"mandarin" poems
Never be ashamed of your native language Say those beautiful Phrases and words Loud and proud. Do not let anyone stop you from speaking Let your voice be Heard and recognized Don't you dare let anybody make fun of your accent Embrace the thickness Don't ever lose grasp of it. For it is one of the precious treasure You could ever hold on to After leaving your homeland To start a new life in a foreign country That offers you a whole lot of new opportunities. Hold on to your mother tongue As tight as you can Because this new country you now live in Will do its very best to change your identity And oppress your culture. So it be French or Spanish Korean, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilonggo Greek, Punjabi, Hindi, Sinhalese Arabic, Vietnamese, Portuguese German or Russian And any other language there is in the world. It has exquisite words that just cannot be simply translated into English For it has far greater meaning behind it It is very much well-written Alluring to one's eye and Spoken eloquently and gracefully That the English language is not able to compare To your admirably and enticing Well-spoken mother tongue.

your mother tongue.
we'll agree then, you can't rhyme orange but perhaps maybe we could arrange to use instead mandarin that or possibly tangerine

how to respond to a polar bear
I knew the orange on the orange tree you had an ache in your shoulders uncomfortable in an unnatural way yesterday I passed you talking to flowers you hadn't moved you hadn't strayed but hiding in the leaves was a forced disguise the omens told me something quiet and unceasing reminding me of a slumbering domesticated cat dreaming of cutting yourself loose from truncated ease dropping down from the branch with panther steps licking fruit lips ripe with revealed acidic petals riddled with a past you revelled mixing in with zest shocking chances stepped in for the next dance sleep taken aback by wings cut from a dark sky the sidewalk pitted and cracked beneath the pounce relief escaped the twigs with a spring like waking prey pressing into night foliage shaken from a nice balance as I saw you take control with nothing to mask your face on the surface too smooth for violence was laughter of glowing gloom to embarrass and deter such rebellious arrogance with a twist struggling from a lame curse its flavours sharp against your sweetened perfume muscle expecting you to build a limestone shed for tears rather than take on the night with a mind to wrestle the outside aches for your physical attraction gaining courage from the purpose in your eyes tense as the tightness of your dress' intention demanding that my hands draw from such lines the sinuous heat of pulsing flesh's invitation curved upon seeds not chaste but not quite refined which I try not loving with some cool disambiguation you left me the taste of syrup of grenadine too reputable to ripple vain red tipple eyed on a table spilt with pink gin and mandarin sharp teeth tingling a tartness into my hand sliding slowly at a tilt like drops of sweat on skin focus dwindling into the clasp of an escaping shade wrapped carefully under soft rice paper and then tucked under a heel with a pointed kick like a blade only to feel you relent and burst open soft in appeal again and again

Words and phrases that rhyme with ****
I like mandarin oranges I like the way they taste I like they way they look I like how they fit in pockets I like their straightforwardness I like that they are easily segmented I like how easily shared they are with others I like how I can hold a few in my hand at once I like the feeling when I peel it all in one long peel I like running my thumb under the skin as I peel it I like the way they make my hands smell afterwards, orange-y I like how people seem mildly impressed when I am finished peeling I like folding the skin back into its original sphere like I never peeled it at all I like when people play along when I give it to them even though they know it’s just skin I like putting the peel on my head like hat or fake hair and pretending it’s normal I like pinching the peel and looking at the little spray of citrus I like ripping the peel up into little, tiny, itty-bitty pieces I like having that little orange pile on my desk I like knocking the little green ****** off I like chewing on the big pieces of pith I like looking at the word pith I like saying pith, pith, pith I like mandarin oranges

*Come, we have a story, said the Old Man. Come, sit and I shall tell you all a little tale of a donkey, a boy and his father…and of strangers too…and many a busybody… And the children sat round the campfire and the Old Man began his tale…* One day (and this is many, many uncountable days ago) Father called Son and he said: ‘Son you are grown now into a fine young lad and you must learn how to buy and sell and make a profit ‘So, come let us go you and I to the market to see what silver coins we can get for this old donkey in our shed’ 2 And so Son and Dad set out for the town market across the sandy and rocky miles and some way off Dad grew tired and he said: ‘Ah, Son this walk tires me and so I shall ride the donkey while you walk by the side; so, come let us go you and I to the market to see what silver coins we can get for this old donkey that I shall ride’ 3 ** ** What do we have here?’ came a voice as the Dad sat riding the donkey while the Son walked by the side ‘A cruel father you are,’ said the Family Standards Officer ‘Get down, you grown man and let the child ride!’ And the Father was ashamed and so he let the Son ride the donkey and he walked beside And the Family Standards Officer was extremely pleased and he filled up his forms and he bade the Father and Son safe journey: ‘Ah, this is another success story of the Family Welfare Dept where conscience has won the day and the Son rides the donkey and the Father walks beside’ 4 And the Father and Son are gone but a mile, a mile - when another interruption came their way, heading straight their way…. ‘What do we have here?’ came a scream and the Mandarin of the State Morals Education stopped the trio and the Mandarin glared disapprovingly at the boy riding the donkey and he said: ‘Where is your filial piety? Know you not the son must do his duty by the father? Get off the donkey - you young donkey! and allow your father to ride while you walk with reverence and duty beside!’ And so now we have the Father on the donkey and the Son walking beside all three slowly on and on Father and son to the market to see what silver coins they might get for this old donkey that they have taken turns to ride 5 Then comes an old woman and she mutters to herself as she passes by: ‘Ah, what’s come of life that a father should ride and allow the young to walk.’ And so the Father bids his Son be a pillion rider with him on the donkey and so they ride merrily, merrily on to the market to see what silver coins they can get for this old donkey that they both ride 5 But no sooner have they covered but a mile, just a mile with the respectable Father and the filial Son (both on the hapless donkey) when a voice thunders out from the bush and the Animal Rights Activist stands out and he screams: ‘Oh, you cruel people that you should ride a helpless donkey ! Shame on you! Much better that you both carried the creature!’ And of course the Son and Father so reasonable and always with an open mind they jump off the donkey and they carry the donkey all the way all the way just four more miles just four more miles and they soon come into the market carrying the donkey and shouting: ‘Donkey for sale! Donkey for sale!’ 6 And the buyers at the markets they see this Father and Son carrying the donkey and screaming: ‘Donkey f or sale! Donkey for sale!’ And the buyers they say: ‘But it appears, Sirs, there are three donkeys for sale three donkeys for sale! In declaring “Donkey for Sale!” when there are clearly three are you offering three for the price of one?’

Kemarin aku mengajakmu melihat senja. Katanya kamu suka warnanya merah jambu bercampur oranye seperti jeruk mandarin kesukaan ibu. Terhanyut malam. Aku tidak ada di sana. Kamu menolak senjaku. Katamu ada senja yang lebih bagus. — Senja, senja, senja. Muak dengan puisi senja. Aku bukan anak indie regional, aku pendengar Ed Sheeran, top 50 ,Danilla Riyadi dan Sapardi ! Aku ya begini begini begini!

Bukan Puisi Senja
oh, **** i'm so full of love it's spilling out of me like bullet wounds, like i've been court martialed, like i'm the pinpoint of a broken sheet of glass, the part from which everything else shatters; of course i'm the centre of the universe, who else would be? who else could love this way, fierce and terrible and hating? who else other than me could break the universe for another chance at hello or at two thousand and nineteen? which isn't to say i'm manic. which isn't to say that i don't cry in the shower and scream in the car. i do. but when i do, i'm the main event; nobody booked tickets to see anybody but me here. don't kid yourself, world. don't make me laugh. don't act like everything is okay when i'm breaking the baby-bird bones of my fingers every time someone else talks. me, the human stress ball. me, twenty stories tall and universe-filled with love, nothing else can even come close. i'm ******* godzilla, i'm interplanetary, i'm that giant ******* marshmallow man from ghostbusters getting shot at by the heroes. maybe there's just too much of me to love the way i need to be loved; completely, obsessively, like an illness. oh, god, i want to be loved like i'm sick. not just another hospital bed but the whole **** ward all for me. all eyes on me. nobody looking anywhere but me and *oh, please, i'm fine, really, i don't need all this attention.* like i'm daring the world to divert it away. a birthday list of gifts: - a fifth of whiskey - a gun with one bullet - the attention that people get from the crowd below before they jump off a building i don't think i'm asking for too much here. i feel like i'm one of those unlucky ******** born on christmas day who get half the presents for twice the occasion. how cruel must god be to birth me anywhere but eden, into a world where other people exist, where we have jobs and say hello to store cashiers and divide up our attention like slices of mandarin. so where's this revolution i ordered? where are the people making me important? i need a cause to lead and a muzzle for my heart, and i'll burn on and out, not like a star, but like the end of the ******* universe itself. and here i am, acting like i matter when i really only want to matter to you. i don't care how you want me to revolve as long as i'm a lone moon. as long as the tides are all mine; see, it's a lot more complex than me playing easy villain or anti hero. it's not been about me this entire time. but i can't write poems about any other subject.

Little Box talks back With a new set of teeth And pink gums A fake nose and a wax mustache She disguises her voice To sound like Groucho • Little Box opens up And cries to her psychiatrist I don’t know why they hate me I’m such a sweetheart I volunteer at the zoo And teach Mandarin To their bratty children • Little Box is not happy to see you So she closes herself up for months Years, decades, and two millennia! She tacks up a sign that says Nirvana • Little Box is undead She sleeps all day in a coffin Hands over chest At night she cruises the mall For juicy victims She prefers type A But AB if she has to What can you say Vampires can’t be choosy She likes your stupid brother • Little Box is on the psychiatry couch Everybody hates me Nobody loves me Little Box lies on her side And spills her guts • What’s in Little Box A perfect orchid A chocolate-covered strawberry A new iPhone With a glittery sleeve Amber earrings from Pushkin Keys to a new Porsche A retro Chanel brooch A Getty scion’s left ear A Czar’s ***** Gifts so rare Please don’t stare • What’s in Little Box Rancid chow mein A sliver of cold pizza Last week’s hummus You’re a starving orphan From East Brooklyn And you’ll eat it • So you want to **** Little Box You want to know her secret She won’t open up She won’t give it up And you are genuinely repelled By her filthy ribbon • You want to DO the Little Box You are a sorry story You big creep Why don’t you get off the couch and find A real girlfriend! • Boss Box White, square, and without a soul! • Please don’t analyze Little Box She’s just cardboard clogging the landfill Her mother Precious Jade Purse Has been regifted

The thunder-storm of my deepest, darkest blues but at the same time my peace, my calmest of oceans. With him my highs are complete. my very own overdose of intoxicating substance, bought highs that's only cheap thrills, this high can last a life time but when the high is gone I feel all shades of blue but the lows are worth the intoxication. It's not a bond worth breaking. how can he be my strength and weakness right at the same time? how can the negatives and positives be entwined? this bittersweet love, this mandarin-oranges juice that drips right on my tongue. this pineapple juice with bits situation, this bittersweet love. this bittersweet love, filled my plain canvas with colour, fresh wounds are open. this colour palette of cut up feelings and emotions that gives my black and white canvas colour, love. this bittersweet love, you're my good morning and good night, my hello and my goodbye, you're my random smile, my dark knight, the one who has my soul you're my bus journey thought, my topic of conversation, you're my...do I look right? Mandarin
oh such few words are minded, no bravery apart from the homosexuals as skeletons in the chronicles of Narnia being discovered among the skeletons of tyrannosaurus rex making a bed with its wheelchair able paws - and the flag of the Cymru fire-breathing turtles before excavation   and the myths of the mandarin too; now tell me the sub-human plot with the Normans when the anglo-sax reigned to teach me to unlearn english to avoid assimilation, like you taught your former colonial subjects to integrate and to alievate keeping assimilation: which you taught to unlearn the mother's tongue and learn a discrimination against furthering the multi-cultural project... which you taught to integrate and keep at loss a sacred soul of never assimilating akin to jew...integrate i must, assimilate i care not for should i be totally albino or asserting bleached with peace: albino oder beteuern gebleicht mit frieden. integrate i must to utilise the coinage but to assimilate i must turn into a reggae african with roots in the Caribbean than the Ivory Coast... and god willing i will not claim to be an arab's brother to settle karma over uplifting the curse over Mecca with ibn Saud's clock-tower; burn!!!

Sapiosexuals^ she quoted Shakespeare most appropriately when needed, her fevered fervor scientific was the non-fossil fueled engine that STEMed her quantum analytics of NFL football, as an intellectual amuse bouche, that was uncannily correct, on FIFa she passed it was just too corrupt, but Wimbledon was”fun” we all bet her predictions for her error rate was insignificant she claimed her knowledge of a cure for Alzheimer’s was done, but bio-pharma suppressed, and a single pill existed taken once, could cease and desist the brain for craving ******* but the politics were too complicated and really boring to explain instead she preferred to wile the hours hanging with lesser poets, to see if taking them at their word was an accurate indicative of their professed prowess in bed but when she sampled my wares regularly, I called her study statistically biased, to which she replied, “ain’t you the lucky one, that my standards are lowly rigorous, and you possess a mighty cute bi-assymetry“ in Croatian or Mandarin (unsure) smart lassie indeed

red ink and red lipstick there is nothing so red and gruesome than a fireheart, a bleeding heart, striking matches and flickering on cold white sheets and with your skin white as poetry (T. S. Eliot's sighs, Bukowski's love bites, a blush red as Plath) and your bed is neatly made, and my sheets are a field of unmown lilies and the creases are pressed out, changed, scarlet lipstick streaks and crimson ink washed away. I swore-- like a sailor who's lost her heart to the waves-- you could point to your ghosts and I would burn them with all of my fierce and my fury and all the fire that I had. I wish I was your sister that no name nor space could come between our fingertips, our morbidezza fingertips like Mandarin porcelain and the space between our fingertips is the space between heaven and earth.

the only thing worse than apologizing
Where, then, do I apply for bribery? Russians are everywhere here, we are told So why aren’t those nefarious oligarchs Flinging dollars and dachas at poor me? And the Chinese, poking and hacking about (My last water bill was in Mandarin) Have yet to pad my secret bank account Or park a Porsche on my patio But if they will… I want to spy for the cool FBI And party away with the CIA

Three blind babies in the caterpillar nest The songs turn their limbs Torrents of Mandarin wash over the silk Watercolor cilia crawl toward the tomb corners Awake at the Kremlin with fluoride eyes built to take in the exotic pour the ***** and the women and masterpieces launch into the frozen countrysides Lapping of the close water moon shrouded in a prismaic screen the shadow of salt beside the beast of south China sea Amnesia spreads dripping thrands answering only to the ocean the language of caterpillar shout from our arranged marriage

Goddess
Like the rainbow shooting out of the horizon: a whole palette of colours emerges, carrying in her wings, all the embers of the late monsoon - a side glance, bass strummed of the heart; Her dimpled smile, drumbeat, missed. brass, sax, crossing paths, leaping on a trampoline, the ***** shrill. O my towering folly, that stands mourning like a lighthouse with the gulls by the rough sea. All the tones come alive hidden in this song that like amber held a slice of that time in her depths, screen covered in mist, as now a car pulls over: clearing it as in a Mandarin Ai, a hut and some jagged lines: glimpses, of that dimpled smile - and a whole jazz band comes alive.

All that jazz...
Meet me in the mandarin sun Down by bottom bridge I'll wait for you till sunset comes And not a minute less I'll stare into the glistening stream Maybe hum a lonely tune The horizon line will be my watch a yellow tint the falling hand Meet me where the river ends And turns into open blue I'll be laughing to myself Still waiting where the pine tree stands   Oh the orange sun up high Does get so very low Don't leave me in the dark this time Don't leave me there alone Save the last speck of dying light with your ghostly silhouette Oh leave me in the upset sunset Or leave me lay to waste

Upset Sunset
The bare hand hugging thoughts. reminiscing the sigh Heart broken, eyes broken. Peaches of mandarin and orange Rise, burn, smell of the other day. In the silence of the small room   I hear everything, and darkness lies in the castle of the ego.
