In the cold grey light of the sixth of June, in the year of forty-four, The Empire Larch sailed out from Poole to join with thousands more. The largest fleet the world had seen, we sailed in close array, And we set our course for Normandy at the dawning of the day. There was not one man in all our crew but knew what lay in store, For we had waited for that day through five long years of war. We knew that many would not return, yet all our hearts were true, For we were bound for Normandy, where we had a job to do. Now the Empire Larch was a deep-sea tug with a crew of thirty-three, And I was just the galley-boy on my first trip to sea. I little thought when I left home of the dreadful sights I'd see, But I came to manhood on the day that I first saw Normandy. At the Beach of Gold off Arromanches, 'neath the rockets' deadly glare, We towed our blockships into place and we built a harbour there. 'Mid shot and shell we built it well, as history does agree, While brave men died in the swirling tide on the shores of Normandy. Like the Rodney and the Nelson, there were ships of great renown, But rescue tugs all did their share as many a ship went down. We ran our pontoons to the shore within the Mulberry's lee, And we made safe berth for the tanks and guns that would set all Europe free. For every hero's name that's known, a thousand died as well. On stakes and wire their bodies hung, rocked in the ocean swell; And many a mother wept that day for the sons they loved so well, Men who cracked a joke and cadged a smoke as they stormed the gates of hell. As the years pass by, I can still recall the men I saw that day Who died upon that blood-soaked sand where now sweet children play; And those of you who were unborn, who've lived in liberty, Remember those who made it so on the shores of Normandy. ________________________________________

Where we shoveled coal into the furnace was an inconsiderable door. Behind it held ***** chubby cherubs with cherry tomato noses, whose job it was to keep the fires of our parent's liquor cabinets full. This they did to keep them from constantly beating us, but the happy distraction did not always work. So, we would pluckily go. Go to the scuzzy pond at dusk with kerosine lanterns and listen for croaks. We tied forks to the ends of canes or stakes and would gig bullfrogs for dinner. It became only momentarily mortifying, but was always a choice way of ridding our sisters and other clingy girls of our company. We'd fry the legs in cornstarch and pepper flakes and be allowed to share with the adults their beer if it was a good catch. Usually, it was. Most of forever we waited for teaberry season, always the best time of the year. Though it was hotter than Beelzebub's bath water we'd go swimming in that **** pond to reach our favorite teaberry patches. This ensured our riches and fame throughout our Appalachian village. Everyone would eat teaberry ice cream and sing our names and no one beat us on those days.

Escaping The Heat
A blank page waits for words that it will never see Created from the head of someone writing a story Characters, plot, setting, theme, are central to the tale Without them every narrative is simply guaranteed to fail Stakes and consequences must exist for someone to pursue Whether treacherous of heart, or noble, brave, and true And if these traits stand not alone but mixed in with the rest That simply adds more intrigue to the outcome of the test Will he get the girl?  Will she rise above her station? Can a rags-to-riches fable captivate the nation? Who done it, where and why?  Are three questions most effective But often ****** requires the help of a detective These may seem like idle, fragmented bits of a much larger whole But actually they’re not; every type plays a role For you see, “someone” mentioned above is not a professional writer But an individual on a journey, and we all must face it like a fighter Characters are those you know and love, plot is what you choose to do Setting is where you live, theme defines what is important to you So why a fighter you may ask, someone who faces pain and strife? Because we encounter both good and ill as we write our book of life

Freedom
Indebted shadows prey on a prayer They drink up their glories and sins, While contending for souls so rare And endow nails upon my skin: Clever born, Hearty, And silver to the bone. Nevermore, Sadly, Now mutely grey in tone. “Awake! Arise! Win our war in Rome!” They break, They lie, And never came home. Forget Please never, This threat I sever, Regret? Too clever to lie. Faulty sins hoist a ****** banner While goodness is only a trend, And foes are convenient in manner Convenience: a conclusive friend. Too clever to lie What a convenience am I Am I: your conclusive friend; Answer as to why You raise the stakes high When you have no soul to lend?

Tentpole, stature tall and strong and Firmly placed between the thin sheets Members of the boy scouts, boy clan Flames extinguished, his body heats At dawn it rises, makes me wake ******* for the fire he gathers Morning wood, embers of the stakes Soon home; disapproving Fathers Morning **** calls, but we're busy Pack our bags, get all the work done Juice of life makes me quite dizzy Mem'ries of our weekend of fun I'll be dish and spoon to your spoon Spend nights together o'er the moon

No legacy is as rich as honesty to leave behind No asset is as great as honesty that enriches mind No voice is as powerful as honesty, your heart to guide No word is as meaningful as honesty to swell with pride. One who adheres to principle and facts , is honest One who loves for-what-than-who-you are , is honest One who inspires to be fearless and upfront , is honest One who dares to raise voice against injustice, is honest In actions ,words and dealings -be clear and transparent Corruption, bribery, flattery and nepotism-be always against Greats endure pain to follow righteousness, however difficult On life’s tight walk ,do not crave to strike rich without sweat. Win over lies, deceit ,treachery with love, respect and fair play Honesty is a jewel that shines-shines brighter, rest fades away Honesty is a bitter pill to gulp, gulp you must to lead the way Quality than Quantity of life matters most,at the end of the day. A child should be taught to be honest at a very early age Set an example by emoting honesty at every step and stage Honesty instils compassion ,concern, credibility and courage It is a virtue that differentiates between a devil and a sage. Stakes may be high ,don’t ever compromise on values A Right can never ever be Wrong ,however one views Forever under HIS scanner, keep hands clean and heart true (HIS ...GOD) Give best to the humanity the best will come back to you. Honesty
Sure, the Huns may be stronger, faster, But I’ll tell you first, it’s not disaster. They may be fearless, vice-less, And the stakes this day are priceless. That must weigh heavy on your mind, And it might away at your spirits grind. It makes your heart burn, your blood race, But on this day, they will be erased. They come, by day, by night, To conquer us and flex their might. Tonight, we’ll break their endless siege, Perhaps we’ll **** their liege! Let the sun blot with countless arrow, They fly like the chattering sparrow. Perhaps most will simply miss, And you shall brave the wooden blitz. That one, slash his head from his shoulder! Watch it fall off like a fleshed-out boulder; That’s it, keep riding, they’re already breaking! Your wives will, on your return, be waiting. Go back to hell from whence you came! Of the besiegers, we’ve killed and maimed! Haha, look at them run, back to their mothers; Keep them running for a hundred summers!

Bravery
I do not want to feel the pain of missing you. I don't want to walk to the end of my street without a hand to hold, and I don't want to stare at sunsets alone. I don't want to sit next to an empty swing at the parks we roamed, and I don't want to only bid you goodnight through meaningless letters. I don't wish to seek the comfort you bring, and the dull ache that follows when you can't. I don't wish to be so dependent on your presence. I do not want to love you in the way not spending time with you stakes me. But I still love you in the way missing you means ultimate sadness.

Like a captive, I capture rapture wrapping around stakes that matter Joan of Arc battered Also tattered but, easily dismissive Refracted from fractured prominent phrases people play with Distinctly persuasive and evasive, dressed boyishly attractive, lax stature, dawning armor crafted by absence as if asked about it- I’m drifted Protection is principle prerequisite, when fire is lit I sort of implore your aorta before it’s incinerated to ashes Dethatched as a habit, with swords or hatchets crafted to singe heartstrings that attached it While I slash slick Rick as a quick fix, To fend for pretend pretenses or presumed tricks, I can’t quit Cause I hit lips against hash spliffs fashioned with dashes of passion all while rationing fireball cinnamon sips Martyr to avoidance I gaze at fabled dazed gossipers galvanizing grips on gritty grapevines while licking warning labels through smoke haze on blurred lines Capably unstable Other eyes attending scandal circles able to shout lies and rekindle handed arguments on tables with locked smiles stay boxed in Avidly amiable Searching for counterparts when combusted or branded Toying with matches loses meaning when rules reseed Those vagabonds claim love is some all end hard bent to mend what the same above can’t comprehend. Breaking boredom, I pillage pillows with night terrors And ardent arsonists yearn for flames that churn, turn, liquefy and learn learned thoughts and smoldered feelings Completely complacent Melting in one another they are completing each other like two candles tryst true at a wedding day However later the blaze is severed, smoke sears, and charred black wick stands alone for them. Aggressive and progressive. As for me never pleading, fire forever fleets to streets between iron bars I built that cage in deep heat and seep dire dreams once desired Suppose I’m a skeptic Roasted or disconnected Just jaded, just met you Always over it too soon Burnt but I’m amused. The new definition of forbidden is "attempt to obtain" to try with hopes of success in the game of the insane the outcome is always evident the stakes are always high a battle sometimes imminent but the limit is the sky the game is a labyrinth the goal is undefined looking for the rules? just read between the lines the losers are complaining the sly ones always win if you want to taste the forbidden now's a good time to begin

What is Forbidden?
The tavern roof was smokey with a pall of blueish ash. The juke box was a- booming as it played "The Monster Mash". A giant puffed a burning witch whilst smoke rings he exhaled.... While victims of our neighbor, Vlad...on stakes were all impaled. The Faceless Man was grinning... from ear to missing ear. The hanged man turned his twisted neck to sip a mug of beer. The Headless Horseman shouted for an aspirin or three. He popped them down his gullet where his head was meant to be. The zombies waited tables and the werewolf tended bar. Mothra was the carhop and took orders car to car. Godzilla worked the griddle and served burgers ala carte. Dracula complained about the steak caught in his heart. Ghosts and ghouls were dancing with abandon on the stage While cyborgs did "the robot" 'cause they thought it was the rage. The mummy came unraveled as we took him for a "spin" As Frankenstein played tuba to contribute to the din. Igor brought "the monster" and then Freddie brought his claw. Jason brought his butcher knife and his buddy from "The Saw". The guillotine was working and the raven refereed So nevermore would pardons be allowed to intercede. The pendulum was swinging to the beating of my heart. I hoped that I would wake up soon... then did so...with a START! Halloween is coming.  So, I guess I should prepare. Watch out for bars with men from Mars... 'cause BEASTIES party there!

tufts of grass sit in the yard   hairy green patches of tenacity in a field of neglect half a screen guards a **** stained door   where someone painted, 214 the pit sits behind it waiting to be fed or to be chained again to the stake where, like any beast bound by gravity and the grave, he will make ceaseless circles,   smaller  e a c h  day,   unwitting sentry to those two legged creatures inside, who with or without the pit, lie prostrate, in dreamless bug rich beds     when they fall from sleep they too make circles bound by their own stakes and chains that can’t be seen but their pull is felt and their eternal rattle heard no matter how far from home the prisoners of tulip roam

How many times can I check facebook, check facebook check facebook? Glance, browse stalk, stalk harder. How many times can I watch a show on my computer? Watched, finished, next episode next episode next episode-caught up How many times can I get distracted, get distracted check emails—no new messages Entertain me, distract me, disconnect I want to be turned on standby, autopilot, you can think for me Keep the walls of paper from burying me, suffocating me Intellectually flat-line, a mental goodbye Lose consciousness, fake my awake Get lost, then found then actually find my way back to my workload Attempt the task that terrifies Look it in the eye, Unafraid eager and tackle it down to the ground One subject two three, But the pile it looms over me, consumes me I bit off more than I can chew Teeth that don’t release, don’t retract All I think of is how I should act Attack, straight on? That’s the best bet Nothing was ever accomplished by sitting down in fret The stakes are just too high to try A failed attempt changes impressions Self-Conceptions

Ribbons in you hair. Diamonds in your ears. Magazine clippings line the floor. Pictures clutter the desk. Friends, lovers, family. You feel like a faked ****** unwanted. Clinging to what you know is right and bordering what you know is wrong. Playing Russian roulette with fate. Rolling the dice and raising the stakes. Neither will save you now. But don't forget to smile and Bat your lashes. For when we leave you to rest in peace.

Unwanted
Sometimes thou seem’st not as thyself alone, But as the meaning of all things that are; A breathless wonder, shadowing forth afar Some heavenly solstice hushed and halcyon; Whose unstirred lips are music’s visible tone; Whose eyes the sun-gate of the soul unbar, Being of its furthest fires oracular;— The evident heart of all life sown and mown. Even such Love is; and is not thy name Love? Yea, by thy hand the Love-god rends apart All gathering clouds of Night’s ambiguous art; Flings them far down, and sets thine eyes above; And simply, as some gage of flower or glove, Stakes with a smile the world against thy heart.

Heart’s Compass
--- Once upon a time In a land so far away There was a wretched kingdom Were a vampire held sway He was very ancient Handsome as a knave Dressed in black and silken garb Was said to be quite brave But such a cruel creature He devoured the towns The soldiers were all petrified Would not defend the crown So the King of the castle Searched both far and wide For mighty men of valor To defend the countryside Finally up north He found a daring band Of golden headed Vikings To defend his failing land The company of Norsemen Could not be laidback They rallied their army And decided to attack! They put no garlic round their necks No ash stakes did they carry They knew not the vampire ways And so they were not wary But oh! What valiant men! They made quite a sight! Scaling the vampiric castle walls - IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT! The vampire, Vlad the terrible, Made a crimson flood Destroyed every one of them And feasted on their blood! It was before morning The darkest witching hour Vlad finished dispatching them His countenance was dour Then a light came streaking From the pitch black sky - It was a Valkyrie! She made a fearsome cry! "You! Vlad the terrible!" The ghoul looked up, aghast! "You feasted on my Norsemen - But I am here at LAST!!!" The mighty female warrior Shook back her golden mane "You've killed many villagers But won't do it AGAIN!!!" The brilliant armored woman Faced off the evil lord He laughed, "You cannot slay me! No! Not with that sword!" "And for all your armor What do you suppose? Your sweet delicious throat Is slender... and EXPOSED!!! The Valkyrie laughed She threw back her hair She let fly her sword It scissored through the air!!! The dreaded Vlad was impaled But NOT through his chest Through his very garments The great sword came to rest To a TREE the monster stuck Like a fly caught with a pin He could not free himself! And he saw the rising SUN!!! He struggled against his cape He'd have none of THAT! But Vlad could not break the sword So he became a bat! Up he flew to escape his fate But a ray of sun broke through With an arc he burnt to spark IT DESTROYED VLAD AS HE FLEW!!! The Valkyrie, triumphant, Cried out, "it is I!!! For when there is a battle, I decide who lives and dies!!! I decide the outcome! Tis not by happenstance... Won't see you in Valhalla *You never had a chance!!!* So ended the battle The Valkyrie WON. We thought we had the vampires done, Cornered as we raised the stakes. The fiends were caught against the font, An end to this for all our sakes. How foolish to believe That the stake would push itself, How blinded must we be To think we'd help ourselves. We fell back in confusion As their eyes lit stars of blue, Our fiery brand burned red in fear But the flames sputtered out on cue. We faced the devils in their line But they withstood our empty threats, And took us off one by one; It was time to pay our debts. They laughed at our misfortune. And gave us back our forks, They pointed at our dampened brand And sent us back to work. They drank from tattooed necks And supped from elder veins, And bled the middle dry And fed upon their brains. They tore up all our rights And placed death upon a throne, Who drove out justice in the night While Liber's throat did moan. They sold us all as slaves To merchants draped in skin, Cut from children's backs As the devils slowed their spin. So now we work until we drop, Exhausted in our penury. We're fed from blood banks on each street While we think that we're still free. The vampires grin within their church And play at pious once a while, And watch with glee as all they cut Divides us up in our denial.

Watched, finished, next episode next episode next episode-caught up How many times can I get distracted, get distracted check emails—no new messages Entertain me, distract me, disconnect I want to be turned on standby, autopilot, you can think for me Keeps the walls of paper from burying me, suffocating me Intellectually flat-line, a mental goodbye Lose consciousness, fake my awake Get lost, then found then actually find my way back to my workload Attempt the task that terrifies Look it in the eye, Unafraid eager and tackle it down to the ground One subject two three, But the pile it looms over me, consumes me I bit off more than I can chew Teeth that don’t release, don’t retract All I think of is how I should act Attack, straight on? That’s the best bet Nothing was ever accomplished by sitting down in fret The stakes are just too high to try A failed attempt changes impressions Self-Conceptions

Studying hard or Hardly Studying?
the sun beats loose fence stakes into the ground and I kiss each ray as if it were my own child the sky rains down a corpse of butterflied snow its wings— a brace to bend my broken legs straight my love begins to crawl setting the dry snow aflame burning patterns in the mandala snowfall sun’s flame whips its invisible lion snow lets the growl pass through and my bones cackle setting straight the image of sunny snowfall this sunday morning

A rotating wheel. Turning an axle. Grinding. Bolthead. Linear gearbox. Falling sky. Seven holy stakes. A docked ship. A portal to another world. A thin rope tied to a thick rope. A torn harness. Parabolic gearbox. Expanding universe. Time controlled by slipping cogwheels. Existence of God. Swimming with open water in all directions. Drowning. A prayer written in blood. A prayer written in time-devouring snakes with human eyes. A thread connecting all living human eyes. A kaleidoscope of holy stakes. Exponential gearbox. A sky of exploding stars. God disproving the existence of God. A wheel rotating in six dimensions. Forty gears and a ticking clock. A clock that ticks one second for every rotation of the planet. A clock that ticks forty times every time it ticks every second time. A bolthead of holy stakes tied to the existence of a docked ship to another world. A kaleidoscope of blood written in clocks. A time-devouring prayer connecting a sky of forty gears and open human eyes in all directions. Breathing gearbox. Breathing bolthead. Breathing ship. Breathing portal. Breathing snakes. Breathing God. Breathing blood. Breathing holy stakes. Breathing human eyes. Breathing time. Breathing prayer. Breathing sky. Breathing wheel.

Wheel (DDLC)
i wish i could forget my regrets as fast as i make them. i wish i could end my sadness as fast as it stakes me. i wish the sky above could change to black and put a stop to the thoughts as i succumb to sleep. i wish i fell asleep as fast as i crave sleep in the morning, waking, aching. i wish. and i can only do just that.
