How many bards gild the lapses of time!
A few of them have ever been the food
Of my delighted fancy,—I could brood
Over their beauties, earthly, or sublime:
And often, when I sit me down to rhyme,
These will in throngs before my mind intrude:
But no confusion, no disturbance rude
Do they occasion; 'tis a pleasing chime.
So the unnumbered sounds that evening store;
The songs of birds—the whispering of the leaves—
The voice of waters—the great bell that heaves
With solemn sound,—and thousand others more,
That distance of recognizance bereaves,
Makes pleasing music, and not wild uproar.

we sit in my car,
at 11:00pm
engine running,
our mobile phones, side by side
charging from the same source,
waiting for his lawyer to call
somewhere in your huge file of poems
entitled but as of yet unwritten is one called,

together***

Please do not convict me,
Of a crime I've not yet done.
Just because I pondered retreat,
Doesn't mean that fear has won.
Every time a war is waged,
Within myself, I try,
To view the battlefield from afar,
With every slant of eye.
And strategically position myself,
To see every point of view.
And then do some recognizance,
Before deciding what to do.
Please do not convict me,
Of a crime I've not yet done.

Cisterns full of brine.
All day long we slave away.
But we have forgotten.
We lost our recognizance.
All we have now is routine.
Routine
will save us all.

I'm running out
Of confidence
Of common sense
My confidants are on the fence
Confederate incompetence
Forgetting what it represents
Refraction second somnolence
Relinquish rests recognizance
Iconic pass Aphrodite
Icon platon-ic and mighty
Contend in gin and tonic
Vigor fighting
compulsion flighty
Rigor biting
revulsionninglory sighting
And the lighting
Lends lonely writing
Recommends a tone reciting
I'm alright
I'm all right
We all write
I'm all right
Racing rounded repression
I have a confession
Profound stead impression
Confounded live session
Astounding is sounding
Like bound bring recession
Inbound will resound
In grins drowned sting depression
Sing out, it's my confession!
My ground is regression!
