"herne" poems
Musky body, amber eyes, coat of red.
Smokey breath that hangs in the morning air.
A full spread of antlers on a glorious head.
He is the child of herne the lord of the wild hunt.
King of the woods is this stag his roar echoes off the trees, it rings in the air.
A challenge to all who enter his domain.
He owns his space, he stakes his claim there in the ragged wood.

The ****** for any Allotment holder
is harvesting Pumpkins with foliage,
for October, with the clocks back
they'll relish digging over the ground
looking forward to another year.
Meanwhile the Farmers markets at Herne Hill and Dulwich
will set our retro chic spiraling,
a half loaf of brioche and a Mrouzia Tajine purchased
amidst the newly penny conscious
"adequate provision" becomes our norm.

Give yourself extra time travelling
via Herne Hill,
at a whisper
her suede boots looked like trouble
an air of independence,
having already bad mouthed Sarah's Facebook,
thats not ingenuity
more dangerous double talk,
suppose you thought of a fuse
not wrong there.
He is nearby, evidently
reading the "Great Gatsby"
on the floor,
not clean!
intrepreting every word,
a bit like a typo
he secretly wishes her good luck
having already progressed to
"who does she think she is"?

With bags on the trains spare seat
some have lost their decorum
the snobs have moved to Herne Hill
the way they think they are the movers and shakers
makes dopes of us to believe
that class leads by distinction
or Isas solves their children's trust,
their culpable four by fours
shows impolite roadside manners
on the Dulwich school run.

Old Herne aromping in the wilds
Perchance exceeds his bound
And in a garden verdant
His hoof'ed feet were found
The careful rows of hellebore
The finely tilled red earth
The bursting bulbs of amaryllis
Enjoying their rebirth
All seemed queer to Herne the Hart
With moss and ivy twined
His ancient heart and wild blue eyes
No sense in this can find
And I realise now
There's no place for this wildness of mine
In your cultivated calm

Illy cofffee served down herne hill market
the staff this week seemed different.
Pullens restaurant stripped
to be refurbished,
the mandatory space optimiser
a flat at the back.
We read the planning permission notice
and realise space is a premium
Meanwhile people are so incidental.

Another sting
on the beach at Herne Bay –
I put my head between my knees
and let the **** bite roll through me,
and when I look up
I can't tell whether the
tide is going out
or coming in –
you didn't do it on purpose,
of course.
As I walk
towards the vanishing point,
a white pebble
with black veins
catches my eye.
I hold it gently, like an egg,
a dragon's egg
you said –
admiring it and planning
to slip it into my tote.
But in the revolution of a moment
I turn on my heel and,
crushing the stone against my palm,
I fill it with what you said
and hurl it into the water.
And then I feel better.

First time Again
Your walking towards me, back into my life suddenly.
A feeling comes back from years before, but your smile puts me right and the feeling; no more.
We get to each other with pace, leap into a long awaited warm embrace.
There's an instant spark when we touch, we fall apart I remember I missed you so much.
As we walk to the van I still can't quite grasp,
The fact your right here (nervous) but with me at last.
We get in the van and gaze at one another,
Recovering old memories and excited to see what we can rediscover.
Now we spend our time promising and flattering, urging assurance were both serious but still we're battling.
To sum it all up life is risky, knowing its take it or leave it just gets tricky.
But know this I'm here to stay,
Your making life amazing and better each day.
Your not sure I can see why, I will always hold you with regards which are above sky high.
I'll show you all I ever wanted is to be by your side,
Just sharing good times and a long loving roller coaster life ride.
