"pekoe" poems
You've left me here
In pools of honey and vanilla
Dreaming of London fog
Holding onto chamomile evenings
With every last breath
Orange pekoe on my tongue
Thoughts of you like jasmine flowers
Warm water and green tea
Something hibiscus and peach
Floating like little worlds
Surrounding me as I drown
In this romanticized life
Watching you swirl your spoon
In everything
We said
Was not our cup of tea

Her steaming kettle
window into wetness of what was
whistling jets conjuring self-precipitation
There, go memories
dewy laden long gone
Vexing saturation making tea time’s solitude
weep childhood, weep marriage, weep motherhood
ululating swirls in her cup
No amount of saccharin can sweeten
sipping whimper’s brew
Her hour of orange pekoe empties

It was a beautiful day
Warmer than the usual
I woke up with thoughts of you
And a cup of black tea
With no sugar, or milk
one single cream
And I watched it explode
Into a white cloud
Of luscious smoke
I watched it spin
I watched it implode
..Dancing alone
Then I dipped my spoon
Tore it away
So I could take a sip
Of this beautiful day..
and I never realized how easy
It was to completely
destroy
Life’s subtle beauty

Of all that warms my heart
in the days of my childhood
you were there to nourish me
On those brisk winter mornings
when the cupboards where nearly bare
you fulfilled my needs
My old friends Earl Grey
and Orange Pekoe
never disappointed
Never to take a back seat
white Towntalk bread
lightly toasted with butter
TOAST & TEA
virtually inseparable...
my comfort food.

Would it seem presumptuous, perhaps impertinent,
of me to invite you for a cup of tea on a sunny Sunday
morning at a small shop on a well- trafficked street?
And, it you were to agree would you question me,
over that cup of tea, or before, as to why I wish
your company on a sunny Sunday morning?
I might answer, before that cup of tea, that your interests
interest me, and given what I see, you seem quite shy (and
I have heard this is true) and I think you might be more
inclined to reply over a cup of pekoe brew on a safe and
sunny well-trafficked street on a Sunday morning.
And, what would the object be, you might ask, of meeting
over a cup of tea and what would a pertinent question be?
The why and why not of what you know and what you do,
the who and why and what of you cannot all be explained
over a cup of tea on a sunny Sunday morning, but a small
answer, say a cupful, with one who takes pleasure in
interesting conversation with one who seems interesting
is all the question and answer needed on a sunny Sunday
morning and a cup of tea.

*Let's thrive on hot pekoe tea tonight , on
a good high with an acoustic guitar
Let's find a bright star , finish the dishes , lets open a jar of wishes and be thankful for where we are
Two porch lovers that discovered one another
in our fifties , the gift of true love thats never ending
Treasuring the start of each day , to find your pretty face
in our quiet , perfect country place
Forevermore* ...

Frosted ivory undivided wings
Bambino of new beginnings
Hummingbird Ching's,
Ornamentations to be as sidewalks
Brisk in mountain image
A dask
A dusk
A pull
A scrimmage.
Frilly tress amenity
Angels do come
Devils leave,
As Flambeau's do garnish so lively!!!
Pekoe from ourn bouquet redolence
Wild sinner's and innocent
Sparked by fuse of Muse's poet...
Ride it
Moan it
A perfume of new days Macy's!!!
Parched
Hazy
Yet sun blasts in with all perfection
For thy queen of ressurection hast risen me
As Christ was the third day!!!

*A splash of green clover beneath bare feet
A hot Pekoe tea with a smidgen of honey
A hardwood canopy with a Mossy Oak
to rest upon
The first cool day of Fall to turn you on* ...
