Saved by the Sunflower

A very strong storm was arriving,
there were large black clouds coming from the east,
strong gusting turbulent winds threatening to snap everything,
severe down pouring of flooding rain,
as if the clouds were crying out in pain,

it did not seem there would be anyway to save the flower garden,
nothing could survive this unannounced exploding of nature,
this seemingly uncontrollable outburst,
something, maybe everything was going to be destroyed,
this day turned in to this night of hell,
the rain, the wind, the flashes of lightning,
this violent death would not be stopped this time,

then a small voice could barely be heard,
at first it was ignored, flicked away like a mosquito,
the voice did not give up though, once again it cried out,
once again it was ignored, brushed aside,
the voice continued gaining strength, it refused to be shut down,

the creator of the storm suddenly took a step back,
looking down to see where this voice was coming from,
it was emanating from this one lone sunflower,
it was the sunflower that had been given the name Perly,

Perly would not, could not be denied as she screamed out,
leave this garden oh evil storm, I will not except the outcome,
the outcome that you predict will never occur, we are fighters,
we will never give in to your senseless urges,
please wake up and hear my plea for sanity,

the storm started to weaken, slowly at first, but continued
gaining momentum loosing it's grip on this act of violence
until finally succumbing to this cry of desperation from
the little sunflower.

Gradually, the wind stopped blowing,
the rain stopped falling,
the sun began peaking thru the clouds.
Perly Sunflower had saved the lives of all the other flowers
in the garden, and the life of gardens caretaker.

A plaque is now erected on this spot proclaiming the
bravery of this little sunflower that would not give in,
would not accept, would not cower away.
The caretaker of the garden professes eternal gratitude
and love for this brave creature of Gods doing.

Thank you Perly sunflower

Perly Sunflower

Everyone likes flowers, I mean why not?,
they're pretty to look at, and smell really good,
they come in all different colors, sizes, and shapes,
I may be wrong, but I think they're even on grapes

Red, White, Blue, Yellow and Pink,
big leaves, small leaves, thorns, pistils and stamens,
bees really love them, Bumble's, sweats and honey,
the magnificent butterfly, and sometimes a bunny

they're good to chew on and they smell fantastic,
at least the bunnies and beetles think so,
It's really hard to pick out a really special flower,
you can run it through your mind for over an hour

but there is one special one, that I've become quite fond of,
It's yellow and brown and reaches out to the sun,
basking in the brilliance of the morning sunlight,
she really stands out, she's such a beautiful sight

I had not paid very much attention to her previously,
It took me a while to really notice, mixed in like that,
then she grabbed my leg one day as I walked by,
I looked at her more closely, she caught my eye

we had a longer conversation that particular day,
we chatted about this and that and everything in between,
there was something special about this one with leaves so curly,
and I decided to name her my Sunflower Perly

we've become much closer over the last few days,
not sure why exactly, just seems to be a connection,
I make sure I stop by everyday to see how she feels,
and she smiles up at me my Perly so real

I'll Take Belize Please

the water so blue in the caribbean sea
I could almost see the reflection of me
the palm trees with banana and coconut
the man on the corner chewing a cigar ****

the gentle breeze and sun so bright
the only thing better than the cool soft night
me friend Gomer he say to me
I'd like to dive to find the perly

I knew what he meant it must be so
he thinks of the perl wherever he go
in his straw brimmed hat drinking the ***
he pick up his guitar and he begin to strum

it was a song of cheer and a song of sad
so glad he be here but still feeling bad
he try to shake off saying oh what the hell
swirling the *** in his coconut shell

he still wanted to share this beautiful place
he wished to see the smile on her face
her long golden hair blowing in the wind
the sand on her feet and then he grinned

it was a thought that only he knew
and maybe one other member of the crew
an imaginary hug a gentle kiss fall to his knees
if you don't mind he'll take Balize please

The Princess and the frog

time and distance had taken its toll
old and weathered and somewhat forgotten
he hopped on tired legs
all too often shunted by his former mate
he wondered if there was more
he wondered if there was a reason
he was no longer driven
he no longer hoped
he no longer dreamed
he missed the passion
but knew not how to recover
his dreams
his desires
then he stumbled into a garden
it was a new garden
one he had never before seen
he wondered why he was here
he wondered if he was just lost
then hello was whispered
he looked around seeing no one
then another hello a bit louder
he looked up and staring down
staring down at him
was a beautiful flower
a sunflower
a sunflower with big beautiful eyes
she batted her eyes and smiled
he was amazed she had noticed
none noticed him these days
are you lost the sunflower asked
I think I may be he answered
well welcome to my garden
my name is the Princess Perly
what is your name
I am just an old frog was his reply
and it matters not my name
but I am glad to meet you Princess Perly
they talked for a long time
she finally had to leave
and he was sorry she had to go
but he returned to the garden the next day
and they met again and shared
shared thoughts and feelings
she was so kind and sweet
and beautiful beyond his dreams
slowly he fell in love with the princess
well he kind of suspected it was rather quicker
day after day
they would meet in the garden
he finally told her
that he was in love with her
she blushed but did not answer
time moved on
his desires returned
his dreams returned
the princess finally gave in to his heart
she told him she also loved him
his world would never be the same
she kissed him gently
and his life would never be the same
though time would change things
they stayed deeply in love
they stayed the best of friends
though he was still a frog
he knew he was someone again
he was loved by a Princess
and that made him smile...

Often I Have Wondered

If I heard a knock at my door
Would you be the one standing there waiting nervously
Would you smile real big as you handed me a bouquet of Sunflowers And would you say, I picked these fresh from your garden
Or would you say Hello Babydoll, It's just me

Often I Have Wondered

Would you take me to a really nice restaurant?
Or would it be McDonalds for me
Would you wine and dine me
And would you walk real proud with me by your side
Would you fix me a home cooked meal with candle light?
Or would you say Hey good lookin, whatcha got cookin

Often I Have Wondered

If we were dancing, would you step on my toes?
Would you do the funky chicken?
Or would you take me around the floor with a little two steppin
Would you pull me close, hold me tight and no matter the pace of the song
Would you stare into my heart & slow dance all night long?

Often I Have Wondered

If I closed my eyes to sleep
Would I awake to a kiss from your lips, a warm touch from your hand?
Would I open my eyes and smile & see you smiling back at me
Would I drift off to sleep alone or in your arms?
And when I awake would you be there
Or would it have all been a dream

I Pledge My Love

everyday my heart looks in the mirror
it pleads with me to please let it be free
let it run to be with the one it loves so deeply
because each day it dies a little longing can't you see

I struggle trying to get thru each day
it becomes harder and I'm certain that it shows
frustration makes the mind play stupid tricks
saying selfish words and you're the one who knows

my life feels so empty wanting you
and as I watch yet another friend pass away
my heart cries knowing it can't be where it wants
and leaves me wondering if it can take another day

I pledge my love forever to you my friend
maybe I will meet the Perly one at Heaven's gate
if that will be my final reward my destiny
I swear to you my love will forever wait

Goodbye Mr LePoet

I remember the days, when I made people happy,
coming up with lines, lines sometimes snappy

I remember the days, when I made people laugh,
hurting my back, trying to do a two-and-a-half

words were my friend, they talked to me,
I just wrote them down, so that everyone could see

sometimes funny, sometimes deep in thought,
making people dream, is what I always sought

somehow the words, have deserted my mind,
somewhere my heart, lost its way and cannot find

the will to carry on, when I know I'm causing pain,
these tears falling now, like a hard summer rain

My special Perly friend, who I made feel so so sad,
I broke the heart of the one I loved, the one I loved so bad

the garden will never ever be the same again,
and neither will Mr. LePoet

Remember When

I remember when our friendship began
We felt free, like Jane and Tarzan

So many smiles, so much laughter
Our friendship grew even closer

We chatted and talked for hours
Never before experienced a friendship like ours

Remember when the friendship turned to love?
Was this from above?

We laughed, cried, & loved together
We questioned and sometimes no answer

Days, months, & now even almost a year has gone by
Sometimes we ask ourselves why

We have shared so much & grown so close
Will we ever be together, no one knows

We hang on to hope & the memory
For the future no one can foresee

Friends can make awesome lovers
Deep under the covers

But lovers can never be just a friends
It is much too hard even to pretend

Memories last a life time
I remember when, do you?

Her Words

her words still echo in my mind
I try to push them away
but they return to me every single day

her eyes still sparkle in my dreams
I try to brush them away
but they return to me every single night

her love still has a grip on my heart
I try to set it aside
but it is with me every single moment

her name still rolls off my lips
Perly Sunflower, I try to pretend she doesn't exist
but she is with me in everything I do

her memory still is in my mind
I try to forget
but a tear falls for her every time

Feel Me

Feel my hand on your cheek
as our lips touch

Feel my warm body
lying next to yours

Feel me when Im near
then no longer there

Feel me as I look deep into your eyes
as our bodies intertwine

Feel me as you gaze into my eyes
as our love lingers within

Feel the love
as our hearts beat as one

Just close your eyes
and
Feel me, feel you.

Words

sometimes words that are not spoken
does not mean they are not felt
we all prefer those special words
that make our heart just melt

sometimes words said out of place
that can be taken wrong
because they are not the words
for which are hearts so long

sometimes words need to be spoken
they open up the door
yet other times be kept silent
sometimes less is more

sometimes we need to think
be strong before we render
words that can cut too deep
and wound a heart so tender
