"instilled" poems
I am lost in my own germination. I miss the innocence of adolescence, I miss the days of being a seed. Nostalgia stemming from maltreatment, roots of disdain running deeper and deeper as they absorb the negativity of my surroundings. The sadistic nature of being has instilled terror in my heart, a terror of the future— for I’m not ready for my contempt of existence to flower. I preferred being a seed. As I blossom, I grow consumed by feelings of self-doubt, tears falling, like petals in the springtime, Will I survive the winter? I preferred being a seed. The strong winds of life rip me up by the roots. I am slowly wilting and withering away as days pass, unaware of when I will be trampled underfoot. I remember the days of being a seed. For remaining a seed would have been easier than blossoming in a world slowly and aggressively plucking my petals. I am nearly barren.

In my mind, There lives two wolves. Two distinct voices. Each telling me to make different choices. How am I supposed to know which one to pick? Quite honestly, the stress of it all is making me sick. Is the right answer instilled in us? In our heart and in our brain? Or maybe two voices is all it will take to drive someone like me insane.

Insanity
Blood is thicker than water as youth we were told, But families are divided and their veins run so cold. Funerals seem to be the only time they gather or talk, Hard times are the only time on your door they knock. From birth was taught family values and love implanted, Feeling alone, unappreciated, and so taken for granted. Could it possibly be they are feeling the same as me, A visit, phone call, or text message could be the key. They say I love you and to please call if ever in need, Love from family is what my heart desires indeed. Oh, how I miss my grandma cooking in the kitchen, Always a blessing to gather and see everyone pitch in. We shamefully have not carried on the traditions, Of our loved ones gone before us full of ambitions. Pride was instilled to honor thy father and mother, To stand behind and support your sister and brother. Neighbors and strangers did our family they make part, Love not based on material things but from a true heart. So get off your high horse and get over your ego trip, It is time to pull together and bring back the kinship. Love to you all and may you pick up the phone, Don’t wait, they can not answer once ashes and bone. VLK

Blood is Thicker Than Water
I could tell you more about the hurt inflicted into us by what we thought was love and to find it be an inevitable pain followed by tears that flow off the face and the guilt that maybe it was out fault. we NEVER get the love we deserve, manipulated and programmed the generational stigma to love one more than yourself and unfulfilling what we as the human race should've been instilled with was self love. too busy lost in the social media haze of losing yourself into everything that we forget to love ourselves forgetting we have to do that before we can truly love any one person.

Do we ever really get the love we deserve?
Consumed by the constant rolls that play Developed so well, recorded so well Chasing the aroma that gently caresses the keys of the grand olfactory organs Sinking into the fibers that catch me when I’m melting They remember the tight grip that I’ve imposed on them The grip imposed on me Yet I want to sift through Entangled by the loose strands I can’t help but to make vulnerable The sway in the tongue that rolls tones so heavy Leaves me tender Such fervor unfolding itself, irritating the chests it lays on Ethanol giving shoves until the words rupture into your gaze Listening for more in hopes the shower could saturate me again Hopeful and tender, I immerse you in ego Later washing away everything that froth before our eyes Then repeating the same intoxicating copulation Until the light breaks through and I’m presented an abbreviated endearment Leaving me instilled until the next time it’s decided times can concur

Situationship or everythingship
Blood red plain of killing fields. Lioness stalks her prey. Tragic zebra separated from the herd. As lady lion quiet as bird. Creeps through concealing long grass. Undergrowth. Undercover. Trying not to rustle. Lioness has savvy. Not Zebra mares' saviour today. No games. She flies. Hear the wildebeest scatter. They know she's there. The birds, made them aware. Assails from the side. One fell swoop and zebra's down. The other quadrupeds return from their scarper and scatter. No fear today. The lioness is fed. She is not greedy. Nature beat her quarry. From the trees emerge her cubs to take their fill. The laws of the wild instilled! By ladylivvi1 © 2013 ladylivvi1 (All rights reserved)

Lioness!
bindi's grace the top of her mocha forehead. wrist draped with bangles.      African soul. style so Afrocentric              afro so black panther fist high in the air she is black pride. she embraces the motherland with open arms and is proud of her heritage. music notes hidden in the blacks of her eye. she is music. hiphop and r&b.; tupac's  lyrics ingraved on her tongue. words of left eye instilled in her brain.               music gives her life. voice of an angel yet  she stays mute. black ink at her fingertips and a notebook always at her side. she is a lyrisit. she is sassy. press the wrong button and she's gone for a moment but will soon comeback to earth. a beautiful quiet vibrant soul she is indeed.  stubborn and mean at times but still as sweet as the refreshing taste of lemonade on a hot summers day. she is Africa. she is India. she is Haiti. she is black pride. she is music. she is poetry. she is wonderful. she is comical. she is lovely. she is classy. she is my big sister.                                     O.Rob.

Today is the anniversary of another trip around the sun for the woman I love more than any other. Happy Birthday to my mother, Elise who drew me a picture of the female reproductive system and labeled the parts and explained the process of ************ before my body ever had a chance to frighten me who taught me the word ****** and taught me that there was nothing silly, or shameful, or icky about the word or having one. who taught me that people are inherently the same and humans are valuable and the meaning of the word humanity and the value of justice and the meaning of the word "injustice" and consistently confronted it often uncomfortably but un-apologetically whenever we found ourselves in its presence Who responded to compliments about my appearance as a child with humble disinterested grace and taught me with intention in everything she said and did that what is valuable about me is my mind and my heart kindness spirit ethics righteousness some may say too much of the latter who taught me about Janis, and Sylvia, and Frida and Roe v Wade and punctuation and articulation and diction and the Serenity Prayer, and that Galway Kinnel poem about what is still possible... I love you Mom. I could go on forever. My love and my gratitude for you - and what you have gifted and instilled in me - is bigger than the universe and eternity and possibility. So glad you are with the sweetest child in the whole wide world this evening. Loving and sending you love and bright light so hard. Micah Haverly  2015

Just because it's suggested doesn't make it right. In the hands of teachers, other staff. What other purpose could this directly serve. To defend our institutions. To further endanger those around. The knowledge instilled from book to teacher a different practice. Now holstered, hidden in the drawer of a desk. What goes through the mind of the victim that's been bullied. What training can be set in place to stop the next bulletin. Shooting across the screen. The kid in 10th grade that carries the weight of the world. Sitting all day staring out the window. Mother in hospice. A fragile thought swallowed by deafening silence. It no longer becomes a listening session of encouragement. The after school sessions of comfort sped up. Another bulletin of hysteria fired across the screen. Teacher student affair. 15 year old student found with 42 year old man. When in reality she was seeking help due to a troubled home. Afraid to sleep knowing the door would creep open. Leaving her terrified to close her eyes. The relationship between step daughter and father without boundary. Where's the specialty training for those who care. The proper resources that extend beyond that of a pamphlet. The dark skin kids that's made fun of because they look different. Stereotyped as aggressive. The dope boys, the baby mamas. The light skin girl that's made to feel inferior because she turns red with every hit. Her hair is longer than theirs so she wants to cut it. Aggressively forgetting all the beauty she possesses. The active shooter managing to make it pass the metal detectors. Rallying the attention he didn't get at home. The debate carries on across every wall except the right ones

Mitakuyapi, My name is Standing Elk of the Yankton Sioux Reservation. This is my formal apology to all The Elders of Turtle Island. I accept full responsibility for my words and actions in the future concerning the Spiritual Knowledge we are about to share with the People of the Americas and the World. My actions and words are none other than my own based upon the Spiritual Teachings of the Tunjkaśila and the Spiritual Knowledge of the Star Nations. If any Elder of the Red Nation feels that I am wrong in my actions or in any verbal statement, feel free to correct me according to the Laws of the Kit Fox Society that we spiritual human beings have chosen to live by. "If it be necessary to punish a child, do so in such a way that will improve his spirit or mind, but do not lay a hand on him for you may damage the possession of the Great Spirit, His gift of life to you." As a Red Nation we have lived through dreams and vision of our Spiritual Tunjkaśila, and we have chosen not to stray beyond our limits of the power of our spirit. My personal dream has directed me to contact certain Ikċé Wiċaśa to greatly increase the spiritual awareness that is to be shared with our Brothers and Sisters of the Four Directions. Through my personal contacts, I know some medicine men have agreed 'it is time' because of the closeness of the fullfillment of the prophecies that are vital for our existence as a human race. This sharing of dreams and vision of the Tunjkaśila will strengthen the Foundation of Nations that are sincerely interested in being that element that will be the foundation of the "Thousand Years of Peace." My hand is open to all those Elders of Turtle Island who wish to share their message, dream and vision with the People of the World; for, I cannot do it alone. Through our teachings, we know that not one individual holds the Knowledge and Mysteries of Life. We were all given a piece of the puzzle. We are all a part of The Sacred Hoop that needs to be mended, and we must make a humble effort in this task if the Seventh Generation, our grandchildren and unborn, are to survive this next awareness. My life was molded around the teachings of the Tunjkaśila that they instilled in our spirit as children. My spirit has directed me in this effort to help our Brothers and Sisters of the Four Directions. I have already chosen not to fail the Tunjkaśila. *Mitakuyé Oyasiŋ Héhaka Inaziŋ*, Standing Elk Ihuŋktoŋwaŋ Oyaté (Dakota Nation) February 1996

Wondrous Love (Haikus)
For you have betrayed The Dark Angel. I was bound to have loved you. Your words invite me, Unite me, And still betray me. Is this how you repay me! Say you will stay with Me until death, Just one life time. Your voice calls to me, Unites us within my dreams, But you have drawn back Within fear. In all my fantasies I have always knew, The angel above was you. Your power grows very strong Over me infusing me with desire. The desire to love, To love the angel. With this fallacy instilled Within my dreams you Still betrayed me, my angel. Why my angel, Why is it that You have betrayed me. I the dark angel had needed you, You the angel of the night. You shall curse the day you Betrayed the dark angel. To many years fighting Back the tears, And now my blood, Nears to an end. You my angel shall Turn to meet your fate. The time is too late, There is no debate, No way to change your fate.

Love the Angel
The moon is full tonight. I can feel it's pull. The cat stares at me. Her eyes seem to suggest she knows what is on my mind. As I gaze up into the mysterious sky, The familiar taste of salt trickles into the corners of my lips. I can feel a tug of my emotions, Like the moon somehow has a role in the pull of my interstitial fluid. It is basically sea water, Right? The black cat loiters a certain superstition within. Fear becomes instilled as she stares into my soul with her all knowing glare. "Blame it on the moon, blame it on the moon. Tides come and go, so this shall too" I strive to find the comfort this world has to offer me Some say it comes from within, this I am not sure of. The thoughts linger. The cat knows, I know she knows. What does she make of me in this incapacitated state? I taste the salt. It is drawn out by the moon. That is what I tell myself. Deep down I know the salt is due to the overwhelming grief I try to deny. And the cat is merely the internalized self stigma eating away at my self esteem and efficacy.

Moon drawn tear
Taste buds engraved on my tongue feel emotions of salty, sweet, bitter entities the heart instilled in my body taste flavors of aggravation, happiness, and sorrow. Bittersweet is not just a combination of flavors, reserved only for taste buds. It somehow has explored into the world of the soul, Because emotions are twisted in a circle, that only a true oxymoron, like bittersweet can fulfill it's complication. Bittersweet has diffused into much more something that can't be described by other emotions, but rather than a description of situations, like a good cry or a good pain. and don't think I'm completely insane, but for the longest time bittersweet has been the epitome of what's left of my sanity.

Massive mountains tower above reaching to the sky Overwhelming sense of smallness in the whole big scheme of things Unfathomable is our own beating heart's desires Natural beauty present in these majestic peaks Tranquility on mountain-tops Awe instilled by these terrible towers Inspiring me to write a little rhyme Nighttime when everything dies for a while Simplicity is all around with fields of cotton above Kindling the flame of imagination Youthful do the skies make me feel Window into the world as the eyes are to the soul Amazing it truly is to see such potential Turbulent waters in the water and in the soul Electrified am I and alive I feel as I watch Reflection upon this scene says natural beauty.

Mountain Sky Water
The state of being with no suffering is Shakti The state of awakening beyond sleep is Shakti When love matures and sweetens that is Shakti The fullness and fulfillment of masculine is Shakti When the sweetness matures that is Shakti The divine which resides in the thoughts is Shakti Whatever work comes before us is Shakti The state of mukti, the end, is Shakti The braveness which destroys laziness is Shakti The flame which is instilled in these words is Shakti When the best of fruits are eaten that taste is Shakti When thoughts of divine arise that is Shakti Shankara who lives on top of the huge mountains, his lovely flame is Shakti The lap where life flourishes is Shakti The strength which guards the earth is Shakti The flame which stops one from falling is Shakti (denotes inner strength that averts fall/defeat) The tapas that eliminates confusion is Shakti The finger which stops downfall is Shakti The one who spans the whole expanse of sky is Shakti Her highness who eliminates karma is Shakti The inner flame which shines from within the heart is Shakti

Divine power
The heat and oxygen course through your lungs like a temporary flame One sweet dull second of numbness All they can see is an empty vessel; an unstained body, with from the looks of it, not a care in the world But they are simply decomposing from the inside out No doubt, they will be a platform of overt despair by the end of the night The sight will give a writer something to write about, an empath something to cry about, and a lover something to worry about Destruction is infused in every cell of their body When it comes down to choice, there is not one It feels to them as if the days inevitably, and relentlessly, cease to end in the immense amount of pain instilled in every ounce of their being Dreading tomorrow as if it's a terminal sickness Once you have lost hope, it seems there is no fire left to burn The time that they have left in the world will be filled with cheap cigarettes, Irish car bombs, and lifeless friends Closely comparable to a dying tree; close to expired, and still so beautiful

Isolation
In freedom’s blessed glorified sky through streaks of immortal gold his visage we behold He looks upon the fields of liberty that he and the founding fathers sowed he sees the Richness America has become he also beheld her struggles catastrophic wars abroad And the most painful the one that divided the nation marred it with southern and northern Blood saw the affable the sad giant Lincoln take the reins of discontent hold them by Shear will and with uncommon sagacity guided it back in line to fulfill its destiny as the Powerful fount that would always pour forth waters of freedom for all of earths peoples Total unconditional acceptance of liberty and all the fruit it bears to establish a Government like no other this golden grain has waved under bluest skies and brightest Sun light its rich harvest has gone to darkest prison cells Mandela was sustained by it For twenty nine years and by its moral purity it fed the lives of those that over threw Apartied and Mandela finally freed by principals it avows rose from prison clothes To wear the mantle of president of his country and the honor of the man instilled Quality that transcended political office Jefferson not to be disrespectful to his progeny Whispers today’s politicians could do well to look on this African model of good Stewardship of public trust with that Jefferson faded back into the mist pray that’s Not the fate of this country

Streaks of Jefferson
I've danced with the devil Spoken to him in tongue, Fought him and won. But he rose again Threw me down and held me Arms pinned above my head Legs risen onto his shoulders. He slowly pressed himself into me Touched my lips with the slightest touch of his Gave me his disease I have the devil in me. He whispered to me, "You want it Young One, Yet you cannot have it…" I clenched and bent my back. The Devil still had me in his grasp. He touched me. I felt the shiver engulf me, The touch of sin, The touch of pain. Hands fought with each other As he tried to make his way Into my most precious, Most precious…private secrets. I refused to let him. I tried to stop him. But he is gifted at this cruel game, He enjoys so much to play. He danced with me, In a trance of spins and dips, I fall all over again. His powers are wondrous, My power is weak. For I am just a helpless child This beast wants to draw in One that it can intertwine with itself And destroy bit by bit. Secrets shared and lies told, Honesty surrounds us... My words were bold. "I love you" The devil was silent. He knew all along… The path he has driven me on Has led me into insanity Hold me Satan Please me Satan Satan... Tell me you love me. Wrap me in your arms and kiss me. Hold my hand and whisper to me That you were once small and weak, That I remind you of yourself You felt that pain, You have those scars, Yet you stopped... Satan, you miss it don't you? He is the devil in disguise. He is beautiful to the eye, Yet to the human soul He is torturous. Devours you… Leaving you frozen and stuck. What to do now my dear devil? Come with me. Massage my sore limbs. Touch me everywhere As I lay here wearing nothing but my underwear. I feel your breath by my ear As you tell me Goodnight stories About a brave knight who loves his ale Sing me that Spanish lullaby. "Mujer," You speak my language. You know my tongue. As I do yours. Play that role of the hero, Take me away Down into the loud subways Tell me I am yours. Tell me I am beautiful. I'm a fool for you And a fool for lust. Satan dear Satan... Release me from your dungeons They are tearing me apart. The pain you left behind Has instilled in me now. You say your smile is fake... My tears are not. My kingdom is a place of bliss. Your kingdom is a place of tragedy. Satan dear Satan... Take me away. May your devilish Charm, Allow us to fly away. We will dream of happiness Wake up next to each other And look at what we've become. Satan You are my Savior. In the name of the Devil, Il Diavolo, y el Diablo... Amen.

My love for you was holy and like a new dawn pure. Like a green leaf on the vine, promising to grow secure. My love for you was instilled by God to carry you on the hands of His providence certain and strong and sure.
