"mandelly" poems
Just a cousin and the stars and talk of you, and 27 jail-years; 'Forgive or stay behind bars.' But Nelly Mandelly, I've got sand in my eyes and lead in my belly. Oh Nelly Mandelly we do things with the best intent yet hurt each other terribly. I've got blood on my lips and grenades in my belly. Oh Nelly Mandelly: as Johnny sang, who can blame the voice of youth for asking: what is truth? Everyone I know wants to be more free, including me. We've got songs on our lips and the sky in our bellies. Oh, Nelly Mandelly
