as you
   brush by me,

we attract-

   pull to one
another
   like magnets.

our gravitational
   pull
has me
     rigid
as we....

unintentionally/ intentionally
   orbit
one another.

  and like
neodymium
  magnets,

once joined
  together,

it will
  take
heaven....
    to pull
us
    apart.

In my dreams there are smoke
detectors and crashes and lies.
There is a kiss in an atrium right
before it catches fire. There is placate,
stay straight, evacuate.
Neodymium nitrate always smells
a certain way and always looks
a certain blue. Why does an alarm
go off after I dream I've kissed you,
but never if you kiss me?
What doesn't my brain want me to see?
As Orion slinks into view
I stand mixing solvents at the centrifuge.
There is always a healthy dose
of things I don't know. Always something
for Orion to pin with her next arrow.
If I am not here, asking questions of the world,
demanding answers from what I put
into test tubes,
the next thing could be you.

It's like watching the sun melt into the horizon at sunset.

It's two sets of eyes locking into one another's like neodymium magnets.

From afar you, yourself, anticipate the moment that their lips taste the others.

Chemistry builds as does the heat now watching two, impassioned lovers.

The moon could fall right next to them and they wouldn't even notice it there.

Loving deeply as one, which once were a pair.

Gasping for breath,
they are now each other's air.

Like a demagnitised magnet I have lost all attraction, and my atoms lost their course, I can't tell North from South, so I am just standing there, hoping for a solenoid that might never arrive!
Pull and push all you want.
I can no longer sense the force field between us, and it matters not that I am made from neodymium, because I have been stripped to my core!
Maybe the atoms will align, and find their path or maybe that's just who I am.
