"fascination" poems
it is at moments after i have dreamed of the rare entertainment of your eyes, when(being fool to fancy)i have deemed with your peculiar mouth my heart made wise; at moments when the glassy darkness holds the genuine apparition of your smile (it was through tears always)and silence moulds such strangeness as was mine a little while; moments when my once more illustrious arms are filled with fascination, when my breast wears the intolerant brightness of your charms: one pierced moment whiter than the rest —turning from the tremendous lie of sleep i watch the roses of the day grow deep.

It Is At Moments After I Have Dreamed
Draining life to fill it with watered-down pain, can he feel now? If my teeth make an appearance, you'll be given your fix of my 'happiness,' injected through your cranium. I wish I could navigate my naive wishes, as I'm sinking in my pillows, and the light on the ceiling is winking at me as I'm patched up, written in 'unhappy' My uncanny doubts are fancying a feathery gift of sleep, unlike this fascination with falling feet to my death of dreams-

Carved Cranium
I have the unfortunate belief that my self-worth lies in the quality of my hair. It may sound ridiculous, but it's true. Go ahead, touch my hair. I feed off of your fascination -though I remain engaged only as long as you do- my tolerance for my hair is equivalent to its length. I once had someone tell me "I like your hair better straight" And that was when fifth grade ruined me. I thought by changing they would accept me. And Daniel would like me like he liked Taylor and all of my likes would be returned and Eddie would choose me because we were best friends and I had the fortune of being beautiful but I wasn't allowed to be beautiful to him because I have this hair. People wonder why I spend hours with an iron. But when you're so different that boys won't like you because your hair is curly and you teeth are crooked you have no choice but to change the things that are in your power. I could never make myself fully white But I sure as hell can straighten my hair and let Mamaw buy me braces. They can call you giraffe neck still, but at least your hair is straight like everyone else. Yes, you like to touch it and it's "neat" and it's "soft" But why on earth should that matter to me? People respect my hair because it is mine. But he will not love it unless it is like hers- wind-caught silk that hangs to her waist. I weep for my hair. I weep for my hair. You do not understand how different it is. You do not understand how hard it is to stick out like a sore thumb because your genetics were oppressed for 500 years. I am ugly Because of my hair. No number of people telling me of its beauty will matter because I cannot see it. He cannot see it either.

seductive decay on summer days we rode down the river in our ripe age, careless if the rapids swept us into their deadly dustpans, the black hole of water, the possibility aroused us, perhaps because it seemed so far away. and next to the river, the appalachian townsfolk wandered the deep grass, they gathered here to see the circling folding-tables, buy the spread of goods, the goods are masks. the masks are of old folks’ faces, cartoon-like, goofy comic characters in the funny pages. masks of rubbered wrinkles, permanent, bulging eyes, whiskered ears that never stop growing, with an elastic band, you can become an elder. old age attracts the crowds, i have a fascination with it myself, picturing all the stories that have taken elders to the present, it’s hard to fake being wise when you’re forced to think for years.

The only proper way to be a conversationalist is to convince yourself that you’re boring. If you can strip back the hard shell of the ego, and look down on yourself from the eyes of an apathetic God, you will likely (and hopefully) see just how boring you really are. It isn’t a sin to be boring, in fact there are many advantages to honest self-depreciation. The main advantage, is the way you approach a conversation. “Interesting” people find it difficult to silence the affected score-keeper that dominates their internal dialogue and ruins any chance of an honest and engaged conversation. It is the voice that reminds you to show interest with your body language, and keep a dumb happy gaze laser pointed into their eyes. This dialogue is obsessed with authenticity and genuine conversation, and therefore a natural sociopath. Luckily, you are the stunning definition of boredom, an extracted dictionary cut-out of un-interesting, and nobody could possibly give a rats-ass what you have to think—least of all the Voice that controls the inner-dialogue. That Voice has packed it up to find a more interesting vessel…maybe the person standing across from you in conversation.
Because you are so boring, and they are the Oxford personification of intellect and fascination, you should pay careful attention to what they say—no time to worry about how they’re perceiving your reaction to whatever it is they’re saying. You are too busy to notice what sort of body language you may or may not be using to validate their half of the conversation. Instead, your time is spent carefully hanging on their every word, digesting it and projecting the whole bit into a colourful scene in your imagination. Instead, you’re too lost in the excitement of their infinitely more interesting life and impossible wealth of knowledge offered to you with each word that they speak. Instead, you are actually listening to the words that come out of their mouth and not the ones that speak to you from the inside of your own mind. This is what it means to be in conversation. This was the point of our social nature. And in a world of needy social-media junkies grabbing at the cuffs of potential ‘followers’ and ‘likes’ and trendy passer-by’s, the last thing anyone needs is the high-pitched whine of another “interesting” millennial. Lucky for you, you boring sack of yawning sloths, that you aren’t interesting too.

I have a fascination with all things love, Daydreams constructing expectations and a daily need for a thing which I have yet to experience, It's an obsession which has evolved into a fear ~ Fear of a broken heart, of a lonely life, of distracted dreams. ~ Funny my ability to overthink.

The keeper of illumination Aye, the keeper of the light Safety first, his fascination Dusk to evening through the night. Aye, the keeper of the light, Every season, every day Dusk to evening, through the night He tends the beacon, shows the way. Every season, every day Climbs thirteen flights of thirteen stairs He tends the beacon, shows the way The Fresnel lantern he prepares. Climbs thirteen flights of thirteen stairs Skyward, toward the landing high The Fresnel lantern he prepares Lighthouse beacon must not die. Skyward, toward the landing high Strike the match, produce the spark Lighthouse beacon must not die. Guides ships safely through the dark. Strike the match, produce the spark Safety first, his fascination Guides ships safely through the dark The keeper of illumination. Phil Lindsey 6/25/15

The Lighthouse Keeper
I was born on November 30th , I hear that makes me a Saggitarius. I dunno what that means. I  know how to swim, and I'm a sucker for a guy with a nice smile And nice words. I'm still learning how to whisper sweet nothings I'm often loud at times when I should be quiet I'm often quiet at times when I should be loud I keep holding back or letting it all out at the wrong time. I like sweet drinks... a lot. I've been told that I give pretty bad hugs People say that it feels like I'm trying to escape Well I don't like letting people close. Especially close enough to hear me breathe. I have this odd fascination with things like time machines and technology, I assume it's because I like to figure out how things work and fix them. Am the same way with people, like to know what's coming before it does. Love usually lasts a few moments, That's also why I tend to fall in love with men Who would never love me back I know it sounds crazy, but it's actually much saner than it seems And to be honest, I think it's safer that way See relationships, they often remind me that I'm not afraid of letting go. But I'm scared of what's gonna happen The moment that my body hits the ground I'm clumsy. I usually trip when am following my feelings. I landed on my pride and it shattered like a mirror i check daily. Now I can't even tell who's trying to give me a compliment or just trying to get into my pants. I've never been into martial arts but I have all these bruises, I got from beating myself up over things I can't fix I know it sounds weird but sometimes, I wonder what the voices in my head say when am asleep. I wonder what the doors would do if they found out About all the things that I've done when they are closed. I've got a trash can that's overflowing with really, really obnoxious mistakes And a dump site in my closet with all the skeletons. You'll trap me in a corner and insist I get help. Hi, my name is Em, I enjoy ice cream and yoghurt, people watching And figuring out how to make them work. I allow myself to cry more than I need to, from letting all the wrong people in. I have solar-powered energy, I have a battery-operated heart, It flickers and dies from overuse. My hobbies include rewriting my life story, hiding behind poems, And trying to convince myself that I do matter to someone. I don't know much, but I do know this I know that if you don't have standards, you won't be treated right and be happy. I know God is still reworking my faults and flaws, I'm a unique work in progress.

Just the thought of them makes your jawbone ache: those turkey dinners, those holidays with the air around the woodstove baked to a stupor, and Aunt Lil's tablecloth stained by her girlhood's gravy. A doggy wordless wisdom whimpers from your uncles' collected eyes; their very jokes creak with genetic sorrow, a strain of common heritage that hurts the gut. Sheer boredom and fascination! A spidering of chromosomes webs even the infants in and holds us fast around the spread of rotting food, of too-sweet pie. The cousins buzz, the nephews crawl; to love one's self is to love them all.

Relatives
in this age of vanishing dreams and crying ghosts I find myself drawn again and again an undying connection to this work of art so out of time upon its creation as to be an endless fascination for me so unlike the artist this suffering soul who's immense love and anguish for the less fortunate coupled with a talent too immense for one man created a burden that weighed upon his shoulders and his heart like a million captured tears then once upon a beautiful dream or perhaps just a clever thought or a baby's smile a brief respite from the pain he created the contradiction of his lifetime as if to say to all that may come to know him through what history dictates 'You see...I was not crazy!' and The Smoking Skull was born

a momentary smile
At an unknown time of night at our cottage in northern Michigan… My younger brother and I heard strange noises coming from the beach again… We looked up at the ceiling and then the window… As the voices from outside, in a lively allegro… Grew softer and louder in repeating crescendos… We skittered out the door and stared in fascination… For what we saw must have been our imagination… The door closed with a creak as our feet hit the grass… It was at that moment we got a look at the mass… Of stubby foot, hunchback creatures from which the sounds had amassed… There was about six of them chanting like a choir… They danced and paraded around our burnt out fire… As we looked on, we saw our fire raise… It got brighter as they lifted their hands in waves… As light betook the blue beach night… A crowd of colorfully masked gremlins caught us in their sights! Their feet slowed to a stop and they quieted down… They stood still as the fire flickered off their weird wooden frowns… One reached out his hand in a come-here motion… They seemed to stand and wait with an encouraging notion… As the fire crackled and the waves tumbled onto the beach… All I can remember, is for the rest of that summer… My younger brother and I served as the drummers… For that quirky marching band of lake sprites… With which our burnt out fire we’d reignite… At an unknown time of night at our cottage in northern Michigan…

~weary weighted~ flummoxed are the sea watchers; the long rhythms of sea change reveal only minor modesties, difficult discerned are the tidal subtleties though repetitive thrashing extracts it toll, only the weary-weighted see the true meaning of the beating, knowing full well, it beats for them recalling their early day’d fascination with its endless chaining, now knowing all are similar detained-chained, and  the ******* churning but a cover up masque, they need not longer conceal, an unrevealed confess: water is heavy-weighted, you cannot forever float, constancy is of a thing to be wary, its sadder longevity, a chipping away erosion of wearing, *‘tis is the knelling noise of  sad respite, an unlight lighthouse* ~for Victoria, a year later~

Frost creeping along the window pane that trails along with spidery crystal hands and blooms on the glass the same way she captured my fascination until I realized that I was the glass and she aimed to smother, to obscure, all other views.

#teamara As in the nub of the remains of crayola crayon that’s been used to color in so many smiling cartoon suns on a piece of paper- Her favorite color is yellow. And I don’t mean a wimpy *** pastel yellow or sometimes a pale yellow I mean her favorite color is bright *** yellow. Like Pikachu yellow. Like she’s almost nineteen but she’s still willing to play Gameboy Pokemon yellow. There’s something innocent yet corny kind of yellow about her. She’s beautiful like yellow jirasol petals She’s intricate as yellow thread woven in a Rasta Dom She’s yellow like gold and Africa She’s sweet like pineapples and delicate like daffodils I still don’t know why her favorite color is yellow Maybe it has to do with her fascination of Asian men… I mean! ...with the continent of Asia She thinks she’s more like pink Japanese cherry blossom trees in the summer But I know she’s truly yellow petals on Paolo Verde trees blowing in the wind spreading around Tucson A metaphor for her love She’s yellow like the color in the middle of my pride rainbow- She supports me She’s yellow like the big painted sun at the hospital with a big grin I wonder why nobody smiles at hospitals The place where life is easily given as taken Where we are reminded that our health is sometimes taken for granted Other than that great big yellow sun She is the only that radiates yellow and smiles In waiting rooms, she seems like she’s the calmest Even though she’s the only one going through surgery She’s so beautiful on the inside her body can’t even take it She doesn’t deserve scions or scalpels to even be considered touching her bronze skin I wish instead they would strip down the color yellow from my life And give it to her to make her smile so bright that even word “cancer” would cease to exist But still. Even through pain and hardships She still smiles. Not only is she yellow when she’s happy She tends to radiate yellow even when she’s gloomy When I’m upset, her aura has way of rubbing off on mine And I get insight to why her favorite color is yellow *** she’s the kind of yellow that represents strength She’s yellow like tall forts made from gold bars She’s yellow like flames that roll of her tongue when she spits fire She’s yellow like a crayola-crayon… except she can’t be broken From her, I’m learning That even when you’re hurting You can still shine bright like your favorite color.

#*O Lord Jesus, I want to live and walk and bow in constant awe of You, but I am so easily distracted and waylaid. Fasten my eyes and heart on You, for You alone are worthy. I am not worthy to even peek at Your beauty, but by Your own worthiness You've invited me to dwell forever in Your presence, yet how often I refuse the privilege. Why would I ever do that? What is wrong with me? How hard-headed and hard-hearted I must be! Save me from my messed-up self and from this messed-up world, for I am sorely helpless and lost without You. Draw me by the force of Your love into the light of Your glory and goodness, awaken me to the healing touch of Your Word. Capture and change me to the core, for only You can, my Savior. Rid my soul of its blinding filth, muck, rot and ********** that I may freely sing, dance, swim and soar in the wonder of You. Cause me to crave You with an insatiable, desperate appetite that expels my fleshly hunger. Teach me to ever feast on You! I need You and long for You, Jesus, but send the burning, ripping ache deeper, deeper, deeper until nothing remains but desire for You. Come and satisfy me, O Delight of delights, in that glorious and awestruck place of endless fascination and total possession where my will is finally drowned in Yours.*#

Moons fall, Eggshell snow, Blurred illumination, Dreary lights, Twinkles disintegrate, Blazed sparks fade, Faint complexion, Awkward tree, Ornament shadows, Fuses burn out, Connection lost, Spirit dies out, Yuletide lie, Imperfection. My eyes are dark as Halloween night. Suns shine, White angel, Luminous site, Multicolored pigments, Rosy cheeks glow, Rays seep through, Vivid hue, Elegant she, Majestic gleams, Beams strike around, Fascination found, Neon dyes around, Joyful cry, Pulchritude. Her eyes are bright as Christmas morning.

Blindness
I gaze upon your beauty Breathtaking in its wonder I lie nestled in exquisite solitude Beholding your majesty King to my Queen In hushed reverence Dominating my vision Noble in simplicity I surrender myself to your moment Giving up my heart Abandoning all sensibility Knowing you will never forsake me Lulled by the gentle flooding Of desire to never leave this place Or your fascination (C) Pixievic

Jade sauna just over body temperature to increase metabolism smooth blood flow and sweat out toxins my hair is up there are no lines on my pale smooth face I'm happy and peaceful I look so serene and so skinny "'scuse me you speak Russian?" it's one of the cute foreigners I've had my eye on flirtations ensued and it was nice to be looked at with fascination with cute wonder getting complimented through broken english as he ran his hands through his hair smiling abashedly trying to make sense of my words as I did the same for his-- we were up all night talking "no halloween in Russia, but if had, you be Queen" he knew nothing of me just this peaceful calm side that smiled and giggled and carried a conversation like a feather on the wind he saw a girl he could smile at and say "you are very beautiful" "you have lovely smile" I'll never see him again in my life but what a wonderful memory to have of someone nothing but kind words and laughter and peace serenity a few of the things I treasure most, yes, what a lovely memory of Annex the smiling Russian boy who drank tea with me at the Jeju Spa until the sun rose and the lights came back on.

"'scuse me you speak Russian?"
I see you shining there a translucent water drop Suspended in animation From the garden where I lay I watch your silver glow, in total fascination Moving to and fro As within my heart, you play I hear your tinkling laughter, rise above the trees Softly lilting in my mind Find myself within a soulful breeze Your joyous laughter brings As your joy and mine Are combined A quiet calm is set in motion, as you begin to fall Enchantment ending in a silver splash Yet, such joy you have brought into this thrall Into the garden where I lay Even though you fell In a flash Now I see you shining there upon my yearning soil Suspended in animation In the garden where I toil I watch your silver glow, in total fascination Moving to and fro Quenching thirst, in adoration

Splash of Liquid Silver
You will always be to me, Surrounded by a dark, black, flowing sea – Its waves and textures enticing me. For I, a sailor so obsessed, My fascination with your ocean in unrest, Has me completely possessed. In a beauty so limitless, From its roots to its depths. I drown in it fearless –

Black Sea
You were the stranger with which I fell in love; You were the emptiness that became my own fulfillment; You were the outline that absorbed every colour of the spectrum when you spoke to me; You were the face of a man whose soul became my greatest fascination; You were the new unexplored place which became my truest home; You were the one I never knew, but I always loved.

Unknown Destinies
The place was dangerous as hell; we had no business being there. It was a complex, composed of four immense structures, looming on the bluffs between Lake Michigan and a ghost town. I'm not sure which side of the fence brought forth more eeriness - the sight of four massive industrial skeletons was indeed an eerie one, but within the village that must endure it's haunting presence persists a dwindling heartbeat... and together they produced a heightened effect of slow decay - and that was what drew me in. The place was magnificent day or night. By day, we'd explore the groundworks while the light allowed us to admire the massive machinery, which by then had accumulated copious amounts of corrosion. All those dead giants, never to function again. In the spring time, beams of light would penetrate the ceiling above, caving in from years of stress sans stress tests. Even when the light was not shining through, one could make out where the beams have been because in their wake they left a trail of life. Up to that point in my life I thought that was the most beautiful scene I had ever seen - a thousand tons of old machinery, and a stubborn sunbeam poking through, incubating it's au natural industrialized chia pet. By night, we would ascend to the rooftops of these four story horror stories and gaze up at the stars. Sometimes, when our ***** were feeling particularly swelled, we'd venture across the rooftops as if in some post-apocalyptic videogame. And sometimes when we were feeling a bit rebellious and artistic, we'd bring along some cans of spray paint and redecorate to our desire. Oh, and another reason the place reeked of death was surely due to it being a glue factory... wherein horses were killed in order to gain access to their foot-stuff. I was told by an unfortunate local that they'd bury the unwanted horse parts in big pits back behind the place... this man had told me that he fell into one while wandering around back there - nearly died trying to get out. We knew the place was soon to be leveled, but we did not know when. Eventually I ended up moving out of state for a while, and alas, upon my return my childhood fascination was no more. shrugs... So it goes.
