aviary for a front yard
countless cardinals sparrows jays
            throughout the entire day
back and forth to and from
they dart
to see it is a work of art
this tree and then the next
has me in awe
            from the start
the fierce faint and flick
no tale, no trick
just look up
            real quick
or you'll miss it all
this mad melodic pinball
this verdant ariose device
            there is also a hawk
his game is more precise
punctual predatory
            steadily soaring
keeping his eyes peeled
for his next gory meal
any stray 'munk, mouse, or rat
that does not smell a trap
grabbed
with evil ease
then its off
            into the trees
i might need to respect
my front yard aviary

Dahlias, little blue fence, the sweet breeze; long grass in the frontyard.
Kisses with intent lips, September; lemon-poppyseed cake.
The big moon.
Dogs howling, a scratch from a bramble on my wrist.
10pm and the rainfall.
9am and a rainbow arcs over our house which resembles a doll house.
Who is the antagonist in this mess of a story?
...
Burning love-notes in the kitchen,
The coffee tastes wrong, WE used to share it.
You take the puppy and leave only flower-petals in the sink as proof you were ever here.
Cigarettes and nightwalks, dawn; waking in the backseat of my car and hangovers hanging over.
Goodbye dahlias and house with little blue fence,
Bye comfort.
The world is a newborn.
I am at my beginning too and I take a breath....

lake glass-still/somewhere a loon is calling;
coffee smells spiralling upstairs.
my bed (piled mattresses/wood floor)
is warm & the little birds
trill in the frontyard by the dodge
while in the woods
foxes/are wakin' up.

[dock beers] . . .
on the water
shadflies squirm,
ignorant & simple & doomed.
jackfish tack lazily up and gobble
--taking their meals.
heron stands in the shallows
and from downlake the wind blows
sweetly/and in my head
i hear girls singing.
snow lake is a lonely place to think of girls/but you learn to keep busy (open your eyes)
I had to keep back tears
when I discovered
that the plant
which I had nourished over years
      first in a ***
then in the tiny frontyard garden
where it had   after a while
found its space amid the dominance
     of  honeysuckle & the bougainvilleas
had simply been cut off at the stem
by the guy I had paid to clip the hedge

which he actually butchered to a degree
that it looked like shrubs by the trenches of World War I
devastated by artillery, grenades, and machine guns

I think I will not ask
for his services any more

A house painted in white, the colour of peace
Autumn covers its frontyard in leaves
The masses gather and scream
A crackling voice betrays seething beliefs.

It's a lie waiting to be sold to the highest bidder
Honey, everything will get better if we add some glitter
Warning signs covered with election posters
A popularity contest, let's introduce the imposters.

I'm a special kind of candidate
For decades, I've endured all your hate
And those you despise, I know them all by name
But will they ever listen to what I'm saying?

I'm a self-made man just taking care of business
And since I've made it, every day is Christmas
Push their bodies off the pier, this is just a modern witch test
And if the weights make them drown, at least they're gonna ***** less.

This car without breaks is gaining traction
Let's ask the Romans how to stop a chain reaction
Both sides scream
People to the ballots, cast your vote for our very last bastion.
A waste of paper, an American election.

Don't be distracted
Open your eyes
so you can see
the deception of magic
unfold before your eyes
Stay wake now
do not slumber
Stay home and
be alert
Through your window
peep in the dark
to watch this movie
It is about you
About your very life
Five big G
dancing in the air
on your streets.
Disguised as a
mechanic working even
in the rain.
No a technician,
planting his technology
in your frontyard,
no your backyard
unsolicited.
With impunity
they worked tirelessly.
No consent seemed,
that's how cruel
they are.
Robots are better,
they say.
Delibratly introducing
something new.
Artificial intelligence,
the next level.
Covid-19 vaccine,
to help you heal.
But microchip inserted,
unwittingly to monitor
your every move.
Digital certificate,
you must produce,
or no buying and
no selling allowed.
Don't think you
are safe.
To sleep with
a wild lion
or a cobra
is better than
a deluded and
demonic sick lunatic.
Stay awake and
stay home,
be safe but
don't be distracted.
Enjoy the movie.
