For my cousin, Chris Goldrick Lacing my skates after walking two miles in girl-strictured delight Mom's stories of Sonja Henie-- No, not ever Lacing my skates with  snow-ball pompoms felt skirt and nylon tights Cute little hat with matching scarf My thighs and fingers already freezing icy burn from miles on foot to get there the lake where-- I must get out I must get OUT! Knowing what to expect from my body the quick-twitch of muscle Could always sense specific-- gravity of water     at 22 degrees Desiring to feel the motion between ice and steel Read speed's vibrations through my body The brain registers relation to weather's effect Tell of velocity possibility of fall Feel the slash of the blades beneath me Throw my weight sideways, sudden to hear that furious hiss An object in motion tending, dire to stay in motion Threatening to stay there always in its heights-- of speed away-- from the crowds of skaters swirling distant in the lights Seeking instead the farthest reaches of Porter Lake speed and speed and more to overcome inertia of what it is to become undone at the outer edges, of humanity A force centrifugal unto myself Avoiding Pregnant and slow with years and babes.... The best must be broken and tamed of what it takes to stay free catching the edges with every stride catching my toe in the quick 180 spray of frost to the sudden still Listen to the frigid chill and the heave of my breath tumbling into evidence Gliding Once Forever-- on, into darkness of woods on frozen water The wildness of it all So infatuated with flight so full of grace I forgot Sonja The moon rose from her seat in the treetops and applauded

. * Do I have a tongue, Can I speak too? In this strange world, Am I a human too? Do I have a heart, Can I live too? In this strange land, Am I alive too? In the midst of Oblivion, I search my visions, I once used to dream, As a young teenager, In Sea of Paro s I try to remember, The faces of people I had once lived with Father, mother, brother Of all those people I had once called family. I came here as girl, I am shared in the family, I born plenty children, I am sold and re-sold In and around To any men who Can afford to buy, I am kept but Seldom married, Each street have it's own paro, They all have But the same story. After some years I cease to exist, For the people Who bought me I am an old cattle Who no longer give them pleasure, I am now a burden A liability soon To be shedded.. They don't throw me though, They leave me alone In a small room, I have become a mother Of a girl or two I have new family But no identity fits me ever, When I come here I became a Paro, When my times up I die a Paro!! Paro is short for Pardesi, a foreigner, I am the girl Bought for men From another land Into there land, To born son's For there motherland. This is ordeal of A soul that once lived, Now it's just a body With no role, No fiction this It's a real story A reality of some Distant land !! That land for you Is so very strange Where eight young man **** a pregnant goat! And the strangest thing is they go away and Roam scot free..!! Soon the elders in the village Will have a big meet, They will give compensation To the owner of the goat, And free from the sin There precious young boys The martyred goat Will also have new name, And so it will soon Be christened to A new species of "Paro"- a first of it's kind A Welcome from an animal world!! And so I ask again Do I really exist? What form of life Do I have here? In this strange land Are they human too?? Does even a little atleast A thing called Humanity exist??? * Sparkle in Wisdom. 1/8/2018.

“Ask me about my patches” Was written in Sharpie on a piece of cardboard hung by string and Duck tape from his backpack. I didn’t dare ask. I was late. The image of hipster: gauged ears, lip and nose pierced, cut-off jacket vest, tight black jeans, —and patches. I didn’t dare ask him. But I was forced to read the large one sewn across his back. That’s when I realized my first judgment was wrong. Not an image: he was a force, his patches his power. That was all just a glance, just a memory of a patch of the face of a woman with streaked black hair, a tear? its fading... but the words won’t. The words that I won’t tell; the words that carry with them the power of the history of man. Not of humans, of man: man who has ruled this world, man who has buried mother earth (alive) deep inside herself. Who pinned her down and penetrated all orifices— inserting, and removing and inseminating; making her pregnant with ******** Man—men—when did we do this? Who was the first among us to realize his superior strength? I don’t dare ask because I am not ready for the answer. I am not ready to ask myself the questions that I feel but don’t know. I realize when I pass someone on the street, I don’t know anything—every woman I see at night has a past, every man and every child. I don’t know any of it. But, I do know some about the history of man.

Look at all these wannabe gangsters Terrorising our streets That one's wearing camouflage trousers Just wait till you hear him speak 'Dems bear skills mate' 'Can you lend me fifty bar?' He sounds like he's from Los Angeles Doing time in the yard But he's not He still lives at home with his mum And his pregnant girlfriend And he's under the thumb You see them outside Tesco But they're not shopping for pesto Let's go They've seen the old bill He's known around this town For selling dodgy pills Guns, knives and slang That's what you need If you wanna be in their gang No education Just a stolen Playstation And don't forget the **** Even on a school night They're out doing speed You'll see 'em in the park With a bottle of cider Then they'll start On a poor old-timer Tracky bottoms And a Burberry hat Chav fashion Cause they think they're all that But the funny thing is They don't have a clue They don't think like Me or you They think that they're rap stars Dreaming of fast cars But they're just wankers More like 'wannabe gangsters'

Wannabe Gangsters
Kashmir Delirium Oh People Of Earth! Thankful are we, For each act of benevolence shown to us. Your gilded sweet words describing, The beauty of Kasmir, land and people. Mention in books and talks of it's riches, Naming it the Sweet Paradise Of Earth. The Lord has been bountiful to Kashmir, Treasure of resources in every sphere. To elevate each aspect, our wish for life, As every acre of this land is worth millions. Full of treasures and recreational value, Forestry with grandeur and silvery rivers. The outside world's view is so limited, Simple folks living in the lap of rich bounty. Mentioned in world forums and organizations, But what of the goal of giving us freedom? What has The UN established in our name? To measure the pain and anguish we bear, At the hands, of our supposed benefactors. The saviours who has us fractured. But in reality they train their enforcers, In the art of creating oceans of tears. The red blood now hidden in camouflage, The spent shells now gathered and hidden. The leaders we are told to elect in electoral shams, Run publicity kiosks and swell friend lists. Joint conferences to address personal interests Dialogues that never address the root issues. Just the formalities and no sympathy, For the ones burnt in cruel sadistic reprisals. The hypocrisy continues deliriously unabated, More augmentation of the security forces. For a first hand view of deep hypocrisy, Walk this land, you know as beautiful. Religious leaders will teach you political artistry, Sermons full of ambiguity and guile. Waywardness and narrow mindedness on display, Political apologists give great lessons. Religion and religious ethnicity are tools, That keep minds and bodies in total check. Gamesmanship by leaders is the rule of thumb, As promises are forgotten once office is obtained. When writing of this succulent beautiful land, Write of the air, pregnant with sadistic practices. This land is being stripped of worldly treasures, And the greatest treasure is mistreated daily. The best of nation is the inhabitants, Ignored are the real gems of this beautiful paradise.

When clocks strike twelve and trainings end — lurk not, they say, in school at night. Age-old stories tell of how there’re things that throng in fluorescent light. In toilets silence screeches loud, for when school’s empty, they arise: Ghosts of pregnant girls lie wailing, with cleaner-uncle poltergeists. For now I sit on chilling white, resounding prayers in my mind; my heart racing with dire wish a friend of Casper’s I won’t find — Then eeeeeeek! Is that a door creaking? Perhaps it stemmed from my own mind, Hinges sing as they fly open! Thou who entered, oh be my kind! A thud thud thud as shoes traverse across the glinting marble floor; and louder, louder as they get much nearer to my sacred door! THEN SILENCE or so I wish! But a loud knock takes my breath away. The unlatched bolt lies there lazing HOW’D I FORGET TO LOCK TODAY? A hand thrusts in so hard and swift, door’s open ‘fore I can react! I’m facing now a girl my age, She bawls at me with little tact — Eyes bloodshot and tummy bloated, “YOU DISGUSTING PIG! HOW DARE YE?!” I dash out of the girls’ toilet before she tries to castrate me.

COMEDIC TOILET GHOST POEM
My baby moves in jumps and flutters inside me, like the barn swallows that make nests of dirt and twigs outside the restaurant. Yesterday they disappeared and I learned that a maintenance man came and hosed them down.   Tragic, he said. But necessary.   Too much bird ****   When I got pregnant it felt like waking up at the top of a roller coaster. And then an engagement.   Somehow this is how my life is going and somehow it does not feel like cliche. Ask as many what-ifs as you want but there is just a single trajectory. Even though you have to fall asleep one day before waking in the next. Moving through concentric circles and trying to find the center. Biology is happening in a part of me that I am still getting to know.   Kaleidoscoping. She was once the size of a grape but now I read she can blink her eyelids. She is also not like the barn swallows.

so I brought my writer wife (prominently pregnant) to the hospital and on her bed, she screamed: *"weren't" "hasn't" "couldn't" "shan't" "aint" "hadn't" "you're" "isn't" "aren't" "didn't" "wasn't" "who's?" "what's?" "he's" "she's"* The doctors were confounded and they turned to me and they said: "What the hell is she doing?" And I replied with double speed and a violent sense of urgency: *"Don't you know? She's having contractions - she's a writer"*

They call me Ghetto. They call me gunfights and drive-bys, pregnant teens. They call me Poverty, and concrete winter walls splashed with blood-red graffiti. They call me junior-high druggies and gang-banging muchachos. They call me Mexico like it’s a ***** word. They call me Ghetto. But haven’t they seen through the white-washed walls of the “American Dream”? Don’t they know hurt and suffering, imperfections and neglect, as well? So call me Mexico; call me Poverty; call me Ghetto. I am run-down yards filled with laughing brown children, small apartments bursting with the scent of tamales, mingled with joy and the chatter of relatives. I am home-made tortillas at Thanksgiving and wrinkled hands pounding masa at Christmas. I am friendly smiles and shouted jokes followed by roaring laughter. I am the lilting syllables of a beautiful culture. I am comfort. They call me Ghetto and so I am.

Ghetto
I feel jailed in my own body socially forced to conceive emotionally sick hurt within Scared to transmit pain in this age of depression reminding my ancestors' culpability; will I also hurt my descendant? Struggling to finish a phd in this age of precarity thinking it might push me; Or, will I fail it all?

Now, pregnant:
The young maricones and the ***** muchachas, The big fat widows delirious from insomnia, The young wives thirty hours' pregnant, And the hoarse tomcats that cross my garden at night, Like a collar of palpitating ****** oysters Surround my solitary home, Enemies of my soul, Conspirators in pajamas Who exchange deep kisses for passwords. Radiant summer brings out the lovers In melancholy regiments, Fat and thin and happy and sad couples; Under the elegant coconut palms, near the ocean and moon, There is a continual life of pants and ******* A hum from the fondling of silk stockings, And women's ******* that glisten like eyes. The salary man, after a while, After the week's tedium, and the novels read in bed at night, Has decisively ****** his neighbor, And now takes her to the miserable movies, Where the heroes are horses or passionate princes, And he caresses her legs covered with sweet down With his ardent and sweaty palms that smell like cigarettes. The night of the hunter and the night of the husband Come together like bed sheets and bury me, And the hours after lunch, when the students and priests are ************ And the animals mount each other openly, And the bees smell of blood, and the flies buzz cholerically, And cousins play strange games with cousins, And doctors glower at the husband of the young patient, And the early morning in which the professor, without a thought, Pays his conjugal debt and eats breakfast, And to top it all off, the adulterers, who love each other truly On beds big and tall as ships: So, eternally, This twisted and breathing forest crushes me With gigantic flowers like mouth and teeth And black roots like fingernails and shoes.

Remember that guy, Yea the one who I said made me feel all this love inside; Well he ******* lied, He played with my mind, I should of known after seeing several bad signs; Never did I ever think he would or could do that to me, He ******* cheating on me, He thought I wouldn't see; I'm too smart to not have found out, He thought I would believe his words without a doubt? Nah my intuition is far beyond his cognition; So I got up and did better, To not value me is something I won't except, never; So **** his love, **** all those fake hugs; They mean nothing now, What he did to me was ******* foul; I have no losses, because in this situation I was faultless; I just hope I'm not having his baby, Because to have two ******* pregnant now that ***** crazy; It's too bad he lost the best life he could of had; As for me I'm unbreakable, And he's now erasable. -E.G

Good Girl Gone Bad
A ball player and a thief Will likely be pregnant by age 16. Lives in the ghetto and is poor, Often identified as a ***** Runs fast and does drugs, Hangs around with gangsters and thugs. Has a gun or a friend with one. Speaks in slang, must be part of a gang. Mess with her, she'll pull a Sharkeisha on you. If you were to picture a person of any race, That fits the description that just took place. A baller and **** hmm... what race matches that? Yeah you're right, that person is probably black. Is fast, does drugs, and speaks with slang? Lemme guess, is he also in a gang? A young mother who is also poor? Bet she doesn't know who the dad is, what a ***** All these negative stereotypes associated with being black. Its disheartening, sicking and its really sad. And whats sadder is that if you are the opposite of all of that, You are often told that you're not really black. Does your skin colour change for going to Harvard? Will it change for speaking like an English scholar? Because I play hockey and not ball, does that make me white? So what if I'm the type of person to run away from a fight? You don't have to be irresponsible and rude to be considered black. It's your ethnic background that determines that. And to some people, all we are is the complexion of our face. Light, dark, somewhere in the middle, to some, the bad of a few defines our whole race. Does running away from a cop, and being black give someone grounds to shoot? Why is it that my skin color is what is most important to you? Is asking a question when getting arrested for no visible reason really resisting arrest? Does struggling to break free from restraints to catch my breath, give someone a reason to grab on tighter to strangle me to death? The actions of a few don't define the actions of a whole group. And this assumption that all black are thugs, thieves and liars has done clear damage to, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Trayvon Martin and so many more. They didn't know it, but just by being black, they put their lives at risk when they stepped out their door. Don't you think it's gotten too far when we have to prove Black Lives Matter, or when we the saying of a movement is Hands Up, Don't Shoot. Should people have to be reminded that blacks are real people and that our lives matter  too? We are athletes and musicians. Lawyers and physicians. The leader of a nation. An anchorman of a news station. We don't all fit into that mold that is preset for us. You can and should expect great things of us. Because we don't have to be a **** or a baller to be considered black. We define what type of black person we are, we determine that.

Against the lavender of a Capricorn: less chubby at age fourteen than at eighteen, produced at the wrong time. Her stars are their least private in December, moths pick up ovaries and eggs from below her dress left behind from relationship number one. A lesbian curse, no offspring for her girlfriend was a Capricorn spirit too. A nymph who took ten seconds to leave though eight years to disappear: nurses say, “it just hurts for a moment,” but needles ruin your whole ******* week. But out of two Capricorn women, one is sure to get pregnant. The first’s not heard of powdered milk, nor would she have any, calcium-deficient so others break her bones. She has a cabinet of amber orbs held with sickly insects, a million years old and brown hair in like tiny ***** of yarn. Some parts of a person can belong to another. This was not their cornflower-eyes but an ability to bear child from straight *** female parts tangled like herbs and stars.

Did you hear the that goes “Everytime I try to make a **** joke, It just comes out a little too… Forced.” Did you hear the one about The girl who had to pull her Best friend Drunk, crying, and vomiting, From her best friend’s car? They’re both pretty funny, Aren’t they? It’s hilarious that A 15 year old girl Sits in a clinic, Waiting to see If she is pregnant Or if maybe she has An STD. She feels ***** and Ashamed, Feeling like it’s her fault Because that’s what Society tells her- It’s her fault because Of what she was wearing. It’s even more funny that She sits there alone, Because she’s too Ashamed to ask for help. It’s hilarious that a Little boy, With tears streaming down his face, Thinks that what she did to him Wasn’t **** Because society tells him That real men can’t be ***** He should’ve liked it, That he’s lucky because She was good looking. It’s hilarious that when you make **** jokes, You’re almost as bad as the ****** You’re normalizing his actions, Making him feel proud, And that what he did Is just a process of life, That what he did is normal. So instead of asking me why I don’t find **** jokes funny, Let me ask you Why you do.

**** Joke (Trigger Warning)
Depression, is a concession of unstable chemicals made from the memories of cruel intentions, My life is still here plodding along.. But only I hear the sound of my own thoughts like an annoying repetitive song. I hear that little voice, calm down it says! stop filling your stupid head, with anxiety a lack of self motivation and such a thing as recreation, only self interrogation and constant ************ I think of ways of ending it.. A rope around my neck?... or a cocktail of prescribed drugs? I try to find help but no one is willing or the nhs has started billing, I blame society and the burning of the bras, things were simpler with our evolutionary past. Nothing is moving I am stuck, I feel useless and out of so called ambitious luck. My patience is wearing and poignant preparations, is it really that necessary? I just can't be fckd! Move on, try again and again. Run away!... But financially there is no escape! The cruel beatings, the childhood ruined by my selfish relatives and a man I fell pregnant with. Take away the memories.. please take them away before I cry the tears from the river of blood and pain.
