"odor" poems
wants to be my friend, for I am poet-woman nineteen. she is sweet but sad. super sad. a good poet who wants to guide me. but there/theirs is the odor, not faint, of wants wanting, the pus of corruption behind the curtains, the Wizard-ess of Oz's special blackout curtains. seen how easy, how her illusions, my medium rare rejections, morph into her delusions, and her delusions devolve into her conspiracy theories. "SHE will be my mentor, poetess lover, teacher for no charge!" my parents thinks it's great, she wants (to be) skin in my game. my parents will find this poem accidentally, exactly, how I do not want to be skinned alive. for I am poet-woman nineteen and still! now, long past the point of being fooled, the point of no return. and see no point, have no intention, of returning to either valley ***no more con the my mind into letting my body be-fused.^***   that ain't me babe.

an older woman wants to be my friend
"I can see my door, my bed, my window, my chair, and my table. "I can feel my spine against the wall, my feet against the floor, my jaw tightly shut, and my fingernails buried in my arms. "I can hear the wind coming in from the open window, my heartbeat rapidly thumping, and that familiar voice in my head, shouting once again. "I can smell the dampness of the ground outside as the breeze carries it to my room, and the sickly sweet odor from the soap used on my hands. "I can taste my blood spilling from the bite in my lip; my last harsh reminder that         I         am               still         alive.

Snow Mountain I walk alone these darkened hills, can see my breath and getting chills. My party left me long ago, they didn't like my altered ego. Snow blowing in my face, they said they needed space. Feet and hands becoming numb, never have I felt so **** dumb. Found a cave and there they were, me freezing, them wearing fur. Never has a fire felt so good, not sure where they got the wood. Then I noticed a very distinct odor, they were burning our guide, Schroeder. On the cave wall, I see four more dead, eating the brains from their very head. I yelled, What the **** are you doing, couldn't believe what I was viewing. They said, Shut up or you're next, I got on my knees and paid my last respects. Spinning the body just like a pig roast, I'd be happy with just a bite of toast. As I watched them eat the bodies, if I had a camera, I'd make copies. Days went by and I got hungry, the human body tastes so chunky. Finally something that didn't taste like chicken, my body was getting stronger and beginning to thicken. We never did get discovered, ended up in hell, getting eaten by an evil buzzard.

Snow Mountain
Death is a perfume That can be smelt Any time in life. For the odor is Death telling us That the string is Now cut on this life. The perfume of Death invites many To stay, to dispose Of this shell, To let the nature Take it away. The perfume of Death is always Around, as long As those living Pass and the Shell does decay.

Perfume Of Death
An odor has remained among the sugarcane: a mixture of blood and body, a penetrating petal that brings nausea. Between the coconut palms the graves are full of ruined bones, of speechless death-rattles. The delicate dictator is talking with top hats, gold braid, and collars. The tiny palace gleams like a watch and the rapid laughs with gloves on cross the corridors at times and join the dead voices and the blue mouths freshly buried. The weeping cannot be seen, like a plant whose seeds fall endlessly on the earth, whose large blind leaves grow even without light. Hatred has grown scale on scale, blow on blow, in the ghastly water of the swamp, with a snout full of ooze and silence

The Dictators
Mirror by Kajal Ahmad, a Kurdish poet loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch My era’s obscuring mirror           shattered because it magnified the small and made the great seem insignificant. Dictators and monsters filled its contours.             Now when I breathe its jagged shards pierce my heart and instead of sweat I exude glass. Keywords/Tags: Kajal Ahmad, Kurd, Kurdish, translation, mirror, shattered, magnified, dictators, monsters, jagged, shards, sweat, perspire, leak, bleed, extrude, protrude, glass The Lonely Earth by Kajal Ahmad loose translation by Michael R. Burch The pale celestial bodies never bid her "Good morning! " nor do the creative stars kiss her. Earth, where so many tender persuasions and roses lie interred, might expire for the lack of a glance, or an odor. She's a lonely dusty orb, so very lonely! , as she observes the moon's patchwork attire knowing the sun's an imposter who sears with rays he has stolen for himself and who looks down on the moon and earth like lodgers. Kurds are Birds by Kajal Ahmad loose translation by Michael R. Burch Per the latest scientific classification, Kurds now belong to a species of bird! This is why, traveling across the torn, fraying pages of history, they are nomads recognized by their caravans. Yes, Kurds are birds! And, even worse, when there's nowhere left to nest, no refuge from their pain, they turn to the illusion of traveling again between the warm and arctic sectors of their homeland. So I don't think it strange Kurds can fly but not land. They wander from region to region never realizing their dreams of settling, of forming a colony, of nesting. No, they never settle down long enough to visit Rumi and inquire about his health, or to bow down deeply in the gust- stirred dust, like Nali. Bi Havre (“Together”) possibly the oldest Kurdish poem loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch I want us to be together: we would eat together, climb the mountain together, sing songs together, songs of love, songs from the heart, sung from above. I want us to have one heart, together. Many words in this ancient poem are in doubt, so I have excerpted what I grok to be the central meaning. And because Kajal mentioned Rumi, here are my translations of Rumi: Raise your words, not their volume. Rain grows flowers, not thunder. —Rumi, loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch Birdsong by Rumi loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch Birdsong relieves my deepest griefs: now I'm just as ecstatic as they, but with nothing to say! Please universe, rehearse your poetry through me!

the rotten bananas remain on the hook, browning and sagging, dispensing a putrid odor into the room of spoiled sweetness. the small patches of burnt yellow become overtaken with dark brown, like a disease, spreading faster and faster the tough, impenatrable skin slowly decays into a soft, mushy clump that although, is penetrable, is undesirable.

Had I the choice to tally greatest bards, To limn their portraits, stately, beautiful, and emulate at will, Homer with all his wars and warriors—Hector, Achilles, Ajax, Or Shakespeare’s woe-entangled Hamlet, Lear, Othello—Tennyson’s fair ladies, Meter or wit the best, or choice conceit to wield in perfect rhyme, delight of singers; These, these, O sea, all these I’d gladly barter, Would you the undulation of one wave, its trick to me transfer, Or breathe one breath of yours upon my verse, And leave its odor there.

Every morning I would hear the metal wheels grind against the rails as the garage door opened Leave for school as you were under the hood staring at horse power repairing every engine that was broken Returned home and now you’re underneath a different car, your face blackened from the dirt, oil and debris And at night sometimes I’d hold the flashlight for you, pointing the light at the wrong spots of the engine, I’d help to some degree Rarely spoke but wrenches clanked, ratchets ticked, screws and bolts rattled and power tools revved It’s the language that I never understood but it’s the language I know you’ve said The garage doors would close, I’d smell the scent of Mary Jane coming from your room, swear the odor was limitless Then I would hear the rifts and solos from the guitar strings that were plucked by your fingertips Life as a grease monkey and a rockstar but you loved every second of it, you love everything you do I wish one day I could find my own love and become something just like you I see why my mother loves you You called me your son though we’re not blood I swear I miss you in every way You’ve alwayz told me to look out for my sister and to protect her everyday Happy birthday

Smelly Feet In the sun, feel the heat, and the odor of my smelly feet. All people squeezing their nose, from the cheese between my toes. Shoes melted on the road, smell spreading to the next zip code. Even I'm wearing a gas mask, sipping whiskey from my flask. Feet burning as I start to run, stick a fork in them, they're done. Still a mile left to go, I can see my feet as they glow. Leaving melting skin far behind, left sunglasses home and going blind. Hot tar starting to melt, I'd do anything for a conveyor belt. Soaking feet when I get home, Pretty soon, I will see bone. My house is just down the block, vultures circling as they stalk. Getting worse is the odor, laughing at me is the Caddyshack gopher. The Rock wants to know what I'm cooking, it's my feet, that is brewing. The smell is spreading worldwide, my feet are now Kentucky fried. People cheer as I reach my door, **** my feet are very sore. Sprayed my feet with tough acting Tinactin, burned so bad it melted the rest of my skin. Soaked my bones in cold water, never have I felt a road more hotter. Sprayed Fabreze for about an hour, then I took a long cold shower. Moonshine and pain pills dull my pain, it was my own fault so can't complain. Now I wear special shoes, my smelly ***** feet even made the news.

Smelly Foot
The immense striking letters of the gazette’s front page make me almost cross-eyed My mind is going to explode in the images I have seen in the television Boom! When will the politicians be weary in stealing the wealth of the country? Millions of pesos were caught in the centre of the golden sea Can we only find it from other countries? Is that the main reason why Filipinos are migrating: to find source of much bigger income? I am thinking about them together with their bosses with heavy iron hands I believe crime rate is escalating... ...the crime that can grab you 24 hours a day Can we still smell the tainted odor of pictures of the street children... children who beg for a piece of bread? Mr. President, where is the promised straight road you are pointing at? Why can’t we see it? Is it crooked? Why is it that these are the ONLY stuffing of rumors? Why can’t we focus onto a bigger and wider problem of our country and even around the world? Perhaps above all issues, this is the only concern that is not yet trending in Twitter So, I just boasted it to my open-mouthed puppy... “If I will be the President of the Philippines, I will focus first on ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES.” Suddenly, Bruno’s saliva dripped.

You are a Woman of Iron, Composed of high expectations, Forged with strong morals. Quenched by the coldness of the world. Your determination stands firm against all challenges. Victories are graciously and easily surrendered to you. Energetic and effective action. All around you, people take notice. Your are a Woman of Silk, Your feminine form, undeniably **** Your sweet odor is of respect and admiration. Your skin, amazingly smooth & firm. Your sensal lips draw me closer. Your smile, beautifuly contagious, brightens all the day. Your blue-gray eyes, sparkle of happiness and captures my soul Your sassy auburn hair, thick and shinney, bounces and flows as you graciously move about. Your voice is soothing, it sings to my heart. Your laughter, lifts my spirits, A perfect combination, you are... A woman of Iron & Silk!

Two images of flowers suddenly appeared up the sky One with beyond compare beauty While the other could be the ugliest ever seen People studied them, but they seem a mirage They just appeared out of the blue Can’t be touched, an unexplained phenomenon Until it became part of the daily life scenery One day, the public smells a lovely scent The most pleasant fragrance they’ve ever inhaled They’ve looked at the beautiful flower They’ve adored its gorgeousness Noticeably the pretty flower seems to grow more The next day, humanity smells some disgusting odor The most unpleasant stench they’ve ever breath in They’ve looked at the ugly flower They’ve hated and cursed it Visibly the unattractive flower shrunk The next morning, human race smells another lovely aroma Much more amusing than before They’ve glanced at the sky And there’s only one flower left The most beautiful one So they've dance and sang praises Not knowing, that’ll be the last beautiful scent They’ll ever inhale during their entire lives 10/21/2015 Mysterious Aries

Nurture Your Gift
I lost myself in the nightsky scaring me with it´s creatures and found a stranger in the sunrise blinding me with it´s shine and the red sky left me stained hiding my true colors it was when the ocean turned purple and the sky began to cry soaking me with it´s odor washing away my fragrance that the reflection in the ocean showed a stranger in me So scared of the night I hid myself becoming the spectator of my life watching without interacting silently in the back of my mind I lost myself in the night fearing it´s monsters but the shine of the moon brought me back and as the sun rised I finally saw I was the monster all along

I lost myself
The evening's still and quiet and the katydids abound. The flag is hanging listlessly as I listen to their sound. Desultory the summer air, as though the world awaits, "Something evil this way comes." the foe is at the gates. A feeling of impending doom accompanies the air. Nothing moves. A stifling presence hovers over there. Like a blanket, smothering t'is much too hard to breathe. And yet, my arms are paralyzed and sword, I can't unsheathe. I watch as shadows gather in miasma up the street. A harbinger of evil with an odor, sickly sweet. I feel it getting nearer and my heart beats fast with fright. What imagination ... on a stifling summer night.

On a Stifling Summer Night
In the greenest of our valleys By good angels tenanted, Once a fair and stately palace— Radiant palace—reared its head. In the monarch Thought’s dominion— It stood there! Never seraph spread a pinion Over fabric half so fair! Banners yellow, glorious, golden, On its roof did float and flow, (This—all this—was in the olden Time long ago), And every gentle air that dallied, In that sweet day, Along the ramparts plumed and pallid, A winged odor went away. Wanderers in that happy valley, Through two luminous windows, saw Spirits moving musically, To a lute’s well-tuned law, Bound about a throne where, sitting (Porphyrogene!) In state his glory well befitting, The ruler of the realm was seen. And all with pearl and ruby glowing Was the fair palace door, Through which came flowing, flowing, flowing, And sparkling evermore, A troop of Echoes, whose sweet duty Was but to sing, In voices of surpassing beauty, The wit and wisdom of their king. But evil things, in robes of sorrow, Assailed the monarch’s high estate. (Ah, let us mourn!—for never morrow Shall dawn upon him desolate !) And round about his home the glory That blushed and bloomed, Is but a dim-remembered story Of the old time entombed. And travellers, now, within that valley, Through the red-litten windows see Vast forms, that move fantastically To a discordant melody, While, like a ghastly rapid river, Through the pale door A hideous throng rush out forever And laugh—but smile no more.

The Brute in me is a gleeful beast. The Trog is older now and mellow.Yet. Pull up a chair. Just a minute of your time if you will. Sometimes, I watch  him  ooze  through the pores of my skin and he stands there. Myself and he apart He always  walks down to the river's edge where I always find him skipping stones. skipping stones and staring at the far bank. He does not see me or it seems so. This never changed for years. After some time in reverie,he turns and walks by me. I can smell the potent odor of his sweat. The brute is me at twenty three. Later still he returns to his dimension deep within my past, Wordless, yes until one day. The beast  looked  over his shoulder mid toss A stone skipped and tipped the  universal constants. Pulling a pistol from thin air he shot me at point blank. Two head, one heart. A bit of a start not mention That was a bit rude but not out of character for me at that age. No no don't get me wrong. The impulsive side Not the homicide Suicide. Hellofa ride. Well. Well without further discussion, we casually Walked back to the house an split a bottle of Stoli's And. Watched MMA bloodletting on cable T.V.
