"tolerate" poems
I'm a photographer, and I can't picture you and I together. If I were a stop light, I'd turn green everytime you passed by, just so I don't have to see you any longer. I thought happiness started with an HAPPI. Why does mine start with NOT U? Are you a camera? Because every time I look at you, I run and hide. Do you have a map? I need to figure out a way to get the hell away from you. Do you live in a corn field, cause I'm just gonna harvest you and sell you to someone else. Are you a parking ticket? 'Cause you've got Violation written all over you. You look cold. Good. Freeze to death. Can I have directions? [To where?] To get the hell away from you. I'm not drunk, I'm just intoxicated enough to tolerate talking to you. I was so disgusted by your face that I ran into that wall over there. But thank god I don't have insurance, so don't bother telling me your name and number. Is there an airport nearby, cause I'm gotta get on the next flight to Antarctica and get the hell away from you. You look so familiar… didn't we take a class together? I could've sworn we had physical education, where I was educated how to physically hurt you. If you are a steak, I'd say you are too meaty. Can I have a picture of you? So I can show Santa what I don't want for Christmas. There must be something wrong with my eyes, they've started bleeding at the sight of you.

Rejection lines (follow up to Pickup Lines)
No accounting for taste. What you dislike and called a waste is what I like. You call cheese, honey I called it bitter pill. You prefer a monkey while chimp makes me chill. You like worshipping sun I love worshipping God It really fun you called mine odd. I lived in tradition You lived in modernity But in addition I lived in christianity. You urged me to study biology I urged you to learn Shakespeare You want me to live by astrology Let poetry be your spear. You prefer winter that is your choice Mine is summer when I'll rejoice. When you lay on your bunk, you hear the music, rock but I listen to punk who should be given a sock? You love a black lady with long dark hair I love a white baby to be my heir. You desire democracy as system of your government I desire theocracy it had the best management. Let us be a union Let there be chaste Let's tolerate each one's opinion for no accounting for taste.

NO ACCOUNTING FOR TASTE
As the moon shines And the stars decorate the sky, A lonely owl hymns While the bats fly. Lightning bugs scatter around Like will-o'-the-wisps at night, Without any sound Oh, what a delight! The neighbour's hound is on guard She will not allow anyone to pass, No one is allowed in her yard At this hour, only a fool will walk on her grass. Her howl pierces the air Bringing an end to the silence, She announces she won't share She will not tolerate any form of violence. Across the street, few floors above Two players are taking their turns, In the famous game of push and shove While a tiny candle burns. Tanay Sengupta, Copyright © 2018. All Rights Reserved

Late night ramblings
I believe there is someone for everyone The perfect person, that fits like a glove Everyday a surprise, making the boring, fun But how do you know? If I married you tomorrow, How do I know I can't do better? Love is strange..... How do you know? After years together, through thick and thin Would it just be loyalty? To stop me moving on Fear of the world without you? Being my blanket Or are you someone I can tolerate life with, until the 'one'?

Love vs. Loyalty
For seventy or more years TV And radio ruled the world, Along with telephones. But then computers made their mark, Soon followed by mobiles, Smartphones, Ipads, Bluetooth, Wifi and who knows what? In no particular order. So herds of sheep migrated Into Cyberspace Even Myspace! Then on to Planet Facebook And Terratwitter. We talk with people we’ve never met, And meet folk with whom we’ve never talked. It keeps us occupied I guess, And gives relief from stress. These images that yet fresh images beget, I’m sure Yeats would agree. I tolerate these adverts flashing in my face And soak up knowledge to my solid mental grace. A world of wonders beckons in The depths of Cyberspace, And as a Nerd before they were invented, I have to say I’ve truly found my place. Paul Butters

Communication
Too long this rot has run its course, too much the damage done When men deflect acknowledged glance, they know that wrong has won. Across this land and far afield the wrongness seeps within And pride becomes a memory through distant halls of spin. How can we bow to tyranny, how can we shy away From that which causes  eyes to slide.... and coaxes will to sway? To tolerate the bombast, the bullying, the lies Succumbing to a hopelessness, which, both we despise. Division in the nation, uproar in between A man and wife’s contention-ness beyond what should be seen Brothers loathing brothers, silence in the room Where a word  uttered wrongly can erupt to screaming soon. Allies left in tatters, trust is cut to shards Tariffs injudiciously, imposed to **** the cards. International uproar, industry in strife Teetering disastrously when NATO flees the knife. Putin sits and rubs his hands, hilarious the show Disorder and disharmony to lubricate his glow. Beijing sits inscrutably, always opportune Manoeuvring judiciously, in place, to call the tune. America, the isolate, sails away to sea Blondini, at the helm, wears smirk indulgently. M. The White House HAMILTON NZ 12th July 2018

The Trumpet Call
A Muslim boy with a clock Is seen as a terrorist with a glock Maybe i'm right, maybe i'm wrong But if he were White, Asian, Hispanic or even Pacific Islander Nobody would of suspected anything. When are we going to stop fearing an entire race for only a portion radical and illogical ways of treating others? I don't tolerate people who behead others if they don't agree with their religion I don't agree with the repressive governments that control everyone and stone them for minor misdemeanors There are good men out there fighting this evil that has plagued their homelands I'm all for ending terrorism of all kinds But let's stop terrorism of innocents too Sure, i'm afraid of what the radicals will do to their own people, my people and the rest of the world But i'll be dammed if i treated somebody from the Middle East like a monster when i don't even know who they are If it wasn't for a Middle Eastern girl The Syrians girls wouldn't have an improved education If it wasn't for a Middle Eastern man fending off the Taliban and risking his entire village to keep Marcus Littrell alive He would of been KIA a long time ago. What about the ones who fought and died for America? Nobody ever mentions them The media wants me to hate them all, but i laugh and shake my head Warped minds trying to warp others I only see the ones who want to do us harm, and the ones who want to live peacefully and away from a life of hell Brothers and sisters, just a different culture and skin color I'm sorry if America seems racist or hateful, but i'm proud to be the one who throws those two words in the trash Because i'm not afraid to speak my mind And i welcome everyone here America is everyone's home. If only the Soviet Union never invaded Afghanistan If only the people were not scared To be free like America. Unity for all, Religious differences and Cultures alike. I hope one day a Muslim man or Woman can walk down an American street without being labeled as a terrorist. I hope one day these repressive governments fall into the hands of democracy And we start the Age of Unity again.

Please Don't Touch My Hair. It's amazing, It's beautiful, Maybe its the first time you'll see; Hair so dark and 'puffy' As the hair God gave to me. But my hair is not a commodity; A thing for you to gather round and see. It is not something I pull out once a while Just so you can take a peek. Please Don't Touch My Hair. Don't run your hands through it, Don't ask me why it act's like that, Don't ask me if you can pull it, Don't pet me like I'm your cat. Don't touch it without asking, And worst of all ask and not wait, Are your manners really that lacking? Please Don't Touch My Hair. Don't stare like I am some exhibit Brought for you from far away, Don't mock the way it looks on me Don't say 'I don't like the way it looks today'. It's My hair On MY head, So don't you even dare. You're not the one that spends hours Looking after my luscious hair. Please Don't Touch My Hair. Because many years ago My ancestors were put in zoos So people like you could know How our hair felt, and our skin looked Instead of just seeing old photos. As if we were not human beings With minds, and hearts and souls. So my hair is not on display For your viewing pleasure, My hair is on my head for ME And it has worth that you can never measure. It represents Who I Am My Tribe, My Land, My Culture. So don't hover around with oily hands Like a flock of curious vultures. So for the love of all that I know Please DO NOT TOUCH MY HAIR. And don't ask me why you can't, Don't say it isn't fair. Because would I walk up to a stranger And ask, only to receive a no Then go on and touch it anyway? ...I didn't think so. Please Don't Touch My Hair. This is the last time I'll say it, I cannot be silent any longer I will not tolerate it. I've given it all I can I have been very patient But I will not let this continue This I will not permit. If you say you are my friend You will respect this Its My Hair, on My Head And that's all there is to it.

Tolerance is a form of intolerance: public acceptance, private disdain, the pretense that humanity is one's to allow. Acceptable operating parameters are not to be defined by support, and certainly not by a token indifference. To tolerate is to glorify one's limits. Feigning acceptance of the beyond, true character remains just out of reach. Better to hate openly and honestly than veil it in the robes of community; ...better yet, see tolerance for what it isn't.

On Tolerance
Did you know that if you don't stretch in the correct way, you might end up thwarting the entire purpose of your workout and suffer unwanted injuries? Doing pre-workout stretches thoroughly will determine whether you are benefiting from your workout or whether it's worsening your muscle tear. Here are the major stretching crimes that you should never commit. Not doing a proper warm-up According to gym instructors worldwide, this is the most commonly committed crimes in any gym. A warm-up is a must before any kind of workout — cardio or weights — and must ideally last at least 12-15 minutes. Assuming that stretching is a warm-up Stretching and warming up is not the same. You need to warm up first, before you are ready to stretch. A slow jog or brisk walking on the treadmill is a good warm-up. Rushing through your stretching exercises Stretching should be for the entire body. You cannot skip any parts. Involve stretches that work your lower back, shoulders, calves, stomach, quads etc. You should not move from one stretch to the other in very quick succession because that may cause untoward injuries. Try to hold each stretch for 20 seconds. When you breathe deeply and hold the stretch, your muscles get trained to tolerate the maximum that your limbs can go to. Giving stretching a skip after a workout You have done an hour of strenuous exercise and now you just want to rush out of the gym; that is a huge mistake. Spend some time bending and stretching after your sweat session. Then, do a cool down before you leave the gym. Not stretching every day You need to be your flexible best always and that can only happen if you stretch daily, even on the days that you aren't gymming. This ensures that your gym days are more fruitful and that you make the most of them. Not breathing properly Breathing right is a very important aspect of stretching. Breathe naturally while you inhale through your nose, expand your rib cage and upper abdomen as you fill in your lungs. When exhaling, breathe out through your mouth, preferably making an audible sound. This relaxes you. While stretching, you need to breathe out when you are exerting, that is, when you are actually contracting your muscles. Doing static stretches Never stand still and do stretches that work only one muscle. You should rather do stretches that work a group of muscles — like a lunge that stretches your upper hamstring muscle, your ankles and also your glutes. Ignoring pain while stretching When you are in the middle of a stretch and you feel pain, stop immediately and consult an expert. Your stretch should make you feel a gentle pull only, not immense pain. If you are hurting, you are doing it wrong. Rest a few days and then go back to working out under a qualified trainer.Read more here:www.marieaustralia.com/formal-dresses

What is it with this fatal attraction For my soul that’s what it is I have tried hard to ignore it And not always give in Erase you from my heart and mind To be free from you at last But every time you’re near I simply have no chance What is it about you Keeps me wanting more Your eyes mesmerize me And pull me into your world Your body makes my pulse race I undress you with my eyes I wish it were just physical I’d have walked away by now I love the way your mind works Even if I don’t always understand You make me think about things That I never have before The way you make me smile And the way you make me laugh Is just another of your facets That keeps me coming back I love the way you accept me Like it’s ok to be myself I let my guard down around you And I take off my many masks You seem to understand me Even with all my many quirks You even seem to tolerate me When I’m acting like a ***** There’s so much more about you That I just can’t find the words To tell all the reasons That you're driving me berserk That’s why I keep staring at you With such passion in my eyes You're my fatal attraction And that I can’t deny.

Fatal Attraction
I am you, you are me There is no difference inside to see The color of your skin, hair or eyes Does not represent what’s inside. Physical traits come from the family tree They give roots, history and a sense of identity But inside we have the same blood, the same heart So when does prejudice begin to take part? Babies are born without preconception They feel love and comfort from their caregiver’s affection Their new eyes are blind to ignorance They see through a clear lense and don’t see difference As they develop, society gives them glasses, Their vision gets clouded by the opinions of the masses The lenses get darker as they grow They filter the world to see only colors they know Differences become obstacles, not celebrated. Leaders tell them who to respect and who should be hated. These biased views could remain for a lifetime And then they’re passed down to the next one in line. Opinions are essential, shared thoughts educate. But when they’re bigoted and hateful we cannot tolerate. Take those blinders off, take a look around. There’s so much joy in diversity to be found Don’t let the blindfold give such a narrow view Don’t be complacent and take what is given to you Rip off the filter, open your eyes Find connection, common experience, destroy the lies Revel in these connections, learn from one another We’re all trying to get through from one day to the other See through the skin, the hair, the accent To the core of the HUMAN BEING with love and respect.

Intolerant to Tolerance (Poem by Serenus) They tolerate your gayness You should be so glad That they’re not indifferent to your difference They’re not the one’s calling you F*g They tolerate your blackness Racism… They’re much bigger In their minds They’re colorblind They’ve never uttered The word N*gger They tolerate your religion Muslims, Jews, And Christians Believe what you want to believe They tolerate your decision They tolerate your opinion They tolerate your facts They tolerate your voice They even let you talk back They can stomach you as a person Isn’t that honorable? Doesn’t it feel great… To be so tolerable? We all need to pull together And strive to be prosperous It’s time to move forward And be intolerant to tolerance.

Intolerant to Tolerance
Are we fated to dance to the same tune alone in our separate universes? Is it true that we must silently keep to our preordained curses? Are we destined to swoon at the beauty of the moon at differing time slots? Why were we given invisible ink to connect our lives' dots? Must it be that our lives revolve around the whims of the sun? Isn't it ludicrous that we won't see the intricate webs we've spun? Was it the plan that we exist only in our minds and hearts? Why do we have to tolerate starting when the other's ending and end at the other's starts? Has it been written that we can only afford to infinitely chase each others heartbeats? Was it foretold that we're trapped in a singular notion that never really fits? Is the game set as such that we can never emerge as winners? How is it that the ocean was made out of our tears that flowed from rivers? Why is it that with our entirety we believe but do not know? What's the reason for the path made clear but we're too afraid to go? What does it entail to possess the very least but yet you covet it the most? How do you pride yourself in something but not allowed to boast? Why do we frantically scramble to piece together jagged shards? Can't we just play this blasted deck of lousy cards? Is it destiny or cruelty to have found then lost? Why does it seem absurd that we have all its takes but can't afford the cost? Is it the thoughts that **** or the emotions that debilitate? Is it the challenges we take on or the curveballs we anticipate? Why bother when sheer folly is all it seems to be? Why tarry when the heart is free and the mind is ready? Is it ridiculous to have found myself still very bothered? Is it wrong to question fate that had always bound us tethered? Why is the good always bad and the bad becomes worse? Is it true that the harder we fight, the deeper we immerse? Has life turned to be but sad little rhetorics? Are we but performers on stages coerced into theatrics? Is it time for me to surface this one-man submarine? Will it be so that if I do, my journey would then begin...?

Option quitting, done, tired. No hopelessness only acceptance. What is, continues and will not be stopped. This thing is not of myself, and all of myself. This is why it is accepted. Fighting is futile    and    been exhausted. One cannot expect that a person would be able to tolerate such constant change of disposition as an ebb and flow of the most extreme waters and of energy. These, are forever and they fight against the self and become the self. They only put forth little effort, that is all that's needed. It is strong.

Bipolar I am here sort of....
Because he was the robin, see I built him a birdhouse made of the fingernails I chipped from every time I was forced to button up my own flannel shirt It was quite silly and awkward-looking So it didn't bother me when he didn't want to live there It would take a lot of fake smiles and wooden blinds to tolerate a habitation such as the one I constructed for him So it didn't bother me when he didn't want to live there When he told me he was making a nest I took a paring knife from the kitchen drawer When he told me he was making a nest I gave him 10 inches of weave to (through) the twigs When he told me there were lots of split ends and varied shades I wasn't too hurt because it was true And I knew he would use twisty ties from bread bags instead Which were much more practical than 10 inches of lover's hair I just couldn't understand why he didn't give it back He misplaced it, he said How can you misplace something I had (longed) for him

ungrateful naivety (perhaps)
Words are often left unspoken amongst the mangled and the broken words can heal, but instead silence while we tolerate the violence on our bodies/ in our minds a tangled web, we dare not unwind to ourselves -and one another - we've been unkind, though we are lovers. Ponder this questionable existence where there is an abundance of resistance to be ourselves and feel the love constantly searching for a reason above instead of reaching out and extending our hand to our neighbor, our brother, "some kids in a van" It's funny how we land here in this position abandoning our families and breaking tradition to learn about the world and the way that it works some people have kinds souls and others are just jerks One day you ask an old man "Sir, may I have a dollar? I just want some food, maybe a water." His reaction could be harmful, harsh, judgemental the skill that needs building is very fundamental "You'll spend it on drugs! Get out of my face!" Discouraging words spoken of the human race, "Sir may I have a dollar or some food? Maybe water" Another man approaches as he walks with his daughter... The daughter tugs this man and she slips him some change How smart the children are.. Isn't it strange? with one small glance of the smile in this exchange the man understood, the answer was plain. Now you have a dollar, although not enough for food, inside you feel a warmth and a change in your mood. The youth can inspire every second, every day by giving out love hoping that the idea will stay. "Some kids in a van" were once your sons and daughters when people realize this, they seem to have a few more dollars words are often left unspoken each and every day- If you extended your heart and hand, that pain is sure to run astray.

"Kids in a Van"

It is definitely not just me Who finds these people lacking In spine, morals, sincerity; Why do we tolerate their slacking? Behaviour we should abhor Due to its outrageous hypocrisy, Yet these people represent us In what we call our democracy.  Our voice must be much louder To gain some true control Over the ducking and diving Politicians have taken as their role.

Funny little thing is she, She laughs at lightning in the storm. And what most would see as torture, She inflicts with pride and is not scared. Her skin is sharp like broken glass, And through her lover’s skin she tore. Through her safest home she tore. Stupid little girl is she. They try to mend her broken glass But the edges cause destruction of a storm. Please don’t run, don’t be scared, Don’t be a part of her torture. Running love is her only torture, Not pain that through her heart tore. Distance leaves her crying scared, Unable to control the fear in her. Maybe she is the rain in the storm, Shattering passing window glass. Maybe she doesn’t mind the glass, She doesn’t think this is torture. And maybe it’s not a storm, But a hurricane she tore Out of her skin. She Is no longer scared. The distance does not make her scared. Her skin is no longer broken glass. Alive little girl is she. Nothing more will be her torture. She doesn’t need the lover she tore. No longer does she hide from the storm. Not sunny skies, but no more storm. Not yet calm, but at least not scared. Not yet healed, but not torn. Maybe cracked, but not broken glass. Some discomfort, but it doesn’t feel like torture. Strong little girl is she. Screaming insanely she tore herself out of this storm. No one will say “she’s gonna lose it”. Because she somehow she is not scared. It’s a mystery how she fixed her glass, or how she can still tolerate the torture.

By Arcassin Burnham Mind half cocked, Gas prices turn to money slots, But the thing I don't tolerate is blacks getting shot, Over nothing, Act of ignorance, Changing appearances, The thing I don't tolerate is being judged by appearances, About some minor incidents, Situation and conscience, But I don't tolerate people talking ******** Starting with you, Destroy all your virtues, I don't tolerate the ignoring of a certain love you thought was true, I just don't tolerate it.

"#Tolerance Challenge"
I'm thankful for God I'm infinitely blessed And without Him I'd have no strength I'm thankful for my family They're my pillar in this world My support system My purpose I'm thankful for my dog I've never known such an unconditional love My dog is my light An extension of me I'm thankful for my friends The ones that have my back And tell me the truth We laugh together, think together Expanding our minds I'm thankful for the boy Who gives me his whole heart Says I'm his saving grace He makes me feel worthy Of the world I'm thankful for my university The thing that gives me hope Makes me feel like I have direction And a fighting chance in this society I'm thankful for the mistakes For they taught me how to grow And better myself Be the real me I'm thankful to those who have wronged me The liars, players, cheaters, and users They've shown me what I really deserve And what not to tolerate I'm thankful for nature Where I find peace in solitude The flowers, the sun, the moon, and stars They're my guide to faith and positivity Lastly, I'm thankful for my poetry Even though I'm not the best It's given me a place to express myself When I had no where else to go

Simply because someone spare you of your punishment, it doesn't mean they forgive you!!! It just shows that they are strong enough to tolerate you!!!
