Might there be a fountain
where souls long dead from thirst
find spirits raised to life in floods abounding free,
so that what once walked as corpse,
night-bound and blind, may see?
Old self exchanged for Treasure,
diving in tastes such rejuvenation
as can't be weighed by mortal measure—
wine unlike our earth-grown fruit whose petals fall,
from this Vine flowers the pleasantness of Love Divine
which bathes in healing waters all
who come as humble newborn with bold **** to dine.
"Jesus answered, 'Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.'"  John 4:13-14

"Then Jesus declared, 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and he who believes in Me will never be thirsty.'"  John 6:35

"On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, 'If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.'"  John 7:37-38

"'I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in Me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.'"  John 15:5

Structure inspired by a poem from the journal of Jim Elliot
The Rogue Poet Nov 2013
I centered the poem for you to aknowledge it,
I got back from having an amazing night,
While I go out to have fun as I give amazing vibes,
hang with me and you WILL have the time of your life,
don't mean to sound cocky but my presence is impeccable,
I have fun and live life as expected too,
I have no worries because I overcame what I have been through,
24 years of age and I have wisdom of an old man but party as I am 18,
No longer a follower because I set my own rules,
I turn heads and set trends,
watch me as I spread brand new salvation,
P.L.U.R. is what is needed to be spread across our nation,
I love what I do and do what I love,
EDM baby is what is going to build and complete us.

The sea swallowed me
in its' salty waves.
Pursued me in its'
I was unable to see in its' wake.
Breath in its' presence.
Its' depths and darkness engulfed me.
All these lived here.
And then came you....
My words.
My voice.
First thought,
Then gathered,
Finally written,
Then Shared.
Poetry YOU saved me
from myself.
The wolf came upon us all
to devour the wicked and the weak
he would stare into your eyes
if he sensed you were good and true
he would walk away
leave you and yours
to live another day
So when the wolf came near
I chose to stand
next to you
for Lori, Riley and Kendrick

the questioning words jump off the page,
into two hands transforming,
words shape shifting into
multicolored ink stained fingers,
now, all a chokehold on my brain,
my throaty gasps rasping from
a simplistic convolution -
single questioning deserving an answer

what are you made of?

the obvious answers left in the slow lane,
bone, tissue, rivers and arteries of blue bloods,
just oil and fuel of a containership,
but the cargo carried, that’s the real stuff

you have insight inside that cannot be seen,
self-survival instincts that morph into morals,
our shared air affects you differently,
a sense of defending, caring,
costless  and costliest simultaneously,
spaghetti strands strong sinewed intertwining,
into a better human than most

to call you hero is wrongly insufficient,
but the thesaurus lends me no substitute,
weep, I do,
as the spring and summer blushing green
will not be seen by you at all, and by me,
seen now so differently,
when thinking of
soil-born courage instinctual that has no name,
but grows only in nature

what are you made of?

we know now, but knew not well,
that thing that makes you leap first,
was all you, the entirety of the best,
that exists, existed, as reminders to us,
to mine it, wear it,
medal it upon our fabric

you three,
breathe it back, exhale it from where ever you are,
that trace chemical odor in our atmosphere,
of life-giving sweetness, a rebirthing chlorophyll freedom
that we humans all desperately need,
even just to know it exists,
and inform us

what we need to be made of
“As shots fired inside a synagogue outside San Diego last month, Lori Gilbert-Kaye, 60, put herself in between the shooter and the rabbi and died as a result.
Riley Howell, 21, charged a gunman who burst last week into a University of North Carolina-Charlotte lecture room carrying a pistol. He too lost his life to save others.
And Tuesday inside a STEM school in Denver, Kendrick Castillo, 18, lunged at a fellow student who had pulled a gun in class, giving his classmates time to take cover. He was the lone student killed in the attack.”

I picked up flowers in my garden before first days of autumn, dried to save them from black magic of winter and cold breaths of sky. I put them between warm rays on my windowsills in arms of cozy home to bring spirit of life forever in their bones. I saved compositions of their scent on my lips, so you will feel endless, enigmatic, healing symphony in my kiss. I will leave sweet taste in your mouth little by little until dark mirror of your thoughts and wounds break into innocent fields of flowers full of butterflies and indispensable, clear-eyed raconteur of happiness speaking in every fragile petal silences your fleeting and long-lasting demons endowing your shadow with seductive light, tiredness with aliveness of grass, broken dreams with ubiquity of creation, fears with ineffable tranquility. This is how I love you. I will save you from the worst. I will never let you die inside no matter how cold are your days. I will fill your soul with air of metaphysical love of past eras and magic of innumerable, free-flowing joys not based on any circumstances. I will fill your thoughts with romantic myths and insatiable fantasies and old-fashioned poems. I will cover you to sleep with my dragonfly soul no matter how cold life could be.

isn't it crazy,
How we think of being saved,
as a life being rescued.
but death can save too.
Death can save someone,
from much greater things.
Things that mentally ****.

because of you
when feel defeat
i now bleed black ink
to hello poetry:
thank you for giving me an outlet. a place where I can speak freely when i am at my lowest, in the darkest place i can reach. thank you for giving me a place to i can put the thoughts that i cant comprehend in my head, and making me realize I'm not alone. i cannot thank you enough!

Sunlight plays
across the field of flowers
alluring colors
consume me
in timeless beauty
sorrow fades
while joy skips easy
to new heights
the rare light
seized in my mind
this moment
I won't let go
yes I am
touched by something
that blooms and grows
reason to live
so obvious now
Thoughts in flames, soar high
PASS the Extinguisher words
Art under control
Thoughts from times,  when life is busy and writing takes a backseat :))

PASS- Pull Aim Squeeze Sweep, words

A dead flower - that´s what I am.
Nobody thought about what I needed
and nobody wanted to waste their time.
And now that I dried to death,
they´re trying to save me
but they´re drowning me instead.

I saw it in his eyes
So broken and lost
Broken heart hiding behind a “smile”
He was a joke
Everyone found him weird
Not me
I knew his past
Dark and bullied
He tried to hide it
No one cared
No one except me
Hi guys this is my first poem
Your eyes are like windows
They let the light through
The dark place I lived in
Will never be true

Sometimes I wish to
fly away from all the
worlds problems with
my girl at my  side, I
know she's no longer
here but still like to

I don't think dreaming
does me any harm
saved me probably
keep me from self-harm
so for now I'll just go
on dreaming of my
lovely wife
Dreams that have probably saved me from self harm

Hello everyone,

I'm so very sorry … I feel horrible doing this, but I have no choice. You see, I have published my first book on Amazon/Kindle! This piece (and many others) had to be taken down because they do not allow published material to be available online for free. (Go figure) I wanted to leave the shell of the posts because I felt compelled to leave all your helpful and loving comments. (Silly sentimental, I know), but I also didn't want to just have the pieces disappear without an explanation. I feel bad enough as it is!

I owe ALL of you so, SO much for all of your reads, love, and support. It was YOU that gave me the gumption to FINALLY get off my **** and publish! Thank you all for the warm comments, camaraderie, and encouragement! I will still be here, reading, uploading and just being the Rascal that I am. How could I EVER leave you guys?

The book is called “The Way I See It – FictionPhilosophySoul Food” and it will be FREE for the first few days on Kindle Select, so watch for it, if you are interested. I hope that you go and grab it. If you do, I would also hope that you find it worthy, you would leave me a good review. That will help me get in the public eye! Soon afterward (2-3 days or so), it will be available in paperback. I will be building my Author page tonight (12/21/2018) and my website finished first thing Monday!

Find the book(s) here:

Or find the book(s), and all about me, here:

Soon after, I also hope to have my first novel (a supernatural thriller), called “Wanderer” available as well!

  Wish me luck!
Big, Biggest Love,
        Jeff Gaines
My first ever venture into horror. But ... it's not what you think!

Were you fooled all along or did you figure it out before the end? I'd love to hear your comments.

That's all I'm gonna say. I hope you have had and are having a safe a fun Halloween!

What is Pure?
Pure being white
Like a blanket of snow
Or new
Like a child who was just given birth to
Like a heart that is always helping and
Never for turning something down
Or a mind that is never in the gutter or
High like a kite on a windy day
Or a human who waits to give up their gift to another
When the first two humans on earth were created out of dust
Then her out of his rib cage
Before they ate the fruit that turned them
After that man took you, beat you and ***** you
until all that was left of you was brokenness and the feeling of impurity
and tears running down your face
thinking why me?
All the friends you make before they lie, talk behind your back
And leave you for other friends
Honey straight from a beehive no sugars added or other ingredients
Is God
Sending his Only begotten son to die on a cross for us
Who did no wrong
Who loved everyone
Whose ways were right
Never lied
Never leaves us
Always there
Always listening
Always there to give a hug when we need one

Perfection for it never makes a mistake
Ultimate sacrifice is never selfish
Real for how could it ever be fake?
Everlasting love that never hates
Is Pure
