"foxglove" poems
The peacock has a score of eyes, With which he cannot see; The cod-fish has a silent sound, However that may be; No dandelions tell the time, Although they turn to clocks; Cat's-cradle does not hold the cat, Nor foxglove fit the fox.

The Peacock
Born to the night in the cry of wolves, We are….inked lovers spilling secrets, under velvet skies, Shrouding the night in silver spools; The season of silver silence, hangs upon shades of silken soul, This midnight offering, a white entice; My hair shimmers brightly, a wet fleece of gold, of shadow and starlight, And shimmering hues, emerald and sapphire breathe kindred embers into the bellows of passion; Challenging the flame that burns; entwined.... Whispered intrigue lays in the crescent of moon, In an eminent blaze of sweetest surrender Unborn whispers lie entwined with heated petals, silken; We shiver....I shiver, I am warm arms embraced; Your lips hard yet soft against my side, The feel of flesh warmed to a rising flame... The long moon steps into midnight; My ******* full of your hands as candles, pour hard against the ebon fall, Luscious to the hush of soft smiles Steeled eloquence flows in ribbon ripples; Winter sown, blood quilled, in midnights cast; Cloaked in beautiful, shadow's bed a bouquet of lacy foxglove... Eyes closed and deep of breath, Moistness seeps the sugared flower, and longing surges deep; Shudder me wicked, drench me quick; The wildness swirls inside as he moves like a shadow over my heart His tongue eager to swim the gushing urge; Touching, slick-slide, the soothe of smooth fingers slip past softness; Lips cross, moist to moan me quick, sliding to quivers. Thigh's whispering and heart pounding , Soft, the wind blows, tapping walls, fingers dancing And shadow sways to moonlight... Velvet-soft, the sweet of tongue's mesh, Fire burning, The tips of breast's aroused by the touch of a slow hand lover; Your tongue gently rolls, wet and burning hot, Hungrily, it feeds diving deep, and sandalwood spires upon the malachite air, And burning murmurs the silent song, pleasures Your flame to touch me hot, softly hard, Against the darting quivering rose, stokes sweet, the flame of conjure.... I weep as you strain to slay this huntress of indolent submission; Descending into darkness, I squirm upon your touch, lifting my altar upon your hunger, Eyes lost to ecstasy, the flow quickens from abyssal moans; Overflowing with need, release bound by gold shattered stars Suckling whispered thoughts; With us, for us, in us, in dreams, in thoughts, in love ....And in....time my love..................

Through the vales to my love! To the happy small nest of home Green from basement to roof; Where the honey-bees come To the window-sill flowers, And dive from above, Safe from the spider that weaves Her warp and her woof In some outermost leaves. Through the vales to my love! In sweet April hours All rainbows and showers, While dove answers dove,-- In beautiful May, When the orchards are tender And frothing with flowers,-- In opulent June, When the wheat stands up slender By sweet-smelling hay, And half the sun's splendour Descends to the moon. Through the vales to my love! Where the turf is so soft to the feet, And the thyme makes it sweet, And the stately foxglove Hangs silent its exquisite bells; And where water wells The greenness grows greener, And bulrushes stand Round a lily to screen her. Nevertheless, if this land, Like a garden to smell and to sight, Were turned to a desert of sand, Stripped bare of delight, All its best gone to worst, For my feet no repose, No water to comfort my thirst, And heaven like a furnace above,-- The desert would be As gushing of waters to me, The wilderness be as a rose, If it led me to thee, O my love!

A Bride Song
Summer struck with the fist of Chicxulub, incinerated spring in a blinding flash. Abruptly the pond on Chehalis Trail was topped with water lilies, where famished families of water fowl had festooned the serenity of the surface; now vanished for cool Canadian climes. Racoon eyes peered in night shade green, Foxglove and California Poppy brushed through blades of overgrown grasses. Crow song battled with Stellar's Jay, the morning's true American Idols. I stirred from slumber to impatient cawing, chiding --- The best of day's awaiting. I was off to savor summer's sugar, lest autumn slip in unannounced on the coats of Quetzalcoatl.

Toltec Solstice
*Hydrangeas and tall boxwood bushes grow on each side of the walkway. Picket fence, greying from need of paint, and Foxglove and Bleeding Hearts thrive in shade. The little breeze shakes the leaves and cause the nodding Roses to sway. In evening when sun begins to set, serene peacefulness comforts my soul like God.* Тадеус

O Solitude! if I must with thee dwell, Let it not be among the jumbled heap Of murky buildings: climb with me the steep,— Nature's observatory—whence the dell, In flowery slopes, its river's crystal swell, May seem a span; let me thy vigils keep 'Mongst boughs pavilioned, where the deer's swift leap Startles the wild bee from the foxglove bell. But though I'll gladly trace these scenes with thee, Yet the sweet converse of an innocent mind, Whose words are images of thoughts refined, Is my soul's pleasure; and it sure must be Almost the highest bliss of human-kind, When to thy haunts two kindred spirits flee.

O Solitude! If I Must With Thee Dwell
There’s a sense of something really good this Christmas, There’s a feeling in the air that it’s OK The anticipation’s there about ….a happiness out there And the weather outlook’s brilliant for the day. Mother’s planning a big roast for Christmas dinner There’ll be sparkles and bright spangles on the tree, Underneath there’s quite a pile, gaily wrapped to bring a smile And a kiss beneath the mistletoe for me? Spare a thought for all poor souls who have nobody Gift-wrap a parcel or two for the disowned, To make some unknown person smile advances Christmas by a mile And really brightens up the prospects for the un-homed. It’s a day to gift good wishes to your loved ones Share some cold beers in the sunshine on the deck, And when we’ve eaten to excess and helped mum clean up the mess There will be time to take a snooze…and what the heck! So to all our friends, across this world, aplenty, May we take this opportunity to say We hope your Christmas be as good as we know it really should And may Santa gift you happiness ….to stay! MERRY CHRISTMAS Love from Janet and Marshal. “Foxglove” Taranaki, New Zealand.

214 I taste a liquor never brewed— From Tankards scooped in Pearl— Not all the Vats upon the Rhine Yield such an Alcohol! Inebriate of Air—am I— And Debauchee of Dew— Reeling—thro endless summer days— From inns of Molten Blue— When “Landlords” turn the drunken Bee Out of the Foxglove’s door— When Butterflies—renounce their “drams”— I shall but drink the more! Till Seraphs swing their snowy Hats— And Saints—to windows run— To see the little Tippler Leaning against the—Sun—

I taste a liquor never brewed
A road of palest lime fluttering Sycamore trees Some almost leafless, others coronets still there Through the golden branches colbalt blue skies Lilac bushes, the garden daisies, flower in rows. Thinning Robinna casts shadows of dim shade Contrasting the red Acer’s lace leaf with green The trunk arch of handkerchief laden Foxglove Holds open its beautiful boughs to be admired. For Autumn spreads my walk in glorious glitter Though the evening pulls in the coldness of year Making the best of these last savages of seasons Gathering leavings, the birdtable spills its seeds. Gatherings.
Greens and gold of lattice work cascading down the tree, This epiphyte, so infinitely, delicately free. A lattice work of green finesse, a miniature Cezanne With exquisiteness of spiky bloom embellishing it’s charm. Cascading down the grizzled trunk of gnarled and twisted hand The hosting ancient Kamahi looms loftily, so grand. Looms aloft with leafy bough so softened by the show Of ruffled, pinkish bottle brush amassing high and low. Hordes of buzzing, bumble bees so clumsy in their way, Tumbling from flower to flower collecting nectar’s day. With afternoon the waning sun lies hot on sultry air And little girls in pretty frocks skip by with not a care. Summer grasses long and dry stand statuesque and straight With sweet laburnum’s perfumed heads a nodding by the gate. Young heifers graze in clover in the dell down by the brook And the fantail dances daintily seeking insects in the nook There’s a special, quiet majesty pervading here, so fair With the thistledown afloat, so still with golden motes in air. Fills my soul with gentle feeling and a rolling tear, unplanned, For this blend of quiet ambivalence through my beauteous rural land. Marshalg “Foxglove” Taranaki. NEW ZEALAND. 19 January 2014

This Blend of Quiet Ambivalence
At the going down of the sun will the world be less complete, the cinched robe of night less intolerable, as she ebbs away on cosmic string, emulating a massless, dazed neutrino blinking in and out of existence, unobserved and uneffected, liquored and unloved? In the wake of a June flowering, when foxglove lures the honeybee in six day flash, bud to corolla, blossom to blossom, parade of stigmas, digitalis stamen braved, anther at his back, the bee comes gathering where none else dare.

Mottlings for the Anonymous
Dip down upon the northern shore O sweet new-year delaying long; Thou doest expectant nature wrong; Delaying long, delay no more. What stays thee from the clouded noons, Thy sweetness from its proper place? Can trouble live with April days, Or sadness in the summer moons? Bring orchis, bring the foxglove spire, The little speed well's darling blue, Deep tulips dash'd with fiery dew, Laburnums, dropping-wells of fire. O thou new-year, delaying long, Delayest the sorrow in my blood, That longs to burst a frozen bud And flood a fresher throat with song.

Nuns fret not at their convent’s narrow room, And hermits are contented with their cells, And students with their pensive citadels; Maids at the wheel, the weaver at his loom, Sit blithe and happy; bees that soar for bloom, High as the highest peak of Furness fells, Will murmur by the hour in foxglove bells: In truth the prison unto which we doom Ourselves no prison is: and hence for me, In sundry moods, ’twas pastime to be bound Within the Sonnet’s scanty plot of ground; Pleased if some souls (for such there needs must be) Who have felt the weight of too much liberty, Should find brief solace there, as I have found.

The Sonnet I
She reminds me of a foxglove Eyes drawn to her like steel to a magnet She reminds me of a foxglove Her sweet perfume an olfactory pleasure She reminds me of a foxglove Tall, slender, beautiful And just as poisonous

Foxglove
but I've an inclination towards laurels and violet, celandine and foxglove; the wildflowers you plucked in the sunlight of our summers.

you never bought me roses,
Throw a few rose petals into the mix. You always fancied the smell of those. Do you like mint and sunflower? I hope so. Tulips are too soft for you. I thought you’d prefer buttercups or daffodils. Don’t worry, I put both in for good measure. Ivy feels nice. Perhaps you’ll like the taste of it. Can’t hurt to try. Remember Christmas? The mistletoe was romantic. Perhaps I’ll put some of that in there as well. The colour’s a little bit off, though. How about some periwinkle? Or foxglove, even. That should make it better. I hope you like this, dear. Here, have a sip. Or two.

A Bittersweet Beverage
I’m trying harder than I ever have before here, today, now to **** you in all at once, and then eject you from my chest with the force of eleven crumbling mountains. I don’t want to know you anymore and I want to forget how you stammer when you’re excited and have a closet full of comic books, but you have a whole bedroom filled with cracked skeletons, as if skeletons weren’t broken enough already. Today, here, now is the last time I will wash you out of my hair, and use your first name in poems, it’s the last time I’ll let my heart palpitate when you mention her name. Today, here, now is the last time I’ll breathe you out, slowly but I promise you, today, and I swear to God, it may take eleven shots of ***** chased with *** but today, I will inhale and exhale you for the last time.

your name is foxglove and mine is angelica
The demon fly hath landed now intent upon it's task **** Demon in its valedictory explorations grasp. Embedded deep in kidneys, to cause me some concern. A painful path to endgame and a Hellish lesson learned. I pause a moment, think it out, it's one way or the other I lost a mate the other day and last month, lost another. Seems it is the season for the cataclysmic time I'd rather it be elsewhere but I fear this one... is mine. I've run a rough and winding track these rugged years of yore Pulled the Dragons tail in jest and sought, yet, for more. Rafted mighty rivers and flew the heavens high And lifted my perception winging vaulting, clear blue sky. I've known the velvet touch of love, the softness of her lips The crash of waves on sandy shore caressing fingertips. The swelling joy of childbirth, the pledge of mothers milk And rock like bonds of marriage binding all within its ilk. With thoughts a million miles away I've trudged this country lane Pondered why, with voids approach, it engenders me no pain? Wondering why it matters that the children shed a tear When saddened, glancing passing eyes, are never really near. Regret I'll never get to see my grove of rhodos bloom Or sip the soothing whisky as I tap my toe in tune. Or launch into the crazy surf and splash out to the rock Nor lie in sun on baking sand admiring talent flock. Meat pies with sauce at football with a cold beer in the hand And the repartee with kindred minds in poetry unplanned, That flash of inspirations' alliteration sprung Brings the joy to mind of comradeship in Shakespeare's realm, unsung. .....And then there's all that's left undone, the words, now, left unsaid The notes of tragic violin hang in the air...unbled And you there with the swimming eyes, what do I say to you? It's all been grand, I kiss your hand....Adieu , my friend.... Adieu! M. Foxglove, Taranaki New Zealand 20 October 2020

i'm just a little much for everyone i love, amongst a bouquet of silver flowers, i'm a lavender foxglove, growing sideways and upwards. { i tried to grow tall enough to be another star in your sky, but the azure ripples of your universe became a whirlpool, pulling me under, under the piercing night, yet, somehow, my roots held strong to the earth around me. i tried to grow my roots deeper into the rusty ground below, but my leaves grew weak and my stem became invisible, and your sky released a tornado of snow, and yet, somehow, my flower petals pushed forward. } i love myself, i love the people in my life, i love love, in a field of waving white wheat, i am a violet foxglove, against the soft blue sky, you can see me reside in my own space, by my own grace.

foxglove
Barbed wire disguised as a sanctuary. Decay in the comfort of a garden full of foxglove. How long have I been sitting here? Nightshade sure looks pretty When it’s far away.

I'm a medium poet my temperature never rising too high and that's okay my darlings, that's okay historically, greatness seems to require more misery than i'm willing to wear anymore. I let it go with forgiveness sold my soul to the angels so i can stand in the garden in my purple bathrobe to hear trumpets blare see little strip-ed bees crawling into the foxglove, smiling dandelions 500 square feet of mystery and i'm struck, once again, by awe

crawlways aching for the idiot. that's me. that's a little harsh. we're only even with the world, then I wake up and ask for applesauce, or applause, because I'm a great tesseract under a strong thumb. so, are you snatching the smoke from my wildfire, the iron from my soil? I meant from my soul? no, sarcasm is ok. now how to be unmade into mulch and microchips! it's a wonder what they think of me, the foxglove in khaki pants, fire to herself, moody animal - too hispanic for their sun. resigned to being the mouth kissed for good luck, the cave-eyed ******* of a piece of gold and a cup of mud. now, to give up the secret password -
