Who among you claims to be a man?
Let's see which of you are boys,
Who amongst you understands,
And who still clings to their testes and toys!

Thou shalt not strike a woman,
Lest you have your spine torn out!
You've no backbone; just a child's hands--
I speak without a moment of doubt!

Are your hands idle and loose,
And do they serve as the Devil's playthings?
Get to work, and put them to use!
Do not suffer the sloth idleness brings!

Do you covet thy friend's wife in sin?
Do not indulge your eyes' hunger!
For he who sinfully seeks skin
Shall be cast to Hell and linger!

If you've disowned a woman with your child,
You're a bastard with no manhood!
I hope Hell's flames more than mild
For those who choose to deny their brood!

With this said, who is still a man,
And who lives underneath a guise?
My father said, Stick to a righteous plan,
Or when you die... you're in for a surprise!

My flock, there are wolves among sheep!
They covet your work, your thoughts--
The bastardly thieves prey on the meek!
The fruit of your labors is sinfully sought!

Their treachery gives rise to a witch hunt!
Seek them out and banish the devils,
For they won't ever quit this ungodly stunt!
They must be exorcized for these evils!

Damnation awaits prophets with false tongues!
Have thou no shame for such slothful sin?
I wish your hands pierced through with prongs,
Until the day you can admit wrongs within!

Ostracize the heathens as they should be--
Sentence them to solidarity for eternity!
They deserve no piece of Heaven on HP,
For their plagiarism instills enmity!

Brethren, I preach, "Thou shalt not steal!"
Do not suffer their sins in such silence!
Rise up, and show them how you feel--
We will rage against the fools in defiance!

This goes to all the plagiarizers out there. We know you are out there, and we will not stand for your slothful, sinful ways. Repost this if you feel angered by plagiarism!

I love being fallible.

Remind me not too much.

What if Judas was a scapegoat?
A man who had so much
Faith in planning
That he
Would kill his God for it
With just the slightest
Hesitation
He became unable
To live within the new world he created
Bear the consequence of forgiveness
Sometimes consequences
Kill you by your own hand
And what if Revelation
Is a metaphor
For the wickedness of human nature
For the private palaces and castles
Golden idols
Hells and heavens in our heads
I ask
But Lori won't have it
She is far too literal
For all my liberal bullshit
She pulls my wayward soul
Back into the real world
Back in with the churchgoers
And Jim hugs the life
Back in my chest
They have held my hands
Through valleys full of death
And breakups
They have seen my makeup
Smeared across my face
They have seen me in the worst places
Wearing all my worst faces
And they still invite me over for dinner
So I fear no evil
When the Kaisers are with me
For they are witty
They are beautiful from the inside out
They are not afraid to get loud
And they have taught me
Everything I know about
Being a Christian
Even though I lose my way
Even though I lost my faith
In definitions
Wandering doesn't mean I'm lost for good
Just exploring my options
With my feet bathed in still waters
Getting tan
In green pastures
I will have these holy verses
Tattooed in my brain
Forever
All the comfort and humanity
All the divinity I could ask for
All the love I'll ever need
And just because they've
Heard me cuss
And seen me bleed
And probably
Read my shitty poetry
They would never judge me
They'd just slap me on the back
And say
"Quit worrying. Jesus loves you honey."
And in their prayers that night they'd mention me
So God could hear my name

The title kind of explains it. Jim and Lori Kaiser are retiring from teaching sunday school and I was asked to write to them and tell them what they have meant to me. (I could just tell them, I'm at their house enough). So this one is for them. I love you guys.

The man stood on a box
In the middle of the park,
When people walked by
The old boy would bark
“It’s in the Bible,” he cried.
And some people would ask
What is in the Bible, sir?”
Prepared to take him to task.

“Everything’s in there, friend!”
He answered with a smile
Feeling the people there
Would stay and listen a while.
“Well, that’s an easy answer!”
One of the onlookers said.
“You have left nothing out!”
The orator nodded his head.

“The Bible has answers for you
To any question you can say.
It will be your salvation, sir
No waiting until Judgment Day.
It tells you what to eat and then
Tells you how to choose a wife.
It tells you how to go to heaven
When you reach the end of life.”

The questioner replied, “Yes, sir,
And it tells of women made of salt,
And a fellow who walked on water
Another brought the sun to a halt.
It tells of a boat quite big enough
To have two each of every animal.
And people floating up to the sky.
Don’t you find these things incredible?”

“Not all,” the soapbox man said,
“God can do any holy thing at all.
He has made the planets, the sky,
The heavens and the waterfalls.
God knows everything and he is
Who speaks to you in your heart.”
The onlooker shook his head, said
“So, when does that stuff start?”

“What stuff, sir?” the orator asked.
“The part where God speaks to me.
I haven’t heard a word from God
And I have been listening, you see.
That would be a truly wondrous thing
For this God person to finally do.
But, if God speaks to all of us
Why the hell do we need you?

Robert Zanfad Apr 2013

he took my last quarter and dime,
pocket lint, the missing screw
of something I’d meant to reassemble
if I’d remembered or had time

then wandered off
rubbing shoulders with the sidewalk preacher
searching for signs of end times in rainstorms
or faint rumbles of passing traffic,
holding high his Good News
in a half-folded forecast for tomorrow;

this exodus -
across a patch of crabgrass
following a diagonal path of earth foot-worn
into a thin gray line defining the shortest distance
from his concrete corner to the door of the liquor store
justified a sacrifice of hours, the cold lies told:

lost wallet,
old mother,
car just out of gas

practiced to passersby or filling station patrons,
their rumpled tithes
reborn into an afternoon sermon
wrapped tight in brown paper
still warm with silent echoes of amen

Brothers and sisters, RISE
From all the oppression;
Buckle not beneath lies!
Stand against aggression!

Who are you to be put aside?
Who are you to be cast in flames?
Who are you to be thrown to tides?
Who are you to dig your own grave?

Who are they to chastise your name?
Who are they to decide your worth?
Who are they to justly blame?
Who are they to steal all your mirth?

"No more!" I do so lay this claim!
No more Valleys, Shadows, or Death!
No more will we play their game--
No more are we their fools to jest!

Who among you is without skin?
Whose been rendered of flesh and soul?
Whose been robbed of meaning within?
Whose been made to renounce control?

Take it back! Fight for your lives, friends!
Come together! WE are stronger!
It's the beginning of their end;
Tyranny won't last much longer!

WE must stand together and strive!
Where one is weak, WE are scary!
Unite; WE will take back our lives!
WE are Legion--WE are many!

Ugo Sep 2012

if we must die,
let it be known that
you're only as great as yesterday lets you.
that the leader of men carries the hope of all men.
that the world is never the final destination of life.
that man is only a photograph of heaven.

if we must die.
let it be known that eternity lives in every face.
that the mind is all but a femur of the unspoken soul.
that you are only a footstep ---
and every footstep must wash so to leave room for other footsteps.

since we must all die,
let it be known that you once stood--

let that be known.

Frank Ruland Nov 2014

YOU CANNOT ERASE US!
We are not stains upon a page,
nor are we mistakes to be purged!
Of your ignorance, we rage.

Who are you to make a mockery?
We sing quietly and write our songs,
whilst you laugh and cast stones!
Making us feel as if we don't belong!

Damnation and brimstone upon your heads!
We don't deserve this abuse,
and we won't take it lying down anymore,
for of your self-righteousness we are not amused!

No more Valleys, Shadows, or Death!
We are not afraid to face your evil,
we fear no man, no wickedness...
AND WE SHALL BOW BEFORE NO DEVILS!

The oppression hangs stiff and unrelenting
And the sincerity comes off too awkward and from left field
I just want to move, but all I can accomplish are twitches in different directions
You're talking at me, not with me
And I'm close to fabricating an elaborate story to put you in shut down mode so that I can continue on my day
I don't care about your message
I'm not buying your book, I'm not reading your pamphlet, and I'm not joining your group.
I'm eating a FUCKING burrito, and that's IT.

Frank Ruland Oct 2014

Tonight, in outrage, I preach.
I come before you in disgust.
You, my Flock, I do beseech:
There's swine amongst, we cannot trust!

They are wolves in sheep's' clothing
Who sinfully seek to savor
Innocent flesh, in loathing!
Their pleasure they endeavor!

Their hearts are black and souls, wrought!
The swine sickly lust angels' skin!
Husks left in their wake; they care not--
Angels stripped of grace within!

Damnation awaits the swine!
Brimstone and eternal Hell fire
Shall travel up all your spines,
As you roast on a pyre!

Rapists are the scum of the Earth and I hope anyone whose ever stolen away a girl's innocence burns at the bottom of Hell for all eternity.
