"effervescing" poems
my Mumbai woman
~~~
to my Indian poets & friends
all be advised,
my piety, my muse,
has decamped me for weeks on end
to your
yon far and fair lands
the red dot beside her
electronic signature
a sign of her absence,
seemingly to have been
magically transferred
to her forehead
so perhaps my love poetry
will become absent, reticent,
quiescent
or perhaps
it will build brighter, effervescing
in my very own Taj Mahal,
an edifice built by great love past
and yet ever still present,
for I testify,
I have many times it,
seen imbued,
lovingly observed
between a certain
men and women here writ large,
who there permanent reside,
and in my heart as well
spend a minute many,
all my fingers and
toes employed
how many, so many,
Indian fellow travelers
on poetry lanes and yellow dust encrusted roads,
in cities unpronounceable
that this illiterate literary fool
has come to know and multi-arm entwine
to you,
I commend and command to you
her safety,
asking immodestly for
an imposition, an interference
pray to the local gods,
your heads of state and highest nature's,
that they be her
beside,
her unobserved
safe-keepers,
as she treks your country's
Northern pastures
let her skin glow from
your brighter rays,
eyes even wider~wiser opened
by the newness of your antiquity,
your glorious,
poetic place
in our world
Hildegard of Bingen
the most musical abbess
of the year 1097 a.d.
met with Jung the unconscious detective
and Ginsberg the howling poet
for lattes at some Starbucks
in a vibrating city
on a shimmering afternoon.
Angelic minuets keep flowing,
effervescing through my chakras
like tonal champagne . . .
the glowing femme declared.
Beams of ethereal light infuse me,
tsumanis of energy tempt me
to dance right out of my habit.
Ignoring the possibility
of seeing a naked nun drink coffee in public,
Alan mused behind his hornrims . . .
I get what you mean
like I have felt the same perfusion of joy
watching cans of peas and ayahuasca
dance with talking bananas
at the A&P; Market near my pad in Brooklyn,
can you dig it?
Still suffering from his Freudian hangover,
Carl reframed them both . . .
Any conclusions or convictions
drawn from such experiences
may not self-verify because
your introspective identifications
attempt in vain
to concretize the amorphicity
of decentralized psychic sensations
which reach conscious awareness
only at the expense of extension.
What did he just say?
Hildegard asked Alan.
I have absolutely no idea,
the portly poet answered
as he doodled an intricate mandala
on his hemp napkin.
From a tiny seed,
Cultivated on the vine.
You fed hedonistic need,
Turning grapes into wine.
Sun-ripened botanicals,
Coated with white snow,
Reactive chemicals,
Delicious moscato.
Metabolic complexity,
Antioxidant neveau,
Oxygenic activity,
Bubbly pinot grigio.
Crisp and refreshing,
Cheeks become sanguine.
Acidic and effervescing,
Behold, fruit into wine
you shunned when the light came through,
tousled hair, eyebags hanging loose.
you were always good at navigation,
your future though was in the opposite direction.
your smiles were fueled by smokes and dreams,
effervescing in snowglobes of sleepless mist.
i was merely a fly attracted to fire,
hoping your tendrils could propel me higher.
when you learnt that i glowed in the night,
eyes shut tight, you extinguished the light.
he was a fly who wanted to be a dragon,
his gaze held beats of 25 per second.
they said it'd sting when he touched me,
the devil's needles, they called him.
whoever believed in those stories,
couldn't be any more sorry -
dragonflies can't hurt fireflies,
for they're both creatures of the night.
Scrying on the Moon (for Brigid)
By sibylline light
images I recognize,
creviced captures of my life.
I know her judgment to be my own.
"Nourished by Moon rivers
mythical cavern blooms
unseen by sunlight
glow green."
Thus she sets the scene;
becomes the prophecy.
"Purest white simplicity
curved to suggest fragility
faith fed maiden ready for
plucking,
given in ******* to womanly woes,
hard rows to ***
for that human hug through
crying of night.
Fate of mortal soldiers, sacrificed to lust.
Seeking relief, beg for the boon of drama
high adventure
sneaking into sad hotels
for a fix or a tumble.
Laughs,
deadly play,
danger, a real chance.
Barefoot in the snow
icy roads
winds so strong
I could not make you hear.
I thought you were my destiny.
Crazy thoughts, far from clear;
but I believed
song lyrics from Saturnine deities
would not lie, leave me
dying, fading into winter's grey
drifting clouds,
endless sorrow endured for naught.
Lost on this careless corner,
dreaming of oblivion, intent on visions
like rain
tapping against eternity's
vast windowpane.
Scenic serenity.
Nature's gradations of green
soothe tired eyes,
trembling nerves, throbbing veins.
Slivers of moonlight reflect
in withered refrains, unearth secrets
embedded in song
effervescing through cool pure air
cleansing the uprising nestling
set aflame
resurrected
tempered mettle,
pure, wise, tested
engorged with the will
to rise"
He's a cynic,
she's a motley fool
they go through time;
witty, in opposite directions
Together they make up
the string of Time:
everlasting, effervescing,
shimmering a long a line.
In contrast they balance
In not like features they oppose
Uneducated or wise,
each to the same degree.
They balance like 6 and 9,
fitting like
two paisleys
in the same sphere
Likewise they despise and love:
in the same degree, at the same time
Everlasting, effervescing,
shimmering a long a line.
In just one moment
We exchanged a glance
My words stolen, by her
striking beauty, I was struck
left stuttering with a mind
put-puttering and a heart
flut-fluttering
There is magic in her eyes
filled with love,
effervescing skies
of scintillating stars
There is mystery in the heart
of her, like an infinitely
blossoming flower
(Intro)
From her I get …
From her I get …
(Vs 1)
She validates my existence
Leaves me always wanting more
I just love her sweet persistence
Yes, she’s the one that I adore
From her I get …
(Chorus)
Action
Main attraction
Chain reaction
Satisfaction
From her I get …
Rainbows
Anything goes
All tomorrows
Only she knows
From her I get …
Laughter
Morning after
To the rafters
Ever after
From her I get …
Kindness
Color blindness
Love that binds us
To remind us
From her I get …
(Vs 2)
Days overwhelmed by stress and strife
My heart was hard my blood ran cold
You shared your warmth and love of life
That day we met when I struck gold
From her I get...
(Chorus)
Sunshine
Beautiful rhyme
Says she’ll be mine
All of the time
From her I get …
Romance
Rhythmic slow dance
Love at first glance
Taking a chance
From her I get …
Blessings
Effervescing
Love confessing
No distressing
From her I get …
True love
Say I do love
From up above
Fits like a glove
From her I get …
(Bridge)
If selfishness precipitates, love will evaporate
Throw caution to the wind then your life will upend
If selfishness precipitates, love will evaporate
How much better at day's end to be found kind
(Vs 3)
Knowing I’d be lost without her
Communication is the key
May God bless our love forever
Our three-fold cord eternally
From her I get …
(Chorus)
Action
Main attraction
Chain reaction
Satisfaction
From her I get …
Rainbows
Anything goes
All tomorrows
Only she knows
From her I get …
Laughter
Morning after
To the rafters
Ever after
From her I get …
Kindness
Color blindness
Love that binds us
To remind us
(Outro)
From her I get …
From her I get …
(Repeat and fade)
earth's stunning beauty...
a bitter sweet concoction
we imbibe to pass away
the hours, the haze,
our allotted days
with effervescing
memories!
*post script.
written in response to a club-member's photo post on another site...
a medley of photos from her garden.
her photos, my musings...
how could she know that today is a musing, effervescent day?*
Eddie Vedder's earthy
voice way into the wild...
manna acoustics, effervescing.
tremerous burial grounds
up with the wind, song to
staggering trees.
moist soil round the still
lightning of roots.
skull-fulls of lyric no mind...
echoing the system.
raising the rythm, enriching
the pattern.
I know I was drawn to coming here
to a dark room with a mind to
clear
I need some time to think about me
And find out what my life needs to be
I have a habit of blaming myself
Give all my love to everyone else
So, what I have been repressing
Has bubbled up & effervescing
A hard battle that I have to win
Am I worthy of self-forgiving?
It's time to let all the past go
Less ebb & much more flow
flash floods of emotion
moisten dry parched lips
sensual springs effervescing
quenching unquenchable hips
tranquil rivers wind
hearts entwine
breath skips
today, you seem
to swim consciously
in the blurry happenings
absorptive
of both their chaotic canopies
and their knotted stilts
in substantial intertwining
your recent form, you
effervescing lightness, as i deep-delve
into your freeform spectacle
in scribes and silence
is
a contemplated combobulation
in almost a hidden haziness: there's
but a fiery flame within
in boundless lucidity
of the flaring galactical suns
and the sacred smoking eyeblack
smears around from cores, the blackwhole scripts
that you realized
and still in the go as you grow
full and null and full and null
and so. verse traverse
your phasal swings
unto that yielding amplitude
that one unreturning
singularity
Like worms breaking through the earth
Reaching the surface
They are blind to see the light effervescing
Right before their tired bodies
They know not what they are searching for
Nor the danger that awaits above
But they continue
Until those tiny bodies burn under the strain
And their flesh burns under the sun
Breaking though the barrier
That keeps them from the world as we know it
Cascades the world that never dies.within the silence of my eyes in the deafness of my vision i sit and wait the earths collision, transparent fragments effervescing Deep within this winter blessing scaling down into the clear hurtling through your atmosphere hold me Closer hold me here.
