Terror in a puzzle piece
You infatuate me with your views Your body sings Trap Queen but your heart's in love with the Blues That's cool. I got an indigo soul too Lets connect like constellations As I'm constantly relating you to Roman Goddesses and Egyptian Queens You're more beautiful than Aphrodite and Cleopatra You mentally surpass all your peers But obtuse thinkers still come at yuh Forgive them. They know not who they size They see your full lips and your thick thighs Worshiping physical features so your face is often forgotten They don't notice you got three eyes Your Melanin Was Way Too Poppin

Melanin Popping
It's in moments like these where the universe is revealed I find myself wandering the infinite land searching for a lover and a friend The moments of peace where freedom is revealed tales of Gods and Goddesses New music my last hope my first trip away from home I am me ! can't you see? i'm real not a normal human i'm just meat Why am i here? dazed chasing desires and dreams i could shake the ground beneath your feet but things don't look always as they seem Lets sail this ship to escape our past Sins that killed the innocence while the demons laughed It's in moments like these i fly high and dance with the stars where i'm back to the womb but for others it's just the tomb.. Words Of Harfouchism.

The Womb
gods and goddesses stilled mid-flight, immortalized in a glory fast fading. distilled sunlight filtering through, unheeded, as a devastating dawn for redemption awakens.      _dust scattering over marble hands, forever supple,_ as angels fall from grace, wings clipped and torn asunder. the sigh of a thousand lost souls, searching; the thunder of a thousand chariots, unbridled.      _a wing outstretched, a bow pulled taught;_ drawn, not fired. frozen heroes lifting voices unheard;      _the calm before a storm, a fight unforeseen,_ silver linings beckoning victories of heaven's epics left unsung. look up into the clouds and you'll see a history unwritten, for they speak to you in murals of smeared colors and pure light. but hush! sweet child, off you drift into an insincere sleep, until these stories buried beneath your lips,      singed, searing, burning away memories of the battles that    linger ,over your tongue  , are no more than a shadow of a flame.    and as his lashes flutter closed over blue eyes    and his heavy golden curls fall on white sheets    she whispers,         _the renaissance was not painted for you._

She swept down from the heavens To find me Then eyed me Lashes long and eyes longing She kissed like a Goddess If Goddesses have Long purple tongues And swept me off of my feet I almost fell for her then But I could tell It wasn't her First time And she had Other men

You are the definition of **** **** and cool lady That’s you. A nameless Goddess that sashayed into my circle To stay only for a minute and vex my feelings Then disappear as swiftly as you came. You must have been blown by the breath of beauty And modeled your movements after the Goddess of seduction How else could a mere mortal achieve such poetry in motion? Such fluidity of grace is only found in the movements of oceans, And Goddesses of seduction How can a mere mortal kick it to a Goddess? Words seem so trivial, And my voice so inconsequential For you I would have to speak with the voice of thunder, And allow lightning to spell out my passions for you in midnight skies. Allow natures songbirds to sing my odes to your beauty. And a valley of Jasmine’s to intoxicate you with their fragrance. For a Goddess Such things as mundane chariot rides through man made streets will never suffice. For you I would capture a Phoenix, That it may take you to the ends of the world, And speak to you of things deep within my heart that my mortal tongue knows not the language of. To kiss you with my mortal lips would result in spontaneous combustion, And although I could embrace this fate For such a taste, Goddess I want to kiss you for eternity So I would call on the rising and setting of the sun for the rest of my life to do this honor. If love is jewel, Mine is the largest- Most magnificent- Ever fashioned by the human heart, And in my mortality it is my greatest possession. To you Goddess I offer my heart.

Hymn to Aphrodite by Sappho loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Burch Immortal Aphrodite, throned in splendor! Wile-weaving daughter of Zeus, enchantress, and beguiler! I implore you, dread mistress, discipline me no longer with love's anguish! But come to me once again in kindness, heeding my prayers as you have done before; O, come Divine One, descend once again from heaven's golden dominions! Your chariot yoked to love's consecrated doves, their multitudinous pinions aflutter, you once came gliding from the utmost heights, to the dark-bosomed earth. Swiftly they came and vanished, leaving you, O my Goddess, smiling, your face eternally beautiful, asking me what unfathomable longing compelled me to cry out. Asking me what I sought in my hopeless, bewildered desire. Asking, "Who has harmed you, why are you so alarmed, my poor Sappho? Whom should Persuasion summon here?" "Though today she flees love, soon she will pursue you; spurning love's gifts, soon she shall return them; tomorrow she will woo you, however unwillingly!" Come to me now, most Holy Aphrodite! Release me from my heavy heartache and anguish; grant me all I request, be once again my ally and protector! "Hymn to Aphrodite" is the only poem by Sappho of ****** to survive in its entirety. The poem survived intact because it was quoted in full by Dionysus, a Roman orator, in his "On Literary Composition," published around 30 B.C. A number of Sappho's poems mention or are addressed to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love. It is believed that Sappho may have belonged to a cult that worshiped Aphrodite with songs and poetry. If so, "Hymn to Aphrodite" may have been composed for performance within the cult. We do know that Sappho was held in very high regard. For instance, when Sappho visited Syracuse the residents were so honored they erected a statue to commemorate the occasion! During Sappho's lifetime, coins of ****** were minted with her image. Furthermore, Sappho was called "the Tenth Muse" and the other nine were goddesses. Her eyes so bright; Do you ever wonder where the sun goes at night? The rain, dancing on the pavement in no specific arrangement. Luminous flames eat away at sharp skewers, Her eyes silver-grey, clashing with the tables of steel. Barbecue roasting, impaled through the middle The pain paled in comparison to watching you smile. A toast to me, myself and I, a glass of sweet solitude. I watch tall wine glasses clang drunkenly together, alone. A pin drops in the distance; no silence to accompany it. Unnoticed it goes, by the arrogant lords and goddesses. Pick a flower, compliment her hair; devil may care. She's walking away, I tell her 'Ma'am, have a nice day' Left alone to stumble back home, sipping champagne royally; Mockery. Spilling champagne and it swirls down the drain I tilt my head back, laughing carelessly all the way.

I've walked the beaten path Sinned in the ways of every religion But the only salvation I'm looking for Is in the smiles I'm able to place on your face So when you read my text Listen to the way I'm telling you I like you Listen to the message in the complex smiles The kissy faces That seem to be endless You can't call this puppy love This is the way you were meant to be loved So baby let me make you happy I'm not asking for the physicality of a relationship I'm asking to put this band on your finger Look in the mirror See my complete reflection Because this mirror is your eyes Baby let me make happy There's nothing I'd rather do Honestly you're on my mind I've only talked to you on occasion I don't don't want to send coded messages In the texts that make you smile and want me I want to tell you straight up Baby I like you I'm not innocent I'm not expecting you to be I'm just asking you to be mine Let me make you happy the only way I know Let me be the sculptor Plaster smiles on your frowning face Strip the clothes from your mannequin figure Let me make you happy In and out of the bed I'm only asking for a chance Baby let me make you happy I promise you'll never be alone Even if I'm seventeen hours away My heart is in the pillow you hold tight My cologne is in the sheets you wrap yourself in You can even wear my clothes Go insane and let me walk in On you making out with a pillow dressed like me I'll smile and I promise I'll love you the way that pillow never could Let me make you happy The way the other guys failed to When they ******* up the chance you blessed them with I promise baby I'll never hurt you My shoes are in the closet They're not going anywhere My suitcases are unpacked and laying in the dump Three states away The distance you wanted in the first place Between me and my second love You know I had a tendency of packing up Leaving in the middle of the night When your slumbering hand wandered on my side of the bed Looking for the warmth of my skin But Baby I promise my walking days are over My running shoes are too old They don't fit anymore Let me make you happy the way you deserve I understand if you don't want to do it I'm not going to cliche it up I'm not going to beg I'm just going to tell you I like you Ask you for only one thing in this relationship Let me make you happy It's not much but let me make it my sole purpose in life I don't need a god or gods and goddesses All I need is the heart in your chest To be my altar To be where I tithe my sins away To give praise to the heart that saved me Let me make you happy I'm not a complete ****** like the rest of them

She was probably the most beautiful, of any woman he had ever seen. She turned every head and stopped time from moving and movement everywhere she went- His mind went woozy as he thought of her. From what he already knew she was not only beautiful, she was smart and an accomplished professional. Was this a sweet dream? If yes, he wasn't prepared to wake up from it, no not yet! Maybe she was just a product of his imagination, which was impossible considering that she was standing before him. She was a woman of exceptional beauty, probably the most beautiful woman he had ever seen! Helping her to her seat, he was overpowered by something. Wait,it was the scent of her perfume; It was the mixture of something he wanted to think he recognized, which he didn't and something he had never before smelled. It was nice! She seemed so flawless, He thought her bath was prepared in the constellations by beautiful goddesses, and her bathroom was the milky way galaxy. Yes her skin was undeniably radiant, accentuated by the presence of large almond eyes. "Wake up!" came the weak old voice. Bewildered by the old barn keeper's presence, and momentarily unaware of his location, he panicked and squinted his eyes. Oh **** he was asleep, this was a dream! IB-Poetry©️ 3/2/2018

XXVI. TO DIONYSUS (13 lines) (ll. 1-9) I begin to sing of ivy-crowned Dionysus, the loud- crying god, splendid son of Zeus and glorious Semele. The rich- haired Nymphs received him in their bosoms from the lord his father and fostered and nurtured him carefully in the dells of Nysa, where by the will of his father he grew up in a sweet- smelling cave, being reckoned among the immortals. But when the goddesses had brought him up, a god oft hymned, then began he to wander continually through the woody coombes, thickly wreathed with ivy and laurel. And the Nymphs followed in his train with him for their leader; and the boundless forest was filled with their outcry. (ll. 10-13) And so hail to you, Dionysus, god of abundant clusters! Grant that we may come again rejoicing to this season, and from that season onwards for many a year.

sappho greets her as she would a reflection: hand against hand, staring into her eyes. silence dancing around them as a long-lost love- r. enheduanna sighs at the contact and the quiet shifts as her fingers close: as there is no need for language when her inanna will grant them a holy diadem. ----- eternity reeks of nights out on the lawn daisies growing with the weeds pillowing beneath the two dwindling women - hands clasped tightly, their eyes closed. ...lapis blooming within the petals of the undergrowth... gods slumber amongst worthy poets occluding, heart-soothing each other without words or sonnets or divination. sappho dared to look out from heavy-lidded lethargy, for she was yearning: at dawn ...her honeyvoiced,     mythweaving     enheduanna:     a sweet-shelter     of temptation     and goddesses     who wage     tender war and     drink from pools     of sun... at dawn the ancient divine poet gazes again and sappho forgets she too is nearly as old for her lover wears an invisible golden- crowned circlet of springtime and illuminated lands. but she can hardly think anymore, when the songsmith of glory and prayer is kissing her. laying in the basin of heaven and skies she pours restless eternity down her throat. ---- lapis melts to pink clovers of fowlerite no mortals notice two bodies blending between poems rustling tunics maidens casting away their   fruitful sobriety. ---- poet dreams a woman of verse. hardly expecting shallow-breathed kisses of burning solstice and unrequited love.

I find myself diving inside of you where the weird dream shamans draw sketches of naked humans. And you’re a human, and we're both naked. You’re purple, you’re just the perfect shade. I place my flag inside, to abscond us away inside of a womb where our world will open to portals to all of our favorite places. A floating haven, of cashmere. Gestating where the climate is warm and damp, and coloring me dark with wine—sweet wine of lovers, penal forgotten, and fermented anew in maternal rite, because… This swarming melodic nectar that swims through my nostrils and rolls in my eyes cannot be drank casually. It’s the elixir of love. I love you, And in you, I find that I love myself. What’s more, the shamanists exclaim, “She wants to give you all of herself.” Yes, they’re right. Even what I do not love so much, I want you to have, if you’ll take it, because I have to live with it, and if you live with me, you’ll have to live with it too. And then, when you crack open your sternum to let the things in, the scribes of my life’s doing, of ancient passion proclaim! They burn their papyrus scrolls soaked in the blood that I drew from my veins to pass unto yours— and you swallow them whole like divine burritos. And then we are ready for the world to fall suddenly, if it felt so inclined. Now that our chests are pressed together, and our tongues are fused tight. We are the daughters of the prima mother. We are the goddesses of our dreams.

The Orions and The Witch
IX. TO ARTEMIS (9 lines) (ll. 1-6) Muse, sing of Artemis, sister of the Far-shooter, the ****** who delights in arrows, who was fostered with Apollo. She waters her horses from Meles deep in reeds, and swiftly drives her all-golden chariot through Smyrna to vine-clad Claros where Apollo, god of the silver bow, sits waiting for the far-shooting goddess who delights in arrows. (ll. 7-9) And so hail to you, Artemis, in my song and to all goddesses as well. Of you first I sing and with you I begin; now that I have begun with you, I will turn to another song.

The Homeric Hymns: 9- To Artemis
Hymn to Aphrodite by Sappho (her only complete poem) loose translation/interpretation by Michael R. Your chariot yoked to love's consecrated doves, their multitudinous pinions aflutter, you once came gliding from the utmost heights, to this dark earth. Whom should Persuasion summon here?" "Though today she flees love, soon she will pursue you; spurning love's gifts, she soon shall return them; tomorrow she will woo you, however unwillingly!" Come to me now, most Holy Aphrodite! Furthermore, Sappho was called "the Tenth Muse" and the other nine were goddesses. without the memories of playgrounds-- the smell of too many American Spirits (andsometimesnewportmentholswhentimesgottough) the taste of chocolate wine the cold of holy river water the sting of heartache and hangovers and broken toes the glow of midnight fires built too high with entire trees the feel of tears on my sun-scorched collarbones the sound of e.e. cummings and the poems from our adolescence being read over baking bread at three in the morning rushing back to me. i still remember our fears of shadow people and the too loud screams of *** rock over men(i should say boys) who we centered our summer around when we weren't busy being goddesses. & there isn't a day i don't see a swing set or hear the beginnings of Johnny Cash song when i do not think of you and hope that the world will not change you that the world will not change me and we will one day have a practical magic houses and hostas that i glare at while i make tea in the mornings.

goddesses on earth
you began a man in your uniform uniformly lined in manhood but unmanned in your last line of defense the soldier, bleeding in his solidarity. his head held down by the weight of his thoughts and his heart held high by his idealism in this century, he bleeds for your sins and you, bleeding for the sinners. bleeding for the sinners. bleeding from the cinders; burning holes in your flesh from the fire you'd put out in a last-ditch effort to save the "smokey the bear" imagery from your childhood. didn't you know it'd burn down too as you dreamt of being an adult in this distant, futuristic adulthood where you'd be bleeding out again. not forming in singular lines not forming anything but time in the singular exsanguination of a generation; they're bleeding for your singing. bled out and torn about, they die. dreaded and thrown about in the last ditch efforts of life, they cry out again to the demi-gods and goddesses they believed in for your sins. they bleed. Purely.
