LIVE FROM RALEIGH
One early morning along the quiet forest floor, a little mushroom popped it's head out of the ground. Looking in wonder, he pushed passed the dead leaves and dirt to reach for sunlight below the canopy. "STOP!" said the forest. "You have been unruly. We have seen you try to grow with discord and disregard, denying the order. And what are you, alien? Identify as plant or animal!" The little mushroom responded, "But I only did as you did; made a home. Like the rooted trees pillar in our leafy halls, as the moss nestles among the rocks, or how the birds nest in their hollows, why am I so different? I am both you and me." The forest inhabitants pondered. In this time the mushroom grew and died. It took too long for the trees and the birds and the moss to agree by the time their fellow forest friend had passed. The trees, too slow to interrupt, cried out to all, "What have we done?!  we may not have thought him as beautiful as the rest of us, but the mushroom was a part of this forest!" As a parting token, the little fungi grew a network of strands below the trees roots to support them all, feeding and protecting them even in death. With it's dying breath, it dropped it's spores, to which would grow bountiful among the forest floor, among the trees and the rocks and moss. They had not known it, but the little mushroom was a part of a greater fungi, miles across. It had been there as long as the forest, keeping the trees company since time began, before humans, before us. Only the trees had the knowledge to understand the little mushroom, but their voices were too quiet, too slow. So the trees let the mushrooms grow in their branches and on their logs to give them a home.

A Fungi In The Forest Of Normal (Short Story)

1 Monday Night Football on a Thursday. Preseason. Johnny Manziel, running. The nurse is a signal caller, too. She flicks the wrist like Rodgers, puts spin on it like Manning. Once a rookie, now a seasoned vet. 2 Monday Night Football on a Thursday. Network glitch? John Gruden, talking. Anxiety lurks in the tall grass still licking its paws. My head's out the game. I've become an easy meal. 3 Monday Night Football on a Thursday. If I had another John he'd go right here. I miss my mother, and how she smiles like my illness only increases my value, puts gold in my veins instead of chemo. Rex throws his clipboard, I lose my appetite. 4 Monday Night Football On A Thursday. No more John's. Get over it. Game's almost over. My head fresh from the toilet, pieces of everything falling out of me. Broken. Stumbling. At this moment, football is enough.

Monday Night Football On A Thursday
I log into the network of my self-esteem, To see the hearts and the wows and the laughs flooding in. A simple 'like' wouldn’t cut it anymore ‘Likes’ were so 2010, even 2010 was bored. ‘Cause that’s the zeitgeist of the age, you see, A tendency to wear hearts on sleeves. Loves and kisses are a dime a dozen, With a million friends and followers double. National debates and social justice petitions, Real crises, distorted renditions. High definition photos of disaster zones Flash up against cat videos on every smart phone. Snapchat filters do not lie, Just tell a story of hours gone by; Selecting the perfect background, the ideal shade To express love on the dozen’th date. But that’s the zeitgeist of the century, A tendency to wear hearts on sleeves. To document in minute detail, with extensive pictorial evidence Clockwork days of humdrum nonchalance. And perhaps the generation that came before Would call it vanity, vainglory, or something more. But it ain’t like they were without their sins, We didn’t invent tabloid columnists. And now that we are at the end, Let me sign off with this request: Like, comment, and share your love Let your heart fall out of your shirt cuff.

A Tendency to Wear Hearts on Sleeves
i. you took the clouds and dyed them, used droplets of food coloring so the sky would almost always look like it was in mid-sunset, aching for the moon. ii. tomato vines, tomato vines tangled on you and you are not even mine. iii. songs that stopped being beautiful after you left me iv. they named cottage cheese after the first place we watched the food network and pretended to make a casserole for our family of six.

imagine an underground network of rapists preying on tourist & local girls; having an agreement w/ the pimps & cops [same]; the tourist guides leading the ladies of all types, mostly young, stupid & white - blonde is better; local girls hitting puberty, getting dragged into the den at twelve get a choice, if they live; the dens filled w/ liquor & drugs; partying a little or just jumping her, dragging her to the open floor; she wakes up naked, thankfully not dead, her purse nearby; she goes to meet her new Desi bf at the bazaar where he introduces her to his friends; that night the same thing happens; it happens for a week then a month, then she helps the gang get other girls into it; it goes on all summer, & on into another summer, the winter filled w/ hot springs & expensive dates on the paved side of the street; Bollywood stars in American cars paying her **** who pays her coyote who pays the cop to get her to Europe on a tourist visa to work an exclusive Parisian Brothel

the good rapists [a prostitute's tale]
*While sitting under a tree I could touch the roots above Wondering, how deep they traveled Each one holds ground Creating a network With the synergy Communications takes place, there And passes through the trunk Right up to the branches When leaves whisper among them Trying to communicate with wind To pass on the messages Those are rooted deep What may be going on there We will not know Roots that explore beyond Century of stories buried This tree stands testimony To the events The tree stands tall Weathering many adversities With roots to bear all Which have traveled deep Enveloped by rich soil*

there’s a network of vigilance around the guarded causeway of walla walla the stacked cinders and smoking rails leave nothing but black hooded fate gray halls and razor scrawls mark the hellion crust abandoned overtures and dead fill cloud the horror and retribution of this hell hole bloaters and skin heads (with wretched memoirs) shout incessantly from the second floor adolphus greely reading over the rights of nantucket and banging his head on the bent steel bars with pockets pinched and tumblers dangling the stone walls soften... a seminal moment crosses the roo house as mother mary and the good painted warrior loosen a finely tuned grip

Network of Vigilance
In this poem, I speak directly to you-know-who-because-it's-you. Dear old friend, don't miss me ever, If I had some genuine value in your life, Now I add the element of request, please, You know that most of my poems are for you, Whether normal or proposing you to be my wife, Please do not spoil your career being busy in vain, The social network & apps are a total waste of time. The social network is not a place for social service, It is only so harmful for your own career prospects. This is just my last request to you, Kripiji. I know you are upset with this preaching, But please take the positivity from this post.

Fly High While I Sing My Swansong
The pitter patter of rain echos through the soil, sending a message in morse code. Biological clocks begin to turn as fungi wake from their slumber. Hyphae radiate outward, mapping the skin of the earth, a living neural network woven into the soil of the forest.

let's face it
Earlier today, painting was the activity that we had planned I have a support teacher who would always lend a hand She had left the class to get the paint all mixed While I stayed behind to get the toys and props all fixed She came back and bore bowls of red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Lunchtime I visited a store and neatly displayed on low shelves Arranged so immaculately as if magically done by elves Were cases upon cases stitched together with only zips They almost instantly bent a smile to my lips Their colours shone brilliant red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Passed by a shop selling accessories and apparel Merchandise dangled on wall hooks and some in a jumble On the adjacent wall something caught my eye Carried all the neat little tote bags one could ever buy One peeking from a corner was red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Walked by a building, so modern-looking and new Down on one side almost obscured from view Were these horizontal rows of dancing neon lights Stopped for a minute just to soak in the sights Then I realised that they flickered red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Waited for the bus to get home at my usual bus stop Whilst waiting, I shifted and from my bag something did drop Bent over and picked my coin pouch that had fallen out Looked up only to see another commuter lingering about On his pack was a sticker which boasted red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Bus was packed, found a seat in the back row Sat myself down, I peered briefly out the window Engine under me, I scanned around to those who were seated Observed the floor beneath my shoes as it vibrated My pair of Adidas, oh my, they're red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. Got home, put my bag down and sank into the sofa Switched on the telly, on was the Food Network's "Barefoot Contessa" Surfed through the channels, caught a real estate commercial Promoting prime land in a country not anywhere regional Splashed on the screen, a flag - red, white and blue Made me think of...well, made me think of you. End of the day, it is best that I hit the sack Allow some rest for my poor aggravated back But not till I complete the words you're currently reading I'm thinking, dreaming and furiously typing How do I end this? Hmm...red, white and blue? I'm thinking and dreaming...and wishing I'm with you.

I've never been to a concert before But I imagine it feels like this Chaotic, high energy and loud Despite the distance, it's fun The energy around you Makes it so enjoyable The drum of the music The vibrations in the air The addicting sounds Makes you feel on top of the world The type of feeling that says, "I can die happy" The clarity and serenity in this moment Makes me feel calm watching you I wish I could feel this way After this is over Maybe I can see you in person Without this disconnect

We humans have messed around With Mother Nature and her eco-system For years and years Decades and decades Centuries and centuries Felling gazillions of trees Turning forests into concrete jungles Filling ponds, lakes, rivers and seas With tons and tons of toxic waste Releasing enough carbon monoxide into the air To wreck the entire troposphere The list of sins against Nature goes on and on With no end in sight Given all this, who are we to complain When Mother Nature has had enough And unleashes her fury on us Through earthquakes and tsunamis Avalanches and volcanoes Hurricanes and tornadoes Floods and droughts And so on Remember, Mother Nature has blessed us With oodles of riches In the form of plants and trees Mountains and forests Ponds, lakes, rivers, seas and oceans And last but not the least, oxygen! It is time we show her some gratitude And more importantly, respect and compassion And stop messing around with the eco-system Remember the famous old saying Live and let live It doesn't mean infrastructure shouldn't be developed We can build roads We can build a railway network We can build houses We can build schools and colleges We can build hospitals We can build libraries However, as my grandfather used to say There is a limit to everything And we should also plant trees Build gardens and parks Switch to renewable sources of energy And cut down severely on emissions A balance should be maintained After all, messing around with Mother Nature Will only bring about our own downfall There have been enough natural disasters Caused by human negligence Let's not add to the list Which is already longer than the river Nile!

Why We Shouldn't Mess Around with Mother Nature
There are two images On the wall of the room Where I live in; One is ‘Gandhi’ on his way to Dandi Another is of a **** with his gun, In between the images there is a Sprawling spider web, Networking peace with warfare Or warfare with peace! My soul mate said   “Spider web trying to network Post-modern peace with humanity & masculinity So, that everyone agrees to it before deconstruction out of trepidation.”

You ask me to prove the love I feel. I cannot prove to you the love I feel If you do not feel it on your own. I can show you lust through kisses and soft touch, As I can show attention through remembering little things. I can show care through holding your hand as you heal and Support as I wipe your slippery tears from your marble cheeks. I can show many things that are mistaken as love But that does not guarantee the everlasting sentiment, The one that is given in its true definition, at least in my opinion. Especially since it is my love you ask for, I simply cannot prove to you the love I feel For if there was real connection, the message would get through Since the network of my love is connected like our souls, Through invisible heart strings from the heart of our love That relays the affection, an impact that cannot be missed. If it was there, you couldn’t miss it. So now I ask, is my love coming through?

Love Connection
Her eyes reflect a sadness that I long to understand so I'll swim in pools of hazel float upon warm salty tears that will flow onto her ***** be absorbed into her skin catch a ride within the network of veins leading to her heart I'll immerse in her dark secrets read the stories hidden there maybe then I can unfathom sorrows of my lady fair Linda Pahl, 5/23/14

In Her Eyes
Muscles are a network of steel cables. Winding together forming the landscape of the body, Coiled to spring, convolted and twisting. Rigid and strained, beneath the skin. Taut. Tense.

It isn't difficult to befriend Especially in this virtual/real world A warm smile A simple "hi" A "like" in the social network A "share" of a posting.. Just a spoon of warmth A pinch of freshness A drop of love A bit of seasoning Is all that needed for a Perfect recipe of friendship.. A show of solidarity A mark of respect A word of compassion That is more than enough If we cant even do that much Then what is life for??

Friendship...
i remember this one conversation with such clarity it alarms me in the dead of night with a longing for ecstasy seeping through his tone he asked me, "could..you imagine....what..life...would be like...if we weren't..mentally ill?" and with that question my hanging heart sunk even lower into its pit due to jealousy and frustration for my cursed blessing and i was confused on how for i had believed my heart already laid at what i'd thought to be rock bottom well besides that, he did provoke me to question is there is a chance for my heart to find its rightful place in my body yet again? and maybe along with it all of my chemical receptors, and my neurological network of pathways could all find their own harmonious balance and natural sources of dopamine, serotonin, and epinephrine and have them work "flaw"lessly   just, way they were originally created to when the goddess of mental crafted these things with such care and gifted those beautifully painful things to humankind **** the unholy things i'd do to obtain the goddess of neurotypicality's scientific? spiritual? situational? whatever the **** is in her elixir of secret for mental peace and serenity that few were blessed with unconditionally to me it just sounds like magic but back to him the only way i could reply was with, "i could only dream" for i believe in a lifetime of mine past i may may have made a deal with the devil of neurodiversity, a fallen angel without malice, who simply forgot to grant me the knowledge   of how i would be reborn into a world where its society would be unfit for me and my kind of mind and with that thought lingering i added, "but yeah...it must be nice"
