"karachi" poems
If I was a king of Asia I would give you all the gold there is
But I'm not even prince of Persia, all I have is love and dreams
Let me show you land of legends, land of honeymoon and rising sun
I am not as rich as Ali Baba, but I promise we'll be having fun
I'll take you to Bali the gem of Java Sea
Then we'll go on to safari a little south of Abu Dhabi
I'll take you to Maldives to swim in coral reefs
We'll enjoy the sweet papaya on the islands of Pattaya
I'll show you lake Baikal, Tibet and Taj Mahal
We'll see Macao, Yokohama, Hanoi, Jeddah, Jaipur, Jakarta
I'll take you to Dubai, Dushanbe and Mumbai
We'll spend some starry nights in yurts near the city of Yakutsk
I’ll take you to Tashkent where melons got their scent
We will taste all sorts of apples in the city of Almaty
I’ll take you to Beirut we'll go nuts on dried fruits
And the coffee with vanilla we can try it in Manilla
I'll take you to Kashgar to shop at old bazaar
Then we'll fly a magic carpet to the markets of Qatar
We'll see ruins of Karakorum the old capital of Moguls
Then we'll go to Kathmandu and then Karachi and Kabul
We'll discover caves with treasures, make three wishes all at once
All at once will turn to a fairy tale, like in one and thousand nights
Let me show you feast of colors, take you cross the dunes in caravans
Even if I don't look like Alladin, I sure know a thing about romance
I'll take you to Taipei to see its lovely bay
We will sip on Coca Cola on the silky sands of Goa
I'll take you to Shanghai where towers touch the sky
And the best of architecture we will see in precious Petra
We'll go to Ashgabat, Bishkek, Busan, Baghdad
We will see Great Wall of China and Cambodian Angkor Wat
We'll see the Everest, mount Fuji, Gobi Desert
And it's certainly my pleasure to take you all around Asia!

Sound of a gun
Echoed deep
While the whole city
Was fast asleep
Screams and cries
And more firing
People injured
While tons of dying
A war for peace
With an unknown rival
Destroying so many families
And leaving them so critical
Why were they killed?
What was there crime?
They were just innocent people
Busy in their lives
Having fear in their hearts
They are still ready to face
Ready to give their life
If it takes to end this blaze
I just pray
That someone hear the pleas
Of the brave survivors
Living in Karachi

Karachi,
I love Karachi,
not just because'
this city has allowed to'
my grandparents and'
than my parents to'
make their homes here,
but her sky,
moon, sun, air,
ocean and soil are'
breathing in me as a love,
Love is name of a feeling,
where you would try to leave'
that place or a person,
but more you try,
more you feel home'
within them,
As same I do feel with Karachi.

I found no fault in the stars
but I did find some in the design
and with a bit of authority in grasp
I changed how they aligned
Clear nights of June raised
doubts over observations
Fates and destinies changed
along the course of constellations.
Witnessing the miracle
losing clue as what to believe in
and the spawns of science
losing all will to seek reason.
On that night of wonder
the ships reached their haven
guided by the stars that kept
changing their placement.
And the night for once
was brighter than the day.
Much to the traveler’s delight
who tread along the lit ways
Happiness was welcomed
sorrow was eradicated
On the brook of hope
Optimism cascaded.
Families reconciled
as stars at distance burned
fathers greeted with open arms
their sons, as they returned.
What I saw I couldn't believe
Far from what I could imagine
what was believed as impossible
on that night was bound to happen.

*I've read two poems about kissing today
Something I read about each other day
I've read about insomnia and sad rhymes
I've heard the bell of memory ring to hard times
I've read about poems titled three and eleven
I've read about a child expected to be in heaven
I've probably read about Tenth Avenue North
I've read so much today, for all It's worth
I've read about the rain in Karachi, poetry and trance
I've read about fate, destiny, hard work and chance
I've read torture, sadness and heavy grief
And somewhere somehow It's all but relief
I've read about flies patterning samun's window pane
Soon as she opens, I've read about a poet's pain
I've read as far as the trending, "Drunk a few "
I've read so many and more are still on the cue
But I've realized in all of them there's this one thing
I've read without tiring because I've read me
Spread on the white pages of hallo poetry
I guess It's true what they say
About the poet being one thing as the poetry
Some are and some ain't okay*

welcome to America.
where there had been 11 school shootings before
the end of january of 2018.
welcome to America
where the mentality of the attacker
is the problem,
and not the system.
welcome to America
where a 17 year old Pakistani girl was killed in her school
among 9 other beautiful souls.
welcome to America, Sabika
which was greeted to you nearly six months ago
where you arrived in the "land of hopes and dreams"
to learn and grow and achieve.
welcome to America
the country that showed promise from the looming Taliban threats in Karachi, your hometown.
welcome to America
the country that you were going to help save Pakistan
by building stronger US - Pakistan relationships
and showing women empowerment by being
(possibly) the second female prime minister of Pakistan.
never again would you watch fireworks explode in the sky on August 14
never again would you count up your money on Eid
never again would you eat your mom's biryani on a hot summer day.
welcome to America, Sabika Sheikh
your hopes and dreams were alive and floating
in the land you gave your heart to
and the land that would take it away.

according to my mother happiness was a choice
religion country then family a fortress
and why was I so sad and cold
According to daddy at least
I wasn’t in Karachi where rats and corpses littered the streets
jesus bled a ******* lot in the streets of another city
and was my redemption
but how was he different from
another corpse?
how was
his blood and dissolution
different,
besides a better eulogizer?
He seemed to me
simply a man
a philosopher betrayed
by supposed friends
I did not find redemption in confirmation
of the knowledge of gold rimmed pages
and biased text.
Where I found divinity
was in the flesh and blood arms
of people that I vaguely knew
they held me together
while biochemicals
tore me apart from my moorings
and there were no lies
about salvation through death
they said only,
once you go,
you can’t come back.

We're living in pain and it's such a pity,
But no one cares enough for my city,
Lords of doom keep ******* its belly,
We’re human, you demons, you’re bleeding my alley,
Save us from evil, we don't complain,
Please let our cries not go in vain,
Karachi is out dry from cuts of corruption,
Please save its people from utter disruption,
Please help us Allah, we aren’t bad in behavior,
Imran Khan is the one, please make him our savior.

Our next stop proved to be margially better. It was Karachi, a civil airport.
Surely there would be better amenties there, we were going to a brand new hotel! there were four of us in a room, I was first to attempt to take a shower, I stripped off and turned the shower on , There was a noise like a loud cough, and a horrible foul smelling watery mud blasted out. filling the room with an unbearable stench. Fortunately I Just managed to step back in time to avoid being sprayed with it. I dressed quickly and joined the lads in the bar. One of the aircrew spoke to me. What ever you do, don't drink the water, stick to beer.! I had a serious Migrain problem, and I was not about to drink beer- it tended to bring on severe attacks. I and a corporal friend opted for bottled orange juice, not knowing that it had been (home made) in the hotel, using their polluted water, under the most filthy conditions. We were going to pay dearly for our mistake!
Our next stop was Singapore, This was a much nicer place. and we were given a good meal and settled in to catch some much needed sleep.
I began to feel ill. I was doubled up with massive stomach cramps. I managed to dress myself and headed for the doctors surgery, but collapsed before I got there, and ended up being stretchered in to the examination room. Gordon, my corparal friend was also there, and we found ourselves being admitted to the wards of the Isolation Hospital. !
more anon.

i'll slowly but surely
die out...
i'll just succumb to
the fatal
morality of what churns out
the accessible public
in numbers not worth counting
but worth recognising as
seagull or crow,
because they
always were people who spoke
of eternity, but who never made
me feel like i ever belonged or
ever wanted to have that experience;
because, honestly? i
never inquired into wanting one.
what a load of ********
it was to begin with in the first place...
no wonder if was a wholly fist-against-fist affair,

no? pucker the ginger

question is... which is worse; some say the former
is worse than the latter... but i beg to differ.

Confessions of a terrorist.
Possessed by the devil,
I strode out to do evil,
With enmity written large on my face,
Somebody has to be clad in deaths embrace.
Just yesterday a child became an orphan.
And a couple were worried by the ransoms burden.
The fetters of depression behold the city,
Where everyday criminals like me enter captivity.
Karachi, Karachi of yore
Shall not surface, will not surface
Whilst I trigger my double barrel bore.
