the walls of the inside passage look the same from sound to straight tugs and plugs dot the coastline as the quartermaster rolls giving time for evening glare   pods are in sequence as the high tail smashes and jaws at the krill white bellies and sea cows bob and weave as bow heads glide over haida gwaii   northern lights dance and tlingit chant as the tide settles softly on savory shores their getting hungry in hoonah as the blue back and beating drums mark the life blood of the sea   driftwood nets and sitka spruce surround the cook house ravens and tinhorns man the scullery kerosene lamps flicker as clam shells roast on open flames   villagers stroll on pebbled sand *in the harbor of souls where ships set sail on might and mass into the steady winds of the golden skies* ice fields (to the north) of kryptonite blue cutting hills at a glacial pace knuckle clouds above the snowline where warlocks craft a hidden trade   trappers, skinners muscle shoals grizzly feasts in kodiak bowl determined pilgrims on a dead horse trail in search of gold the holy grail

(Co-written with my awesome friend) The thought is savory But I know it won't put you in dismay Triangular in shape, but it needs not to be a worry As I can just imagine eating it all day I am gobsmacked by this medley of tomato sauce and stringy cheese Blimey! How dare you gobble this thing up and not share Oh, for a slice I'd get down on my knees A world without pizza wouldn't be so fair

*erstwhile a halcyon extant universe incessantly ceaseless cradled itself in hues of violet phosphorescence laced with cobalt shimmering stars perpetually whole it nonetheless sought to know itself encompassing all that is bubbling over in effervescent ebullience intertwined with indescribable catastrophic splendor it shattered into tens of millions of splinters of eloquent efflorescent light shining in the night each splinter heretofore imbued with sempiternal felicity began to conjure sumptuous dulcet elixirs furtively seeking out savory emollients to mollify the pique of separation plummeting they fell into monstrous competition seeking demesne they lost the purpose of gaining awareness and intelligent consciousness surreptitious estrangement overflowed deluging them in excruciating agony thus an epiphany was born the carving of the beleaguered fragments inked with tremendous pain created a transfiguration of splinters to crystals hence enlightenment commenced as the gems magnetized together constructing a world where omnipotence shines the ineffable beauty formed by the reintegration of crystals far exceeds the original as they dazzle with universal light bursting from diamonds etched in deep wisdom flooding the firmament with kaleidoscopic rainbow strobes cascading the sky ©2016janetaylor

crystals of light
I never sleep, and never will, I hold my breath, quiet, still. The slightest sound puts me on edge, a snapping twig, a rustling hedge. It matters not how far I go, how fast I run, how high, how low, There’s a monster after me… Huge and hungry, filled with hate, this creature would not hesitate, to slice me up, this is my fate, a pile of parts upon his plate… Yuck! Fear is the price that I must pay, For fear is what keeps him away, I tremble softly as I lay, or when I rise throughout the day, I’m terrified, I have to say… My future frozen by my fear, yet, I know the monsters near! And if I were to persevere, and let my terror disappear, the monster then  would find me here, and chop me up! That much is clear… Though some would say that I’m a slave, deep... Alone within this cave, How can they say that this is slavery, actively avoiding bravery? Don’t they know courage is savory, like some tasty monster gravy?! And, you may say that I am blind, to think that fear is something kind, that fear keeps monsters far behind, well, it’s worked this far, so I don’t mind…

Date Night
i’ll say it again. this is the only time i write with music. listen now and i’ll spin the wheel again, an ocean is no excuse for a tipped balance. trace origins back to சாதம், வீடு, பறவை. tip-toe to reach the top half of the stove, where the stories and the music are, but hand on head, not quite there yet. in the meantime, i hope my hands become as fire-glazed as yours one day. listen now and i’ll tell you how to live a life in compromises. here, come help me with my சாறி, no, i don’t have flowers for your hair, because there are are two different languages in this house. inhale savory vowels and lives rolled into the sun, exhale தயிர் without salt, a theoretical childhood, heart with half  the guilt. listen now for something i told my அம்மா: travel eight thousand miles by foot and open one eye, make a phone call and taste dew- glittering நெய் தோசை. listen now for a final time. when there are not enough unfurled petals of this world, look up and find the பௌர்ணமி in a hidden corner of your heart. blink once to skip time zones, twice to remember the promise of a thousand locusts and monsoon rain.

Ice cream is sweet and quite the treat A savory delight I crave at night At almost any time and any where, it is worth to desert for this dessert. Some keep it vanilla while others want a twist. Sometimes it's good to mix or other wise switch. Maybe you're ***** can't resist other flavored dishes? What if you were denied it or could no longer find it? *** how I'd crave its taste, but at least I'd lose weight. Other substitutes are lame and aren't quite the same. Regardless, I would survive and still be able to thrive. Why is *** so different? It's a biological need you'll probably say, so you, can't compare the two. I disagree completely. Though we'd all prefer not to be lacking, it's not as if we'd die for wanting. Additionally, people have lived ascetically and have been perfectly fulfilled and happy. Those kinds of people aren't born that way, but rather we are conditioned to be *** crazy. We are made to feel as if we are measured by who or how many we've been with. It is validation we truly desire and to know we always matter. And though *** is one of life's greatest gifts, it does not give your life an overarching bliss.

A Sweet Gift
We were teammates We suited up We showed up We weren't stars But we rolled in the dirt With the best of them Our blood ran red Like the rest of them Our sweat tasted salty As the most athletic of them Wounds and bruises Ached like the most Stalwart of them We were Bulldogs! We anted up our Gifts and talents to Forge a winning season A flair for humor Wry observation, Encouragement, fortitude And intelligence were as Valuable as speed, Agility and strength We all pined for the Affection of cheerleaders, Bandmembers and the Adoration of fans We equally joined In the chorus of locker room banter And honored the Confidence of camaraderie Such intimacy bares We endured thankless Adversity, while wending through anonymous toil As brothers We grudgingly drank From the vile cup of defeat And passed the chalice Of victory among us To share the savory Taste of triumph As champions The Duke of Wellington Said “the battle of Waterloo Was won on the fields of Eton” I trust my teammates and Not forgotten friends Tasted sweet victories of Happiness and success As they coursed through Their prodigious fields of life And at games end I hope their heart swelled With pride to know they were A beloved and Valiant Bulldog David Irving Korsh #75 BCSL Champion 1973 Rutherford Bulldogs Well done Valiant Bulldog God bless and Godspeed Music Selection: Bruce Springsteen Thunder Road 5/5/18 Puyallup jbm

I Have Tasted Human Flesh
I contemplate I buy it on aromatic instinct The fight emerges Don't eat it! You're not even hungry! I sit in my head While the words debate The palate ultimately wins My hands follow orders The sweet melting chew Savory icing Made for my mouth I close my eyes Taste buds dance Pure enjoyment A moment has escaped me In my candy land Until it's gone A guilty pleasure Plagued stomach Churning to Disappointed intestines An alien They don't quite understand As it has no nutrients or vitamins to absorb Sending the lipids and sugars Away to live as fat Surrounding areas I dislike most I look in the mirror And I imagine where that regretful donut went. © Jl 2016

On a night I feel has been well lived met is her sweet becoming gaze that savory ocular innocence built to shadow her soft, fluid, longing intent that whispers, "I am open to you." And so she calmly is and with my head full of rocks and irrelevance I unconsciously enter and sigh Once, again, twice more our love traces a metronome So soon does it become an inhale exhaled I lean into her limbs aside in a love extension a vital push through tension and the small red brook that follows flows to fill a page and rest a mind

Virginity
Dough making with flour and water Salt and butter Calls for kneading In ritualistic candor As parts come together To an irreversible matter The soft cushion of dough between the palm and the bowl pliable with every push and shove stretched and compressed In sheepish conformity Blistered on  skillet Puffed up to a chapati Heavens thanked with each bite For flat bread with savory curry Fills nostrils with soft aromas- Relished as heaven on tongue- One is contented of this flat bread

GIOVANNI THE PIZZA GUY
Pizza--the only I want to poor my feelings onto Because when I think of its filling capacity-- Its carb-heavy, fat drenched, and sugary-savory goodness-- I honor the people who continue the artisinal craft. Pizza--it's the food for all hungers. It fills you with energy when you're high, Just after a win with a cheery, rowdy gang of five. It's the traditional topping on the pie. Pizza--All and everything, when the time calls. When the emptiness cannot be filled, Let it be filled with years of associations. All in good company, Pizza, my best friend. So I met a new person today--quiet and resourceful, She was counting her inventory, Solving a problem set or learning a new trick. I barged in while she put aside her life for mine. She said, "What may you have, sir?" "A medium with pepperoni," I said, "and linguica, please". That was all that's said as she carried on her fees. "That'll be $18.05," and a shot of guilt charged me. Pizza, though poor my feelings how expensive the taste! When, just then, she collected the money The pizza was all too simply done and I was on my way. I was the one left, saying, " Well, enjoy your weekend!" But as I drove and the pizza aromatized, Neither she nor I were free from capitalized. A self-disciplined pizza artist, stripped of her dough, Like the boy who made chocolate with a molinillo.

About pizza
Mediocrity isn't my favorite flavor But I make do Tasting other sensations and qualities as well. Like candied revenge, And carmeled success. But mediocrity is slightly different It's bitter... But not enough that it would ever cause me to settle For something else That was further from my seated reach. It's also stale, at times, As if it were left out on a bar all night, To be eaten by others looking for, well Anything. As I bit down on mediocrity once more I couldn't help but salivate At the thought of achievement and drive Memories of their savory aftertastes overtaking the putty being mulled about my teeth. And I swallowed the paste. Mostly to get the taste out of my mouth. But as my taste buds clear, And my thoughts drift elsewhere. The idea that one more hand full of mediocrity Might not be that bad. Creeps into the back of my mind. After all, It is within reach.

The Taste of Mediocrity
Lying beneath the stars longing to feel your honest heart beet. Returning to the dirt we came from, I can feel your breath hot and sticky filling the gap between us. Scrupulously steaming us vegetables. I can't help but imagine biting into your savory peel. Some say the skin is the most nutritious part. I inhale the ripe droplets dewing across you, and wonder what we'd look like mashed together. Stuck in a blender. Ripped apart and delicately reassembled. And then I remember, That we already were.

Savor Your Agriculture
Discernment of facts escape a blind eye Incalculable deceit fell upon naive assumptions of decorum Virtues so easily replaced by a blanket of colorful chattel Now, countless blankets dance about, as ghosts on a paved route chosen with intent of endless future passage And now, to escape the realm of falsities every eventide is exchanged for repose and closed eyes Pleasure, promises, and poetry she gave only to have something to take away In vengeance of a caustic past Aphrodite unleashed artful malevolence into a fallen heart Oh, how so much exists where there is nothing Emptiness can be full of such desire And oh, the bitter taste of sweet words from the unrestrained lips of a liar An offering cloaked with savory fruit in cordial hands Swearing to give it all in the big apple and then seducing to her roots in the yard Absorbing a soul Only to create a martyr of forlorn cause An abomination can appear so sweet when emptiness needs filling A demon from below, delightful, before killing Nostalgia, a trail of footsteps in the mud Like a fingerprint with an unquestionable owner Arduous wails reaching the extents of one's universe as a pawn and patriarch share reflection in the stagnant tide knowledge of good and evil, once a desire, now a curse yet, finally held Gratefully numb with inescapable acceptance Scott Mitchell 09 Dec 2012

Apathetic Abyss
Savory sense to ease my worry Walked in the mist, mild with fury Graveside scene, eerily silent Souls of the dead speak out in violence Mind numbed feelings, frozen with fear Take the next step, not going near Hair stands on end, weak at the knees Black cat crossed, begging you please Lay down and listen, whispers at night Can't close my eyes, a moment I might Rust broken gate, iron wrought ring Shhh do you hear? The dead starts to sing

Graveyard Walk
With chords, thoughts and moves There laid two flying creatures, they had abandoned their shields at the front door when the wine started playing down the walls soaking pole to pole, they drank it with arranged wings, the two seagulls. Little did they know how falsely wary were their bodies already soaked The blue one fluttered to the north air She looked to the sun and knew Too late, the shield was no more in her care When the rain started falling from conflicted clouds in the absence of her rig the seagull languidly tried to cease the drops. No logic to coat the sense All the way deceived by her ghost defense With blurred movements in the sea carpet there came to her sight a savory brown trout murmuring wine memories to the seagull and the only drive in her mind: dip into the water; gently slip her claws through the fish; fiercely devour it; until it's no longer a wish For long she was flying up and down, viciously all around, the blue seagull would see images of the trout in every fish when she was drowned. Little did she know the true brown to go down her throat was by then a far away memory of the one seagull soaked in wine And the moves, thoughts and chords.

Famished
A satisfied appetite is a simply joy Overlooked and simplified Like a growing urge, a salivating need That is entrancing and glorified. Everlasting for moments we call meals Forgotten in time, lingering above But the taste, the lonesome lover pushed aside Gazes afar and near wanting to be enjoyed again The young lady with a tongue of raspberry delight And the matured widow with darkened cacao lips Ripening nectar of a sliced peach center Halved and topped with mascarpone crème The man with a skin of caramel glaze Caressing and savoring With a fragrance and scent Of hazelnut coffee indulgence and sin In the pursuit of a brief love affair What oral sensation did my taste buds want? My odyssey of gustatory endeavors await Through the seas of lined people and waiting staff Generous portions and humble pies Decadent desserts so rich you’ll die Vine cherry tomatoes sliced and sauté Over al dente rigatoni in a roasted cashew sauce A robust aroma and savory appeal Basil leaves with garlic strips Olive oil to top the surreal Hubristic meatball aborigine Elysian cuisine or many dreams Teasing the senses, warming the pit Of flowing pleasures And tingling fingertips Without moral measures And succulent wines Rotisserie lamb falling of the bone Seasoned with Sicilian herbs And paired with broiled asparagus Drizzled with lemon juice And a glass of Merlot Spices I hardly know Lachrymose apologies beside a bottle of faded sorrows With love there is pain, passion endured through the names Thin soups, flavorless and dull, feeding street-thrown bums Breathing hard against the delicatessen glass Hickory smoked hams, pepper-seasoned pastrami Vinegar cultured pickles and hard dried salami Unpleasured, without measure, at one's leisure. Forever my endeavor Blackcurrant tea laced with slivers of gooping honey Layers of cinnamon hair atop olive skin red-painted doors with cedar trim crushed almonds mixed with hazelnut butter cream spread devilish rounds of crumbling rum-swirl bread Smells and wonders, tastes so ... oh god Divine and sublime.
