He woke this morning Another night of her dreams He glanced into the mirror She’s not real it seems Society unknowingly accepts The image presented Unaware of the damage Being self-inflicted He hides her for fear of rejection She battles for her reflection. ____________________ Michelle Renee Milford Nov. 2014

Down With The Patriarchy, Up With Tomato Soup
WHEN Grace Gray uncovered her wedding dress from the back of the wardrobe, she knew exactly what to do with her something old – turn it into something new. The doting gran gifted her much-loved satin gown to her daughter Michelle, so she could have it made into a christening robe for her baby Pippa. And the beautiful wee girl was all smiles on her special day in her hand-me-down, upcycled gown. Michelle, 32, said: “I always loved my mum’s wedding dress and never imagined it would become my daughter’s christening dress, but I’m so glad it did. “For Pippa to be christened in such a special family dress made the day all the more amazing.” Grace, 54, wore the pearl-encrusted ivory dress when she married husband William, 73, in Clydebank 18 years ago. Michelle helped her mum to pick the dress and was a bridesmaid at the wedding. She said: “I was quite young when my mum married my stepdad and I remember going shopping with her when she picked the dress. “It had lots of pearls and diamantes and I just loved all the sparkle. She looked so beautiful.” After her wedding, Grace packed away her dress in a box and kept it at the back of her wardrobe. Michelle, who is looking forward to her own wedding to partner Frazer Ward, 29, next year, said: “It has been there ever since but she came across it when she was clearing out. “It was her idea to have it turned into a christening dress for Pippa.” The family took the dress to Fabricated Bridal Alterations in Glasgow, where the seamstresses made not only the christening dress but a head band for Pippa and a matching hair clip for her sister Tilly, four. Michelle, who also lives in Clydebank, added: “I did feel a little bit anxious at the thought of mum’s dress being cut up but the end result was so beautiful. “Mum had a tear in her eye when she saw it.” Grace said: “I can’t think of any better use of my wedding dress than seeing it given to my granddaughter for her christening. “I felt really honoured to share in her big day in such a special way. I was overwhelmed by how beautiful she looked.” Andrina Greig, of Fabricated Bridal Alterations, said there was a rising trend for women to put their wedding dresses to good use. She added: “We’ve had more and more women getting their wedding dresses made into a christening gown for their children – but this is the first time we have had a grandmother’s dress brought in to be made into a christening gown. “Michelle’s mum’s dress was perfect for the transformation. “It was in great condition and the beading, bow and button details were ideal for scaling down and keeping as a feature on the christening dress. We were thrilled with how beautiful Pippa’s gown looked.” read more:www.marieaustralia.com/formal-dresses-adelaide www.marieaustralia.com/red-carpet-celebrity-dresses

Gran's design transforms wedding dress into christening gown

Everything with us seems perfectly entwined, Like Lego locking together, It just fits like we should know but don't, Is this another life lesson I wonder, You are actually perfection on a plate, All my wishes confirmed for my eye's to feast, You listen, converse, laugh, speak sense, Your like my concious more innocent, When alone in my thoughts I know, I fell in love along the way, I'm evaporated by your honesty, Our souls melt into the Ether, Alien yet familiar fears dwell, A fool for love and lust, Heart brashly on sleeve, Afraid I'll chemically combust, I cant see your thoughts either, Are you just honeymooning this new behaviour, Don't misread that I'm wanting it fast, My heart prays to God It will last, All I need is something more concrete, I cant sweep this away just for encase, Every waking moment I long to embrace, In you my love knew we would meet, But for now we go with the flow, Fear you will bin me for another, All helplessly in love and lost, I'm almost certain my heart'll pay the cost, We lock just like Lego blessed from above, Humanoid Lego a gift of true love. © Susan Michelle Baker

Heard a hip-hop anthem today BOSS “Michelle Obama… purse so heavy… getting Oprah dollars…” A rhythmic dance beat spelling out Confidence And Respect A baller banner of pride Flung to the ceiling, waving Women’s independence Black women’s power I see it… But Is an album adorned with 5 sultry females Clad only in a man’s shirt and high heels Singing show me the money Sold to the club scene to inspire ***** shaking And Yeager bomb throwing So we forget the work week challenges Relationship pains And Embrace vicariously our entitlements HELPFUL?

Along the banks of Lake Shelbyville That’s what I think of when it’s your birthday A camp fire burning on a cool April night We two drinking hot mauled cider Or better yet “Hornsby’s Draft Cider” Talking and laughing Making up parodies Parodies of Zeppelin and Floyd songs Listening to the nightingales and the crickets And watching fire light That almost appears to be living Watching slow rolling clouds, and feeling the whispering wind Rolling in and out and over and under The engaging light of the moon and stars And maybe some of our friends were there And maybe it was only us Brother and sister Best friends forever Retelling stories of our past Creating memories for our future Waxing religion and philosophy Such philistines, think my parents And your parents don’t get it And yes we have separate parents And yes we have the same parents (Adoption is a funny thing you see) You are my funny BIG, BIG, BIG brother Santa Claus, Sasquatch, Cave Man, and Viking And I am your little crazy sister Flower Child and Sacagawea And it is your birthday And I love you always Love, Sarah Jane Gillian Tiffany Michelle Whispering Wind Grider Minks Summers Jonathan George Washington Francis Fleming Greenlee Whiter Liston Hall Aka Awesome Pagan Goddess

In my attempt to be clever and witty I have written you a poem. For you to read and pick apart. It will start with a catchy title that will then bring you to the opening sentence. In my attempt to be clever and witty I have written you a poem. If this poem catches your eye, you will read Michelle Rose to figure out worthiness of a follow or a like. If this is uninteresting you won’t even bother to finish reading. It will end with a clever remark that could be considered sarcasm, just as the rest of the poem could have been. You will then wonder to yourself, why did I just read that, and what the hell is that second to last stanza supposed to mean? Or maybe you won’t do any of this because you’re a normal person. Did I just call you abnormal? Sometimes I like to read in the dark too… a clever remark that could be considered sarcasm, Just as the rest of the poem could have been.

Salamat muli asong mapagkalinga.

In every moon there is a man And in every man there is a heart inside of which lives a woman Who doesn't clean Who doesn't cook Who doesn't serve him Only lives within the walls of his heart And within every woman living in a man's heart There is a desire to be free It is not odd to imagine her leaving Merely odd to see her go Riding on the back of an elephant In high heels With a bottle of Chateau de Michelle And weilding the sword of a swallowing minstrel Drunkenly yelling songs of a time in which she never lived And that will never leave a man Whether the next woman comes in riding a golden chariot pulled by blazing reindeer Or mounted on a shark wearing a cocktail dress And while he laments her going She regrets her ever having left So she turns around Looks into the vast nothing behind her Trampled under the weight of the elephant Cut down by her drunken fit of rage Burned and eaten by the coming and going of others And she sees That beyond the husk of the home she once knew Lay merely arteries and valves And no soft place to lay her head So she dismounts her companion Lays down her sword Crashes the bottle upon the rocks Tears the heels from her shoes And limps into the desert Looking for that which she had already found While he lie Filling the emptiness of his ravaged heart With the tender touch of fleeting acrobats
