"speedbump" poems
I want to tell you something but my lips are flicking sparks like a lighter draining fluid and I want to bombard you with all my ragged knots of truth but the words are stuck in traffic giving each other the finger ramming bumper to bumper so they can reach the nearest exit and my nerves are a rickety jalopy almost flipping over at the sight of any speedbump and I'm ripping at the edges like the pages of a Lynch script because I want to tell you something

Sentence Fragment
Please just slow down Work our way up I don't want to fall down If we hit a speedbump Let us not rush now It is so worth the wait I keep having to tell you We will not be late There is no time limit To complete our romance When given the option to walk or run I would prefer if we chose to dance Do not hurry along my dear You will skip past The beautiful scenery that is life It flies by too fast Enjoy the connection we have Ignore the pressure from outside As long as we are both headed to the same destination It shouldn't matter at which pace we decide to ride

Let Us Wait
I slowed down to run you over, so I wouldn't hurt myself.

speedbump
The night is perfect. Cold air relief From the loud Heat of the bus. Beyond the road People laugh And embrace; A perfect soundtrack That ignites the silent stillness. I don't know where You're coming from, So I look both ways: Left. Right. Left. Right. Left. A headlight! Every time An approaching car Announces itself Through engine and gravel, I turn and look up as A speedbump throws light Flaring through my retina, Obscuring everything, So that for a few seconds, I have no idea If it's you or not. And with each passing car, My anticipation Grows. And my excitement Grows. I am happy.

Cars
Last night I Covered myself in dirt and rocks Snuggled in to the ditch I dug myself into Pulled up my covers of grass Laid my head on a pillow made of gravel i dressed in cement this morning Crawled out of the ditch put on my helmet and nothing could hit me Indestructible Cars can run me over and not break my bones Designed to go over me unnoticed Am I a speedbump or a lost tire from an eighteen wheeler That tried to bypass the rules And ran off the road And got covered in dirt and rocks

Interstate 77
I am so glad Time changed your mind You were able To seek and find You claim you forgot Which is not as great Let us drop it Close the gate I hope we make it Past this looming speedbump Over the road It is only a lump Let's move on I think that is what's best My final decision: Put our problem to rest
