"nkem" poems
Nkem,
With endless love,
with faith
A heart, they say, is won.
In that hope
these thousand nights
But mine, to claim, is none.
Nkem,
Are a thousand nights
all I can get
For you, for me, for us?
A thousand lonely
Nights in wait
For one night to be just.
Nkem,
Let it be sung,
A song out loud
A song of love and pain,
So that never
a thousand nights'
Vigil be gone in vain.

I remember being locked in the pumpkin of her own eyes.
Smiles that catch Snow and burn fire.
She is Nkem, Yes, My Nkem! She sparkles more than she glitters;
More than even the brightest Star.
She is a canvas; colored with all the shades of beauty.
Like the Udala tree is Sacred.
She could pass for a goddess if she is not one already
So in my heart, her temple is Laid.
