#*When all of worldly beauty's lost When form and face have borne the cost Of life's sojourn upon this earth A greater glory then springs forth When vanity is cast aside With long-dashed dreams and fallen pride At last a better hope I see One anchored in eternity When no one gives a second glance Or offers promise of romance I know the One whose love is true Who looks beyond what most men do When wit and charm have fled from thought And company's no longer sought There's still One friend who longs to hear My every word, desire and fear When awkwardness is more the rule Than competence and being cool His words I hear so gently spoken, "Come, poor in spirit and all who are broken." When those around me criticize With disapproval in their eyes He spreads His arms with full embrace And wears acceptance on His face When kindred spirit can't be found And understanding's wayward bound The One who knows me best will be Thinking precious thoughts toward me When foot is slipping, mind astray From trying to fix things my own way He rescues me with hourly grace And sets me in a spacious place When all my naught attempts at fame Lie crushed beneath a weight of shame I seek the fame of Him instead Who calls my name and lifts my head When youth and vigor fade away And triumph seems an ancient day My strength can rest in One who brings Fresh power to soar on eagle's wings When my last breath some day I take Death's shadowed crossing, hence, to make Upon Christ's nail-scarred feet I'll fall To kiss that One who is my ALL*#

My ****** betrays me It yearns to be touched, kissed, caressed Drawn to the point of ecstasy But perhaps lingering at the edge To relish the pleasure for a moment A moment Longer My ****** betrays me Always wanting more More More Never consolidating with the others parts The brain The heart And we are not speaking in terms of anatomical correctness No, but in terms of Emotions I said it My ****** betrays me My heart yearns They argue The heart wants intimacy, human touch, connection The feeling of looking into the eyes of another and knowing In that instant That second That moment Everything is okay And even if it isn’t It doesn’t matter Nothing will matter Except This Moment My ****** betrays me My heart yearns And they argue But my brain My logic The voices within They speak up, naturally of course Please the ****** for the night Intimacy Ha Intimacy Have you looked inside For your insides are as hideous as the out Do not believe otherwise My ****** betrays me My heart yearns They argue But my brain My brain does the most damage It controls them all The betrayal, the yearning My brain betrays me My brain wants what it cannot ever have My brain desires things so far from its reach My brain imagines the impossible Love My ****** betrays me My heart yearns They argue Then my brain My brain goes off Thoughts passing by at the speed of light Each one, so very important My brain is in charge. *Casting spells in a song of lust with such beauty undenied. He's chased her half a lifetime and have lost but all his pride. Sailing all the oceans blue He's left his ship dashed on the rocks. Begging for that enchanted kiss from his mermaid as she mocks. Her voice to call within a gale scent heady upon the waves. Nets shredded trying to capture her yet every night he craves. To nary catch a fleeting glimpse of her golden hair or tail. He's chased her 'cross the storming seas as winds and rain did wail. Forever calling out her name He's come to rest in every port. On moonlit nights he hears her song attempts to see her, she does thwart. The scent of salt does show his years but still he sails to her song. Forever on the shifting waves is where his heart belongs.*

A Sailor's Tale
Last night I dreamed again. I tripped the soul right out of me. Danced dashed against the moon. I dove through the night. Skinned through it to get to you. Slipped flitted out of my body. Just slunk over to you. I screamed my rage at you! Tore out my heart for you. If sleep is the little death, Then I'll see you again tonight. cc1210

Last Night
Before all of this, even after all of this, I will forever be a patriot. Before the poet in me matured and I started talking like a parrot, The dogs of war barked and I climbed exile's fence on my own And there I have dwelled, with nothing tangible to bring me down. I have been on this fence so long and I will remain there forever! Especially since the premature child is still in the incubator. From this vantage point, I have learned never to trust any politician I've always looked at them with mistrust, disdain, and suspicion, Before all of this  and before I ran and climbed the exile fence, I was once mercilessly flogged, dragged and made to dance By drugged up and coerced child soldiers with a rubber cable They tied and spread me like a dog on the market table I watched as innocent people were killed with a rusty knife There, I vowed to become a fence dweller for the rest of my life! I've been a patriot all my life but I have done it from here..safer. From here I have seen blood spilled, hearts broken, hopes dashed, progresses stalled, mullions embezzled, promises broken, lies told people changed, games played, party surfed, interests prioritized. And from this vantage point, I have learned never ever to trust any politician I have always been right...though I have looked on with disdain, suspicion, and operated with caution but through it all, I have remained a true patriot and a fence dweller. .✍️©️✍️IvanBrooksPoetry.✍️©️✍️

The Fence Dweller
The laughter of leaves whisper testament over cool caverns, ancient moss the absurdity of clocks dashed upon rocks while they dance, backlit with sunglow, at the true speed of life daring us to defy the timeless tapestry in which all are woven Do stones large and small not rustle like leaves in the eye of the mountain? and is the leaf not as solid as stone, to the aphid? And what lives between two lover-friends? It is no brief candle measured with ticks on numbered dials It moves not with the flash of a single spark Nor with the slow glow of dawn In gentle illumination it is a soft gentle kiss drifting on mist, and it moves at the speed of love, with the rhythm of life Copyright © 2016 K. march of the writers
Oh! a bare, brown rock Stood up in the sea, The waves at its feet Dancing merrily. A little bubble Once came sailing by, And thus to the rock Did it gayly cry,-- ** clumsy brown stone, Quick, make way for me: I'm the fairest thing That floats on the sea. "See my rainbow-robe, See my crown of light, My glittering form, So airy and bright. "O'er the waters blue, I'm floating away, To dance by the shore With the foam and spray. "Now, make way, make way; For the waves are strong, And their rippling feet Bear me fast along." But the great rock stood Straight up in the sea: It looked gravely down, And said pleasantly-- "Little friend, you must Go some other way; For I have not stirred this many a long day. "Great billows have dashed, And angry winds blown; But my sturdy form Is not overthrown. "Nothing can stir me In the air or sea; Then, how can I move, Little friend, for thee?" Then the waves all laughed In their voices sweet; And the sea-birds looked, From their rocky seat, At the bubble gay, Who angrily cried, While its round cheek glowed With a foolish pride,-- "You SHALL move for me; And you shall not mock At the words I say, You ugly, rough rock. "Be silent, wild birds! While stare you so? Stop laughing, rude waves, And help me to go! "For I am the queen Of the ocean here, And this cruel stone Cannot make me fear." Dashing fiercely up, With a scornful word, Foolish Bubble broke; But Rock never stirred. Then said the sea-birds, Sitting in their nests To the little ones Leaning on their ******* "Be not like Bubble, Headstrong, rude, and vain, Seeking by violence Your object to gain; "But be like the rock, Steadfast, true, and strong, Yet cheerful and kind, And firm against wrong. "Heed, little birdlings, And wiser you'll be For the lesson learned To-day by the sea."

There’s a certain disharmony in the way of things, and how it turns humans into monsters. I saw a monster turn a girl into a woman with her clothes on the floor, and he carved ‘liar’ on her chapped lips. I reached out when she stood before me, holding a razor in one hand and whiskey in the other. She had dashed lines on her wrists and shattered glass at her feet. I feel like screaming, but my gums bleed from a mouth full of broken metal wire. I cannot tell you the story that sits on my shoulders like a child, too young to understand the weight of himself. Now my eyelids have been peeled from my face and I cannot look away from the girl when she comes home after school and asks me for help with her homework because the least I can do is solve a few math problems.

for vicki who loves this poem for the best reason ever: just does... <•> read a thousand love stories, pause, rest awhile, read ten thousand more, and then deny equality. If you ask for no more than you can give, you ask for not enough love is imbalance not an equation, with a single solution love has both constants and variable factors so you write of tribulations and tributes so you write of lamentations and liftings you think you are on the same page perhaps but do we not all read at different paces? one of you is solid, one is dotted and dashed one of you is straight, one is bent, forever curving when you think you are in balance in the same place in syncopation perhaps you are for a moment a calculus of one point on a trajectory and you say I can only ask for what I give and am given and no more, you have miscalculated this flux flummoxed when the old terrain is flayed flat but thru the windshield you see the plateau ends, the geography unknown, when you see unknown when you seek the unknown when you give from places you did not know you had to give from when you kiss a hand for  twenty minutes more than than the one minute you intended when you give more than is asked when you ask for more than you can you think you can give the imbalance that  is the only concert the imbalance that is the the only constant how do I know this? what are my credentials? you are not a teenage girl, what matters of what you know, recall of these matters? I am who I am a diversity of man and manner; I am past prime and in decline but this I know for having failed ten thousand poem times you must ask for more than one can give but that's not fair! silly one, still wretched confused, even after one hundred thousand poem times you must ask of yourself more than you can give and ask no less demand no less a body in emotion is not a body in rest when the imbalance is too great or insufficient then you write a poem look in the mirror that cannot lie and move on or move off   begin to ask yourself to whom may I give myself more than is asked. then you have finally asked the correct solution to the unsolvable equation ---

He slumped onto the barbedwire thinking of the end in no man's land his uniform grey with ash his army colours now blind to all From out of a trench he had dashed but dying no hero by the call of a whistle just a name in a thankless world war that in a thousand more years will have tragically so many tears No Poppy will grow here whilst the bombs and gunfire go on this land will not settle with killing machines of metal So he is dying with his blood and pride yet not in a land for butterflies he looks at his loves stained photograph in his last breath gasps, Poppy my Poppy By Christis Andreas Kourtis aka NeonSolaris

Narrowed visions of the limitless heights of hope Dreams deferred not dashed or shattered like glass Head held high to the sky Feet always grounded never caught off guard Hopeless Dark clouds Dark Thoughts Altered by substances poisoning the community These hands Those hearts hardened by this cold existence His hands Her thighs Their minds killing the hopes of the future Savage The stench of failure and poverty reeks throughout the streets Hunger pains and dope fiends screams vibrate the streets like a sick beat Cries of the children young and old scatter the air with grief and unbearable pain A young man dead A young woman ***** harsh realities simmer in this mixing bowl of misery Numb Hopes Dreams fears ignored by the outside looking in The mindset of a hustler taught to struggle and fight the hard way A better life shown in the gleam of a child eye Reality worsens with the smell of death Ghetto Dreams

Ghetto Dreams
In the  golden times of his age,  no one ever sought a way more beautiful, Because no one taught them that their path, Was different. Days, months ,years were all full of unexpected happenings. Besides we were all born the same way. He woke up , dashed through life just like his elders. Laid in the midst of a beautiful middle sun, He watched his skin dry, with no earning for his hardwork Besides life is for living Just a walk home, he rushed his memory through, A series of his lineage and realised it was a whole Miserable pattern of dreams shuttered. Running for a ward or two , he paced to his next neighbour Just to see if , thoughts could match into a hope. He lost it all, because neither did they understand his feeling. He changed direction, and sought for rescue in this unknown land. Just like heavy pours through a stream, he has never looked Back, because his dream was his own. Running at a faster rate, he wishes all the sunrises would remain to replace the dead ones ,that left him poor. Today, he is on a strange path, which only him can relate to, Because dreams don't have shadows, you either walk with them or remain together with no one leading.

His dream
by rgpage in times long past young lovers dashed to reach their secret space. to kiss and ***** and plan and hope their future's goals are placed. never mind their path be lined with unknown strife and pain. their love is strong they'll carry on with carefree youthful gain. they don't see their life to be past cupid's hot embrace. as hot breath blends with kiss' deep young lovers start their chase. young love is hot and secrets not shall block their youthful nest. when young men dare and young girls share young lovers start their quest. its saturday night, dad's packard's right with half a tank of gas. with comb to hair in the bathroom mirror he's thinking 'bout his lass. its only been a week gone past his greatest dream came true. he staked his claim, with hopes on high and pinned his Peggy Sue. they talked of passages young men take to cross that great divide. to walk the way of their father's and yes to take a bride. in the grown up world so long past school the grown ups just don't see. teen love is true and made to last the way it was meant to be. he got on base with his varsity pin, the base is numbered two. this place before he'd never been he hardly knew what to do. his body went through changes great his thoughts a swirling brook. he cupped his prize with shaky hand when before he could only look. tonight's the night he's waited for yes perhaps go all the way. to walk with those who've beat love's quest to become a man this day. the time is ripe as is the night it's planned in every way. she won't resist his manly charms WHAT MONTHLY FRIEND? how long does she plan to stay? and what's her visit to do with us away from the lights of the city? who is this friend to ruin this night? his plans be dashed more the pity.

STRANDED Shards of glass and scraps of metal As the sand finally settled I stared at the plane; a total wreck Stranded, in hot soup we had landed Quickly, we fled Thoughtlessly, we ****** ahead, Onto a lost, unknown trail Unaware of what time would unveil Days flew by without notice, Every drop of water was bliss Several miles away from home, Stranded in what could be our tomb. Tears rolled down our cheeks Definitely, our future was bleak Death was hiding under every stone We were terrified, hungry and cold We soon got bored Our hopes were dashed The situation was rather like a game show We were stranded and so full of woe Soon, Superman came, But it was nothing like the video games. Oh, at least we were alright, Far, far away from the crash site We were soon in the limelight, Part of international affairs, just overnight With parents, we reunited No longer stranded, but certainly undecided

Stranded
The end of Second Summer's day When rain and snow have ceased to be Will see the end of our delay And mark the death of our decree. *Elsewhere the despondent souls Of smoke-stacks rise up from the coals...* As plastic melts beneath the glare And long the Dream was dashed ashore, Then will smog-clouds light the air And cast the fires across the moor. *... Then, far beyond, the wand'ring mirth Will strike the land, and scorch the Earth...* Until the sky is raised in flame We'll walk the trail of frail regrets, And once the world glows hot with shame Shame will then our end beget. *... And so our doing will blaze the sky By MMXXVII*.

In days dead and burried in time, In a very far away enchanted clime, In the mighty kingdom of Nineva Where there fairly shone forever, There once was a strange lonely wood That ever in fairest robes of green stood By the edge of a fair shoreline of pearl, Whose mystery none may tell nor unfurl. For akin to the most effulgent yonder star That forevermore scintillates from afar In a splendiferous novelty golden cluster, So thrice scintillated the gem's luster. And 'tis for this that as we all truly know, All mortals, I say, all mortals  of long ago Gravitated from corners of distant lands On the quest for riches by those strands. Once, sweltering was the noontide When upon a violent lonely rolling tide A bunch of desperate pirates were seen Nearing that wood of emerald sheen. In a while, they'd gathered all they could, Leaving not a single gem in the wood. Alas! A wind murmured upon the skies In faint whispers: "Woods have eyes" So muttered all birds - all birds of the air, All creatures in caverns desolate yet fair, All leaves upon strange shadowy trees, And all - all creatures of wild lonely seas. But, despite the looming dark omen, Swifter than plummeting drops of rain, So hastily dashed every single pirate Blindingly minding not about their fate. They raised their silvery sails to take sail But hark! All this - all this was to no avail; For upon the skies no wind was seen To render them across so wide a sea. In a jiffy, louder than birds of the skies All gems whispered, "Woods have eyes." From that moment on, all lost their sight, Doomed never to behold the sun's light. And now, upon those murky restless seas They dost weep but no plea can please, For they were doomed to rove evermore In search of their long forgotten shore. ©Kikodinho Edward Alexandros, Kampala, Uganda. 29th.July.2018.

As Fish swam It met a strange piece of plastic Afloat above the surface That seemed to curve slightly beneath the water Fish swam to it Despite the fear And the piece of plastic didn’t move So Fish became intrigued And it swam to its center Poking at it with its flat eyes Days went on And Fish rested with the plastic Feeling at peace with it And so it became Plastic And Fish stayed friendly with Plastic No matter how much bigger or different it was Fish spoke to Plastic nonetheless It felt dependent on it It felt comfortable and happy Something that Fish had not felt from its cold lake surrounding it Until One fatal day Plastic dashed Almost parting the water of the lake Too fast for Fish to swim after it And as it went to catch its friend Fish started to feel things it had felt before And it felt betrayed Alone As if it had wasted time On a simple piece of plastic So it swam until it couldn’t anymore for Plastic And soon stopped and tried to forget about Plastic Fish finally went back home Lonesome days went by Fish went on with its life Struggling to feel content with what it was doing On its own Until one fatal day Fish left its home And saw a piece of plastic The same piece of plastic it remembered But it was a little different With more scratches and some seaweed attached to it So now Fish swam towards Plastic excitedly And swam to the surface when it reached Plastic And looked above the water And saw that Plastic had long sails Ropes attached And it looked so slick and modern It was massive too Fish swam back down It saw so much more of Plastic So much more than Fish had never imagined Which set them apart even more Which made them so much more different So Fish never went close to Plastic again It still felt betrayal Even more afraid now And remembered the days that followed Plastic's sudden leave Like a sharp knife to its tiny, beating heart Because Plastic grew up and different And Plastic reminded Fish of many things Like misunderstanding Like disappointment And it didn’t want to feel like that ever again So it never went close to Plastic again It never left again But it felt... distant And it was painful to wonder what Plastic and Fish could have done together And so Fish tried once more And Plastic seemed pleased For it did not move And so Fish tried once more And this time it felt something A strange tension between the two But then That night In confusion of whether the feeling was good or not Fish remembered how much it hurt To be left by Plastic To be alone again So suddenly And it felt afraid that Plastic might not be as happy to be around Fish as Fish was to be around Plastic And now Fish waits for Plastic to see through the litter in the lake And finally dash for Fish

Plastic and Fish

HE was the one to glue her back together when she had broken apart. She was left by Another. A heap. A mess. And HE came along, a homemade superhero, to bandage her cuts and ice her sores and nurse her back to health. At her every word, HE bent a listening ear. If she had talked for years, HE wouldn't have flinched. Another came back. She grabbed her things and dashed off, into Another's arms again, the same arms capable of crushing. Ok HE said That's fine HE said Lucky for her, HE packed her some glue just in case

I dive left before heading right, more times than I care to admit, Each time I turn right and am not confronted, it feels like rejection, A small death of little consequence for the life that could have been So sweet, so superficial, a mini life grew- as I read your bio, To be dashed in another instant of silence, I have a tendency to rush into things without much guidance. Your voice is sweet and smooth- to read, Imagine a personality that fits- perfectly in the palm of my hand, Conveyed in small white messages, poked through smaller holes, Each one I read makes me feel a little brighter inside, But each little light catches fire and dies, I must confide That each one I read makes me feel alive. But only for the moment, so I conduct another, Small parcel containing another little piece of my soul, “If you can feel your soul slowly, slipping away, that means that you still have one” That is a phrase that will lead you to defeat before you have begun, It leads to me giving away much less than I can afford, These ‘one for one’ serotonin boosts are leaving me bored… So maybe we could meet, go get something to eat, I am sure that I won’t be bored by your topic of conversation, Or at least I will try and make it look that way, Because the cold reality is that we have nothing in common, Except for a lack of self-esteem and an overestimation of our- Social skills, next to non-existent, I am perpetually distant! I am sure that you were terrifically disappointed with last night Because your messages are written on withered pieces of paper, A full stop is the most definite thing that there is, Subtle undertones have a pulse and it beats, Black blood to and from a dying heart, I should have known that you were poison, right from the start.

Vibrations of steel block engines have been lulling me to sleep lately Eyelids swaying up and down like the back and forth of seaweed on the ocean floor I count yellow dashed lines like others count sheep Feeling my consciousness slip away, I’m drowsy, I’m dreaming I dream of a golden city A golden bay along golden grass rooted in golden soil Golden streets with golden stop lights Golden cars parked in golden parking buildings Gold Telephone towers powered by gold electrical cables I begin noticing something strange about this city, as it shone so brightly with a golden sun setting as the city’s own back drop. There were no inhabitants. No pigeons. No stray cats. No dogs scavenging for spare scraps on starving stomachs Business Men in suits are found littering streets all around the globe. These streets lay barren Little girls playing hopscotch and jump-rope gone as if the city misplaced them all. My stomach dropping as I drop to my knees Panic attacks bring back memories of family and friends The beautiful faces of girls I once loved, and ones I may never be able to Questioning if reality was the dream I am alone in a wonderful Jungle It’s not easy to be alone in a City of Gold

This is me, Staying Gold
now that territory outweighs tolerance, we all just march in search of conquest, for it is this that we were born to do. no one questions this so called 'truth,' we just read outdated books and call them proof. for the right to destroy, we'll accept any view. give me this and give me that and put the rest up on a rack on the off chance i run out of things to consume. we're getting bloated and overfed but that still doesn't leave any time to rest because this isn't enough, and i need a bigger room. so i'll just take yours and when i'm done, i'll take his, and what i can't take, i'll drown in my **** . . . no matter what, it will all be marked as mine. and when the devil takes us up to show what we could have, we'll say, 'we fooled you! we took all we could nab. you've got nothing to offer us, so get in the ******* line, like everyone else we've got tagging along, weeping and praying, singing spiritual songs, and waiting for us to throw them a bone.' because everyone knows territory outweighs tolerance . . . it's easy to believe if you have no conscience, and you're willing to spend your life in your mind, alone. so that's what we do: march about and consume and destroy and defile and declare it as truth, and ignore anything that points to something else. because where ever we go there is never peace, we just breed violence like a ******* disease and pretend there is no such thing as a Self. because like mitochondria, we're ensuring growth and what's it to us if we leave dashed hopes trailing behind in our wake? get in the line, or lay down and die, but whatever was yours now is called mine, and i'm already looking for something else to take.

We dashed from your ally with Each spring up the hill I could sense The world abdicate from the unfamiliar Hand I was embracing my body became hollow as The wind carefully pierced me we reached the stage the Lucent lights shone on your lips and my mouth watered while The cold seized our bodies forcing them to glue together under the Blanket of stars the warmth soothed the air but we held the cold captive as A cover to cherish the glow that bubbled us from the city lights and the flourishing Leaves when the secretive silence stole the cold’s show “so” you leaned in and brushed your Lips off mine and the bubble burst and everything shifted. All because of this. One. Moment.
