"fatigue" poems
Static, memories Emanating, separating   The postcard- perfect Still life speaks From its storied past. Invisible, to drift Among   The florid aphorisms, Ending in Deleterious debris, Aftermath of The inevitable. Empty room, echo hollow Tabula rasa - Carpet clean, quite candid in it's Return to callow. Consciousness athirst, Absorbing phenomena Effervesce, inquisitive Ideas foment, Sealed inside a question. The what - Against the narrow Scarcity, And fatigue of should. A tender malleable Youth, Betrayed, under An assumed decorum - Residue of truth, Flattened emotion Privations of a self Unheard; Misplaced affirmation, Buried pathologies   In architecture Fear manifests symbolic. Harboring apathy The lunacy of pious Pedigree, Import contagion, Fetters of benignity Doubt and indecision   Into ****** Cognizance, Fallow spirits Seep fumes of decay, Credulity bleeds a human stain. Social edifice, inoculated   Heirs of neurosis; Palpable, sensual pain And transience, though Tacit - remain, Our haunted history, The blind hyperbole, Maudlin Forbearance, this haven, A portrait Of immaculate condition, Nurtured with precision Under sterling pretense. Provincial domicile - House beautiful, Savage irony - Unseen treasure Innocence unabridged, Faces, tiny creations; Compliant vessels Wounded,   While modernism murmurs   Its promise. Brave New World, In a late model sedan, Domestic ranch on a Corner lot, Suburban natives, Silence means security. The misunderstood Speak louder - Consumerism beneath     Unvarnished ambition, Never could Repair the brokenness within... © 2011 & 2018 W. S. Warner

O fast day that trembles at the sight of Moon - when will your warm arms bend again the night's thick armor that shades the world of joyous muse?   It is most facetious in its illusion, that renegade of pale indifference, when daylight dwindles and leaves more to imagine than can be seen with naked eye.   Beneath the gaze of Her taunting face, people do not walk as done in light - suddenly, trudging and stumbling are hip style. Faces covered in guilt, remorse, fatigue - all the things Sun can wash away with a simple, lucid grin.   If brightest bright were set ablaze amidst the night, would people be plucked from this false sanctuary which darkness so convincingly provides? Then many a Lost could be freed; if only to see clearly through effervescent haze.   O blessed Sun! With your arousal, Truth and Freedom will also renew - until again that blank stare casts its malevolent glow on Delusion.

Ode to an Evening
On the stiff twig up there Hunches a wet black rook Arranging and rearranging its feathers in the rain. I do not expect a miracle Or an accident To set the sight on fire In my eye, nor seek Any more in the desultory weather some design, But let spotted leaves fall as they fall, Without ceremony, or portent. Although, I admit, I desire, Occasionally, some backtalk From the mute sky, I can't honestly complain: A certain minor light may still Lean incandescent Out of kitchen table or chair As if a celestial burning took Possession of the most obtuse objects now and then -- Thus hallowing an interval Otherwise inconsequent By bestowing largesse, honor, One might say love. At any rate, I now walk Wary (for it could happen Even in this dull, ruinous landscape); skeptical, Yet politic; ignorant Of whatever angel may choose to flare Suddenly at my elbow. I only know that a rook Ordering its black feathers can so shine As to seize my senses, haul My eyelids up, and grant A brief respite from fear Of total neutrality. With luck, Trekking stubborn through this season Of fatigue, I shall Patch together a content Of sorts. Miracles occur, If you care to call those spasmodic Tricks of radiance miracles. The wait's begun again, The long wait for the angel, For that rare, random descent.

Black Rook In Rainy Weather
I rise along with the sun A new day A new start The mistakes and success' of yesterday are long since gone It's a new day Some I want to end just as they begin others to last forever No matter my mood My strength My Fatigue It's a new day It's a new start Choices are made To show love To show hate To work strong Or fall to FATE These choices all must face Ones that lead to good Others--- not so much As the sun descends The day comes to an end We face the consequences of our daily wake Hearts broken Hearts mended New friends New enemies But here we enter the forgiveness of the night A new day A new start.

Each day with so much ceremony begins, with birds, with bells, with whistles from a factory; such white-gold skies our eyes first open on, such brilliant walls that for a moment we wonder "Where is the music coming from, the energy? The day was meant for what ineffable creature we must have missed?" Oh promptly he appears and takes his earthly nature instantly, instantly falls victim of long intrigue, assuming memory and mortal mortal fatigue. More slowly falling into sight and showering into stippled faces, darkening, condensing all his light; in spite of all the dreaming squandered upon him with that look, suffers our uses and abuses, sinks through the drift of bodies, sinks through the drift of vlasses to evening to the beggar in the park who, weary, without lamp or book prepares stupendous studies: the fiery event of every day in endless endless assent.

Through the hectic buzz, a moment of calm breezes by; a teen utterly possessed with fatigue. It was then that demons surface; merely suppressed, now relishing its reign once again.

Demons
I was hurting, suffering From a pain so great, That words, screams and tears Were not enough. So I did the only thing I knew how to: I danced, And danced, And danced some more. I danced Until my feet bled, And my vision was blurry From the sweat and fatigue; Until I was breathing so hard That it burned my lungs; Until I could no longer feel My legs aching; Until my lips were so dry and chapped, It hurt to smile or move them at all. I let the music carry me, And with every note, With every beat, I would imagine a string Attaching to my limbs Allowing me to lose control, Allowing me to surrender Until I was no longer in charge Of my movements. It felt good. That pain felt comforting. Normal. I understood it. It let me know I was alive still. It let me know I could still feel something. And so I welcomed it. For it was nothing compared To the one that I felt inside. The one that was invisible, Yet suffocating me with its presence. The one that left me numb every night. The one that filled me up with fear And still drained me of all emotions. The one I tried to ignore, But seemed to never leave. Always stalking me, Hiding in the shadows Waiting for its moment. A moment of weakness, Of solitude Or ultimate numbness, A moment I was terrified Would soon come.

Pain
The fatigue flows through me As if it has invaded the marrow of my bones Leaking out into the flesh Rendering me paralyzed in an unfocused state I sleep to live and wish only to end the dulled mind set It’s crushing to find that shard of thought Urging me to get up Do not sleep, it whispers There is too much to do, the insidious trails of ideas speak The words taken down seek to undo the restlessness The blurred vision of the time slipping past in red numbers Sleep, my body cries Wait a minute more, my mind calls back Sleep deprived with burning eyes A single tear breaks the tie I cannot go on Sleep calls me back Pulling me down to the place I cannot ignore anymore Sleep, my body whispers Sleep, my mind sighs cc111911

Sleep Deprived
Sundays, too, she got up early and let her feet lead her through the dusty alleys of that small town It was a luxury to have this kind of time alone, silence was vital food for her soul Enduring the weekday demands to relish a few hours of nothingness, rare meditation, An escape from a world of momentary necessity The sweet morning air that kissed one’s skin now turned heavy and stagnant Back down again through the same storied streets that, Had become unbearably hot by the noon-day sun, the pace of life slowed accordingly A weight came over her, the sort of fatigue where every exhaustible cell in your body yearns for rest She would wander all day if she could, meandering over ground hallowed by history By now the shadows of the afternoon had casted their long, lanky bodies behind the old chalk buildings The pulse of life reached a complete pause, as if away on vacation in a more hospitable place Everything bent, decaying, surrendering to the heat, and everything marked in contrast by the sun’s glare Here, she stands straight and strong, gazing into the burning face of the oppressor and giver of life And deny it the desire to win this vague war of attrition When rung out on the floor she’d smell of autumn and satisfaction Speaking to me she’ll tell of the faith in self, strength in solitude, and love of something greater than we dare to know.

What thoughts I have of you tonight, Walt Whit- man, for I walked down the sidestreets under the trees with a headache self-conscious looking at the full moon. In my hungry fatigue, and shopping for images, I went into the neon fruit supermarket, dreaming of your enumerations! What peaches and what penumbras! Whole fam- ilies shopping at night! Aisles full of husbands! Wives in the avocados, babies in the tomatoes!--and you, Garcнa Lorca, what were you doing down by the watermelons? I saw you, Walt Whitman, childless, lonely old grubber, poking among the meats in the refrigerator and eyeing the grocery boys. I heard you asking questions of each: Who killed the pork chops? What price bananas? Are you my Angel? I wandered in and out of the brilliant stacks of cans following you, and followed in my imagination by the store detective. We strode down the open corridors together in our solitary fancy tasting artichokes, possessing every frozen delicacy, and never passing the cashier. Where are we going, Walt Whitman? The doors close in an hour. Which way does your beard point tonight? (I touch your book and dream of our odyssey in the supermarket and feel absurd.) Will we walk all night through solitary streets? The trees add shade to shade, lights out in the houses, we'll both be lonely. Will we stroll dreaming ofthe lost America of love past blue automobiles in driveways, home to our silent cottage? Ah, dear father, graybeard, lonely old courage- teacher, what America did you have when Charon quit poling his ferry and you got out on a smoking bank and stood watching the boat disappear on the black waters of Lethe? WHOOSH she goes On the low seas, carried by the high winds. Where Ankles anchor, Knees tack, Back yaws, Wrists lock, and Thumb sagg. Holding on to a harpoon in my dingy, flopping against Glinting, Honed, Double-Edged waves. "**Light, ** It's the Eye of the Storm.** Fatigue steers me into its heart My anchor prodding me, To continue or to rest.

The Ships Set Sail
Cue the banjo solos and the violin swells. Sleeping children in withering weeping willow high chairs covered in creamed carrots. Young cherry blossom lovers shout curses, shatter floodgates, let tears flow; petals are brushed away by the wind. Widows and over-easy eggs, crossword puzzles and sad irony on fifteen across - "Murdered, 'Ides of March.'" The weight of their fatigue growing dark and heavy under their eyes. A waitress breaks silence, "More coffee?" A sleeping child awakes, crying under the brightness of the morning sun.

Americana Breakfast
He almost let out a sigh of dismay, Knowing this stint would be short lived. The common sense in his head seemed to say, "No one could be this lucky, don't have yourself deceived". His wheels wobbled and shook; squeaked and wailed, Under the collective weight of the two. Screaming threats from worn bearings that ailed, He did not want to appear weak so his legs pummelled on through. The ease of cycling was only temporary He pedalled harder to gain more speed. Then the ground began to slope gently His lungs felt like bursting as he pounded his iron steed. The journey uphill had been more laborious than he had expected. All the while, the beauty hadn't uttered a single word. His mind had drifted off even though he was worn and ragged, The thought of emerging as a couple seemed less than absurd. The crest of the hill was a cool, long anticipated welcome. He could finally ease up on the pedalling. The view from there was nothing short of handsome, The downhill would take charge and he could catch up on his breathing. The wind met his face and whistled itself tuneless. The bicycle rattled as it rolled down the uneven trail. He felt a sense of flight, there was an air of calmness, Almost had forgotten about the quiet guest on his tail. At the bottom he thought he should check on his passenger, He looked ahead as he addressed the lady. When he had expected an almost immediate answer, No response came, despite his calls for her repeatedly. He pedalled with little effort as if there wasn't added weight The bicycle slowed down to a clearing where it was dim. Fatigue was setting in as the night stretched late His curiosity won the battle and got the better of him. He stopped his bicycle and maintained balance with his feet, He twisted his torso so he could speak to his fare. The moment he did so, his heart had almost ceased to beat, To his horror, he found that the lady was no longer there...

The Viet Nam era was a witches brew.Mission creep in Saigon The evening news brought the ****** trips stumbling into my TV dinner, kicking over my Tang. Bouncing Betty went bang Beans and ***** out the can. Guys in my age bracket knew it was safe cause 18 was the magic Number. RESPECT Simon and Garfunkel ,The godfather of soul. What we. Had Here. Was. Failure to Communicate. We were reaching for the stars with one hand and squeezing of rounds with the other. Bobby was in the crossfire Martin would retire, I remember. Guys slinking back home with broken minds Baby killers all. No love ,No jobs. COMBAT FATIGUE. PTSD Came later. Got a monster habit, Nose running of like a racetrack rabbit. The Nam # 2.5
When I look into the mirror And stare at my own reflection I see a stranger sneering at me I see the patch of dark around my eyes I see my hair going grey I see the blotchy skin and wrinkles on my face It all makes me think How rapid is the flight of youth Once I was a bubbly girl Full of charm with dreamy eyes The golden vistas cheered my heart In my dreams I scaled to touch the skies Love vibrated every nerve But now a sad change has come over It all makes me think How rapid is the flight of time Once I thought how bright and sweet was life Agile were my movements, could walk miles Fatigue I never knew, supple limbs never ached Life was a roller coaster ride Today when I look at the young With wind in their skirts and sunbeams in their eyes I see the stark change that years have brought And wonder how rapid the onset of old age is Though my beauty has burnt away And my bones have a brittle grate Still I would like to hold on stubbornly Looking at each day for what next day brings As I still have a hopeful heart And wish to embrace life as it comes To make it a sweet labor of love So I ‘rage, rage against the dying of light’!

As Old Age Beckons
At last the secret is out, as it always must come in the end, the delicious story is ripe to tell to tell to the intimate friend; over the tea-cups and into the square the tongues has its desire; still waters run deep, my dear, there's never smoke without fire. Behind the corpse in the reservoir, behind the ghost on the links, behind the lady who dances and the man who madly drinks, under the look of fatigue the attack of migraine and the sigh there is always another story, there is more than meets the eye. For the clear voice suddenly singing, high up in the convent wall, the scent of the elder bushes, the sporting prints in the hall, the croquet matches in summer, the handshake, the cough, the kiss, there is always a wicked secret, a private reason for this.

At Last the Secret is Out
My days are filled With Quadratic functions And Hydrocarbons. I've had little time for Billy Collins. Or sleep, for that matter. I'm thankful for the little Moments like this. When the professor can't find His power-point. Or a lunch hour where I eat something besides text books. I need time to reflect. Find myself under all this stress Take a breath and Play a quick game of "Where's Waldo" With my soul. Scribble some words Or a picture. Or maybe, Just stare out the window Contemplating the willow tree And how her limbs struggle to Kiss the ground.

State of Being (Senryu)
The Peace Process I don’t know where I'm going with this but there is peace in Colombia, the Marxist rebels lost and their **** women soldiers in green fatigue and weapons in arms will hand it all in for fashion magazines Hair- dressing salons and babies in arms. For women, a change from war to peace is easy to make it will be worse for men who feel inferior without guns. If Texas as an example had been a gun free zone you would have ended up with tall queens as cowhands, or what do I know left their oil wells and gone to Montana So why did the Marxist lose, ******* I think more economical beneficial, cash in hands better than a Marxist bible on the roof 28 years of peace the political parties in Colombia will have no consensus as the blamed is car mechanics or ranchers Everything is possible from the first female president in Colombia or and openly gay governor in Texas. Festive dresses and bulls with flowers on horns will be marching down the Avenue in Houston.

the peace process
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

I’m not good at being forward I have this habit of becoming disordered I let my emotions change the color of my sleeve In my aspirations I hope to find belief I walk through jungles and rainforests Once in a while I see through the canopy Into the skies of my memories And request that stars dance to the rhythm of us I keep them alive to avoid the gathering of dust My memories, caught in the Pensieve of your eyes Have ignored all the times I told myself lies I may not be your ideal Superman But I’d accept Peter Pan if you’ll go with me to Neverland I’ve rarely been so captivated by a girl Sure, Zooey Deschanel is quirky in New Girl And Emma Watson bewitched me from the start Anna Kendrick was perfect in Pitch Perfect Alex Morgan is the luckiest 13 I’ve ever seen But I choose you! To fill my canteen You quench my thirst when the loneliness dries me I was not made to walk in a desert My heart is an amphibian Living like a Floridian in the ice-cold tundra we call Rexburg You still need the sun, no matter how much it snows I’ll trudge on in the jungle; dormant in the night I’ll carry on with you in mind, until the time is right Once I’ve faced death, or even a spider Then, I think I’ll top the greats; George of the Jungle, Aslan, Mogly, Tarzan, Batman, Peter Pan, Harry Potter, Genghis Kahn, Michael… Jackson or Jordan They’re all kings and I’ll be in their league As I shake off the fatigue and find courage in you To make it through the awkward moment of simply saying “You’re a real kind of gorgeous” In that chorus, played on my rhythm of heartbeats I found my way out of the back streets From deep in the jungle I’ve come to know as Fear A jungle that disappears when your presence is near Sometimes I have to stop walking, stop thinking I feel like I’m on the verge of something spectacular Anything normal might ruin that

On the Verge of Spectacular
I'm tired! I'm tired of everything, I'm tired of all this world, I'm tired of everything! I’m tired of every example, I'm tired of all the effort, I'm tired of paying the price, I'm tired of dying of desire! I'm tired of being late, I'm tired of being diagnosed, I'm tired of being cured, I'm tired of being censored! I'm tired of having to explain to me, I'm tired of having to listen, I’m tired of all words, I got tired even of poetry! I'm tired of still life, I'm tired of alternative medicine, I'm tired of rich details, I'm tired! I'm tired of daydreaming, I'm tired of sleeping on the train, I'm tired of feeling pain, I'm tired of suffering for love! I'm tired of everything in this world! Tired tired! Tired of living tired, Tired to exhaustion! Tired out, Married… I married my old coat With my fatigue.
