You are the city I am trying to get back into nature. Your bright lights beckon me back- But your pollution is killing me City officials refuse to address the problem Even when I write up a petition and policy to highlight the issues- I am ignored. There are natural bright lights in nature - the ones I miss- life with fresh air is positivity. It's my fault I allowed the city to become polluted.

In a broken down hut In the middle of the wood Nor pizza hut nor Squirrel's nut Can calmly describe that, that could And somewhere within thy Lies a seemingly twisted fate Where two old hags bye and bye Will simultaneously copulate It would arise my suspicion Should there be a banana and henceforth there be a petition To Outlaw that Repulsive banana For one to see into the future Monkeys would be granted intelligence Causing bananas to nurture and my brain to be punctured by a fence If you still can't see That bananas are a fruit Then I guess you will have to *** While gassing toot toot

Netted on the outside Dreams pass through the inside. The good dreams seep the center, The bad dreams are caught: DO NOT ENTER! The sleeper with eyes shut, Protected by the dreamcatcher And selected by the buy-snatcher, Slumbers in peace When all is at ease Around the dreamcatcher police. Reality is still But the mind is awake And sleep is at stake. Eyes cannot detect What the dreamcatcher does, It only sways in the midst of a glance. But the dreams that pass the glass dividing atmospheric gas Cannot be seen, touched, heard. Dreamcatchers have a radar That no being does. The dreams charge at once! WOOOOSH. Not a dream is heard Caught in the dreamcatcher grid, But the good ones Keep clean the REM zones. Native-American tradition I will surely petition.

Dreamcatcher Rap
Oh Venerable Zeus, grant Persephone’s petition to retain Adonis! I, as Queen of the Underworld, can Protect his charming body from vicious men It is here where he found his safest den Here I’ll protect his flesh from being stricken Oh Venerable Zeus, grant Persephone’s petition to retain Adonis! I, as keeper of this handsome lad since his childhood Seeks for him nothing, but everything that’s good It is his well-being that lights up my mood I’ll badly be hurt when he’s hurt by someone shrewd Oh Venerable Zeus, grant Persephone’s petition to retain Adonis! Shrewd is his rival for the love of Aphrodite He will be in great danger with her, can’t see? Surely from Ares wrath, he’ll experience something nasty And also with the god of fire, he’ll surely die violently! Oh Venerable Zeus, grant Persephone’s petition to retain Adonis! Have mercy! Have mercy! To this youth so fine! Have mercy! Have mercy! To this youth of mine! To deadly earth above, don’t allow him to incline If this bad fate happens, my eyes will emit brine Oh Venerable Zeus, grant Persephone’s petition to retain Adonis! Witness me mourn for the loss of this lad! Do you want the Queen of the Dead to feel bad? If Adonis is gone, my brain will also be mad! Oh Venerable Zeus, grant Persephone’s petition to retain Adonis! From this sanctuary, do not take him away Do not let my life be in disarray To make him remain here, tell me the way I bow, I kneel, I prostrate, I pray! -02/09/2015 *Hopelessly Immortal Collection (Dumarao)

I don't know what you could call this exactly, I was at a musical concert in one of the states And a school filled with children of less than 13 years of age Presented a song which I could call a petition. They were praying earnestly for God to save Nigeria From lawless people, bloodshed, assassination and a list of other wreckless things It touched me that finally, it has gotten to this! When children start to file a petition to God against our leaders saying for their sake God should save the nation It's a bit disturbing that even the kids know that there is a problem with this nation. Do we have to ridicule ourselves forever? The children who were in the ***** and groins some years back have come to understand the situation and are crying out. The educational standard is falling to pieces and the threads would have to be carefully woven together if we wanna make something out of it again. It's embarrassing to know that there are so many sectors that has failed, absolutely nothing is working. Our leaders still apportion blame. Roads are not good and then you get to hear one is a federal road one is state owned. Does it matter who owns the road if it is in their country? Why aren't everyone looking beyond their noses and see what's wrong. Our youths have resolved to fraud when hard work and talents aren't appreciated. Universities have been shut down for months now in the name of strike and the government officials could afford to eat and carry on their daily activities! Aren't they meant to be in the hospital, complaining of one illness or the other as a result of the unrest the matter has caused? Disheartening! Even the hospitals go on strike and innocent people are left to die as a result of no medical attention. I was moved to tears when these children sang. The nation's unrest and matters have become prayer points in all places of worship. God should indeed look down from His throne, have mercy on us and save Nigeria!

Forgiveness, to forgive                    (for me) Is essentially subtle- to a fault, Beautifully it's practiced, Yet inherently mistaught: To ask of anything more From the person you've done wrong Is blatantly selfish, at its core Pressuring them along. Unless exactly, specific and honestly, you reiterate once more. All the reasons which you petition forgiveness And what you're sorry for: To draw conclusions, assumptions and things, without the facts in place- Was to right out start off in an Unreasonable head space. Furthermore, my tone of voice And the disrespect it achieved Is not what you- Alena, not at all From me; should've ever recieved. Lastly, explicitly I have to say; I'm sorry for my aggressive words. And the fact I reacted that way is absurd A retort- as a minuet or two, voice note Deserved the block- and what you wrote. *I'm sorry about this- discrepancy I actually enjoyed you working with me. I'll leave this here for you to find, & Hope these words were worth your time. When you read, know these are sincere; my apologies- true. Not just mere pretty, fluffy words for you.* Poetry's something I, almost know, you appreciate~ so heres an apologistic-free vers hyphenate.

In a world where salvation and restoration swaps my darkness to light, there the grace to glory in praise and grace l will embrace. In a time where invitation and visitation from above sweeps my groan(bondage) to grace to glory(freedom), there the grace to glory in salvation and restoration from sin l will embrace. In a season where manifestation and expectation becomes my hunger and thirst, there the grace to glory in meditation and supplication l will embrace. In a period where the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit becomes my meal and meat, there the grace to glory in repentance and independence from sin l will embrace. In a moment where revelation becomes my feast and vision of heaven my yeast, there the grace to glory in salvation and ressurection from death l will embrace. At the throne of grace, there the grace to glory in my salvation and restoration from ******* l will embrace. At the shone of salvation, there the grace to glory in my happiness and forgiveness from sin l will embrace. At the stem of restoration, there the grace to glory in my freedom and depletion from sorrow l will embrace. At the realm of freedom, there the grace to glory in my redemption and petition from shame l will embrace. In the day when my feet is lifted up above the sky and my eyes groomed in white robes, there the grace to glory in salvation and restoration l will embrace. Twitter: @ValentineMbagu

Grace To Glory
It is like some steampunk nightmare Where working overtime is a racket When what was time and a half pay On the day I get my check, I make less; Some kind of tax bracket scam thing Where working extra hours put me Into another category and increased The tax they use to grease the wheels Of a bloated government that hates me. Maybe that dates me and it isn’t true; That things have changed and it is No longer arranged that way. And maybe The way things became done was that I got it all back as a refund. But isn’t that Redundant, that I had to pay it to them To use it like per diem for their games? The shame is that I chafed and did nothing Besides ******** and frothing at the mouth. It’s not like I could go south to Ensenada, Buy a piñata that looked like Mickey Mouse, It was just that the house always wins. But I have to pay for my tiny, mundane sins. Why don’t they? Why does it go on and on And then the money’s gone and I pay more The next time some fat ***** of a politician Begins a petition to increase their slice And nicely reduce ours to a pittance So low there is no admittance to a show Or enough to replace a car that is a wreck? The albatross around my neck gets larger As it I move farther from the day it died Even though I have tried standing up straighter. It’s The Grand Guignol Theatre that life is And the strife is to not let it get me down; To be the happy clown and not the sad one In a game that was begun to make me lose. I am not confused. I see it, but it seems Even in dreams I get no kind of relief From a governmental thief with immunity; The pillages with impunity and teases That he does what he pleases. Neener, neener What in hell could possibly be meaner?

The Cause of Friction
A day will certainly come As sure as we breathe When our creator will ask of us What we did to aid the oppressed On that day As surely as who created you Created me too It will not be about religion but humanity When carefully planned and organised jets Launched rockets To bomb populated refugee camps Schools and apartment blocks At a defenceless opposition Without an air force or navy Heavy weapons or artillery Command or armour **That's not war It's ****** It's cold blooded massacre** As a woman shot in the stomach Gives birth to a cold blue baby And a world across oceans changes channels tuning in to the next world cup champion It was never about taking sides Israel vs Palestine There is a truth To which we must remove the blindfold of ignorance Searching for a voice of right Amongst the cries of pain hatred and anger The sign in a city Where there is too much to see Finding peace amongst people who are not ours Because I see hypocrisy of nations Who stand for human rights But only when the human shares a matching ideology I see hypocrisy amongst media Where a million wounds and shades of blood Are inked into black and white letters Today I read 'An Israelian was killed whilst a dozen Palestinians died' They turned humans into numbers Quantitative data They couldn't possibly de-sensitize it any further I mean look at the verbs in which they phrased that   I see hypocrisy amongst Muslims Who stand equal and united Yet they too turn backs when the interest is not beneficial And the pitiful nation falls divided Whether it is a prayer A strike, a boycott or vigil A protest or petition Maybe even a donation There's a thousand ways to help But very few who do So what did you do? Was it out of sight out of mind for you?

He got expelled this time. He wasn't sent to In-school suspension Or lunch detention Or the counselor's office. He was expelled from Fairfax County Public Schools. And his friends all freaked. They sat outside the school Every morning And wouldn't go in To protest. They signed a petition That called him a "Well rounded student" And "Well loved by the student body." I didn't love Brian. I hated Brian. Brian was the kid Who always Made the class Stay late. He was the kid who Went through the halls Grabbing peoples butts. He was the kid that All the guys wanted to be And all the girls wanted to have. And instead of sending him off To West Point Where he would have to Shave his Bieber hair and Follow the rules for once, The county revoked the expulsion. And to me It seems like A celebrity murdered someone And because a thousand fan letters were sent in They got to go free.

They will not take my gun. Get me their guns. I have a right to my property. They have a duty to obey us. It is my responsibility to stand for what I believe in. It is our responsibility to make them submit. I hate them. They will love us. I say, break the law! Do they dare go against us? I petition; I riot; I will not go down without a fight! We beat; We arrest; We will not lose this fight! Alas, I am the only one left. One insubordinate citizen remains. I fire my gun for my freedom. I fire my gun for our respect. My only defense clatters to the ground. I knock the gun out of his traitorous grip. I fear what they will do to my family and me. It is much safer to be feared than loved. I take one last act to retrieve what is rightfully mine. I take one last act to retrieve what is lawfully ours. Then we both reach for the gun. Then we both reach for the gun.

Lo, I have loved thee long, long have I yearned and entreated! Tell me how I may win thee, tell me how I must woo. Shall I creep to thy white feet, in guise of a humble lover ? Shall I croon in mild petition, murmuring vows anew ? Shall I stretch my arms unto thee, biding thy maiden coyness, Under the silver of morning, under the purple of night ? Taming my ancient rudeness, checking my heady clamor Thus, is it thus I must woo thee, oh, my delight? Nay, 'tis no way of the sea thus to be meekly suitor I shall storm thee away with laughter wrapped in my beard of snow, With the wildest of billows for chords I shall harp thee a song for thy bridal, A mighty lyric of love that feared not nor would forego! With a red-gold wedding ring, mined from the caves of sunset, Fast shall I bind thy faith to my faith evermore, And the stars will wait on our pleasure, the great north wind will trumpet A thunderous marriage march for the nuptials of sea and shore.

I seek in Prayer that you would Forgive This Uttering Whisper cense your Penance By the Cross and Wheel for this Dharma, live My own Locked Fortress that Demon's Seance Mindful do the Scriptures from Heaven remind That once a Duty to my Sister's Lord Invoke this Baptist; To Salvation find The Enfavoured Trust to your Bandaged Word Then by your God's Hopeful Mercy relay My added Petition you both be well Across the White March Doves mirror that Day You and his hand - Magnificent we tell. Such was his Title. And Excelled at that Knowing your Wound heals, I tip-off my Hat.

every poem is a test of character, *holy/profane all the same, algorithm entirely humanized-you, the elected words cannot be voted out of office, by a recall petition, regardless of constant corrected incorrectness. sorted by size, nocturnal alliteration, do they sound in the dark like your bleeding or you’re breathing? holy/profane all the same, Gertrude truth is a truth is truths, you think my name matters? Artificial Idiocy. Everyone poem faceted, a chip off the the naming blockchain idiot. when I imagine-lie, it is a truth in and of its own holy/profane. call me baffled. that is a god enough one word summary. and so true. baffling perplexing cryptic and opaque. in all honesty. if you’re reading this, you are testing my character. what have you found, or even, lost?* in the midst of the characters is character

every poem is a test of character
Thou tangle the mortality And seek the mourning of its course, With an outrageous cloak  that falls adrift To have its custom afloat. The decorations,  thereof flatters this turmoil That has its doubts and moments, A longevity beheld upon the chores of the subject, Never cognizes its everlasting trials, For those of which handles the elation Of successive falsification. I know not of the clumsiness of hymns, That sighs the mourning of a course, The chaotic iteration of single pauses And the faltering of a mere slope. I know not of the turmoil That bedecks the frostbitten clavicles, Onto which no sigh wavers A petition of no faze and any dome. I know not of the cloak That nestles around a haze; Bringing confusion that betrays every vivid sense. Let it be the matter, ‘tis a matter of time(!) Would it morph itself around the mourning mould, When it dries away with the mud?

How many names
I speak the name of My god over you inspite of sorrow, doubted belief... I'll nurture your virtue. I speak these words of power- to renue; In desperation, I may plead The divine to restore you. I speak these words, to petition the unknown; omniscient or indifferent I plead they lead you home. I speak a poem that doesn't rhyme aloud Reciting prayers, still holding on and on and on.
