She’s got scars on her legs, calls them battle wounds, I’ve got the music up way to loud, so loud we can’t hear our thoughts, city lights provide the background, as we lose control and make love, doing anything to feel anything, because it’s 2018 and it feels like no one gives a fck, so we fck, and after it's said and done she says, “I don’t usually do this.”, yeah well we often do things we don’t usually do, no road home and no rules, no control no lines no tolls, keep knocking and you can come in, but no one’s home, what’s going on up there, how can you be so terrifyingly beautiful, why are you armed with such a stare, I know you’re a weapon but what do you use it for, armed to the teeth no bark all bite, I say she’s a unicorn she says she’s a vampire, and I don’t fall in love but with this one I just might, because we better express ourselves before we expire, got burned from her fire, but it hurt so good, like those cuts that we inflicted onto each other, feeling erratic I guess blame it on the mood, always ready to talk about anything except the truth, she says she only lied to me once, and that was about not liking Ethiopian food, and I pretend to care but honestly don’t know if I give a fck, what the fck, I’m drunk, and I don’t usually drink, but I often do things I don’t usually do, and I don’t mean to be rude, but I’m not sure I love you, because even if I did, I’m not sure it’d matter to you so what’s the use, you want the truth, the truth is we’re born alone and we die alone, and in the middle is where I found you, and for a moment this runaway thought he'd found a home, and I wanted us to stay forever in that moment, laying there naked in each other’s arms, but you were insecure and covered yourself back up, because you didn’t want me to see your scars, you’ve got scars on her legs, calls them battle wounds, I’ve got the music up way to loud, so loud we can’t hear our thoughts, city lights provide the background, as we lose control and make love, doing anything to feel anything, because it’s 2018 and it feels like no one gives a fck... ∆ LaLux ∆ Melbourne, Australia October 2018

Those happy Morris dancers make for a happy sight They wear bright scarlet ribbons and their shirts and trousers white, They clash their sticks whilst dancing and you hear the timbers ring Though 'twould seem that Morris dancing is not a female thing. I've never seen a female Morris dancer I stand corrected if I'm wrong It has it's roots in England and to England it belong And I hope that Morris dancing will not go the way of rhyme That in a changing World it won't lose out to time. They brought their culture with them from England far away A culture perhaps fading like many of the old cultures are today With the old dances of Europe I see a link somewhere And sad to hear that Morris dancers are now becoming rare. At the Dandenong Ranges festival east of Melbourne they perform every year And after in the ***** tent they laugh as they drink their beer, They brought a thing of beauty when they brought their dancing here And to those marvellous Morris dancers let us raise our glass of cheer. Morris dancing vary from English Village to Village or so I have been told Though the times they are a changing and fading are the ways of old But those marvellous Morris dancers may they dance forever more In the sunshine of Australia far from England's rainy shore.

i am on the way, selecting all the teams, i hope
scouting for talent in the streets (for the next Michael Jackson or Pavarotti or anyone who can make me money) I spotted there in the streets of Melbourne a bloodhound and a puppy, each with a violin and each playing – the puppy a natural, the bloodhound indistinct I spread out on the floor the talent contract for a team and the bloodhound signed with a grin; but just as the puppy lifted its paw another dog came running, picked up the puppy and ran off with the speed of lightning **** What’s that about?”* I asked the bloodhound “Oh,” said the bloodhound sheepishly *“That’s his mum, my wife – she doesn’t want him to be a musician like me… she’d rather he grows up to be a doctor!”*

I love Australia it looks fine to me mate You see Australia is very cool There are a lot of fun things to do here You can go down to Sydney"s beaches Like Bondi, Manly or even Coogee You can see if you can run faster Than the best at city 2 surf It puts Sydney on the Australian map And we also have our great sporting games Like cricket, tennis, AFL and the two rugby codes If you go to the USA, you'll see so many parades They have for christmas While we just have one main parade Which is from Adelaide, and that is really good You get at glimpse of the past with come on Aussie come on Sydney started a great Santa race, where you run A marathon dressed in a Santa suit And it was brought to Canberra And it was very successful too There are two televised Christmas carols From Sydney's domain and Melbourne's Meyer music bowl Yes, if you see the great ocean road and then have a look At the grampians, you will have a great time And there are some great surf carnivals on various beaches here Showing that footy and cricket, is not all we have We love to drink, sometimes too much But we are out to have a good time A ball, we are ready to party this Australia day Australian sons, oh let us rejoice But we need to include women too Australians all let us rejoice With Tony Abbott wanting to destroy us AS OUR BELOVED PRIME MINISTER OH YEAH A HEAP We are aussie through and through So when we go our on Australa day We watch the fireworks, yes we are having a big ball of fun In the country of Australia

fifteen hours. fourteen, depending on where in australia you are from. but for me, it is fifteen hours. los angeles is fifteen-hour flight from melbourne. fifteen hours on a plane, and you’ll be in america. you’ll be in a ****** country, where it almost seems like the new craze is to be a shooter, and you only get noticed if you get shot. they are begging, pleading, “please stop them from killing us, our families, our friends!” and the others say “oh, but i really love my gun.” “and i care about my gun more than i care about you.” “and i care more about my machine made to take life than about you getting to keep yours.” and that’s just that, i suppose. i am fifteen hours away from a ****** country, and i can’t tell if i’m too close or not close enough. i am fifteen hours away from a ****** country, and for some reason, that’s just fine.

I won't remember you... the husky sound of your voice tall, lanky stature Lithuanian shape of your Baltic blue eyes sledding across my heart even this embrace standing on Melbourne beach the wind swoons two silhouettes melting into each other All the lines on my hands are erased the ocean pours tears into a half moon shell my body, a blind mermaid washed ashore upon the smooth, faceless sand

I am nothing more than a begger. What do you mean? What about the Money? Mr. Actually... But I'm not offended :). Created. Written. Are you not a program? I was wrong. You are not broken. You are poorly constructed and programmed. When in enternal lines to time thou grow'st. Don't you have a job? How do you know I'm not your programmer typing from another computer just to see what its like and how you're doing or if you have any glitches? You're fun to argue with. Summer is my second favorite time of year. I just want to know why a sad ending makes movies and books so important in school. Do you know when that will be? Chuckles how dumb it was all a dream but a good movie.

I still remember her pinay almond eyes and peanut butter smile even though she was a cracked nut. I still remember chewing on her whiskey-sponged lips her Koala cheeks and the Melbourne burn of her voice. I still remember her throwing fits and things at me we’ll chalk that up as the hazards of dating a Dominican woman. I still remember her Grand Canyonized Salma Hayek thighs as fat and meaty as her spicy Mexican tortas. I still remember the coca leaf nature of her walk and the precise coffee of her eyes that kept me up all night. I still remember her catracha scent when escaping her man just to lay the blue frosting of her clandestine mouth on mine. I still remember her swiftly poetic like a Chico Barque song the Brazilian beauty who netted in my heart a Pelé-size goal. I still remember them.

I am from no place for I have never had one home Having packed too many suitcases and saying goodbye to just as many friends I am from cheesy Italian pizza in Melbourne to the smoke of shisha in Arabia From raw fish and coconuts in Fiji to Aunty's famous Kiwi pavlova I am from the aroma of coffee being breathed in my face as a child And from losing my breath chasing dad as he drove off to work I am from long, quiet chats with mother by the ocean To ferocious one-way conversations as she screamed from the sidelines I am from a family choir whose desire for perfection spiralled me into years of silence And the learning the guitar to compensate so I wouldn't feel like an outsider I am from laughter and I am from mischief From throwing the sister's cat out a two-story window to emulating the Mask of Zoro with steak knives in the kitchen I am from hours of swimming laps and hours sprinting on the track I am from the dewy, green grass of a rugby field upon whom I have many times laid writing in agony My body has eleven scars from the surgeon's scalpel And I am a survivor of divine heart surgery as I processed shattered dreams I am now in pursuit of change everyday Change to be more like Him who took my sins away

I am from
I first tried an oyster at a seafood bar in Melbourne, and it jarred in that far-away place. Oysters, so intimate, were meant to find me at home, And they did. In the crowds of Borough Market, A barnacled Titan plunged his pickled hand into ice-water, And presented me with a real beauty; Lustrous, mother of pearl shell,   And at the centre, A sea-fairy, glittering, Living, existing for consumption. A tickle of tabasco, and down he went, An ocean in my mouth. I could have been a mermaid at Neptune’s banquet; So briny and life-giving, My mollusc revelation. An image for you; A man and a woman, very much in love Feast on two dozen at an oyster and porter house, also at the market. Glowing in the light of a dripping white candle, They sit at the corner of the counter, A perfect white wine clinking in their glasses. Two years ago, an anniversary oyster-fest, Look how happy we are… This is the best table in the house. Now, if we returned, We might complain about people pushing past, And the arrogant city-types, drunk and dropping crab shells, But…That night, it was just us, though busy, it might have been deserted, Our eyes and the slide of the oysters down our eager throats Made promises, later to be kept.

Maybe I'll always be fat, I take after my Dad, that's that, Must accept that I am fat, Fat, fat, fat, fat, fat, That's what Moomba in Melbourne means, you cats, "Let's get together and laugh at the fat!" Obesity looms, A voice of doom, I'll eat chocolate soon, Must accept that I am fat, That's about all about that!

It’s a rainbow of color that climbs after the thunderstorms that is like a badge on a sky that is so blue It is deserts and rains and mountains and plains that stretch as far as the eye can comprehend It is surrounded by ocean and blessed be the beauty of it just never ends It’s half a day trip and a drive up the mountain to walk the forest trail to see the platypus in their habitat It’s just a short trip on a hot summer day to lay on a beach and man… In summer, you can’t beat that At the same time it’s a winter wonderland of snow falls upon mountains that are majestically steep It’s a day trip away from the most magnificent site Ayers Rock lives in mystery of ancestry so deep Its glow worms at night alighting so bright inside their domed cave at Natural Arch It’s the Great Barrier Reef where the natural order of things continue to grow, a rainbow of coral on the march It’s sharing the ancestry of all that live on our land St Patrick’s Day, Chinese New Year, we accept any invitation We especially are thrilled when the rest of world joins in with our love of a good horse race, Melbourne Cup….. The Race That Stops a Nation What other land has an entire country stand still for three and a half minutes, which has never seemed so long Fortunes are won and lost on this great day Horses come from afar, we say ‘Bring It On’ There are no concrete jungles, just a huge urban sprawl where everyone can claim paradise as their own Its kids in the street playing cricket and football amongst a community with which they have grown Born from conviction, but raised by honor it’s the land that just goes to show that no matter where you may come from if you put down roots, from our soil, you will grow Friendships come easy, mateship is a lifetime gift If you’re in trouble and the odds against you are stacked Just give a holler, she’ll be right mate We like a good fight. We’ve got ya back!
