"lecturers" poems
This is Nigeria
This is Nigeria; presidency turns sick leave.
This is Nigeria; one-sided democracy.
Double standard constitution, everything is dazy.
This is Nigeria; police bus be calling crowd.
Enter and become cowed.
This is Nigeria; best graduating student gets a thousand naira.
This is Nigeria; I hope we can differentiate between private and public institutions.
Lackadaisical attitudes everywhere, except religion institutions.
This is Nigeria; over a year strike in our foremost sector but it's a norm.
Corruption; a living form.
This is Nigeria; education is dull.
This is Nigeria; economy problem is solved by increased school fees.
Such government still gets a second term. Madness; it's our liss.
This is Nigeria; lot of resources but we still pray for light.
Food, security and rights.
This is Nigeria; lecturers give grades anyhow.
This is Nigeria; Animal is swallowing money.
In a government with the main aim of fighting corruption, it's funny.
This is Nigeria; politicians changing parties.
Playing with our lives like they're *******

It’s a new day dawning yet we’re still living in the past
Embracing colonialism and saving the rest for last
You know, the rest meaning the other cultures because you think they don’t matter
But it’s time for that glass of classism and racism to shatter
It’s funny how when I go to University I’m rarely taught by people who look like me
No matter how much the white lecturers may try, they will never understand my cultural identity
So don’t get mad if I doze off in your lecture because I just can’t relate
If I speak up I may start the great debate
Learning about Ancient Greeks and those who lived in Rome is fine
But what about the indigenous people of the Caribbean or stories of what went through the slave’s mind?
University is more than just learning about what makes Western culture great
There’s more to this world that we can truly celebrate
America and Haiti both had a revolution
So if we want to make a change we need to come up with a solution
It’s a new day dawning and we plan to decolonise
Despite our obstacles, we will rise

The intense heat of summer begins to relax
Damp sticky air gradually changes to dry, comfortable breeze
In the dark clear sky there hangs the bright full moon
All these remind the Mid Autumn Festival is around
If not the story of Chang'e, the Moon Gooddess of Immortality
The Mid Autumn Festival will have lost its charm
Family gatherings, festive meals, gifts giving and greetings
Are all important and popular in this joyful season
Autumn is also a significant moment for the students
College students will prepare for their new learning programmes
New friends, new lecturers, new courses and new objectives
Seem like a beautiful and exciting world ahead of them to fulfill
On the night of Mid Autumn Festival
Crowds of people go out together to the parks
Children play with lanterns and people share the food they bring
The beautiful moon brings lovers together, pledging their love to each other

And nothing falls into the hands of women
But ensured self destruction for sure
God grant us the power to endure
Find us a cure
She doesn’t pull the trigger but she assures
That you have your finger squeezed nice and tight
And nothing falls into the hands of men
But realized not secure
The governments the politics the men that walk at night
The fights the cars the soldiers out of sight
The bad comedy the music and whatever products we have produced
Become but a threat
A lethal playground for lunatics
Lets say the lecturers of our legacy
Legalizing death
Men and their mess-ups you know…
And nothing falls into the hands of women
But women grab what they want
And from upbringing to mood swinging
The bees stinging
The queen laughs
As she gets drunk on honey
And honey! Am home
Shouts the masculine mishap
Mistaking his mistress from his real wife
And his real wife doesn’t exist
Prepare the food and strike up a conversation
About the sweat on collars
And the choreographed tv scenes we call news
She looks at him
for man is malleable
And change is an outcome of ignorance
Or being too ******* desperate
And nothing falls into the hands of humans
Except death on paper
Perpetually becoming social ******
Murdering the men and women involved in societies
That defy human formalities
Since we are co-existive
But whatever that word is I don’t feel it
Because men want to **** women and women want to **** men
But the same goes for love
And the same goes for caring
And whatever complexities of corruption
Computing the loses a man and a woman compete about
But losing is a final solution
The institution of life…and presumingly we all get to have the striking sense
Of death on paper .

Oh to be outstanding
The envy of the competition
Persecute your staff
Beat them into submission
Observe, observe, observe
Big brother's watchful vision
Ticking the right boxes
OFSTED the clinical prison.
Countdown to the tension
All pristine and plush
Staff room full of imodium
Lecturers with the bums rush.
Enjoy, achieve, the mantra
All students must behave
Differentiation ********
Woah betide should 1 disengage.
Good with outstanding features
Nearly there, thou shalt not rest
Cut the ******** principal
Its really second best.
Satisfactory & beyond
The prin is hot to trott
Arranging special measures
You'll all be ****** shot.
OFSTED, jack boot people
Gestapo in the making
Strangling education
Ensuring you're all faking.
Inspectors, nah! Failed teachers
Getting their own back
Splitting hairs & picking faults
Nasty ****** *****
Oh how the mighty fall
So without further ado
Leave them teachers alone
OFSTED, you ***** **** YOU.

for them to write a haiku,
for us is to write A, or B, or C -
if our form of encoding
sound wasn't as it already is:
we wouldn't have chemistry -
say Na and sodium,
Rd and radon;
they write haiku like
we write A B or C, to them haiku is
our version of the alphabet,
the succinct -
hard to orientate
units of encoding
as complete meaning /
majestic -
we just find
it hard to spell /
put the puzzle back together,
the puzzle is still
a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p
q r s t u v w (x y z)
v.i.p reservation
for mathematics (in brackets):
now... the mystery of life,
primarily? put that puzzle back
together. is it a puzzle in
the first place? how should i know?!
it's all fair game:
they write a haiku we write an A,
they write another haiku,
we write a B, the ****** puzzle
is there for the taking:
all you have to do is take some
play-dough on your little camping
adventure and come back with something
remotely needing boxes and shelves
and libraries, and university lecturers;
perhaps a few cannibals to boot too.

YOU CAN
In learning there Abide teaching and in teaching, learning dwells.
Both the lecturers and schoolers has somewhat to teach the other.
Life's but a class.
Every persons you met has some lessons for you.
Never underestimate anyone. For everyone you're seeing is unique.
Most times people condone a torn book because it has no lid.
However it's contents could heal the world. Off his old age plagues.
Meanwhile a fancy backed book may likely destroy the earth.
Looks deceive. The most beautiful & valuable thangs in the universe are invisible.
You think the most valuable thing is material?
If so you're **** totally wrong, don't be fooled, never let
your head be used or brain washed.
True feeling,
True emotions inherit the earth.
Choose wisdom over everythang,
Where an all the rest Abode.
Elevation, no dream is too big to achieve,
No cliff or hill is too high to ascending.
You can!
Nothang is impossible but to say impossible.
It's impossible to say impossible.
Even the word
impossibility says I'M POSSIBILITY from the rear side.
You've got to change your conception and decisive reaction.
