"rejoicing" poems
XXVII. TO ARTEMIS (22 lines) (ll. 1-20) I sing of Artemis, whose shafts are of gold, who cheers on the hounds, the pure maiden, shooter of stags, who delights in archery, own sister to Apollo with the golden sword. Over the shadowy hills and windy peaks she draws her golden bow, rejoicing in the chase, and sends out grievous shafts. The tops of the high mountains tremble and the tangled wood echoes awesomely with the outcry of beasts: earthquakes and the sea also where fishes shoal. But the goddess with a bold heart turns every way destroying the race of wild beasts: and when she is satisfied and has cheered her heart, this huntress who delights in arrows slackens her supple bow and goes to the great house of her dear brother Phoebus Apollo, to the rich land of Delphi, there to order the lovely dance of the Muses and Graces. There she hangs up her curved bow and her arrows, and heads and leads the dances, gracefully arrayed, while all they utter their heavenly voice, singing how neat-ankled Leto bare children supreme among the immortals both in thought and in deed. (ll. 21-22) Hail to you, children of Zeus and rich-haired Leto! And now I will remember you and another song also.

The Homeric Hymns: 27- To Artemis
Even though humans struggle to live and darkness is easier memorized than light.. Moments of bliss and happiness are still likely to occur, Perhaps not today perhaps it will take a longer time, That is what I find very beautiful, The love of life which rarely is set ablaze by events, Rejoicing, in the truest bliss alike spiders in their tiny dance, Forgetting the heavy rain and feeling alive on the highest level, Even though, it is likely to fade as if it was dust carried away by a gentle breeze of the coming spring, far away till the horizon, A moment of love can change a persons view of the world, Motivate them to keep on fighting to experience the sheer amount of joy and happiness carried to them by the purest state of the mind, Until all the shrapnel of their hearts rejoin and shine beyond the scene, with light coming from above the heavens, golden, free of sin, And when the sunset ends these cheerful moments, their memories live on, reminding, recalling and pointing out to fight furthermore, Even though humans stuggle to live wretchedly, Living, Is what I find very beautiful. ~ Umi

Blooming Spirits
The King of Victory It was a Sunday not quite like any other. The time was near that Jesus would be handed over to the rulers of this world and be subject to them so that he might save many. On their way into the city of Jerusalem, Jesus sends two of his disciples ahead to bring him a donkey to ride in on and to say that the master has need of it. Jesus rides into the city on the back of a donkey and all around him celebrate and rejoice singing praise and giving glory. They lay their cloaks and palm branches which represent victory on the road ahead of Jesus for him to walk on. It truly is a joyous day in the city of David. No one there seems to have any idea that in one short week this parade of celebration would be no longer and many of these very same people would be parading him through these very same streets condemning him and calling for his death. Jesus your life came full circle. Before you came into this world you entered Bethlehem outside of Jerusalem riding on the back of a donkey in your mother’s womb. A week before your death you would humble yourself once more and come ride into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. A humble beast of burden, an animal that carries a heavy load and serves. You bore the weight of the cross and the weight of all of our sins and you served us faithfully even when we were not faithful to you. We are so much like the crowds that gathered on Palm Sunday; rejoicing, singing your praise and giving you glory one moment and the next moment we are also the ones who are calling for your death, mocking you and jeering. Still, you look upon us with endless love and mercy. You forgive us, you redeem us, and you call us quietly to return to you once again. You would suffer and die so that on the third day, we might finally see that no power on earth or hell or anything above can separate us from your love, and showing us once and for all you are the King of Victory! AMEN!

The King of Victory Meditation
The King of Victory It was a Sunday not quite like any other. The time was near that Jesus would be handed over to the rulers of this world and be subject to them so that he might save many. Jesus rides into the city on the back of a donkey and all around him celebrate and rejoice singing praise and giving glory. Touch as the fervent feeling seek to know the ambiguity of it, Feel as the ****** of a sparrow wing crept upon my dreams, Fathom as the grief of rocks shrieked on deserted mountains, And the Sky was blue Touched by a Crescent Moon Unraveling the hidden truth How life was promised to me and you Awe as landscapes vanished from distant perplexing shores, Sigh as Long ships sailed on white ashes coasting inherently, Fright as the voluptuous sights, faking wonders in my night, And the Sky was blue mellifluously My Heart as to see a magnificent feeling to be free the beauty relentless, endlessly weave Pray as the growing wind whisper, a phrase to forever keep, Kneel as crowds offered Him, a gratitude of rejoicing praise, Trust as dandelions glides, the strength of His binding faith, And the Sky was blue for God is forever faithful & true to broken lives, he one's renew Keeping his promise to come again soon Awake as the daybreak reveal, memories of our love revisit, Sing as angels on white veil’s, bring you to heaven's place, Gone is the world I once knew, eyes closing as my soul flew, Amen...

◦ And the Sky was Blue
Two halves make a whole Two hearts join to become one soul Two eyes that see one truth We see different skies but take comfort in the same moon We promised to never leave the other alone, that the love would not be gone too soon Rejoicing in the moments from heaven, Comforting each other when hell breaks loose. Together through each others mountains and rivers. Forbidden lust, forbidden love Two souls that are forced apart Two that yearn the others heart Accepting each others flaws One boy that’s far away from home, One girl that’s questioning her own But half a heart is better than none cause it can always be completed by the chosen one, But half a heart is like half a sun Would it still be as bright as the full one? Would the love be the same knowing that the other is not as strong Why must these two hearts fight what’s in their souls This burning desire This passion they hold Why must they put the flame out and become cold Why waste away the hearts of others when they know the real future is with each other Why not combine their hearts to become whole, to become one soul. But having half of anything is like having half of nothing at all It’s settling for half the love Yet it could be more Having half of love must be impossible, must be wrong -The world is only existent because of wholes One half cannot love for both One half cannot fathom growth. So why not have two halves of a heart Two broken souls Let the shattered remains of the other halves be the glue that makes these two people’s love whole Because why face the world as half a person When facing it as a whole is already near to the impossible Two halves of a heart make a whole Two hearts join to become one soul But these two halves will never join These two people will face the world alone- together, but lonely, like two sides of a coin Not knowing the existence of humanity is dependent on whether they choose to love each other or choose to let it go. The existence of humanity is dependent on all our lost souls.

The moment she realized she had taken back her happiness was one of the greatest moments of her life. The light shined in and her soul, heart, and mind melded together rejoicing in the fact that they were finally on the same page.

Reunited... Feels Good
XXVI. TO DIONYSUS (13 lines) (ll. 1-9) I begin to sing of ivy-crowned Dionysus, the loud- crying god, splendid son of Zeus and glorious Semele. The rich- haired Nymphs received him in their bosoms from the lord his father and fostered and nurtured him carefully in the dells of Nysa, where by the will of his father he grew up in a sweet- smelling cave, being reckoned among the immortals. But when the goddesses had brought him up, a god oft hymned, then began he to wander continually through the woody coombes, thickly wreathed with ivy and laurel. And the Nymphs followed in his train with him for their leader; and the boundless forest was filled with their outcry. (ll. 10-13) And so hail to you, Dionysus, god of abundant clusters! Grant that we may come again rejoicing to this season, and from that season onwards for many a year.

The great New York metropolitan stretching its  vibrancy trafficking its wears. Car horns combating in contemptuous arguments habituated eardrums unwittingly pulsating Great buildings upward; towering behemoths in grandiose splendor This great asphalt jungle sprawling its electricity for blocks, for miles The jazz of the city continues the chanting; the sounds of bass and the blowing of the **** sax, the horn, the piano and the drums drumming on its rhythmical beat Beating hearts feeling the vibrancy; the shock waves of nuances echoing the great hustle Multitude of voices singing praise to the different tongues; vibrant in diverse rejoicing, the poetry of men and women Metropolitans claiming the world condensing into small blocks and listening to its RHAPSODY.

VIBRANT HUSTLE A jazz-poem
the urban ecosystem breeds the urban beast; the two-legged feral brute they board their clockwork motorcages the young ones in predatious packs the old, too weathered to care animal autonomy born from sweatshop routines i imagine myself as a metropolitan jane goodall observing and assimilating taking note of the cacophony of hoots and and hollers the city-born mating calls the high-topped courtship dances ******* civility born from enslaved mindsets a young, dark-skinned boy let's rhyme flow freeformed to the rhythm of a young girls dancing feet stomps and claps excite the celebration of abandoned social etiquette and of my foreign presence i resemble some exotic missing link a mix of this, that and the other my skin, a rare quilt and this draws more attention than a gold-dusted african queen i place myself in the back peering through the windows of this transit jungle feeling my heart skip beats boom...boom...shhhh... i must've left my rhythm in my other heritage because i can't catch the ancient flow but my neck leads my head in bobs my brain rattles with old soul memories and i see these young folks on the train held back by centuries of black struggle but forever rejoicing in african pulse forever embodying our ancestoral pride and i think, how peculiar on the outside looking in like a fishbowl exiled from my own brown-skinned tribe with my oppression fitted like a glove my blackness a mere disguise my blackness camouflage my blackness not quite black enough

Transit Jungle

Under a spreading chestnut-tree The village smithy stands; The smith, a mighty man is he, With large and sinewy hands; And the muscles of his brawny arms Are strong as iron bands. His hair is crisp, and black, and long, His face is like the tan; His brow is wet with honest sweat, He earns whate’er he can, And looks the whole world in the face, For he owes not any man. Week in, week out, from morn till night, You can hear his bellows blow; You can hear him swing his heavy sledge, With measured beat and slow, Like a sexton ringing the village bell, When the evening sun is low. And children coming home from school Look in at the open door; They love to see the flaming forge, And hear the bellows roar, And catch the burning sparks that fly Like chaff from a threshing-floor. He goes on Sunday to the church, And sits among his boys; He hears the parson pray and preach, He hears his daughter’s voice, Singing in the village choir, And it makes his heart rejoice. It sounds to him like her mother’s voice, Singing in Paradise! He needs must think of her once more, How in the grave she lies; And with his hard, rough hand he wipes A tear out of his eyes. Toiling,—rejoicing,—sorrowing, Onward through life he goes; Each morning sees some task begin, Each evening sees it close; Something attempted, something done, Has earned a night’s repose. So everything went as nameless as the men who lifted her naked from the tub, or those who rolled her into the mouth of the furnace, which is what you get when you don’t get a service, when your mother’s years of grief turn last to rage: I won’t pay for it. Leave me out of it. And even though they finally said it wasn’t suicide; a mistake— no one knew what to do with all of that anger, or in the end how not to blame her. Even now, in her unmarked container. * People once believed a deeper reason, some dark secret motivation to the way the lemmings threw themselves en masse into the sea. Were they weary of their lives; could they, too, despair? Or like those second-vessel swine when Jesus exorcised two babbling men of their demons, driving the demons through a pack of bewildered hogs— the way they plunged? The truth we know now: they leave when food is scarce, when they’ve grown too many; believe the roads they follow lead to new meadows, a place to start over. I think of Karen, feeding and feeding her veins, how it is possible she saw us all suddenly there—miraculous and festive on some bright and other shore, like the life she had been swimming toward all along, trying to get right. Like those sailors long ago, that tropical disease, calenture— when, far from everything they knew, men grew sometimes delirious and mistook the waving sea for green fields. let her Break free
The tractor stands frozen - an agony To think of. All night Snow packed its open entrails. Now a head-pincering gale, A spill of molten ice, smoking snow, Pours into its steel. At white heat of numbness it stands In the aimed hosing of ground-level fieriness. It defied flesh and won't start. Hands are like wounds already Inside armour gloves, and feet are unbelievable As if the toe-nails were all just torn off. I stare at it in hatred. Beyond it The copse hisses - capitulates miserably In the fleeing, failing light. Starlings, A dirtier sleetier snow, blow smokily, unendingly, over Towards plantations Eastward. All the time the tractor is sinking Through the degrees, deepening Into its hell of ice. The starting lever Cracks its action, like a snapping knuckle. The battery is alive - but like a lamb Trying to nudge its solid-frozen mother - While the seat claims my buttock-bones, bites With the space-cold of earth, which it has joined In one solid lump. I squirt commercial sure-fire Down the black throat - it just coughs. It ridicules me - a trap of iron stupidity I've stepped into. I drive the battery As if I were hammering and hammering The frozen arrangement to pieces with a hammer And it jabbers laughing pain-crying mockingly Into happy life. And stands Shuddering itself full of heat, seeming to enlarge slowly Like a demon demonstrating A more-than-usually-complete materialization - Suddenly it jerks from its solidarity With the concrete, and lurches towards a stanchion Bursting with superhuman well-being and abandon Shouting Where Where? Worse iron is waiting. Power-lift kneels Levers awake imprisoned deadweight, Shackle-pins bedded in cast-iron cow-shit. The blind and vibrating condemned obedience Of iron to the cruelty of iron, Wheels screeched out of their night-locks - Fingers Among the tormented Tonnage and burning of iron Eyes Weeping in the wind of chloroform And the tractor, streaming with sweat, Raging and trembling and rejoicing.

Offshore Oil Exploration Months of preparatory work, Permits obtained. Maps explored, sited, Ground and beneath scanned, Each contour drawn, plotted, named. Equipment assemblage. Platform designed and towed, Pre-commencement government inspection Constant. We test. Slowly, the loose, easy dirt, Gives in.  No rejoicing yet, premature. The diverter in place, functions well. The deeper the bit, the harder the resistance. The camera's eyes monitor until We reach depths too deep for their functioning. The derrickhands order about the junior roustabouts, Check the mud pumps, check the pH levels, Do this, do that. The pecking order on board clear. The kings of the rig, the drillers, in charge. Then, disaster. Oil spill. Worse. Not only smiling, She has Opened her eyes and Ceased purring. P.S. I. Offshore Oil Exploration
Dance dance darling dandelion. Dance in the dancing field of the trillion. Dance while dahlia play drum. Dance while daffodil blow trum- like group of heavenly ghost. Dance in the breeze as the host. Dance dance darling dandelion. Dance and make merry as crown with billion. Dance for everlasting enjoyment of it. DANCE DANCE DARLING DANDELION
... "This is a big dream, it may eat you up." I do not flinch in the face of chaos. 〰 (Forecasters) I counted as seven gods ascended the iodine skyline. We all call them "misfortune in the flesh." They waltz in pairs but the very last is a composer; Seven deities promised the sun would catch scarlet fever. We danced to the music to summon fate and disorder, building a coffin in the middle of hungry waters, The sun is our noble sacrifice in ruby robes; So lets just hope the sea was starving for fire. (Brew) Metal ghosts slip among the sky and lock like iron gates to form an army of grey. The weight of sober clouds are intoxicated with turmoil, Unbalanced weight, scales faltering, "no sudden moves please" Obsidian giants collect the welkin until it boils over the edges, the pillars, the cage Why does the dark taste sweeter? (Beautiful downfall) The raindrops are ashamed of the bitter liars we're all becoming; We've succumbed to narcolepsy by the hand of water; within the jaws of hurricanes we were consumed, teeth formed by the angry fingers of the wind thunder rejoicing as the land buckles down, rain feasting on the earth in ecstasy hail and rain are merciless foes lightning still swinging, morbidly screeching chaotic smile, a sword, a single, a cut. Black Umbrella
The swallow of summer, she toils all the summer, A blue-dark knot of glittering voltage, A whiplash swimmer, a fish of the air. But the serpent of cars that crawls through the dust In shimmering exhaust Searching to slake Its fever in ocean Will play and be idle or else it will bust. The swallow of summer, the barbed harpoon, She flings from the furnace, a rainbow of purples, Dips her glow in the pond and is perfect. But the serpent of cars that collapsed on the beach Disgorges its organs A scamper of colours Which roll like tomatoes Nude as tomatoes With sand in their creases To cringe in the sparkle of rollers and screech. The swallow of summer, the seamstress of summer, She scissors the blue into shapes and she sews it, She draws a long thread and she knots it at the corners. But the holiday people Are laid out like wounded Flat as in ovens Roasting and basting With faces of torment as space burns them blue Their heads are transistors Their teeth grit on sand grains Their lost kids are squalling While man-eating flies Jab electric shock needles but what can they do? They can climb in their cars with raw bodies, raw faces And start up the serpent And headache it homeward A car full of squabbles And sobbing and stickiness With sand in their crannies Inhaling petroleum That pours from the foxgloves While the evening swallow The swallow of summer, cartwheeling through crimson, Touches the honey-slow river and turning Returns to the hand stretched from under the eaves - A boomerang of rejoicing shadow.

Integrity
(This verse is painted for my Loving Daughter P Suzanna Christy on her 8th birthday) It was the day she began to move out, She’d been in the cradle of her mother’s womb Some seven years before silently in her dreams, And her dreams! Who knows? But He knows. Her mother, yea, yet to be a mother then! Then in her travail, yet rejoicing in God’s Gift, With her friend and neighbors close by she was wriggling. Her father, yea, yet to be a father then! Then in his journey, anxious, yet praying all the way, None but the Father in Christ is beside him. She reaches the eighth milestone of life, How she hath reached is by His Mercy. I remember the day of entry into the world, She made a cry within and it was not heard unto us, We could not know why she had cried within, But we know for she had prayed within, And now we’ve learnt that her first cry would be to Him. Her mother’s friend took her in his arms, And showered thousand kisses on her tiny forehead, And it is he always the God-sent providence unto them. Her mother rose from her anesthetic sleep, And her every breath, it’s the fact, pronounced THANKS unto HIM. She longed for her God’s Gift and took her in her arms of love. I watched her imprinting kisses on the silky cheeks. Every one wept and there were tears of joy, I collected those tears in the deep of my heart. She hath reached the eighth milestone of life: She flutters as the dancing star in the sky, Like the tiny trout in the running brook she plays, Sweet like the ripe apple ‘midst the orchard, ‘cross the horizons of joy and laughter she traverses, Dressed in the Blessings from Above, She looks purple with floating frilled skirt, She wears the smiles of her mother, Filled with friendly wishes from her school mates, She walks amidst the song of her little blooms. I can’t hold her joy she experiences, And so her mother shares it with her And too with her for she hath carried my prayer in her womb. She grows with the Heavenly Grace, And does proclaim the Glory of Heaven in her life. Now she’s a little plant to grow more flowers,                 And every flower shall be the message of His Mercy

(Solitary Chamber. Heart breaking melodious music is flowing silently. Young Ren is looking pale, soliloquizing.) Young Ren: Sweet Flance! Can you hear me? I do know you can never see me now; But hear me --- my words at least! Feel my heart that hangs on nothing; Yet resting itself on my unrequited love. Hear me! Do hear me! Send thy spirit unto me awhile, And hearken my silent words. Dear Flance! Thou must be now with thy partner Breaking thy footprints with me once; Yet ne'er am I angry with thee. From him I should not take thee away; Yet listen unto me awhile. Dear Flance! I loved thee not at the very first sight Like Orlando and Rosalind --- Orlando was a wrestler, Rosalind was a fair lady. Their love began at an arena in a contest --- Rosalind in the guise of Ganymede, Their love passed thro' rustic lands Symbolizing the art of Nature, Their love stirred the young hearts With wonder and fancy. Sweet Flance! Romeo died of Juliet and Juliet of Romeo --- Breaking endurance to chaos. There was poison in their love. Dear Flance! Jealousy lingered in the fatal love Betwixt Othello and Desdemona, At night their love was born, At night their love was dead When blackened by the candle light. Dear Flance! Lysander loved Hermia And sought fanciful beings For their fanciful union. Dear Flance! Know you, Keats died of consumption? His love for ***** Brown was limitless, And so burst into tears. Oh! No! To love you breathes an art. Your body is the canvas my hands yearn to paint. The sculpted shape of your form is something I’ve only known dreams of. Kissing you is like my lips have met the stars. Hearing you sigh sounds like the sand rejoicing for another wave. Seeing you looks like the first flower bud in spring. Embracing you is like the pleasure a horizon feels in receiving a sunset.
