An altar erected
in Athens commemorates
the spurned love of the metic
Timagoras,
who was rejected
by the young Athenian male
Meles; Upon hearing
of Timagoras'
declaration of love for him,
Meles had mockingly ordered
the older man
to hurl himself from the top
of the tallest rock;
But upon seeing Timagoras dead,
Meles repented
& threw himself
from the same rock
