting his intentions if he makes an effort to send a simple sign." Heart and Mind both wanting to prove their point and have the bragging rights of superiority. Mind sure that the man would disappoint her; Heart confident in his genuine sincerity. Both waited patiently for some type of gesture, Something to demonstrate that he really does care. Heart began to worry and whispered to herself, "Stay calm and trust that it's not just another affair." Patience prevailed and an email arrived, just as Heart had hoped and prayed. Mind, although disappointed by being proved wrong, was relieved and no longer afraid. Trust and calm filled her spirit when thinking of him, but it was both that won in the end. Maybe they were more than temporary lovers and could also be permanent friends.

A blank page waits for words that it will never see Created from the head of someone writing a story Characters, plot, setting, theme, are central to the tale Without them every narrative is simply guaranteed to fail Stakes and consequences must exist for someone to pursue Whether treacherous of heart, or noble, brave, and true And if these traits stand not alone but mixed in with the rest That simply adds more intrigue to the outcome of the test Will he get the girl?  Will she rise above her station? Can a rags-to-riches fable captivate the nation? Who done it, where and why?  Are three questions most effective But often ****** requires the help of a detective These may seem like idle, fragmented bits of a much larger whole But actually they’re not; every type plays a role For you see, “someone” mentioned above is not a professional writer But an individual on a journey, and we all must face it like a fighter Characters are those you know and love, plot is what you choose to do Setting is where you live, theme defines what is important to you So why a fighter you may ask, someone who faces pain and strife? Because we encounter both good and ill as we write our book of life

Resonate
is just a word used to describe me. You don’t look long enough at me to really see though. I didn’t laugh when I realized what I was. It wasn’t new, I knew how my mind worked. The word wasn’t new either. Just the label of being a psychopath. The insanity of my sanity has long since made me comfortable relaxed amused by my wild untamable uncaring traits. Who I am what I am- it taunts me so dearly, never leaving my mind. Resting in the crooks corners nooks that my mind has available.

Psychopath
They say there was once a bird, The silent type always unheard, Hovering up in the sky, For all of eternity would it ever fly. The touch of a human upon it was always forbidden, Making a biological secret be forever hidden, Due to the transparency and the height of which cannot be reached, It makes another lesson of evolution not breached. What is know, however very little, Is the bird makes one feel rather belittled. It contains an immortality so great, That it is forever the same and never grows from it's traits. However, even though the phoenix of true legend is made of fire, This version is something that will always stay higher. It moves ever slow, like a turtle moving its bare arms, Yet it seems as if it forever sounds its alarms. Our alarms we sound at the dark times, though, As this phoenix creature begins to cast it's own shadow. All citizens race to their homes, Awaiting a closer strike from the phoenix within the clouds that roams. The phoenix moves, but notices no one near, Feeling the shivering of the cold and the town's fear. Emotion shows as small drops fall to the ground, For the phoenix finally screams it's thunderous sound. The great ground pound hits with the force of the phoenix's body, As if saying, "I wanted to be nice, but you hate me now, so nobody stop me!" One human man walks out to know what's going on, And realizes that the phoenix is blocking the sun. The phoenix above continues to cry The tears that do not heal, the ones that fall into the man's eye. He quickly wipes them off, And then looks all the way up. A question to the creature, "Why do you cry?" The phoenix responds with another tear out of it's eye. The man explains, "Now, listen please. I only want to be the one to appease." The phoenix slowly stops crying its last tear, Almost agreeing to listen the man's prayer. The man continues, "Unlike your brother who can heal, Your tears can do the same as the unreal." He explains, "Your sadness affects us all, As are our ears deafened by your great call. Now, all I hope for you is to select a different place and find it, So everyone, including you, will have some needed peace and quiet." The phoenix slightly nodded, with one last drop. It suddenly broke apart, with one final pop. The creature broke away to seek it's next destination, As it needed to go away and not cause more devastation. The phoenix is seen no more, Though I'm people have still seen it before. Look out in the sky with the best possible sight, And you may see the phoenix still hovering in it's slow flight.

I am you, you are me There is no difference inside to see The color of your skin, hair or eyes Does not represent what’s inside. Physical traits come from the family tree They give roots, history and a sense of identity But inside we have the same blood, the same heart So when does prejudice begin to take part? Babies are born without preconception They feel love and comfort from their caregiver’s affection Their new eyes are blind to ignorance They see through a clear lense and don’t see difference As they develop, society gives them glasses, Their vision gets clouded by the opinions of the masses The lenses get darker as they grow They filter the world to see only colors they know Differences become obstacles, not celebrated. Leaders tell them who to respect and who should be hated. These biased views could remain for a lifetime And then they’re passed down to the next one in line. Opinions are essential, shared thoughts educate. But when they’re bigoted and hateful we cannot tolerate. Take those blinders off, take a look around. There’s so much joy in diversity to be found Don’t let the blindfold give such a narrow view Don’t be complacent and take what is given to you Rip off the filter, open your eyes Find connection, common experience, destroy the lies Revel in these connections, learn from one another We’re all trying to get through from one day to the other See through the skin, the hair, the accent To the core of the HUMAN BEING with love and respect.

Briskly walking with his head ***** Money and treasure, he aims to get He is in a stampede, chasing wealth Acute shortage of ‘humility and gratitude’ Compels him to slaughter a multitude The desire for more than enough It has crystallized and made his heart tough Oblivious about ‘humility and gratitude’ Man agrees to squash the destitute Unaware, that he may face the same fate Even then he piles up his plate When would he be humble and grateful? For the things which make his life blissful… Even while swallowing all that is unlawful He persistently denies being shameful His conscience reminds him of ‘humility and gratitude’ But he refuses to change his haughty attitude Let me remind you that life is temporary Nothing in this world remains stationary Just like dust your stay is transitory These two traits, ‘humility and gratitude’ Can help you to acquire beatitude Don’t forget your final abode Where good deeds won’t be sold Remember, the fables of the brave and the bold All of them possessed ‘humility and gratitude’ From all this, you may conclude It is the purity of our intentions What Creator expects from his creation Everything else is mere illusion Being a human, demands ‘humility and gratitude’

Humility and Gratitude
Friends with modesty, honesty and quality Friends with novelty, loyalty and equality, Is What all desire, And Friends with disability, social inequality and religiosity, Friends with 'weird' human ecology, and 'discriminating' ideology... None wants to acquire.. Some traits of these, Are undesirable for sure, But not even a single person of them, Need to be ignore(d)... We all are humans, we all are friends, We all are lovers of humanity, We all are creators of humanity and We all are sufferers of humanity... We all are friends, we all are a family, We all are a human colony..

she is a very naughty girl she never follows policy to the letter she always does the wrong thing she needs some discipline she's proficient at defying the law she knows not how to get the message she doesn't listen intently enough she fills many charge sheets with her misconduct she is a girl with a streak of wickedness she has all the hallmarks of someone who is naughty I speak of Ursula in the above list of bad deeds and there is a hope that her bad deeds can be quickly remedied the hand of an authority figure will bring her back into line as she has too often strayed from that line whence appropriate corrections are implemented all her behavioral problems shall be circumvented then and only then a change will eventuate and she'll no longer be showing her bad traits really naughty girls such as Ursula can become more like a pleasant seaside peninsula watching her radical transformation shall be a sight to see so we'll keep our eyes focused on what Ursula shall soon be

If you see me in the street, just smile, Then walk away. You’ll wonder why I fail to speak, The reason, I don’t care! You see, when you, were in my life, I offered part of me But you had narcissistic traits So now, you cease to be! GGx

Walk On By!
Heroes and villains seem harder to define when somethings happen to blur the lines The villain style of justice may appear better than no justice at all When the system fails the victim and makes the victim feel so small Where are the Heros when evil abounds? Are they still around? Who fights for truth and justice throughout the land? Who is brave enough to take a stand? Remember heroes often are easily disguised as ordinary people and don't stand out in a crowd Their anonymity allows them to work behind the scenes they effectively crush the evil villains dreams. The Heros tirelessly fight for truth and justice and selflessly care for others in need. They support and encourage those that the villains of this world have knocked down. The villains can too easily be found courtesy of our television screen they often make a showing on the 6 or 10 o clock news they are promoting violence they don't care about anyone else's views. As far as Heros go you may discover that a Heros heart is contained inside of You. Hero or Villain? The choice is yours Today you could take a stand to right some societal wrong Today you can be strong and be a Hero to a friend or loved one or a stranger in need. To them can make a difference indeed. Hero's Traits: H elping E ncouraging R espectful O pportunity Perhaps these traits are within you Be the Hero that you long to see!

Habits Gluttony Greed Bribery Lustfulness Passed down Generation After generation After generation After generation Okay, I get it, it get it You get it, you get it. Let's get personal Born set up for failure My statistics not looking bright First baby born of color born into A family of strictly whites Grandmother beat my mother When she discovered The life forming inside of her Was half black - Don't cry mother, or I'll whither Inside of you. I grew and grew Taught lies upon lies About myself The other half of me. The only love I knew was of my mother. There was no other - Until she started to take it out on me Habits Passed From generation upon generation. She was sick and tired of being Sick and tired Stomped to the ground due to her Kindness Abused emotionally due to her Selfless-ness Mistreated physically due to her Weakness She took it out on me. Cornered me to a wall Choked me up Laughing - she couldn't get enough Of the amusement of my pain All done in vain Because she couldn't stop the strain Put on her brain. Scarring my face Pulling my hair Public places Not a care - Kicking Scratching Pulling Biting The agony The hate The battle wounds The hurt The scars - On my heart. Habits Passed from generation To generation To generation I was sick on the inside My heart - suffering - never ending bleeding My brain Psychologically ill Flashbacks I locked myself up in my room Head in pillow Screaming louder than your annoying baby sister who throws her unnecessary temper tantrums In the middle of the night. I tied myself up mentally Stuck Self-hate Self-abuse Self-hurt In the sixth grade I to myself - I wanted going to **** And my victim was myself. Filled with the poison - I was ill Injected with self-hate Hated my family Hated all my traits Hated all forms of humanity. Habits Passed From generation to generation To generation.

I wonder how a rhododendron smells. Such a lovely word should have a scent To match, but words keep secrets the object tells; What fragrance could this flower represent? I've smelled my share of flowers, sweet and sour: Roses for rapture, Chrysanthemums for trust, Daisies for friendship with magic healing power, Rue for unrequited, and lilies for lust. I'd like to make a newer scent by breeding Flowers with all the traits I love the best. My unconditional tulip has been pleading For a sweeter scent than all the rest. Your love has such a scent my love can blend on Sweet enough to smell like Rhododendrons.

Sonnet About Love and Flowers #77,232.
Life is a puzzle. Just like you and me. Each day a note, Together they make a melody. Our life a puzzle, A melody. Each and everyone, Another life, another story. Black, white, crimson, burgundy, Different shades of colors, Lights of different intensities, Life's of different meanings. Some live for others, Others for themselves; Some have no clue, Some just wish all was true. Days pass like flipping pages, A book opened and soon to be closed. But after the story, Still no one knows. No one ever truly knows, Never one found out the answer; The real meanings, Behind these beautiful melodies. Many lives, satin ribbons, fluttering Freely in the wind. So much the same, similar traits, yet all we see is Difference.

Discrimination
I definitely won’t make any apologies for saying this and if anyone isn't careful she’ll leave them in a ditch. But don't get me wrong, I am not referring to any woman by that name only to the powers of deception that are played within the devil's game.                      When you consider how much trouble she has caused; without a moment’s lapse or of one repentant paused, in human affairs over the years since the advent of man; it’s a wonder that she hasn’t yet been flushed in the pan. In case you might just be wondering what I’m talking about Maya is the female equivalent of Satan who is a **** lout, and who plays around deceiving anyone that ignores the Truth which has been ingrained in our mind and heart since our youth. In fact anything that is Divine, noble, good and of inestimable worth Maya will try to turn it around into a thing seeming of much less birth. She thus plays around with our emotions causing one to doubt and fear where the reality of a situation would be to have faith and some cheer. Her main battle is waged within a vulnerable human heart and mind especially when an individual is undergoing difficulties of any kind. She is also the one who arouses anger, jealousy, lust, greed and pride, being full of all those traits herself and more she projects them outside. We must try and be aware of the extent of her subtle delusion and escape any entanglement in the net of her worldly illusion; that so many people are now caught up in without their real knowing not realising that Love and Truth are the things most worth showing. ______________________________

Maya Is A *****
I definitely won’t make any apologies for saying this and if anyone isn't careful she’ll leave them in a ditch.

If you're OCD, You're going to hate this poem. Because it's not what you're used to and it can be infuriating I know where i'm going and i'm laughing in enjoyment. I wish i could take some comedians out of sheer unemployment And take damaged soldiers out of deployment But you know that drill already We're just trying to keep the Earth's rotation steady But i'm up for going steady If that's what you want We're all about want I'm all about yours Trying to coordinate each constellation Is like arguing with a woman You won't get the result you were looking for It's beautiful in the tension And it has it's suspension But it's infinite Meaning it will go on forever So just try not to. I never liked arguing I know i won't later on Your passion and support is all i need That's what i look for the most Someone who doesn't see me as some sort of ghost Or lifeless party host But someone that means the air they breathe I get tired of my mistakes But to know someone will try to help me prevent them Is what i like There has been a couple of people who tried But i pushed them off the deep end And i'm terribly sorry for that Zero fault on you and all for me I say that with a smile Because it feels good to be honest with myself You think it would be a brain-dead thing to master But it only seems that way I know from experience Trust me, I've been there. My trails go in multiple angles Just like my nature But if you're crazy enough to stick around You'll get a warm welcome You'll know how to feel special If you never have before, i'll be the first to show you I mean every word With full fledged honesty I wouldn't say useless, empty words That's inept and not worth it. If you're confident in yourself Girl, you should work it I heavily value strong traits such as that You're going to turn all my bumps in my chest flat And make me enamored just like that The flick of the switch No more wishing i would with other male persons. To get a chance That's why most men do a celebration dance Consistently catching me in a trance I got more lovely words than France Okay, maybe not But the ambition doesn't vanish I'll still try To keep you mine Time is precious So are you If Time was a woman she would be in disgust That it's not her in your shoes You brought your sparkly ones? Just making all the check marks, are you? Champions aren't limited to sports I can assure you.

There are many side effects of being ambitious, but having the desire and determination to succeed is not and will never be a bad thing. when you've encountered so many tribulations and you want something as desprestly as you want to breathe, you know that giving up has never been an option and will never be, but the most challenging thing is that most of these people only try to minimize our aspirations and what we wish to be. but I guess that's what we get when we're living in a city full of sorrow, deceit and unfulfilled dreams. And nobody wants to listen when we try to tell them,  but There's this  yearning inside of me that everyone is failing to see. and I have every intent of satisfying this hunger no matter how difficult it is to achieve. I guess a side effect of being ambitious is not knowing when enough is enough. I was taught that nothing good comes easily, We have to fight for what we want and most likely it'll be tough. but we were born fighters with purpose running through our veins zealously, causing us to be relentless when it comes to what we crave to be. now don't get me wrong I'll put on for my city KC, but it's not at all the place I aspire to be, and to put it simply I have to leave and I owe all of that to my ambitious personality. a side effect of being ambitious is having unnerving passion, making others feel threatened as they try to reconstruct our visions into ideas that they can understand. but just because they do it does not mean we have to give in. the ball is in your court, this is your life. take control. it wouldn't make sense to throw everything away to appease the mind of someone who has already lost their soul.   A side effect of being ambitious is having unwavering Faith. I just wish for you to never be discouraged, because ambition will forever and always be one of the most attractive traits.

Without My Liking
Thank you, ex-lover For teaching me my true worth. For showing that you cannot love Based on a smile. And thank you, ******* For teaching me to stick up for myself. Because if it wasn't for your insults I'd be defenseless. Thank you, ex-lover For cheating on me. By doing so, you gave me a chance To leave. Thank you, ex-lover For ruining me. Because falling to the bottom only Made me climb higher than I was. And finally, ex-lover Thank you for being so cruel Now I know certain traits To keep an eye out for and to avoid.

Thank You, Ex-Lover
Just because you have kids doesn't mean you are a man it just means that you are old or mature enough to contribute to humanity's population(if that is even the case) just because you have muscles doesn't mean you are a man it just means that you are strong enough to do physical labor for humanity just because you have tons of girlfriends doesn't mean you are a man it just means that you are in a stage where courtmanship is at it's peak for the benefit of humanity just because you have tons of money doesn't mean you are a man it just means that you have contributed something to humanity in which you are getting pay for it just because you went to war doesn't mean you are a man it just means that you had enough respect for the country and your family and consequences were dealt to you because of humanities behavior the list of masculinity traits can go on and on masculinity is primitive femininity is evolving and it is time for men to stop indulging in their primitive ways for the survival of humanity.

Masculinity
I don't have any emotions anymore Sometimes, I don’t know if I’m having a feeling Or I am dreaming, while I am awake? Some might think that my mind is exploring my emotions while looking for happiness, So I decided to bake a melodrama cake Nope! I meant mel-o-cream butter pound cake The ingredient is my path to getting my feelings back Egg, butter, flour, sugar, raisins, baking powder and a little milk I just want to transfer my feeling, with some logical thinking..   Somewhere, deep within a non stanzaic, and syllabic poem forms by the minute It’s going to trend like this cake, which is going to be bake with love Poetry is everywhere, creaming my butter and sugar is poetic because butter and sugar never stick together. It also reminds me of Nana’s golden brown patties, tasty and spicy Adding the eggs, nutmeg, baking powder, brings out the natural female traits in this Island girl, without my empowering dreads The raisins and the baking powder remind me of The Rise of Radical African American Activism, And all that rises, rise in due degree so poetry is everywhere it's  in everything we say and do.

I don't know If I 'm Having A Feeling
